Welcome to our fifth generation, mini-valley, woodland, and rolling hills. Empty Cupboard Farm has been family owned since 1918. It is presently planted in soy and corn. Wildlife abounds, including deer, small mammals, and geese. Bald eagles and Heron even take a pond dip periodically. Woodland trails are accessible and new tree plantings can be observed. We welcome RVs under 30'. It will be too hilly for anything longer. (Be aware: inclement weather is not your friend here if your vehicle can't handle potentially slippery conditions.) Enjoy the following activities: Mountain biking, pedal only - Pond fishing. (Sorry, no swimming in the pond; but an "An open to the public", private pool is 13 miles/20min. As is the Y. Lawn games and a fire pit are available. So are the stars at night; cloud permitting. Consider the free star gazing app, SkyView Lite, even in the day and under clouds. Don't miss our stunning sunsets at the "Red Door," our entrance. Historical towns within 10 miles any direction are reached over rolling countryside. Gettysburg is less than 20 miles. Baltimore is less than an hours ride by open highway. Blue Ridge mountains 18 miles. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard. Additional things to see: Boating in Carroll County Maryland. Local wineries Ski Liberty Carroll is a full service county whatever your needs. Check out carrollcountytourism.org to learn more No lions, tigers, and Oh my! However, be aware that small critters may try to steal your food. No recent bear sightings. Geese visit occasionally. Coyotes are seen periodically. All hunting rights are reserved for long term clientele; therefore, hiking on the farm may be curtailed if they are present during hunting season. A Little Slice of Heaven and Love

This is a glorious, pristine farm w/ complete privacy & seclusion. I was the ONLY camper during my 2 nite stay. Peggy came out of her house to kindly greet me, then left me alone to pick anywhere on her 8 acres i wanted to set up. Nothing was off limits. Was in a yurt w/ 2 dogs they ran around like they owned the place. She was always avail however. Just a text, phone call away or even a holler up the hill. She had a huge burn pile ready for me to use but it was too windy & I set my tent up too close-so no campfire-boo my bad! Property consists mostly corn fields, a lovely pond, a barn & hog house. Lots of green mowed grass. Not totally level (somewhat hilly) but flat enough to set up camp. Lovely willow, maple, locust & walnut trees. The sun set over the pond in a blaze of color. Barn swallows graze the pond & a ground hogs munch dinner. Deer if you're lucky. Bring binoculars! There were ZERO mosquitos. I loved that Peggy was attune to my needs & happy to help without being nosy/overbearing. I felt a real kinship as she runs the place by herself & it's absolutely perfect. She's the real deal-a true blue hard-working farm woman. Empty Cupboard Farm is only a few minutes from all the shopping you'll need but private enough you can't hear a sound at night but cows, owls & crickets. At the top of farm is the infamous Red Door & tons of chestnuts to roast. Its very easy to find, very easy access in. Run, dont walk to EMPTY Cupboard Farm for a FULL renewing spiritual experience.

GREAT time here! Soooo quiet and peaceful. Peggy is a great hostess. Her daughter helped me when I arrived and Peggy talked to me later. Definitely want to stay here again!

Excellent trip!! Peggy met me when I got there and she said I can set up anywhere out around the pond. Had a great peaceful night. Would come back for sure!

This place is probably perfect for tent camping but not for a travel trailer. The grass had not been cut in weeks which made it even harder to level, not to mention the bugs we ended up with in our cars. The power she offers was barely enough to just run the air which that alone would trip her power and we would have to call to have her flip the breaker. Peggy’s house is also right there also. Not very private. I would recommend for tent camping only!

I really loved this location. It's right by the pond, it's very quiet and peaceful. The owner is a very nice person and very accommodating. Everything was perfect! ☺️

We loved camping at Peggy’s. The views were beautiful, the site was very private. The family house was right there but they didn’t come out. We will gladly go back.

We enjoyed the peaceful scenery and nights. The pond was pleasant and the kids enjoyed the open space. It was great for bike riding and walking. Fireside evenings and cooking were nice, as was the firewood.

Beautiful country setting. Host was very gracious, met me upon arrival, explained/ answered all my questions. We got to pick our camping area. Host was very friendly, asking about any needs. Highly recommend this Hipcamp. Couldn’t beat cost/fee.

The place was BEAUTIFUL!! Very peaceful and quiet. The perfect place for a weekend getaway! Peggy is the best and sweetest host. We got there late and she still made it outside to greet us while we set up and gave us great recommendations on what to do and where to go. We got to take home some fresh chestnuts that had fallen, you could hear them fall at night which added a nice little spooky touch if you’re not used to camping. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful and pretty place to set up for the weekend!

Great site and host. I loved the seclusion being at the end of the road. Fun to watch the swallows diving above the pond for insects. Those combined with local bat population made my stay virtually bug free. A 40 mile drive to nearest Metro if you are visiting DC while here. Highly recommend. I would definitely return in the future. Thank you Peggy!!!!

Our stay at Peggy’s was lovely. The property is quite scenic and peaceful. Plenty of area to walk and enjoy nature. We enjoyed everything about it!

A serene view...

We came to Peggy's property with our 21' travel trailer. She has an absolutely beautiful non working farm with a pond as a focal point. It is a serene setting. Some trees were knocked down from a prior storm, but all in all it is a perfect place to camp. She has some 110V power available, and a spigot near the barn. We loved it so much that we already booked another stay!

Awesome hip camp. Bird lovers paradise….. extremely relaxing. Peggy is a gem. Hearing the pond at night is extremely methodical. Good sleeping!! The Electric and water hook up are in great condition. Depending on how close to the pond or your desired placement will truly depend on how long of an extension cord. Hiked the woods and hills….. the land just keeps going! Thank you Peggy!!!!

I loved tent camping here! The land is spacious and beautiful with the meadows and the waters. Super serene and with nice weather it's beautiful sights all around. It's peaceful and quaint. Peggy is also so kind and awesome!!! If you're looking for a private, quiet, relaxing time, highly recommend this location.

My husband, puppy, and I absolutely loved meeting our host, Peggy, and camping on her land. She was very friendly and has so much knowledge of the area. Her land was peaceful and beautiful. Our puppy had a blast and we all felt so serene after leaving. My husband caught a bunch of blue gills and one small bass. We would definitely return. Thank you, Peggy, for such a wonderful getaway weekend.

Beautiful site, awesome host and I would definitely come back again. There was a picnic table, large fire pit and potable water available. The host was super accommodating, they hooked up extension cords so we could have electricity the night we arrived. There are some spots that aren’t level, but we would a nice spot to setup. Very easy to find and you will love the views, especially the colors of the fall.

Peggy’s place was an excellent place to land for 2 nights. We van camped by the fire ring next to the pond. Many mature trees hosting many birds plus it was migration season, so great birding. There is also a big red barn, old and beautiful. Peggy was responsive and very nice.

Peaceful Car Camping Experience

Empty Cupboard Farm was a delight! The host Peggy was welcoming and friendly—happy to chat but also sensitive to privacy. As a solo female car camper I felt very safe tucked into the farms valley. The pond, barn and surrounding fields were so peaceful. . If you forget something plenty of stores 4 miles away in Taney town or 10 miles to Westminster. I definitely recommend it! As Peggy said before my stay, a tornado hit the area earlier this summer with damage to several trees and one of the outbuildings—this didn’t affect my enjoyment of my stay at all—I just mention it so visitors are aware. Thank you for a restful visit at your farm!
