Bald Eagles have been seen on April 27th, 2026! The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in both sunny and rainy weather. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system that allows guests and dogs to be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned frequently. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, etc. I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky. PMany of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful, please. Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog-friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

Once you arrive at my address... It can be a little tricky. I have 2 driveway entrances. The first entrance that you come to, is the one that is used for hip campers. There is a sign that says"Rocky Top". This is a gravel drive. This drive is a little steep. You just want to make sure that once you start up, you keep going and don't stop until you reach the top. If for some reason you pass that entrance, or you don't feel comfortable going up that drive, feel free to use the asphalt drive. Once you reach the top of the Hill, everything starts leveling out. You will see a barn on your right and a shed on your left, just continue on the gravel Road, site 1 will be the first one you come to on your left. Continue on and you will pass the outhouse on your right and then you will see mountain view straight across from the outhouse.

Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and wildflowers galore. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.25 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Ontop.camp The climb up sunrise mountain is bumpy, be warned, and do adhere to the conversation and guidance of the host on the call or in person meeting preclimb. Even though the section titled “the climb” is passed each and every visit by capable awdr and 4wdr vehicles, this does not mean everyone is capable of picking a thought out path. Thankfully everyone of our guest have been wonderful in the over 8 years with zero damage to their vehicles. We have three children – Emma Grace and Baxter (twins) and Elena Jo. As a family, we enjoy canoeing, kayaking and camping. We live 9 miles from Tellurian on a family farm. We have always enjoyed quiet secluded campsites, river floats and sitting by the river. After years of looking all over the mountains for a river property we could call our own, our favorite spot on the river came up for sale. It just so happened it was nearly halfway between where we both grew up. After many sleepless nights worrying if we could succeed or not (it was much larger than properties we had been looking for), we bought it! Our favorite spot on the river was virtually inaccessible by any way other than floating. But after hundreds of hours of hard work, we think we have developed a place where others too can enjoy the things we do about the property. We dream big and Tellurian remains a work in progress, but we feel we have created a place where folks can enjoy the peacefulness of nature, the river and incredible views. Get away from the crowds. On 300 beautiful acres once operated as a children's summer adventure camp.. There are 3 primitive campsites, 2 cottages, and a horse sanctuary. The campsites are spaced out around the property for privacy. There are port-a-potties. There may occasionally be a real bathroom available. 4WD or AWD is recommended for all sites due to 1/2 mile gravel road and then completely off road for a short distance. Or, if you are bringing 2WD, there is plenty of parking and then walk to your campsite. We don't recommend trying to bring large RV's due to the access. We have not had a problem with Black Bears on the property. Help us keep it that way. Do not store or keep food in your tent. Don't sleep with food. Keep in mind bears are omnivores much like us. They eat mostly plants but also eat meat. For more info on bear safety, visit www.bearwise.org Winter camping is encouraged with free firewood. However, you will probably need to park on the gravel and walk to your campsite to limit soil erosion of the off-road trail. Pets are welcome only at some sites, but please please let us know you are bringing them and they will need to be leashed due to other animals. A large part of the property is forest with hiking trails, creeks, and wildlife. You can see wildflowers and lightning bugs in season along with deer, turkey, and horses. And all of our spots have a great view of the sky! We're not far from the Bare Dark Sky Observatory. The grass horse arena and the pond were originally built for the summer camp. The pond is stocked with bass and bluegill and has a chorus of bullfrogs in summer. The arena is flat and has a long range mountain view all the way to Mt. Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi). There are also a meadow spot encircled by trees.

The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has been set up as conservation easement protected land in '23. We had an awesome stay here with Brady. Everything was exactly as advertised. Site 9 was absolutely breathtaking. The sunsets and sunrises were unreal. Also seems to be a hawk living nearby as it would soar over our campsite each morning and then glide out over the valley. Absolutely awesome. Brady was so great. We really enjoyed getting to meet and chat with him. Super friendly and helpful. Made sure we were settled in well and got us a great map to navigate the area - hikes, lakes, etc. The location is gorgeous. Very remote, which is what we were looking for. But close to the Cherohala Skyway, Joyce Kilmer, Lake Santeetlah and of course fishing right on snowbird creek. We couldn't recommend the place enough and plan to come back as soon as we're able. Thanks for a great stay, Brady!

The site was inviting and well maintained. Having a broom was a plus! Sleeping under the stars and listening to the roar of the water made the trip well worth it.

Absolutely amazing campground. Location is 10 out of 10. Go up river for a mile or so for some winding swamps before it becomes a more straightforward river. The cove right by the campsite has the most impressive cypresses nearby. The backwaters near site 1 are beautiful and fun to crawl into. The current isn't too strong, my 70 year old dad could go a few miles upriver no problem. The sites are well maintained, the community area is superb, the beach and boat launch is beautiful, and wildlife is incredible! We will be back for sure. While you're in the area, definitely put in at Henrys Landing and paddle down through the swamp towards the Hunt's Bluff campground. 12 miles total, we did it in 4 hours, but I'd recommend at least 6-8 for a relaxed trip and time in the swamp. Ask Lisa for Todd's number from Cape Fear Paddle (or go to capefearpaddle.com), as Todd will rent you kayaks, dropped off and picked up from the campsite for the cheapest rate in the state. Amazing service and it goes hand in hand with Lisa's amazing home.

We absolutely loved heartstone! The gravel road is a bit long and you need to go very slow because it is quite bumpy, but nothing my Subaru couldn’t handle! The setting is extremely peaceful and remote, with the canopy forest providing a ton of shade and keeping it cool even in mid August! I’ve never been somewhere so beautiful and restorative. We can’t wait to come back! Thanks for sharing your land with us Brian :)

We always have the absolute best time here. At this point, coming back feels less like a camping trip and more like returning to our designated reset button. 😂 It was hot this time, so we did what any reasonable adults would do: inflated the dock, grabbed the beverages, got in the water, and basically refused to leave. Then a rainstorm rolled through. Did we get out? Absolutely not. We were already wet. The sky was just contributing. 😂🌧️🍹 So there we stayed, floating around in the rain like this was completely normal behavior and honestly having the best time. That’s what we love about this place. We show up, unplug, laugh a lot, spend way too much time in the water, and somehow leave feeling completely refreshed. Another perfect trip in the books. Already counting down until we can come back. 🏕️🌊❤️

Peaceful, beautiful and perfect. 5G cell service. The trees by the river provided wonderful shade and kept us cool even in this 90 degree humid weather. We saw cows in the river, humming birds not even 15 feet away and even heard the donkeys yelling around 5pm when it was feeding time. The ground by the river was good and flat for our tent with no sticks or rocks to worry about. We can't wait to come back.

Weekend Trip to The Rocky Knoll

We recently took our teardrop camper up to The Rocky Knoll for a quick getaway, and it was exactly what we needed. Even though the site is situated near a neighborhood, it maintains a fantastic sense of privacy and offers a great view of the Sauratown Mountains. It makes for an excellent basecamp if you're exploring Hanging Rock, Belews Lake, or any of the nearby state parks. The location is super convenient with a couple of gas stations and a grocery store close by—though stepping into the local Ingles felt like walking right back into 1983! We got hit by a quick thunderboomer of a storm that made the onsite camp wood a bit stubborn to light, so it was a huge plus that the nearby convenience store sold dry firewood. Once we got the fire going, we settled in for a great camp-side meal cooked over the coals. Despite the usual high heat and heavy humidity of a North Carolina summer, we were treated to a wonderfully cool breeze all evening. I definitely recommend this spot to anyone passing through, looking for a solid basecamp for the state parks, or just needing a quick, peaceful escape!

Weekend Trip to Starlight Hills

This is a nice, clean campsite that is great for a weekend jaunt. Directions to the property were clear and the host was responsive. Camp site 1 has ample room for at least 3 small to medium tents. I timed my visit with a meteor shower, but alas, the stars were not aligned for good viewing that night! Site one is in the trees so did not have good star viewing, but I did get a good viewing of the sunset from the grill area! This area had lots of seating and open space. I appreciated the path lights on the way back down to my campsite because I can get lost in a straight line. Next time I want to see the stars I will spring for one of the yurts or the geodesic domes as these have much nicer viewing areas and are really where it's at. These sites had fewer mosquitos as well. The trail on the site was OK as far as hiking goes. I did enjoyed seeing wildlife such as wildflowers, deer and tons of types of fungi on the trail. I would recommend the yurt campsites to friends.
