You must be in a self-contained RV/camper with its own bathroom, or bring a portable toilet and pack out all human waste. You also need to pack out all trash. The cabin and decks are private and off-limits to guests. The Island Shores Community Beach (with a boat launch ramp, just north of the house on the beach) is also private and not for camper use. Pets are welcome on a leash; a wildlife preserve with nesting birds sits next door, so leashes apply on the beach too. About 2 to 2.5 hours from Seattle via Tacoma and the Harstine Island bridge. Please note, this is HARSTINE ISLAND, NOT HERRON. I haven't gotten Hipcamp to fix this yet. There is a bridge to the island and the coordinates offered for site are correct. The map says beach shore Rd but the physical sign says Klondike. Very clean commercially maintained outhouse now available! Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fire pit for another.. 2 meadow sites in 5 acres, a forested tent sight coming. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet. Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry! One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well. There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage. Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. One lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing! Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Frequently people have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out. Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

The place has been farmland since about 1926. It became a family horse property with three pastures and now is a small lavender and blackberry farm. While it is limited to two RV sites, there may be farm visitors walking around the area. Tall cedars and fir remain in the back of the property and provide for a forest experience. It is not a commercial campground. We are now turning it into a small lavender farm. About half of the original pasture is now covered in black ground mat and 3,000 newly planted lavender. Learn more about this land: One acre pasture for dry RV camping (no restroom facilities). There is a potable water/hose bib and an auxilliary 110 volt 15 amp AC connection via extension cord from barn. You should rely primarily on your own power. Walking trails are in cedar trees and on hill across 10 acres with flower fields and blackberry "farm". Free blackberry picking in season (August and Early September). Deer, racoons, foxes, bald eagles and occassional coyote on site. Keep food and trash secure. No toilet or sewer available. There is one portable "porta potty" type facility. Dry camping only, no camp fires allowed due to fire conditions. Pack out own trash/garbage. No Pets allowed. Only visible neighbors are three horses on neigboring 10 acre farm property. There is Wi-Fi. Beach access has been closed.

This special place has sweeping views, including a stunning shot of Mount Rainier on clear days. Surrounded by forested land including a park preserve, the land is usually quiet and fairly private. A great place to watch birds, access multiple park trails by foot, or just enjoy being outside in nature. If you plan to bring a dog, do check which trails do and don't allow four-footed friends. There are old fruit trees on the land that give plentiful fruit (most years) starting in August, and depending on the time of year you'll also find blackberries, huckleberries and salal berries. (Do watch for sporadic spots of poison oak but they are few and far between.) Plenty of spots to set up tents, as well as two van-designated camping spots separate and not in eye-shot from tent-camping meadow. Serving all is an outdoor/covered low-tech compost toilet tucked into the trees a couple minutes walk from the meadow. There is also a spigot near the parking area with hose where you can rinse off dishes, gear etc. If you'd like to drink this water, we recommend filtering it first. A public swimming hole on Lake Florence is a short drive away, along with beaches. Check back with us in the future as well, because we have big plans for additional amenities.

Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey. The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups! Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi. About the campground: The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins. There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊 The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

This cozy cottage is equipped with a queen size bed in a lovely sleeping loft, a small but useful kitchen, a large trex deck with patio furniture, a comfy couch and small dining table. The separate, but luxurious, bath house has a full sized shower, sink, and fully plumbed flushing toilet. There is even a small stacked washer and dryer available. Laundry soap available for purchase. Name brand (no dollar store stuff here) shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm. Weekend Trip to Camp Wanderlust

This place is so nice! Shared mess hall with various common appliances, small fridge for your cold items, tons of board games and lawn games, pool, showers, the cleanest portapotties I have ever experienced. Highly recommend checking this place out!

The Magical school bus is an adventure you won't forget! Set on 20 acers of wooded forest. We have created a whimsical wonderland like no other. We think you'll fall in love with what we have created like so many other guests have. Our bus comes equipped with it's own kitchenette with cooking oils, spices, cook and serving wear, a very comfortable queen size bed plus much more, set in your own part of the forest.

Weekend Trip to Elfendahl Forest

We loved camping on Gary's property. Our 2 year old enjoyed the play ground, net, playing with the dogs and bunnies, and running around. This was a perfect spot for a family of 4 (2 adults, newborn and toddler). The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, clean bathroom, and shower had heated water. We plan to come back again this summer and highly recommend it to other families.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was so quiet and relaxing at night. We cooked some great meals on the gas burning stove. Explored the state park near by and went paddle boarding. Tyler was attentive to any issues we had which was only needing help with the water. Definitely recommend.

Returned to the wonderful & whimsy Wanderbus for a birthday trip. The staff here are so friendly and welcoming, the hot tub is lovely and relaxing, and we felt like we were living in a fairy tale since we were surrounded by gnomes, fairies, mushrooms, and flowers and safely nestled in our private grotto. We enjoyed cooking in the communal kitchen and also made a nice breakfast and coffee in the bus. It was amazing to have fluffy dry towels on hand, enjoy the propane fire pit, and feel at home in a perfectly appointed and cozy home on wheels for a few days. We stargazed on our second night and enjoyed an absolutely astoundingly gorgeous view of the majestic universe and perseid meteor shower in all its glory. Can't wait to go back!

Allison and Brian are creating an oasis with a lot of attention to details. It is a beautiful property that is close to many activities in the area. We attended an event in Tacoma for a day and it was an easy trip. Communication was easy and quick. We recommend staying at least a few days. Besides lots of things to do close by, staying at the campsite was so relaxing! You do not want to miss out on the beautiful sauna, the comfortable lounge area or taking a stroll in their small, but magical forest. We highly recommend staying with Allison and Brian!

Our group stayed at the Bilbo Inn last night after some plans fell through; but this last minute booking ended up being the coolest spot we’ve seen on hip camp yet. Gary was super welcoming and has done a great job with the whole area. It really feels like you’ve stepped into a fairytale grove and the good vibes follow suit. Looking forward to coming back in the fall when the sauna is up and running, would recommend it for sure 👍

Friendly hosts who were helpful in getting everything set up. Clearly marked directions and signage through the entrance and down to the campsites. Amenities were well maintained and everything had clear instructions so we could be self sufficient. Only stayed for a quick evening getaway, but certainly enjoyed our time and would go again for a longer stay. Great location to get away to nature but also slip away briefly to town if you want a bite or convenience.

3 nights at Peaceful Olympic Peninsula RV Sites

We made this last-minute reservation to escape the wildfire smoke, and we’re so glad we did! The location was perfect for sightseeing in the area, and we even took the ferry over to Seattle. This Hipcamp was perfect for our three-night stay. Our site was level, there was a nice grassy area between the sites and a table with two chairs, and having full hookups was a huge plus. We had plenty of room to back in our 36-foot Class A motorhome and still park our Jeep next to it. The owners were friendly, helpful, and available whenever we had a question. The entire property was very clean, peaceful, and quiet. One of our favorite things was watching the deer that came to visit every day! We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again if we’re ever back in the area. Highly recommend, especially for fellow RV travelers!
