This place is so special it is hard to tell others about it. It is a place you would want to gate keep! The water was so cool. The camp sites were perfection. The bathroom was great. It felt so safe. This place is magical.

We were looking for a one night place to camp close to Richmond and this exceeded our expectations. Even though we were in an urban setting, it really did feel like we were out in the woods. It was quiet and peaceful. The sound of the creek, frogs and crickets made for a perfect evening. I was a little concerned about the composting toilet but it was very clean, well maintained with no smell.

Perfect getaway in nature while still being part of the city. The thoughtfulness of the campsites and amenities speak volumes about the sincere hospitality of the host - Isabella and family.
My camper broke down (the crank broke, so it wouldn't close) while staying here, and Isabella showed me patience and compassion when I needed it most.
I highly recommend checking out this neat little gem in the heart of Richmond... Truly a one of a kind in the city.

Easy access, great location, and amazing hospitality. So many great amenities. The mosquitos are pretty bad this time of year but she even had bug spray in the bathroom.

This is a beautiful camp spot close to home. There is a ton of shade, and a creek, hiking trail and park are steps from the site. Site W is pretty private. It had space for at least 2 tents, a picnic table, chairs and a firepit. There was even a hammock set up for lounging. The firewood was definitely a bonus! This was everything we needed for our quick getaway, and I can't wait to go back again!

Me and my family had a blast for our sons 5th birthday! The grounds are safe, clean and you have direct access to a private part of the stream and local trails and attractions. Definitely planning a next trip soon with a youth group! Thank you so much Isabelle!!!

Isabella was super accommodating! We live close and due to some weird weather we didn’t sleep at the campsite but we went the next morning for breakfast and to enjoy the creek with our dog. The campsite is laid out really well and has everything you need. It’s a beautiful spot!

What a lovely lil site…private, yet close to everything we wanted to do in Richmond. This is our camping place from now on when we return to the area! The compost toilet house and outdoor shower are extras that make primitive camping doable. You won’t regret a stay here!

Loved it! 10/10. All though the site was in “the city” it felt like we were miles and miles away. As well as the other camp site being directly other side of the outhouse- it felt very secluded. They have bamboo fences in all the right places to create more privacy. The river was amazing, we walked it all the way down to the James River and back. The outhouse was extremely well kept. Cute coffee place just a 5 minute walk from the site, everything you need right around you! Highly recommend.

Everything was perfect except the rain but, noone can change that!! The site was thoughtfully laid out and very private. Everything you need is there, kindling, dry firewood, and the rocks by the creek are the perfect place to sit and meditate. Very calming.

Talk about a hidden gem!!! I am still astonished that this campground was in Richmond! It looks like you are out camping in the mountains somewhere. The spot is next to a huge nature park, surrounded by lovely woods and a picturesque creek. It is clean, well maintained, and secluded. Someone else was in the other site, but I never saw them. The owner came to say hello once and was very friendly. There is a reason that this place is rated as one of the top sites in the state. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Camp was amazing! Very peaceful and beautiful. Love that there was a bathroom, shower, and water access. Ricky Bobby was an extra added bonus. 😂
Isabella was extremely flexible with us especially since we were hoping to stay Friday and Saturday night but Friday was booked up. We were able to communicate and due to a last minute cancellation, we were able to stay both nights. 110% would recommend staying at this site!!

This hipcamp was utterly charming. We came to Richmond for our grandson‘s college graduation and did not expect such a lovely little camping area in the middle of the city. It was quiet, our area was small, but private with everything we needed and more. I would highly recommend this hip camp for anyone looking for a quiet place to camp smack in the middle of a big city.

Super mellow spot right in the city next to the woods (end of a street with a park next to it) it’s ideal. Peaceful despite being close to everything.
Would stay again if I’m heading south in the future for sure!

Charming setup. Saw lots of wildlife within a few hours, deers, rabbits, woodpeckers, hawks and a raven..I felt like snow white. Owners are polite and responsive. Pulled right into our site(E).

This site is an absolute gem in the heart of Richmond! Being from Richmond originally it was great to see a part of the city many don't! We lived exploring the creek and relaxing in the extremely well kept site! Please camp here!!

Our family really enjoys this campground. It is one of a kind. It’s also really nice and well kept. If you forget something you can just go buy it nearby and you have city amenities in the woods. We saw 2 deer, a fox and a very precocious pileated woodpecker on our recent visit. Love this spot!!!

The creek was super close to the site! It was nice to take the kids out camping with also the comforts of home (toilet and shower)
And ut was amazing to be able to bring my cast-iron skillets to cook on the fire, too!

Great place to stay while in Richmond. One street off urban city life and you're in the woods. I had a number of deer crossing my path when I pulled in, couldn't figure out where they were going within the city. Isabella was a great communicator.
Might be a tight fit for larger rigs, maybe chat with Isabella about what size she recommends.
