Glorious sunrises over the Catoctin Mts and a great 360 vista of the surrounding Farmlands and Orchards. Close to the Appalachian trail and several State Parks, great biking . Awesome area. We DO have good Wifi in all buildings THIS IS REAL FARM COUNTRY (sights, sounds and smells) Fresh local produce available either on our Farm or at innumerable Orchard stands throughout the year. This includes milk and ice cream :) , Apples, Peaches, Plums, Cherries, Strawberries, and all types of veggies and meats. The summer kitchen and its loft are outfitted as they would have been in the Victorian times, with implements for cooking, canning, candle making, herb and plant processing, braided rug making. etc. Object being to perk your curiosity and to reflect on another time in history, when practically every farm and homestead were self sufficient. Also, part of the stable is set up as a eating area, and the barn and hayloft as a hands on Farm museum to explore. Old fashioned games and rope swings and Arts and Crafts for additional fun. Our Mennonite neighbors milk 120 cows twice a day, and in the summertime, the cows come up to our back fence. This area is still very much Agrarian, with hundreds of Farms still being worked, it is a wonderful thing to see, experience and appreciate. Built in 1890, In the Victorian period, Cloud NIne still cherishes and honors the lifestyle and hard work of those who built and farmed her. The original owner was most likely a Merchant, as the house has many features and unusual things, beyond the grasp of the average country farmer. The names and dates of the previous owners, as well the date built are etched in the slate roof of the attic. The house has many built in cabinets and shelving units over doors, etc. Ppl didn't have many sets of clothes then and closets were not necessary. There is also a dry sink where washing of food would have been done from water brought in from the well. A cold storage room is located under one part of the house, this was your fridge at the time. Also a turnip hatch door in the floor of the house, would have been easy access for winter stored root crops. The main fireplace still has a iron swinging crane where food would have been cooked over the fire. I often try to think of what times were like in those days. Harder, yet simpler and perhaps better in many ways than the techno , pressurized, power lives of today.

I loved the charming and cozy accommodations! Tam has done so much to make this place lovely and interesting. We loved the chickens, and her friendly dog Willow, who was such a gentle and non-intrusive presence. We will definitely be back!

Perfect Weekend Away
This was our second visit to Cloud Nine Farm and we loved it again! It's really so close to our home near Washington, DC, but feels a world away, so it's a great change of scenes and an easy recharge. Our kids love running around the farm - playing with the dog, visiting the chickens, making art in the barn. Tam is a great host, really helpful and kind (lots of her good jams and pickles to buy/cook with in the barn, too). We hope to return in the spring to see Cloud Nine in a different season!

What a magical stay! I wanted to take the kids out of the city for their day off school but was a little wary without help from my partner. I needn’t have worried. From the moment we arrived we were captivated by the many treasures in the rooms, friendly animals, herbs and veggies to pick, swings, and even magic colors in the fire after S’mores. Tam was always thinking one step ahead and knowing what we needed. We loved sleeping up in the loft with twinkle lights, using the “princess throne” bathroom, making arts and crafts, and digging for potatoes. I left a whole bag of cooking equipment at home and Tam took care of everything. She has put so much care into making the farm special and had great tips for things to do in the area. We can’t wait to come back.

VICTORIAN SUMMER KITCHEN CURIOSITY
Tamara will give you a huge Maryland welcome and her hipcamp is a delightfully quirky and gentle place to stay. Tamara is a collector of oddities and antiques and if you have an eye for such things you will spend a lot of time just looking at the things that she has amassed. Her garden is beautiful and the best memory we have as a family is sitting as the sun set cooking sausages with Tamara as we chatted and the fireflies began to glow and the sky grew purple. The accommodation is basic, but that's what we wanted and the shower under the trees in the breeze is lovely. Tamara has the personal touch. On Sunday she set me up with a lap top to watch my UK football team as she ushered my kids to be creative and leave dad alone. Not sure where else one would find that kind of service!

A Unique Respite
Our last stop on a roadtrip with our toddler and 3 month old and our favorite. The landscape was stunning - we loved watching the sun set over the rolling hills from under the huge tree. Lots of farms nearby. Tamara was a warm, gracious, and knowledgeable host. She had produce from her garden laid out for us on arrival and helped my husband cook on a cast iron skillet for the first time. She won over my feisty toddler as well! My toddler loved the cats, Willow the dog, the chickens, tire swing, traipsing through the gardens, and arts and crafts. The loft itself was surprisingly comfortable, given its age, and was a charming look back into the 19th century. The toilet was awesome - you'll see what I mean... All in all, we enjoyed our brief stay and would return.

Cloud Nine Farm is a really special place. Tam has put so much thought and love into every detail and you really feel that. Her land is beautiful, her animals lots of fun, and Tam is so generous with her time and knowledge. As a bonus, the surrounding countryside is idyllic.

Not private but beautiful landscape
Overall, we had a nice time. The owner, Tam, is very knowledgable about the area. Out of her control was the weather- it was very hot and humid. There were few places to cool off. Also, the fire pit is directly in the hot sun, therefore, I waited until the sun started to go down to cook dinner, which was 8pm. Tam was nice and helpful. Unfortunately, my son and I got very little time to ourselves. That would be my one recommendation, to let guests ask for help or to hang out rather than the opposite. I am just the type of person not comfortable with asking someone I don't know well for space. I feel bad even saying anything on here. But I also want to be truthful. All in all, we. had a nice time. The area is remote with a very pretty landscape of rolling hills and farms.

My family and I had a terrific time at Tam’s property. The kids (7 and 9) had a wonderful time tending to the chickens, crafting in the art barn, and playing with Willow the German shepherd. She was extremely patient with the kids and took time out of her day to help them explore her property and animals. Hopefully we can return in the fall!

I had a good time staying in Tamara's Victorian Summer Kitchen. It was very cozy and made a nice romantic setting. Her gardens are beautiful and her knowledge of the plants there made the property even more interesting. Tamara also had helpful suggestions for things to do nearby. The stairs to the loft are tight if you are taller/larger like I am, but that is to be expected for an older building like that.

This property is so unique and Tamara is a welcoming, friendly, and gracious host. And Willow the dog is my new best friend. The summer kitchen is full of really cool antiques and artifacts, many of which were found on the property, and Tamara can tell stories about all of them. Although it rained for most of the weekend, we were cozy, and the beds in the loft were the perfect place to drift off while listening to the rain hit the roof. We can't wait to come back in the spring or summer to see Tamara's beautiful flower and vegetable gardens in bloom, to spend some time being creative in the craft barn, and to spend more time lounging in front of a campfire or under the HUGE tree in the middle of the property.

Hooray for Cloud Nine!
Cloud Nine is a wonderful destination and we couldn't ask for better hosts than Tam and Willow. This Victorian-era farm that offers comfort in a pastoral setting is thoughtfully arranged and decorated. The spacious property includes a vegetable and herb garden, sunny and shady sitting areas, and a barn with a cooking area and some art and craft supplies for children and adults to enjoy. Tam is extremely courteous and responsive, from booking to departure. Our family had a memorable stay, and left with homemade jam, a painted slate tile and eggs from chickens we got to know by name. We look forward to returning to Cloud Nine!

Felt like home (away from home)!
Family had such a nice time. Tam made us feel so comfortable and welcome. We had great conversations and learned a lot about setting up our future home for self-reliance, gardening, and animals. We actually brought more than we needed because she had so much. Thank you!

Victorian Summer Kitchen was enchanting and so comfortable and homey. A beautiful ambiance of vintage, Victorian and glamping in the beautiful views and farms nearby. Tamara was very hospitable, organized, and had so many added items such as tea, creamer, microwave, paper products, and sanitizing products. Willow, her cats, and chickens’ reflect her great personality.

Great getaway with kids!
My kids and I stayed at Tam's little slice of heaven for a quick weekend getaway. It was a perfect spot for the break we all needed, and a great home base for exploring nearby High Rock Overlook and Misty Meadow Farm. Staying in the Summer Kitchen was sort of like cabin camping, but better! My preschooler loved playing with the old-timey toys and gadgets in the little house, and my middle-schooler hung out on the tree swing and made friends with the cats. Tam's dog Willow is a sweetheart and great with kids. The arts-and-crafts barn is genius - there are materials for all kinds of projects ready to go. Tam is a super attentive host - she built our fires (as I am not a seasoned camper!) and helped us cook over the flames. She has thought of everything a person might need in order to be comfortable and enjoy their stay.

Tam and Willow are wonderful hosts
Staying at Cloud Nine Farm was a special kind of paradise. Tamara and Willow were lovely and interesting hosts. She had a full garden of delicious vegetables and herbs, funny and cute chickens running all through the farm,  she showed me how to make a proper fire (we still need to practice). The bathroom was clean with  all sorts  of sanitizer options, the little home was fascinating, cozy and definitely a whole experience on its own (it felt straight out  of Little Women). Overall it was just a  beautiful farm, full of nooks and crannies,  lots of fun activities throughout the farm and plenty of chairs to sit in different areas and enjoy the beautiful  views. Whether it's sunny or golden hour or even a dramatic thunderstorm, everything is beautiful. Oh it's  also just in a great area, that feels like  a vision into the past, a time capsule where not too much has changed when the rest of the modern world seems a bit too chaotic. It's also near the best ice cream place ever (Misty Meadow Farm Creamery).

A Visit Like No Other
What I enjoyed the most about visiting Victorian Summer Kitchen was the incredible level of hospitality offered by Tamara. Even before we visited Tam shared important information with us about what to bring as well as weather updates and places nearby to visit. When we arrived, Tam was so welcoming to all of us and even had a campfire started for us since we arrived in the evening. Our accommodations were beautifully unique, rustic, and unlike anyplace we've ever stayed. My 7 year old enjoyed all the antiques, having a chance to sleep in the loft and playing with Tam's sweet dog and cats on the farm. Tam made time to greet us each morning and have a chat with us around a pot of coffee while we planned our day. Despite the heat advisory on the weekend that we traveled, the evenings were cool and breezy since the farm sits atop a hill. Will be returning for sure next summer. 5 stars for Victorian summer kitchen, a truly unique place!

Staying at Tam’s farm really made our road trip special. We loved interacting with the animals, taking the short hike with Tam to the apple orchard, and of course the many many great conversations we had, some by the campfire Tam again generously treated us to. The Victorian house itself is such a lovely quaint structure, and the scenery around is unbelievably serene. Tam also give some seriously amazing recommendations for nearby attractions. Tam, thank you for this awesome experience - please let us know if you are ever in China, India or California :)

Quaint, artsy, and fun!
Our family had a wonderful time staying at Tam's summer kitchen. Our children, 8 and 11, enjoyed playing on the tree swing, chasing Tam's dog, Willow, collecting eggs and snuggling with chickens, and feasting on fresh cherry tomatoes. Tam was a welcoming host and the summer kitchen was a cute little spot to spend the night. We did not spend a lot of time on the property, but we would definitely consider staying again.

VICTORIAN SUMMER KITCHEN CURIOSITY
Victorian mountain idyll
One of the highlights of the trip began even before arriving at the camp site, with a drive west through the mountains on and then north up to Ft Ritchie, which Tamara had recommended. Fascinating history and well worth a side trip. The picturesque 19C Victorian Farm is set on a hill, surrounded by fields of corn and soybeans and a large dairy farm next door. The hostess and her dog and several cats were very welcoming, and I immediately felt right at home, and learned a lot about life and history in Washington County during the stay. The original outbuildings are quite striking in their utility and decor, including guest quarters, an art studio, and the chicken house, all of which reminded me of “Le Grand Meaulne” and Augustin’s discovery of “the lost domain”. I had asked in advance about sleeping in my roof top tent rather than indoors, and settled in an ideal spot among several large shade trees, adjacent to a large backyard with beautiful flower beds, a fire ring, and shady sitting area. And just a short walk to the outhouse and the most unusually appointed composting camp toilet I have ever seen, set in a gold wooden chair, indeed like sitting on a throne. There were cool breezes even in the heat of the day, and then comfortably chilly for sleeping at night. A long morning walk along the lightly trafficked farm to market road provided a closer look of surrounding farms and fields with the mountains in view. And the site has a 360 view of the night sky, with beautiful sunrises over the mountains, and a glorious rainbow after a brief shower one evening. All in all an excellent choice for a midweek stay, highly recommended. Many thanks again for the hospitality!

Wonderful Vacation!
Cloud 9 Farm was a delightful place to spend a few days. Tam was an amazing host! We made use of the Victorian Summer Kitchen and the barn for accommodations. We were quite comfortable for the time we spent there. It is very quiet, no noises to disturb us either during the day or at night. It was enjoyable to start the day under the big tree with a cup of coffee, watching the countryside wake up. Our sons ages, 7 and 9 enjoyed the activities of the Farm, helping to collect the eggs, feed the chickens, gather beetles from the newly planted trees to feed the chickens, and gather blueberries. In addition to work activities, there was basketball, a swing, and lots of paper and items to use to create some great artwork. When we weren’t out at the National Parks hiking and visiting the sites, the boys were busy all the time. It is a wonderful place to stay and highly recommend!
