4 nights at GeerCrest Farm

One of the best experiences we've had on Hipcamp. Jim was more than accommodating -- he was a selfless host. He offered to help us with the RV we were working on and he did just that. He helped me put a door back on its hinges lending me tools and his knowledge. The property is beautiful and the sheep, the ducks, the dog, and the cat made me feel as if I was right at home. The cabin is perfect for couples or small groups who don't mind being cozy. It was amazing cooking steaks on our camper grill under the stars on the porch and then coming inside to finish the day with a warm drink and marshmallows toasted over a fire. Wifi is good for streaming and checking emails, but it is best to be closer to the house for a better signal. Bathroom was super clean and the least smelly outdoor toilet I have ever sat inside. We will remember this place fondly and hope to return in the future to have another fantastical getaway in the Valley.

Great location only 25 mins Inland from the coast! Loved listening to the creek next to our tent all night, and awesome to have a bathroom and fire pit all ready to use!

We had a really wonderful week staying on a beautiful piece of property. Jim was extremely friendly and very helpful. The facilities were very clean. Jim went above and beyond to make sure that our stay was fantastic. He even brought us firewood, something I had forgotten to pack. If you're wondering whether this place is worth it, no need to guess it definitely is. Located 25 minutes away from the 10 waterfalls trail. In Silver Falls State Park. If you're looking for somewhere beautiful and Serene to disconnect and spend some time this is the place to do it. I look forward to Camping here again.

Spent two days at the campsite and had a wonderful time. Scenery was beautiful and I thought the campsites were spread apart far enough that nobody was in each other's way. You're right on the river which is nice. Staff was very hands off yet acknowledged messages rather quickly and got back to you very fast. We ended up going with the hot tub the second night and it's not something you would regret it's well worth spending the money. Would definitely recommend this place to other campers.

Mike is awesome!! Welcoming, helpful, and respectful of your space. His land is absolutely beautiful and he’s created a very special place. It was just me and my two dogs - they love water so we raged in the creek, and Walked the trails, and chilled campsite - I felt super safe and we’ll be back soon! Weekend Trip to Tranquil Orchards and Wine Tours

This location can’t be beat in Aurora for peace, proximity, and price. The filbert orchard was a beautiful place to spend the night on our roadtrip, and the outdoor warm shower and flushing toilets were an amazing bonus we hadn’t expected (even though they’re listed in the amenities.) It is close-in enough that we rode our bikes to the downtown area, which had great antiquing. Shane was a very accommodating and responsive host and allowed us a late checkout because no one was coming in behind us. Would stay again.

Santiam Serenity

Enjoy the calm, quiet serenity of the South Santiam River. Get back to the basics here and just relax and enjoy nature. We have a small cabin with a bunk bed, and a camping toilet is provided. Bring your tent or camper for extra room. Our campsite is nestled among the trees next to the river. There's lots to enjoy. Do you like hiking? Silver Falls State Park is only 36 miles away. Boating? You can put in your kayak/canoe at Gills Landing in Lebanon and float down the river back to the campsite. Fishing? Bring your fishing pole and try catch and release in our pond. Swimming? Take a swim in the cool water. Of course, you can just relax by the water's edge and enjoy the tranquility provided by the soothing flow of the river. This 192 sq. ft. cabin is very basic. There is no shower, but there is a portable toilet with a wash station located outside. We do provide a full 5-gallon water cooler for drinking since there is no running water. For cooking there is a 24" Blackstone 2-burner griddle, and small propane cans are provided. Also, the cabin is furnished with a small supply of pots and pans. There is a battery that provides lighting, and phone charging is available in the cabin. During the cooler months, there is a small wood stove for heating, and firewood is provided. The cabin sleeps 2, but there is room for a camper and/or tents. This campsite is meant to be very simple, so you should plan on bringing whatever you may need/want for camping.

Of course, we expect all dog owners to keep an eye on their pets so they don't disturb other campers or ingest anything they're not supposed to. QUIET HOURS: 10pm-9am. We ask that guests keep the noise (loud music and loud conversations) to a minimum between 10pm and 9am. We live onsite and will enforce these if we have to (please don't make us). From there, we started raising Black Angus in 2008 after spending four years cleaning up the fields to make it safe for animals. We purchased this slice of paradise in 2003 as a place to relax, recharge, and someday build our dream home. It started as nothing more than a gravel road leading to a small clearing with an old bus and a couple decks. Our children have grown up out here learning a deep respect for nature and the real (non digital) world. Now empty nesters, we live on site. Part of our retirement planning is to spend next several years developing the lower portion of the property (approx. 15 acres) into a campground and retreat for our guests, as well as our own family, friends, and grandchildren. The campground area (currently) consists of a handful of primitive campsites, and a group area. We are working steadily on improvements, including adding more sites, improving the roadways, and upgrading the common areas. In all we will likely have 12-15 total designated camping areas (including a group area or two, as well as a couple hike to secluded locations). GeerCrest Farm

GeerCrest Farm was settled by the Geer family in 1848, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family. The farm features creeks, forests, pastures, orchards and gardens as well as the historic buildings. Currently we have four friendly sheep and a small flock of Mallard ducks to keep us company. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 vairieties of pre 1850 apple trees. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognizeds as a memorial the the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program. The 20 acre property, offers three tent camp sites Including the Tree House site, as well as two forest cabins and a small forest bunkhouse (sleeps 6). Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional quacking of ducks and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep. Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties circa 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! Your experience will certainly be unique to the season. Your host Jim Toler represents the fifth generation of the farm and will happily share stories of the farm and it's history. GeerCrest Farm is truly an off-the-beaten-path gem.

10-Fold Farm

I'm new to Hip Camp, but have a wonderful riverside spot I want to share with you. This is a beautiful working farm about an hour south of Portland, Oregon. Most of the property is a flat prairie with the beginnings of beef, pork and lamb grown regeneratively, and a pasture raised poultry operation. Don't worry, no smells. By the river, there is a tall forest of Douglas fir trees. Due to a slight eddy at this spot, there is a perfect swimming hole, about 8 feet deep in the center. Or if you're just wanting to float, let the eddy bring you lazily back upstream! Fishing is great here, too! Trout are plentiful and I hear there's salmon at the right time of year. I worked with kids before starting my farm so I love hosting families. Just know that there is no fence to keep kids away from the river, so being vigilant is important. It is not easy access for them, (75 yards to the easier path from the sites, down the path, and over river rock) but it is something to be aware of. I encourage families with special needs children to make reservations as I have been in your shoes and know first hand the difficulty of trying to camp with a unique child while fellow campers are just 10 ft away. For those with mobility concerns, most of the camp area is flat, though there are moles that like to dig holes. Access to the river area is doable for most with assistance. -My tiny home is in the area of the sites, but far enough away to maintain privacy. Otherwise it is a private and secluded area. Because I live on site, I will not allow repeat visits if groups become rowdy or disrespectful. -There is electricity and water on site. A compost toilet and sink are available, but no shower. -There is a communal fire pit, don't forget your marshmallows. (No individual fires allowed). -I have a 6-person hammock for relaxing with family or friends. (NOT a trampoline) - There is an old hay wagon converted into a covered picnic area that I call the Cowzebo for use if the weather gets iffy. - Dogs are welcome, but know that my dogs also hang out here. - Check out my farm page at 10foldfarmoregon.com for more info. - I have room for larger groups but I'm still learning the best way to manage the logistics of those reservations. Learn more about our land: In the heart of Willamette Valley AVA and on a breezy 20-acre lot of land we provide a space for you to set yourself up and enjoy life's natural bounty. We offer a small shared space with a wood fire stove and some essential items, many games (such as horseshoes), and lots of picnic areas and tables sprinkled throughout the property. The location is central and half an hour to just minutes away from water bodies Hagg Lake, Nestucca River, Yamhill River, little Niagara Falls, Mill Creek, Baker Creek, Rainbow Lake and more… Such as the Carlton public pool. If your looking to jaunt from camp a little further, we are located a little over an hour and a beautiful drive to the Pacific Coast and about an hour from Portland. Although in the middle of the country woods, we are surprisingly only two and a half miles from the adorable and quaint town of Carlton. So beside the views, you’ll be alongside some fantastic eateries and outstanding winemakers. Being raised in the community, and over ten years of experience in the local food and wine industry, I can give recommendations aplenty. ꕥ The property has been in our family since the late 60’s and has recently been transferred in ownership to the next generation! It’s been a large adjustment with many precious memories in tow. In hopes to carry on the legacy we opened up camp mid-summer 2021, and it’s a work in progress (as work normally is!), but has been a beautiful experience being in a position to share. There are two family homes on the property with people who truly admire this land we have been given so we do ask you to respect our process in this adjustment, as we miss our grandparents and parents who have worked their entire lives for us to be here. With the work of these past couple seasons, and thanks to our fellow campers, we have been able to lay more gravel, get a more fluid bathroom situation established, and have purchased a 20ft stargazing tent that is in the works of being listed this season!
