Outstanding Host & Sites!

Site 3 on Susan’s Christmas tree farm is a must-stay! The property is beautiful, with rolling hills of young trees, a perfectly maintained open field section for your campsite, and a bunch of interweaving walking trails. Our golden retriever loved racing around the trails next to our site and it was so secluded and private that it really feels like you’re all alone out there. The wash sink comes complete with a hose of non-potable water, sponge, soap, wash basin, and hand sanitizer. That was a fantastic addition which exceeded our expectations. The outhouse was as comfortable as you can get using the bathroom outside and the bag system was surprisingly easy to use. The fire pit was great and the cooking grate provided is a nice addition. Also, excellent fire wood! Everything about the site was wonderful. We especially have to thank Susan immensely for driving up to speak with us when I accidentally lost my wedding ring. She offered to call her friend with a metal detector and search the property thoroughly for us as soon as possible. We can tell she really cares about giving her guests a good, comfortable experience and doing what she can to help them. I’m lucky to have found my ring before needing her and her friends to search around for me, but the offer and care she showed meant the world in a stressful moment. Susan’s campsites are a must if you’re in the area!!!

This was a nice end of summer weekend with just a few of us this time around. Spent most of the time swimming in the creek and eating around the fire. My friend brought his son for his first ever camping trip, and he had a great time. Next year we are going to check out the stargazer site in the fall; definitely looking forward to that! Great stay, as always.

We had such a great time at this site! It’s so peaceful and the whole property is beautiful. Susan and her helper Jenn were communicative and helpful, and the site had everything we needed. My dog had the best time running around and playing in the river too. We’re looking forward to going back in the future!

What a magical experience it was tent and van camping at Site 3. Beautiful sunrises, sunsets and grounds. Plenty of shade, sun and space to roam. Such a delight being at the base of Hawk Mountain. Susan and Jenn are efficient, good communicators and great hosts. Thank you very much! I’ll be back!

This was my first experience using hip camp and I’m really happy with my first trip. It was absolutely serene and peaceful. Privacy right on the river. I would absolutely come back here. The host was communicative and very nice. Never got to meet in person but that’s was perfectly fine since they made it extremely easy to get to the sites and get anything extra you may need. Some details about the area: The road in starts as a dirt road with a small farm stand and then turns into grassy road through a field, They do recommend 4WD but for anyone wondering I was able to easily drive my Toyota Camry to my site but if there had been a heavy rain it could possibly get too muddy for something as such. I stayed at site 2 which was extremely secluded and private. First thing to know is there is a steep walk down to the site. A wheelbarrow is provided but it wasn’t too bad getting down. It was more of a pain getting back up but I feel it is worth it for this site. Plenty of space with complete tree coverage. Benches, chairs, sink, table, clothesline, kindling, fire pit, all on site over looking a river. There is a short path leading you down to the shallow river where we spent all day fishing and catching bass and fall fish. We saw some crawfish around the rocks and once in while would see a neighbor floating down the river or taking a swim. All in all it is a great sight and I promise you can’t go wrong with choosing this for your trip.

Wonderful Riverside Camping Stay

We absolutely loved our stay at Site 1 by the river! The campsite was beautiful, peaceful, and very well maintained. Having a water hookup, bathroom, and easy access to firewood made everything so convenient and completely hassle-free. Our dogs also had an amazing time and loved being able to enjoy the site off-leash. It was the perfect place for them to explore and relax. A huge thank you to Susan and Jen for being so helpful and providing all the details we needed. They made the whole experience easy and enjoyable from start to finish. Starry nights by the campfire

Me and my fiancé came here for a weekend camping getaway. This was our 7th time here and we seem to not get enough of this campsite. Had a magical weekend with amazing views, beautiful weather and pleasant stream to cool off in. Susan and Jenn were welcoming and attentive as always. The little farm stand was adorable. We will be back soon!

Another Great Stay

My friends and I have been staying at Susan's sites for several years now. Every time we stay, it reaffirms how much we all enjoy it there. It's just far enough off the beaten path to feel like you're much further away from civilization than you really are. The site has all the commodities you would need (plus the option to buy or borrow through the camp store if needed). Our favorite part is spending most of the day sitting in the river and having some drinks. Wouldn't change anything about it!

We absolutely loved our time here! Fly fishing is steps away in the river. Our 11 year old daughter caught a fish! The site itself is peaceful and spacious. Jenn and Susan are communicative and available to answer any questions. We will definitely be back!!

Little bit of Heaven

We stayed in site #1 by the river and it was HEAVEN! We can't wait to go back. The site is beautiful and private and serene--an hour on Saturday we had several people who passed by on the river, but the rest of the time we were blessedly alone. We loved the set up--everything that we needed but still very rustic. Susan and Jenn were lovely & responsive.

Excellent Site!

Beautiful campsite, right on the water. Tree covered area with total privacy. Has everything you could possibly need, including a hose station where you can wash dishes. I will mention though that you have to park your car at the top of a pretty steep hill and carry your stuff down. They have a wheelbarrow to help with that, but it's pretty grueling if you brought a lot of stuff. So maybe pack light and it's definitely worth it! Would absolutely stay there again!

Site 3 camping

My boys, dog and I had a wonderful time this past weekend on Susan’s Farm at site 3. Everything is beautifully marked out to each of the sites and a route to the river from site 3. The property is maintained and site 3 was just arranged perfectly. We fished the river and the large pond. Both of my boys caught their first fish with many after that this weekend. The views were phenomenal, my youngest pointed out a beautiful sunset Friday and the Moon nearly full on Saturday was awesome when it broke through the cloud coverage. Other than some soggy rain which we faired okay was no match for the great time we had on Susan’s Farm. Also Jenn was fantastic with being so attentive during our stay. It was the peace and quiet we all need/needed!

Site 1 (Lean-to)

Great spot on little river. Path to site is steep but they provide double wheeled whellbarrow. Site also has plenty of seating and tables so we didnt have to haul as much down. Lean-to came in handy with pesky rain. Gravity fed wash station was also handy. Site was well thought out and maintained, but still natural. We split our time by the river and exploring the tree farm, and both have great views. Tubed the river with my son and caught some smallmouth bass. We also fished the pond that has big sunnies and good size laremouth bass. Hosts were very accomadating and easy to work with. I would reccomend as long you dont mind the short but steep incline to camp site.

Best Stay on Hipcamp!

I've stayed at multiple sites at this location over the years and the experience and campsites are always wonderful. The campsites are always fully prepared with everything needed, fire wood, potable water and clean outhouse facilities. Clear texts directions from the owner Susan and Manager Jenn who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. The Sunsets and Star at Site 3 are amazing. even though there are three campsites on the property you feel like the whole place is to yourselves. The pond is full of bass and the largest bluegills Ive ever caught, great to bring young fisherman. Your in the Shadow of Hawk Mountain for fantastic Hiking and Bird watching. My favorite site I've ever been on Hipcamp.

We loved our stay, it was everything it was supposed to be peaceful and quiet. It is a very nice property that is clean and well taken care of, our site has plenty of space and is set up well with the wash sink, out house with a bucket (it really wasn't that bad) fire pit with cooking grates and the firewood that we purchased was delivered to our site and was seasoned and burned great. The site is high enough off the river bank that you dont need to worry about flooding but is just a short walk down the steps they have cut into the river bank. We caught fish in the river and also in the pond that is on the property. The host is very nice and is great with communication. Honestly it was everything we hoped it would be.

The site was gorgeous and very private. The only downside was the toilet situation, so be aware. Plenty of seating around the fire pit, an outdoor kitchen area and chairs overlooking the river.

Susan’s camp site by the water was perfect. Great space for a big group or family. Quiet and peaceful. The site had enough seating for us all so did not need to bring our camp chairs. The outhouse was easy to use and self explanatory and the only thing that was not ideal, was just getting our stuff from our car to the site since we had to walk up and down the hill. Overall, great experience and site. My family and I will be back.

This place is wonderful! The directions are very thorough and everything is set up so beautifully. We stayed at campsite #3, and we saw the almost moon rise over Hawk mountain 2 nights in a row. Stunning. And the sunsets were just glorious. I'm excited to revisit and try site #1 or #2, as they are both nestled near the river. So cool. One note: this site is dog friendly, which is just great. BUT the Hawk Mountain Conservancy trails are NOT. Plenty to do otherwise, though. Beautiful part of the world, and the hosts are fantastic. Definitely returning!
