Camp is on 50 acres with a pink marked trail to Red Bank Creek on the western border and back up through a hemlock forest along south border. A small stream runs through the property and forms a rocky delta in Red Bank Creek. All camp sites are on the eastern border and close to the main road to access property. Hike, enjoy the sound of the stream tickling through property, stargaze, or rest, watch nature's critters, read or just relax in a hammock. No hunting on property but fishing permitted along "river" aka Red Bank Creek. Please keep fires in firepit and noise levels low. Set up to be most natural, minimal mowing, and sites meant to be more private. We let you know if you have others on property. No running water or flush toilets on sites unless in your self-contained camper. A compost loo provided. Lots of kindling can be easily gathered for a fire. Consider ordering some ahead of time if it has been raining though. There is a tarp and a wheelbarrow to collect logs and kindling and move to your site.

The rich history of Burnhead Grazings is enveloped in a love for God's creation. Dr. Gib and Emmy Lou McLaughlin purchased Burnhead, which is Gaelic for the head of the stream, from William H. Stevens. The once pasture for Hilltop Dairy's cows became a pasture for sheep. Gib and Emmy had been in search of land for years after getting their first border collie and falling in love with the Shepherd lifestyle. Gib trained dozens of border collies to work the sheep and did hundreds of demonstrations highlighting the herding abilities of the collie across the country. Their love for Scotland and the border collie took them Scotland on many occasions. Burnhead Grazings is a snapshot of Scotland, "in bye" or close to, the beautiful college town of Indiana, PA. Less than two miles from two hotels, three miles from downtown, and within minutes from Amish country, it is amazing that this respite still exists so close to civilization. Gib and Emmy's daughter, Moire McLaughlin Bridges and her husband Randy have endeavored to bring the sheep back to Burnhead Grazings and to continue the family tradition as well as to share in the experience. You can listen to an interview on The Christian Witness Program on this page for some history about Moire and Randy in Tennessee where they were residing before coming to Indiana. They are producing lamb, wool for spinning and felting, and hay and are opening up the farm for small events such as weddings or family reunions. Moire is also the author and illustrator of a children's book available for sale on iBooks called Sissy & The King. In November of 2014, with the help of Hilltop Baptist Church and many others, they began hosting an event, LIFE Nativity, the weekend before Thanksgiving, which benefits Life-Way Pregnancy Center. Moire is also a fine artist and gives classes on wool felting. Ask about signing up for a class or book a private felting party.

We are located in beautiful Clearfield county Pennysalvina. Our farm is on over 150 acres. It’s has been in the family for generations. It has beautiful farm views with wooded areas. There is lots of wildlife to see. Including bear, bobcat, deer, eagles, fishers, and many other species. We have lots of hiking trails and our property also boarders state game lands. It’s a short drive to the Susquehanna River and other parks. You can also enjoy the cows, goats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, and turkeys at the farm. Contact the host and set up a time to visit and feed the animals. Learn more about our family farm and the animals. We also have a sawmill and wood shop. Nearby is Bilgers Rocks, Rock Run Atv Park, Prince Gallitzin State Park, the Susquehanna River, and many other fantastic outdoor activities. It’s a place to unwind and relax. And connect with nature. This is in a very rural part of Pennsylvania and camping in the winter weather can be difficult. So please prepare yourself with additional sleeping bags for winter. The tent is heated but because of the unpredictable and sometimes dangerous weather you need to be prepared. The bathroom is also outdoors so there will not be a shower provided till after the freezing weather. And the loo is not heated. It is also recommended that you have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive to get to the campsite in the winter. It is possible to walk from road to site. But you should consider this when booking. RTR is a very beautiful place in the winter but it can also be dangerous if you’re not prepared.

All ready for your summer expedition! Completely sealed up and draft free. Still a very primitive site, but the interior now keeps in the warmth from the fireplace. A set of bunk beds and a 4 seat table as well as some cots makes it work for up to 6 people. Plenty of tent area around of you have a bigger group! Sunnyday's farm and forest was a Christmas tree farm in the 1950's. I've owned it for the last 40 years and it is now a horse farm with pastures and woods. Rustic area of 25 acres of pastures and forest bordering a hundred of acres of railroad and municipal forest. Great for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking. 1.5 miles from Deer Lakes park which has fishing, hiking, mountain biking, frisbee course and a great playground. The Allegheny river, judged to be one of the cleanest in the country, is just 6 miles away. Harrison Hills park offers great hiking along the river and an occasional river otter. The Rachel Carson Trail and Baker trail are just a few miles away. It is a secluded log cabin in the woods on top of a hill overlooking a pasture. It is a very primitive cabin with a fireplace, brick floor, large porch, fabric interior and no chinking in the logs. We provide a bunk bed and cots and a picnic table. There is a large grassy area in front of the cabin for tents. There is no vehicle access, no electricity and no water at the cabin, but LOTS of downed wood for fires. There are horses, goats, chickens, ducks and a pig that roam the pastures. The cabin is about 300 yards from the parking area up a fairly steep hill, but the location is worth the walk! If you're stopping with an RV or trailer we have ample parking near the road and have overnight accommodations for horses Great place for a stopover.

If I had the opportunity to spend my days out here, I would! The horses all have a story and they'll tell you if you listen. Build a rapport, build trust and you'll have them running up to you to chat in their own little language. Skye will speak through her eyes and while she's been through a lot, she just wants love. The goats do the goat thing and the pig is adorbs. He runs the farm. We stayed in the cabin and to be honest, the spiders kept the mosquitoes down, but they intimidated me so we pitched a tent by the fire. Bugs were there, but we didn't mind them outside. We made friends with a stick bug that lives on the cabin. The whole property is super cute, but it's remote. It's camping. It's an off grid cabin. The shower water was hot and pressure was good. Gerry went above and beyond due to our situation and everything falling apart at the time of booking. Literally, this camp trip rejuvenated my soul when we were in a dark place. The trouble still is present, but we are relaxed enough to tread on. We both already miss the horses. Literally heaven in earth as long as you're not a super priss. Even then, just enjoy the nature and the little slice of paradise. The hike up the hill is steep and wasn't easy. Definitely a hike but so worth it. Gratitude. Anyone who can tip him a million dollars for us, do it.

Weekend Trip to Tiny Home on the Hill

We love to tent camp, but weather looked rainy so we opted for somewhere with a roof. We fell in love with this place! The house is adorable and clean with a huge front porch overlooking a flat yard that was great for kids. Behind the house is a fire pit area with cover, and there are plenty of walking paths for adventure and to get out and moving. Completely secluded and quiet. If you have a dog, bring a water and food bowl, otherwise the house is stocked with everything you could need. Notes is you’re traveling with kids (ours are 7 and 3)- the climb to the lofted beds is steep, but our kids figured it out and managed not to hurt themselves. There’s a twin daybed on the main floor that’s an alternative option. Shower was hot. Stepstool in the bathroom. Cute ice cream shop 10-15 min away. It was fantastic!

Weekend Trip to Glamping Cabins in Cook Forest

My girlfriend and I had an amazing weekend! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, the store had just about everything you would need for camping. We had cabin 3 and it was incredibly clean. No dust, bugs or mold. The hot tub was also spotless and very well taken care of. One of the things we loved most about it was how quiet it was, yes theres other cabins near by but we didnt feel like we were being watched or bothered. We absolutely want to come back for an extended stay at some point! The only things I would recommend or change about the place is the bed and shower. The bed was wayyyyy too soft and we would wake up with sore backs due to lack of support in the mattress. The last thing I would change is that the shower could really use some type of filter, the water did have bit of a sulfer smell too it and you didnt really feel all that clean after getting out. Otherwise this place was perfect!

Larry's tiny home and large covered area was perfect for my family and me! My parents stayed in the tiny house and my husband and I camped out back in the tent. Even though it rained pretty heavily, we were warm and dry under the covered pavilion. We will absolutely be back!

Weekend Trip to Sunnyday's Forest

I spent two nights in the hayloft. An affordable stay which was everything I needed at the time and if you need a place to stay like this, in this area, I can't recommend it enough. Gerard is very communicative, with plenty of time to prepare messaged with everything you need to know for the stay, and gave some great recommendations for stuff in the area which was very helpful. The place is beautiful and I was so happy every morning waking up before sunrise and being around the animals. Surrounded by the woods and spots of fog. I should also say Gerard is a welcoming host. Despite some medical complications with the horses during my stay (beyond anyone's control) he made time to get me situated. I can't stress enough how patient and gracious a host he was in the face of some rough stuff. Looking forward to staying here again when I need to make it out to Western, PA.

First time using hipcamp. Decided to take an impromptu camping trip with my son and couldn’t have had a more enjoyable experience. Gerry was a wonderful host but his well cared for animals really stole the show. The site does sit up on a hill, with somewhat rough terrain, so folks with mobility issues might be challenged. Thanks for a great experience, we’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Mountain View Camping

The a frame was super cute, kept us dry, and the the restroom set up was really convenient. The land is beautiful, with a little stream, mossy and lush. No complaints other than the aframe is not sealed like a tent would be, so there were a lot of bugs in there all night. Not just mosquitoes or flies but spiders, caterpillars, slugs, ect. There is a really nice mattress in there, but its a single so it makes the set up much better suited to one person. Although he did provide a pretty nice inflatable camp pad for the second person, just was not the comfiest or most roomy but thats to be expected and of no fault to the host. There is a bit of a walk down a trail from the parking area to the camping area. The host was kind and very communicative.
