The place has been farmland since about 1926. It became a family horse property with three pastures and now is a small lavender and blackberry farm. While it is limited to two RV sites, there may be farm visitors walking around the area. Tall cedars and fir remain in the back of the property and provide for a forest experience. It is not a commercial campground. We are now turning it into a small lavender farm. About half of the original pasture is now covered in black ground mat and 3,000 newly planted lavender.

You should rely primarily on your own power. Walking trails are in cedar trees and on hill across 10 acres with flower fields and blackberry "farm". Free blackberry picking in season (August and Early September). Deer, racoons, foxes, bald eagles and occassional coyote on site. Keep food and trash secure. No toilet or sewer available. There is one portable "porta potty" type facility. Dry camping only, no camp fires allowed due to fire conditions. Pack out own trash/garbage. No Pets allowed. Only visible neighbors are three horses on neigboring 10 acre farm property. There is Wi-Fi. Beach access has been closed.

This cozy cottage is equipped with a queen size bed in a lovely sleeping loft, a small but useful kitchen, a large trex deck with patio furniture, a comfy couch and small dining table. The separate, but luxurious, bath house has a full sized shower, sink, and fully plumbed flushing toilet. There is even a small stacked washer and dryer available. Laundry soap available for purchase. Name brand (no dollar store stuff here) shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided.
A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm.
The kitchen has a gas 2 burner stove, a mini fridge, toaster oven, hot water kettle, french press coffee maker, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, and other basics.
The bed has 100% cotton sheets, pillow cases, and blanket. As well as a comfy coverlet. A feather alternative duvet is available for colder nights.

This property is a large RV site with 2 separate hookups directly across the street from Mayo Cove Inlet, 1 mile from Penrose State Park, 3 miles from Joemma State Park, and less than a mile from Bay Lake. You'll see bald eagles, hear owls and watch deer pass through your camp. But you are only about a 5-10 min walk from town! This does mean you'll often hear music from events on weekend evenings, and plane traffic does fly overhead. Vashon is quiet and full of nature, but you're not out in the middle of nowhere! We had a great 3 night stay on Steve’s Marineview spot. The walk to the waterfront was a perfect 15 minute/160 steps and when timed at low tide had a nice beach for walking and shelling on. A quiet, private parking spot, in a beautiful neighborhood!
We caught the public transit into downtown Seattle which was very fun. (30 min. by bus, 60 min by train.) Thanks Steve!

Lisa’s site was beautiful with ample space to explore. We went with our 6 year old and dog. The walk to the beach is steep but manageable. Directions as to where the actual site is were a little unclear but once we were set up it was magical. We even saw orcas one evening! Would definitely come back.

Weekend Trip to Bywater Yurt
The yurt is fabulous. Quite private. Yes, Megan’s house is a few feet away but it faces away from the yurt. There are other houses beyond hers but you can’t see them until you walk out into the field. It was very quiet, just birds talking to each other. It’s centrally located so it’s a short drive to any part of the island you want to explore.
And Megan is good people.

1 night at Bywater Yurt
This was a solo-adventure for myself and it was perfect. Megan is so lovely and responsive. The yurt has a luxurious bed with tables in all the right spots. As detailed, there is no electricity. There are 2 lamps, that were enough for me, but if you need lots of light bring some pre-charged or battery powered lights and a flashlight to light your way to the compost toilet (it’s great!). The yurt is situated close to everything on the island, yet sits so far away from the road that it allows for the calm and quiet with amazing star gazing. Although it had been a warm day, the cross breeze through the screens made it cool by evening. The property is beautiful and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see the deer family that prefer Megan’s space to all others on the island.

Allison and Brian are creating an oasis with a lot of attention to details. It is a beautiful property that is close to many activities in the area.
We attended an event in Tacoma for a day and it was an easy trip.
Communication was easy and quick.
We recommend staying at least a few days. Besides lots of things to do close by, staying at the campsite was so relaxing! You do not want to miss out on the beautiful sauna, the comfortable lounge area or taking a stroll in their small, but magical forest.
We highly recommend staying with Allison and Brian!

Would definitely stay here again and absolutely recommend it if you’re planning to stay on Vashon Island and want a fabulous destination with epic views to stay and relax. We really enjoyed this campsite. As is mentioned in the description, it is a little bit of a walk to the site itself, but there was a wagon to pull our stuff in which was so helpful. Our kids loved having some space to run around and explore. Overall it was a lovely place to stay.
