Welcome to our fifth generation, mini-valley, woodland, and rolling hills. Empty Cupboard Farm has been family owned since 1918. It is presently planted in soy and corn. Wildlife abounds, including deer, small mammals, and geese. Bald eagles and Heron even take a pond dip periodically. Woodland trails are accessible and new tree plantings can be observed. We welcome RVs under 30'. It will be too hilly for anything longer. (Be aware: inclement weather is not your friend here if your vehicle can't handle potentially slippery conditions.) Enjoy the following activities: Mountain biking, pedal only - Pond fishing. (Sorry, no swimming in the pond; but an "An open to the public", private pool is 13 miles/20min. As is the Y. Lawn games and a fire pit are available. So are the stars at night; cloud permitting. Consider the free star gazing app, SkyView Lite, even in the day and under clouds. Don't miss our stunning sunsets at the "Red Door," our entrance. Historical towns within 10 miles any direction are reached over rolling countryside. Gettysburg is less than 20 miles. Baltimore is less than an hours ride by open highway. Blue Ridge mountains 18 miles. Taneytown, 1836, has an extraordinary antique store that is a delight to browse; as well as fine dining, drive through, an open air beer garden and close by grocery stores. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard. Additional things to see: Boating in Carroll County Maryland. Local wineries Ski Liberty Carroll is a full service county whatever your needs. Check out carrollcountytourism.org to learn more No lions, tigers, and Oh my! However, be aware that small critters may try to steal your food. No recent bear sightings. Geese visit occasionally. Coyotes are seen periodically. All hunting rights are reserved for long term clientele; therefore, hiking on the farm may be curtailed if they are present during hunting season. This place is idyllic - straight out a story book - it makes me think of Charlotte’s Web, only there were no pigs in the hog shed. I wish I had more time to sit and read a book under the shade of the large maple tree by the pond. Quiet and serene. Peggy is super-nice. Because nobody was booked to come in on the day I left, she told me I could take my time, so I got to enjoy the space a bit more and didn’t have to rush. I would highly recommend it. The property does slope towards the pond, so I would be cautious about trying to place a large camper too close to the pond. I had a very large tent and just carted what I needed to where I set up.

We stayed over memorial day weekend and had a lovely time. The property is beautiful, quiet, and full of wildlife. We enjoyed the fire pit, fishing in the pond, and camping next to the water.

Peggy helped us settle in quickly, since we arrived just before sunset. The views were beautiful and her dogs were cute! We had a fire by the pond, and you can't beat that ambiance.

Beautiful property and very peaceful. Waking up to the gobble of a wild turkey is about as in nature aa it gets. Peggy was great!

The host was responsive. Beautiful views of the hilly countryside and a really pretty old barn near the pond where we stayed. At night we listened to Coyotes passing through very nearby. We appreciate Peggy sharing her property with us.

I'm not sure how so many pictures leave out the house in these reviews but the house is literally RIGHT there. So, not very secluded. But, Peggy did let me stay on the concrete pad at the back of the barn (mostly cause of wind) so it helped it feel a little more secluded than it was. Host was nice but saw her a lot, so for me personally it made the experience less enjoyable. Pretty peaceful other than that, and flight traffic is a thing throughout the night and day. You can hear the highway in the distance but doesn't ruin the whole atmosphere. I would say it's a great spot when you're in a bind and need to camp out for one night. I stayed for three nights (booked four but left early) and it wasn't really a place that was continuously enjoyable to spend time in, like the woods or beach.

Peggy thank you for receiving me last night. I was able to find the firewood (more than enough) and the water pump. The sunset was 100% foggy and the pond was frozen, which was absolutely amazing for me. The night full of stars, and then a perfect sunset. Everything was good, beautiful, and safe. Regards. Larry

A Little Slice of Heaven and Love

This is a glorious, pristine farm w/ complete privacy & seclusion. I was the ONLY camper during my 2 nite stay. Peggy came out of her house to kindly greet me, then left me alone to pick anywhere on her 8 acres i wanted to set up. Nothing was off limits. Was in a yurt w/ 2 dogs they ran around like they owned the place. She was always avail however. Just a text, phone call away or even a holler up the hill. She had a huge burn pile ready for me to use but it was too windy & I set my tent up too close-so no campfire-boo my bad! Property consists mostly corn fields, a lovely pond, a barn & hog house. Lots of green mowed grass. Not totally level (somewhat hilly) but flat enough to set up camp. Lovely willow, maple, locust & walnut trees. The sun set over the pond in a blaze of color. Barn swallows graze the pond & a ground hogs munch dinner. Deer if you're lucky. Bring binoculars! There were ZERO mosquitos. I loved that Peggy was attune to my needs & happy to help without being nosy/overbearing. I felt a real kinship as she runs the place by herself & it's absolutely perfect. She's the real deal-a true blue hard-working farm woman. Empty Cupboard Farm is only a few minutes from all the shopping you'll need but private enough you can't hear a sound at night but cows, owls & crickets. At the top of farm is the infamous Red Door & tons of chestnuts to roast. Its very easy to find, very easy access in. Run, dont walk to EMPTY Cupboard Farm for a FULL renewing spiritual experience.

This place is probably perfect for tent camping but not for a travel trailer. The grass had not been cut in weeks which made it even harder to level, not to mention the bugs we ended up with in our cars. The power she offers was barely enough to just run the air which that alone would trip her power and we would have to call to have her flip the breaker. Peggy’s house is also right there also. Not very private. I would recommend for tent camping only!

We enjoyed the peaceful scenery and nights. The pond was pleasant and the kids enjoyed the open space. It was great for bike riding and walking. Fireside evenings and cooking were nice, as was the firewood.

Beautiful country setting. Host was very gracious, met me upon arrival, explained/ answered all my questions. We got to pick our camping area. Host was very friendly, asking about any needs. Highly recommend this Hipcamp. Couldn’t beat cost/fee.

The place was BEAUTIFUL!! Very peaceful and quiet. The perfect place for a weekend getaway! Peggy is the best and sweetest host. We got there late and she still made it outside to greet us while we set up and gave us great recommendations on what to do and where to go. We got to take home some fresh chestnuts that had fallen, you could hear them fall at night which added a nice little spooky touch if you’re not used to camping. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a peaceful and pretty place to set up for the weekend!
