There is a functioning blacksmith shop today, as well as an expansive wood working shop. A ;band of rhyolite runs through the property that was used by Native Americans for spear points dating back to the paleolithic period. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. Evensong Farm is a preserved historic farm adjacent to the Antietam National Battlefield. We have set up two, almost identical, sites on a 60 acre parcel of our farm which is very private for our campers, but allows access to the lovely Antietam Creek. The sites themselves are about 500 feet apart so, while they maintain privacy when booked by different parties, can also be booked together for group stays. We have been hosting campers at our "glampsites" since 2021. Each off-grid site has a 12x16 platform with a 10x12 canvas side wall tent, a firepit and chairs, a cooking area with a grill and sink for washing up, a picnic table and benches, and a private bathroom with a composting toilet and solar shower bag. The main tent is set up for 2 people, although 4 is possible. The sites can handle a max of 12 people, with the use of additional tents (BYO or you can set up some of ours). We provide an electronic camp guide to all of our campers that include our recommendations for things to do in the area, as well as camping tips and other handy info. Inside the tent you will find a queen size bed, side tables, and a cafe table and chair set. We have put down foam flooring and a carpet for your comfort and provide numerous battery powered lights, lanterns and fans. In cold months we can add a propane heater to keep the chill away. We also have some games, maps of the area, decks of cards, and a fire extinguisher. Stepping outside the tent you'll find our long rainfly creates a covered porch where you can relax on our provided chairs. There are additional chairs around the firepit and each firepit has a cooking grate so you can cook over your campfire. We provide one bundle of firewood (including kindling) per night with your reservation. We do sell additional firewood, if needed. In our kitchen area you will find a picnic table and chairs, 5 gallons of drinking water, a clean up table that includes a foot operated pump sink with an additional 5 gallons of washing water, a grill (one site has propane and the other has charcoal), trash and recycling bins, grill tools, lighters, plus dish and hand soaps. Our farm is a mile and a half from the town of Sharpsburg, MD, home of the Antietam National Battlefield (and Nutter's Ice Cream Shop). You will find the Appalachian Trail to our east and the C&O Canal to our west (10 minute drive to either).

The Yabin was a true labor of love built as a collective effort in community. There is a designated parking spot and a gravel path (moderate decline) that leads down to the Yabin. We are 10 minutes to the Appalachian Trail (Weverton Cliffs/Gathland SP and Crampton Gap) and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers (great for tubing/kayaking/wading/swimming). We are 15 minutes away from historic Harpers Ferry. Antietam National Battlefield and other historic sites are within 30 minutes. Mid-June update: Firefly season is here and it looks to be another good year, although we havent seen biblical numbers like the past years yet. Soon? Under next week's full moon?? The river is at about 85% peak summer quality this week. Very warm and ready for lounging, floating or kayaking. A few details about our sites in the general camping area: Sites 1, 3, 8,9,10,11 have 13x20 shade sails, 2,4,5,6,7 have 10x13 shade sails that are also weatherproof. For larger groups, I recommend any of the sites with the larger shade sails as they have a bit more space than the others. Enjoy the nearly direct access to the CO Canal Historic Park and the kid friendly, serene stretch of the Potomac River we border. Choose from 11 similar sites available for your camping pleasure in our clover filled bottomland as well as our Hilltop sites for maximum privacy, exclusivity and star gazing potential. The surrounding old growth forest makes for a great hiking and biking as well as a very accessible and kid friendly cave to explore. All sites now have either 10x13 or 13x20 shade sails available to keep the afternoon sun at bay: recommended. We have two kayaks on site free of charge. We have some life vests, but if you have your own, bring those along. The river's main beach located between sites 7 and 8, is shaded/filtered sun all day long while our smaller beach at site 1 is sunny most of the day and affords some of the nicest river lounging via a rock ledge that spans 4wd or All Wheel Drive are recommended. If it's been relatively dry, single wheel cars are 100% fine. We have ways to mitigate most weather events. Please pre-order firewood and/or shade sails via a message to me when booking your stay and save the 18% "booking fee" or add them via the "extras" section for your site so I can have it waiting for you. $40 buys you a long night's ++ burn worth of well-seasoned hardwood. Cash venmo paypal zelle all accepted upon arrival. If ordering firewood using the "extra" feature, 1 load is $20.00 which is a 1/2 nights supply. Order 2 if you want a full night/morning supply. The campground is situated in the wooded area on the back of 27 acre horse farm which is known as "The Stables at Mezza Luna." There is Wi-Fi to all the sites. Every year in the spring there are 4-6 Thoroughbred foals born that eventually will become racehorses. They live on the farm until they are 2 years old and then they go off to begin their racing career. In the daytime, when you are not sitting around your campfire, you can walk the fence lines and visit with the Mares and Foals or just watch them frolic in the fields.. Who knows, you might get to meet a future Kentucky Derby winner. Nearby attractions include: BLACK HILLS REGIONAL PARK (15 minutes) for boating, hiking or biking Vineyard 61 (5 minutes) Stone Silo Brewery (5 Minutes) Leechwood Haunted Forest (5 Minutes) October weekends only There are also chickens, roosters and peacocks that are very happy to receive any type of treat such as raisins. Kids can even go in the chicken coop and pick out their very own egg they can cook for their breakfast. For the energetic campers and kids there are also lots of trails that you can walk or hike on and there is a small stream the kids can play in. There also is a playground with swings, monkey bars, seesaw and trampoline. There is a dumpster in front of the barn for you to place your trash. Please drop off during your stay or on your way out of the property. Don't miss out out on this hidden gem just minutes from our nation's capital.

Taylors Landing exceeded our expectations. It sits alongside the beautiful Potomac which is amazing for paddleboarding. Theres also a 180 mile trail for hiking and biking. Greg was a great host and has a gem of a property. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Pathfinder Farm Distillery RV Stay

This was our first stay in an RV and it was fabulous. It was well maintained, very clean, and had all of the essentials that we needed. It was a super hot weekend and the AC kept up the whole time. Pappy was an excellent host and was only a call away to answer any of our questions. The distillery tour and tasting was excellent and very detailed. If you are looking for a quiet and spacious place to go, this is it!

We had a great time camping at Taylor’s Landing. The campsite is really nice and being next to the river is a great perk. The river was great for swimming and cooling off during the hot summer weekend we experienced. Would definitely recommend this campsite.

I love the campsite. I enjoyed being very close to the trail and walking the C&O. I enjoy being close to the Potomac River and going swimming. The porta potties were close. I paid for the shade sail and for firewood, totally worth it. Greg even brought us a lot of water. I would definitely go again. And I definitely recommend.

Site set up nicely. Role swing over the Potomac was delightful. Greg’s daughter stopped by next morning to make sure we had everything we needed. Steep drive to get in, but our FWD van handled it just fine. Lovely stay.

First of all, the site owner, Greg, and his family are exceptional at running the whole operation. They are good and honest people who work hard to share their slice of paradise. It was good and timely communication before and throughout the trip. Greg was kind enough to offer me some help with my fishing rod, which got me back in the river for 3 days. All camping reservation sites were spaced out so that other campers had good distance and privacy between sites. I highly recommend the shade sail, it did me good service in the afternoon sun. Just in time to kick back and watch a few deer grazing the fields when taking a break from the river. The quality of the firewood was excellent (kiln dried, which had a long burn time and put out a lot of heat. Better firewood than many sites I have been too in MD. The nearby trail system is great for walking, running, biking. The river has a sandy shallow edge where you can wade in deeper across small stones. It was a a safe depth and comfortable temperature when I was there (but that may vary a bit upon recent rainfall). It was a beautiful place to fish. A wide river, lined with huge trees, and high rock cliffs with birds of prey catching the air currents (saw a bald eagle among others birds). I saw someone pull a bass out of the deeper part of the river, and saw some catfish too. Sharpsburg is a nice little town, and Antietam is right around the corner. I strongly recommend both the campground and site #1. I’d visit again.

About

Located on the ridge of the Catoctin Mountains in Frederick County, Gambrill State Park is a stunner. It’s separated into two regions, Rock Run and High Knob, the latter of which looks down upon two valleys and the northern reaches of the Shenandoah Mountains.

The park features a sweet 16 miles of trails and a unique stone lodge called the Tea Room. It was originally built by the CCC in the 1930s for community events and gatherings. Today, it remains true to that original purpose hosting weddings, family reunions, business meetings and other special events. The park also has a Nature Center with activity packets filled with ideas like scavenger hunts and self-guided hikes. Get explorin'!

Gambrill Campground

We had a lovely time. The campsite was spacious. The hosts checked in with us multiple times and were quite accommodating. We enjoyed playing frisbee golf, and just hanging out by the campfire with friends.
