This property and farm has been in our family for 3 generations. In 1964 my grandfather started the campground due to limited camping at New Germany. My father tells stories of it being filled with guests all summer long! Over the years there was few upgrades and now it's in need of a facelift. Landscaping, electric upgrades and bathhouse remodels were completed Spring 2021. We will continue to renovate in phases it's been a labor of love, but you can still see the beauty of this rural location and enjoy the peace and quiet. Hope you enjoy your stay. Lots of trees, shade and nature. It's located near New Germany State Park, 1.5 miles by car, less than a mile by foot. The state park has a lake and hiking trails. Garrett County has so much to offer, waterfalls, lakes, hiking, skiing, Amish gifts, history, fresh air, beautiful scenery. The campground was first started in 1964 by my grandparents, we are currently completing renovations in phases.

Antique shopping abounds in the nearby charming, little town of New Market. So you're hungry and have a hankering for local cuisine? Take a five minute drive to the quaint downtown of Union Bridge and visit one of the three delicious family run restaurants. Homemade ice cream is found at Baugher's and Hoffmans in Westminster. Baugher's Orchard has "pick your own" available. There is a mini farm animal petting zoo at the orchard. Peaceful camping with privacy on a 160-acre historic farm! Minutes from Harpers Ferry, Antietam Battlefield and the C&O Canal to name a few. We are within an hour of Gettysburg and within an hour and a half of DC if you're planning a day trip. We have a prime central location with close access to so many things to do. This beautiful property is nestled in a valley between Elk Ridge and South Mountain with incredible sunrises, sunsets and starlit night skies. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable. Please be aware that some may not have great cell service and as noted in the amenity section we do not have WiFi at any of the sites yet. It is something we are looking into for the future. If something is urgent you should be able to pick up WiFi near the tenant house and a password can be provided for you to try.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out. First listing actually has several options. For large campers/coach/fifth wheelers the area by the tractor shed will be the best. Around the corner there's two other choices both with firepits which will accommodate units up to 40 feet depending on your backing/maneuvering skills. Walk out to the fishing pond, or follow the trails around the pastures to meet the cattle grazing. We have Scottish Highlands and Black Angus grazing as well as Alpacas. We also have beautiful peacocks on the property. We are a working farm so expect to see tractors and you may even see us baling hay or tending to the cattle. You may smell some animal smells which we work at keeping to a minimum but again, we are a working farm. It’s a true farm experience. Also, please keep in mind that during warm weather you may encounter some bugs. Gnats and flies are always a possibility and of course at times they can be worse than others. That can always be a possibility when camping or being outdoors. Bring bug spray, citronella and anything else to help with insects. If you stay by the pond you may hear frogs which personally I enjoy hearing but some may not. Consider bringing a generator and run a fan if you think the sound might bother you or some way to block sounds. We enjoy talking to our guests so feel free to stop us for a chat. At the RV sites you have 30 and 50 amp power as well as water. All the water spickets are potable and drinkable. Please be aware that some may not have great cell service and as noted in the amenity section we do not have WiFi at any of the sites yet. It is something we are looking into for the future. If something is urgent you should be able to pick up WiFi near the tenant house and a password can be provided for you to try.

Explore approximately 2 miles of moderate to intense loop hiking trails and gravel roads, meandering past half a dozen year-round streams and foot-long waterfalls teeming with salamanders, frogs, and crayfish. Experience the vibrant wildlife that inhabits our surroundings, from daily sightings of deer and squirrels to nightly visits from barred owls and bats. Keep an eye out for occasional appearances by turkey, sapsuckers, woodpeckers, porcupines, raccoons, foxes, and coyotes, with the possibility of encountering a black bear annually and even a rare sighting of a mountain lion. During March through June, lucky visitors may stumble upon up to 8-inch black morel mushrooms, while certain years bring the elusive cicada and their deafening buzz. Evergreen Grove Campsite was the first Hipcamp site I've stayed at and Kristen's space was exactly what the description and pictures implied. The Water Shed was convenient and had all the things I needed. There was even firewood for the fire pit. The space was close to Kristen's house, but still peaceful. Kristen was sweet and greeted me once I arrived. There were hikes within walkable distance. My only regret is that I'd stayed two nights instead of one!

My husband, myself, our kids and grandkids all met up at this amazing farm just overnight for a wonderful and rare campfire get together, but wished we had stayed longer. The grandkids loved all the animals but especially Zeus, the big, super sweet dog of the property! The expansive property accommodates RVs well with plenty of space to be private yet camp amongst the animals. Our camp host greeted us, got us set up with power, and told us all about the workings of the farm and all that was available to us on the property. These extras that you don’t normally get at most Hipcamp properties was really cool! A barn with a restroom and gathering area where chili was available the night we were there along with many homemade and local goodies like shortbread cookies, honey, dried lavender sachets and produce for purchase. We happily donated a small amount toward taking care of the rescued animals on the farm. A couple of our kids and their families live in the area so we will definitely be back! Thanks Juanita it was a pleasure!!

We visited the Strawberry Crossroads in early Nov to enjoy the fall foliage. We rented one of the small wooden cabins, which had 6 individual bunks with mats, a small fridge, a small table, a trash can, ceiling light and fan, and a cooler/heater. The land was beautiful with a lovely creek and a cute wooden bridge that crosses over it. We enjoyed the goats and chickens, and just the overall beautiful nature. The hosts were very responsive, kind, and relaxed. We had a great time and will recommend to friends/family.

I love that it's wooded and feels secluded, even though Taneytown is only a few minutes away. The farm and property is picturesque, especially in the fall. It's seems like something more out of a movie than real life. We will definitely be back again :)

We tent-camped at Peaceful Pond for the second year in a row with my two sons (14 and 11) and our dog, and it was exactly the reset we needed. We’re from right outside DC, so the quiet out here felt almost unreal. Aside from the occasional cow mooing or dog barking , it was just us and the farm. The best part was the simple stuff: morning coffee by the pond, hanging around the fire, making s’mores, and having the kind of deeper conversations you only get when everyone’s finally off their screens. It’s the kind of place that slows you down without trying. Highly recommend for anyone looking for calm, space, and an easy, comfortable spot to camp.

Derek, the owner, is always incredibly accommodating and goes above and beyond to make sure guests have everything they need. We stayed at the pond campsite and it was everything we wanted. I was hoping it was slightly further away from cars as you can hear the occasional sirens and the particularly loud cars, but most of the sounds of traffic were gone and replaced by farm sounds. We loved hearing the cows talk to each other. The host was kind and polite, their general store has candy, firewood, hamburgers, etc. And it's 24 hours, honor system, so if we ran out of wood for our fire at 11pm we could walk right over and cashapp her, although we didn't need that this time. Will probably do that next time to save car space from bringing our own firewood. And there will be a next time! Only 16 mins away from Harpers Ferry, the grass/dirt road was easy for my tiny car to handle (though may be different in the rain), the Porta potty at our site was far enough away that we couldn't smell it or hear each other use it (not that it smelled much anyway, very well maintained, even had toilet paper), but close enough that it was extremely convenient. You couldn't hear any other campers or those at the air BnB on the property. I really have no bad things to say about this place.
