Our third fall stay at the "Roost." We always love the privacy (just the one site), the animals (got to feed two sweet goats), and the golden hour/sunsets. Also, it is a great location - this time we checked out Antietam Battlefield, Potomac Ridge Brewing, and South Mountain Creamery.

It was a very private grassy campsite and easy to find. There were no issues with crowing roosters. West left a good bit of firewood for the chilly night and two jugs of water. There was lots of space to walk off-leash with the dog towards the back of the property.

Great site. Felt nice and private and quiet. Our host was so nice and showed us around to all the animals - the kids loved it! Close to Harper's Ferry, so we went over there for a quick half day excursion.

Camp was very private and relaxing. The goats came and said hello and then carried on grazing. There was some poison ivy growing up by the camp site but easily avoided. Wes had water and firewood set out with a fire pre-built in the ring ready to light.

We had a great time here, the camping spot was very nicely tucked along the tree line. There was firewood provided and even a little stack of tinder ready to be lit in the fire ring. Very peaceful spot.

The host West was great and helpful, however the site was inaccessible up a steep grassy hill with my 20’ camper van. West made room for me in his driveway right next to the road. Possibly, if it had been compacted and graveled it may have worked. The farm animals were adorable and the view from the hill (when I walked up) was lovely.

Quiet, peaceful at night, cute animals everywhere. I didn't use it, but there was wood and water left for me in case I needed it. Would stay again if coming out this way for hiking again in the future.

Nice spot, convenient to Harpers Ferry. My wife enjoyed meeting all of the farm animals. Firewood was already there for us. It was nice having somewhere safe to leave our Hiker Trailer unhooked while we visited the towns.

This is the second time we've stayed here. We love it! It's an idyllic private campsite on a farm with beautiful views that should cost more. The campfire was setup and ready to light when we arrived! West is awesome and let us feed his friendly goats. And just down the road is the Appalachian trail and Shepherdstown. We'll be back next year!

My boyfriend, dog, and I couldn't be happier with our stay! We had a 22 ft trailer with plenty of room in the field. The property and the animals are so cool. It was a very private stay but the hosts were super friendly and helpful! Couldn't recommend more

A great place to stay for the night. This is a quiet peaceful picturesque farm with plenty of private level space for parking your camper, either under the shade of trees or out on the grass. The host was was very friendly and helpful, and he even took us on a tour of the farm and showed us all of the animals. I hope to return the next time we're in the area.

Host was very helpful and answered all our questions. The site itself is absolutely beautiful, and is located towards the back of a tranquil farm with an array of animals (make sure you pay them a visit!). The canopy of trees was enough to give us plenty of shelter from the rain, and the path to the campsite was easily manageable in a sedan, despite the weather. 15 minutes from Antietam Battlefield and 20 minutes from Harpers Ferry made the location perfect too. Highly recommend, great value!

Everything about this campsite was just so easy. It was easy to find, with great directions. Even though the weather during our stay was an absolute scorcher, it was lovely and breezy on the hill under a Grove of Locust trees. We were able to sleep in comfortably every morning. There was enough wood provided for two nights of a small ambient campfire, just because ya gotta have one when you’re camping even if it’s 100° right?
We felt very secure, leaving our campsite and going out on a day filled with adventures. There’s so much in the area. We went tubing on and swimming in the Potomac, went to a moonshine festival in Harpers Ferry, enjoyed the views at Harpers Ferry Brewing, caught some live music, and enjoyed the local fireworks and fireflies.
I will note there were lots of gnats in the hottest parts of the day, but no biting insects at all that I noticed. Mildly annoying, but bug spray did help.
And the curious farm animals were just a bonus!
I would definitely use this campsite again if we come back to the area. Great value!

We loved staying here! I'm telling all my friends to come visit the baby goats and Emu! My 3 year old daughter loved it! Nice private camping near Harper's Ferry. Hosts are so friendly!

We had an awesome trip stay on the property. It’s about 30 minutes from Frederick, and 12 minutes from Boonsboro (nearest bathrooms and grocery store). We arrived late and lost gps just as we got there, but luckily he was waiting for us and showed us where to go. He was forthcoming with information, super helpful and was nice to chat with as we left.
We had private space away from the farm, and he left us alone to privacy. We had a superb camping experience.
Highly recommend and we’d come back.

It wasn't just camping on someone's property. This was an experience we will think of fondly for many years. West has a great back site that is grassy, private, and safe. Nestled up to the South Mountain range, it was just lovely. The night was quiet and the sky was spectacular. Plus, how often do you get to enjoy all eclectic mix of fowl? The emus were so interesting. I got to see Gordon hugging them like babies. Crazy. The baby goats were cute as can be. Thanks for the great memories!

This spot was tucked away a tree line surrounded by farm fields and animals. The camp was very clean and peaceful, would recommend to anyone looking to get away and just have some quite time. Goats are very friendly too!

West is an awesome host! The goats , emu’s and chickens are so fun to be around. The sunset and views are stunning. The night sky is pristine….. the stars are brilliant and seem touchable from the hill. West has a pre built starter for your fire in the pit. Wood is waiting with fire tools for your convenience!!! So many nice touches. I’m for ever grateful ….. thanks West

Nice little farm, in a beautiful area, nestled on the western slope of South Mountain. Great base camp for doing some day hikes on the AT and checking out some Civil War history. Thanks Wes and Thank You Gordo who ran shuttle for me!
