Camping here was great they were so nice and everything was conveniently close. 10/10 would go again

Weekend Trip to Legacy Lake Private Campsite

We loved the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful lake. Very rustic- bring insect repellent.

Very clean. People are friendly. Lots of activities for children. Nice pool.

Weekend Trip to The Wilderness At Belmead

This campground is definitely a hidden gem! Tons of space, full hookups, trails, and a great place for family gatherings. We were at site 11 which was secluded and facing the trees. The bathhouse was adorable with plenty of space. They have a gazebo with lots of picnic tables perfect for parties. The grassy area between the campground and the gazebo is big enough for multiple games of soccer / badminton / volleyball …anything you can think of. There’s hiking, the James River and what appears to be a dog washing area. Also a community fire pit. Can’t wait to come back!

3 nights at Reckless Raven Farm

The land was beautiful and so peaceful. The bell tent was huge and so comfortable. Lacie and her husband were so kind and friendly. Their Blue Heeler is adorable and a complete sweetie. She hung out with my dog and myself for an afternoon. It was a very hot weekend, the outdoor shower was essential. Their animals are cute and it was a lot of fun to meet the sheep and goats. I just got home today and already am planning my next trip out there!

Weekend Trip to Solitude at Thornton Farm

This was a great camping spot. Marvin was very welcoming and accommodating. A beautiful quiet place to set up camp for a couple of nights.

4 nights at Peace Hill Farm

Absolutely loved the place, very quiet, well kept, with forest and grazing area along with a beautiful garden as your surrounding. Bonus were the animals. Campsite was perfect size. Bonus was being able to use facilities for personnel care. Was very easy to reserve a site. And very convenient to historical sites.

1 night at Moonrise Farmstead

The hosts mowed the site on the day of our arrival which was very nice of them. We stayed for one night on our road trip and we enjoyed the site.

1 night at Cornerstone Farm

Nice quiet, clean, spacious spot on the edge of one of their farm fields. Picnic table and fire pit set up there for campers to use. It was absolutely perfect for someone like me driving down south needing a last minute spot to pitch a tent for the night, in order to catch some shut eye before hitting the toad again at 6am.

1 night at City Camp on Reedy Creek

We were looking for a one night place to camp close to Richmond and this exceeded our expectations. Even though we were in an urban setting, it really did feel like we were out in the woods. It was quiet and peaceful. The sound of the creek, frogs and crickets made for a perfect evening. I was a little concerned about the composting toilet but it was very clean, well maintained with no smell.

2 nights at Solitude at Thornton Farm

This is my 6th hipcamp adventure (so I feel totally qualified to do this review 😄 🤣). I camped with 3 other people and 3 dogs. We loved the spot. Because we were the only tent campers, it was very private and we got to pick which spot we set up in. We stayed in site 2 whoch was the biggest and most shaded(thankfully because it was HOTTTT). Marvin was great, called me as soon as we got there to let me know he was busy but would be by soon. His place is BEAUTIFUL 😍. Only thing I wish was different was a place to swim to cool off... but that's the only "complaint". Definitely go rest it out for yourself, you won't be disappointed 💕

1 night at Peace Hill Farm

We enjoyed this spot! It was very nice to have a bathroom and shower available to use. We only stayed for one night but we would recommend.

Weekend Trip to City Camp on Reedy Creek

This place is so special it is hard to tell others about it. It is a place you would want to gate keep! The water was so cool. The camp sites were perfection. The bathroom was great. It felt so safe. This place is magical.

Weekend Trip to Reckless Raven Farm

We had such an awesome trip! We felt so comfortable with our dog and their land. We spent the day fishing and relaxing. They provided everything we could have needed and more. Can't wait to come back!

4 nights at Riverdale Farms

We enjoyed our stay at Riverdale farms, we rented both sites for full privacy! It was a beautiful property and we parked our camper right in front of the river. There were awesome concrete steps for access to the river and our kid enjoyed playing in the water. If we hadn't rented both sites, the second one is fairly close and shares water access. But they did say they had plans to make more privacy and a second set of stairs to the water in the future. The fishing was not very exciting but that could just be due to the water level or time of year. As for any of the noises mentioned in other reviews. We hardly heard the highway, trains or amusement park so we don't feel any of those were a bother at all. The gun range is on the same farm and a few hundred yards away so safety was not a concern at all since it is facing a different direction. But it was pretty loud when multiple people were shooting at once and our dog was not a fan of it at all. As we were leaving on Saturday morning it looked like they were setting up for a class on the range that would've been little loud, so that worked out well that we were leaving. Overall I would recommend this hipcamp since it was beautiful and mostly peaceful with great water access, plus the river was very clear and kid friendly for swimming.

2 nights at Peace Hill Farm

I loved tent camping on Sarah’s land. The views were beautiful. There was a site next to us with people there, but they were a relatively far away and we could not hear them.

3 nights at City Camp on Reedy Creek

Perfect getaway in nature while still being part of the city. The thoughtfulness of the campsites and amenities speak volumes about the sincere hospitality of the host - Isabella and family. My camper broke down (the crank broke, so it wouldn't close) while staying here, and Isabella showed me patience and compassion when I needed it most. I highly recommend checking out this neat little gem in the heart of Richmond... Truly a one of a kind in the city.

2 nights at City Camp on Reedy Creek

Easy access, great location, and amazing hospitality. So many great amenities. The mosquitos are pretty bad this time of year but she even had bug spray in the bathroom.

1 night at Flower & Fields Farm

Tiffany's camp is magical. There were small, edible mushrooms spawning everywhere. The site was full of herbs and natives, and otherwise beautiful, thriving plants. You can feel the love, thought, and care that went into creating this space. I can't wait to come back and stay more than one night
