Beautiful, secluded property in Jim Thorpe, PA. Scott got our crew all settled in and gave us a thorough overview of the site, the land and what not to miss—the amazing waterfalls on the property. Multiple marked hiking trails on the property offered various levels for your hike. We set up camp and started to explore. There’s a rushing stream running at the bottom of the site that was almost a trail of its own for the teenagers with us as they bounded rock to rock downstream. The site itself is not a true drive in as we had to leave our cars at the to pad and walk gear down. Like most campers, we have our own gear, but Scott and Tina had most of what we needed right there on site. We trekked to the waterfalls the next day which were less than a 1/4 mile away. The falls were beautiful, the water was cold , and there were plenty of photo ops and decks to relax and watch/listen to the Bear Creek Falls. The rope bridge and trails near the falls were challenging enough to make a morning of it. Or next hike later that day was on Scotts Scoot which took us on a memorable encounter with a large black bear. My Doberman didn’t know if she was looking at another dog or not. At about 300 lbs +, the black bear ambled away as my dog looked at me wondering what she just saw. My daughter and her friends were excited at the encounter. Jim Thorpe for ice cream (and a beer at Molly Maguire’s) rounded out our day. Scott was attentive and kind as a good host should be.

My friends and I had an awesome experience at Camp Dietrich! Stunning views, well stocked campsite, and a beautiful creek. Loved having a private campsite and being a short drive away from town. 10/10 can’t wait to come back!

Everything was clean and set up nicely. Well stocked with water and firewood. Scott and his wife were very nice and we would often see them riding around the property and they would stop and chat. They were very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here and me and my family will be back.

Such a beautiful site! Scott and his family were so gracious and helpful. The creek is right next to the main campsite so the sound of the water is super audible. As a camping newbie this was the perfect set-up, I felt comfortable and confident throughout my time there. Hope to return again in the future!

Lovely visit

Beautiful site! Such a lovely, out of the way area. Truly a serene and peaceful experience. Hosts were very kind and informative! Helped with our stuff and offered more than we could need. Cannot wait to visit again in the warmer months and get back in the water!

Camp Dietrich is such a special place. Scott and Christina are wonderful hosts and maintain a gorgeous campsite. Both times we camped here, it rained and it was still our absolute favorite time camping ever. I’m not a big camper typically, but there’s something magical about their woods, stream and waterfalls - it honestly looks like something out of a watercolor painting! The bathroom and kitchen areas are so nicely maintained and the tent itself is perfect. We can’t wait to come back and hope that we catch the rhododendrons in bloom this time!

Definitely saved for repeat visits!

Amazing place. We went on a rainy weekend and the rain didn’t matter one bit! We stayed dry and cozy in the heated tent, enjoyed the hiking and even spent some time in town. I’ve already recommended to several other families. If you’re looking for an easy and relaxing camping weekend that requires minimal to no planning or packing, this is a perfect spot!

I loved camping at Camp Dietrich! The directions were very clear. They had everything you could need! Plus the land was beautiful with the waterfalls close and our secluded campsite next to the stream. We had a chilly, rainy weekend but with the propane heater in the tent and all of the protected areas made it cozy and comfortable.

Perfect place

The pictures absolutely do this place no justice. The water is literally right at the campsites. Scott thought of everything he had things there for us to use that we did not even pack ourselves. The property is amazing The double waterfalls are just a short hike. It was the most peaceful reset that anyone could ask for. We will absolutely be back and recommend that you stay yourself

Amazing camping spot!!!

Amazing weekend camping with my 13 year old daughter. Everything was clean and well equipped for a relaxing and adventurous few days. We even got to see a black bear! Thanks to Scott who is an excellent host. Absolutely will be back and highly recommend.

My boyfriend, dog, and I stayed for two nights at “a creek runs through it” and had a wonderful time. Scott was incredibly friendly and helpful. If you forgot to pack something, there’s a good chance you can borrow it from the check point shed. The site itself was gorgeous and very private. You really can “be one with nature” here. I look forward to visiting again once it warms up, to fully take advantage of the creek and some swimming. Highly recommend this place. Thank you to the Dietrich’s for a wonderful experience!

Girls camping trip 2025

Our girls camping trip to Camp Dietrich this weekend was amazing. Scott met us upon arrival and gave us a full rundown of the campground! The checkpoint shed had everything we needed, wood was ready to buy, and the Coleman stove made cooking every meal so easy. The creek beside our campsite was absolutely magical, and yes, I even took a cold plunge. The tent was super spacious, comfy bunk beds, and the heater kept us warm all night. We hiked to the waterfalls on-site, which were unreal. Already counting down to bringing the kids this summer. Highly recommend, 10/10.

Everything You Need!

Amazing hosts and location. The campsite was clean and ready for us when we arrived, the place is very well maintained. The tent was dry and held heat well- although there's a propane heater, we didn't need it despite the temps being in the 40s at night. It rained a lot the first night but the tent remained dry thanks to the additional covering over the tent area. The foam mattresses were extremely comfortable. I live with chronic back pain and slept very well. The bedding was clean and plenty warm enough (sheets, comforter, extra large fleece blanket). There is a camping lamp provided for the tent, covered area, and bathroom. There are 4 camping chairs beneath each bed in the tent and some extra in the supply shed. I read reviews that said you really only need to bring your clothes and food...that's pretty much right. The supply shed has just about everything else you need. The place was so serene, we didn't see or hear anyone else, only the sound of the moving water. The hosts were amazing and even provided us with additional items we forgot and pumped my flat tire when we were ready to leave. I've already booked it again for next year!

Great set up! I didn’t need to bring anywhere near as much as I did, they have a lot there for you. I wish I had packed more shoes/socks because my kids played by the water and jumped around on the rocks almost the entire time. Single mom here and have to say I felt very safe/comfortable camping at this site with my 3 kids (ages 6, 10, & 12).

Best Camping trip yet!

We had a great time camping with our two Labrador retrievers at "A creek runs through it" camp site. The first thing the dogs did when we left them off the leash, was to run to the creek. We all enjoyed playing in the gentle cascading waters and their sound put us to sleep each night. We enjoyed the hiking trails that were on the property to explore. The water falls were awesome and we even took a dip in the cold spring water, cold plunge was refreshing. The private site made for a relaxing time. It was a great week but we wished we had more time here. We spent a day in Jim Thorpe and rode the train, which allowed dogs for free, each got their own ticket and the staff was super friendly with them. We look forward to coming back, Scott and Christina were great hosts, very welcoming, and had everything one would need to enjoy the great outdoors!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed in Bear Creek Hideaway at Camp Dietrich and absolutely loved it! From the beautiful creekside setting to the cozy cabin, everything was perfect. The kids had a blast exploring the boulders, waterfalls, and trails, and it quickly became one of our favorite family spots. We’ll be coming back twice a year as long as we can! Highly recommend

My dream campsite!

Incredible camping experience! We loved that everything was there for us including a comfy bed! The property and views were phenomenal to explore. We saw a bear on our first walk! We had a great experience with Camp Dietrich! Scott was an absolute pleasure and made us feel comfortable and welcome. He gave us a thorough intro and helped us bring our belongings to our site. He even picked us up and gave us a ride home when he saw us walking home in the rain (with our three kids!) We loved our experience so much that we booked our next trip on our way home!

A true Gem in the Poconos!

Simply outstanding location on the creek in an enchanting setting - beautiful waterfalls and wading pool all in a very private setting. Scott is truly an incredible host greeting us and going over everything in great detail to ensure we were comfortable. His communication was great before and during our stay. He even went the extra mile loaned us the use of a toddler carry backpack which made hiking a breeze with our little guy. Every thing you could need is available. Just bring your bedding and food. We were lacking for nothing. The glampsites are tasteful, serene and private. There is even a small heater available for the chilly nights. The mattresses were surprisingly comfortable which frankly I was not expecting. Cant sing enough praise for this gem in the poconos. We will keep coming back for sure! Ayaz and Sarah.

This was truly the BEST camping experience for our family (two adults, two kids ages 6 & 8, one dog). Everything is pristine and set up in the most thoughtful and convenient way to make camping a breeze even with little kids. Both of mine were apprehensive at best before our trip and now can't wait to go camping again! The pictures of the campsite are not even close to how stunning the area is in person. The creek runs just a few feet from the campsite and is so relaxing to listen to day and night. Scott is a gracious host and even helped us get everything onto our camp to set up when we arrived. You can drive your car right to the site, which is huge. They also provide tons of items to borrow from the shed (bowls/plates, utensils, pots/pans, toys and games, etc.) They have bags of ice, power banks, propane tanks, firewood? and some other essentials for purchase in the shed. The swimming hole and waterfall across the swinging bridge are not to be missed - words really don't even do justice to how gorgeous this whole property is. As another reviewer said, JUST BOOK IT!!

Terrific host and location!!

Absolutely perfect experience. I truly cannot recommend this experience enough. Scott met us at the entrance and gave us a terrific rundown of everything we can expect, and then lead us to our site and helped get us settled in. There are a ton of genuinely top tier trails, and more than one swimming hole with an active waterfall!! I brought my sister along, and it was her first time camping. She is already planning our next camping excursion for the fall. Thank you so much, Scott, for an unforgettable experience.

My husband and I only stayed for one night and it was not enough by far!! Scott was very kind and informative on our arrival, and the amenities were perfect for us. There was a trail map and of course we took our pups down to the waterfall, which has a well maintained rope bridge and sitting area! We will be back, hopefully very soon.
