Mosswood is on 5 acres of mostly forested land, there's usually a project going (or three).
We've recently finished building a barn workshop, a covered timber frame deck in the meadow, and a very unique woven tree net that you'll be sure to enjoy!
No dogs living here, just one friendly cat, otherwise it's squirrels, birds, and the occasional wild turkey procession or coyote.
There is a large garden, and when growing season is on, we may send you packing with some fresh greens or veggies! If you see us out and about, feel free to come say hello or ask questions.
We love sharing good conversations and ideas about how to live well and stay excited about all things.

Veneta/Elmira are charming small rural towns with all the basics less than 10 min drive: Grocery Outlet, Bi-mart, Ace hardware, Auto parts, some decent restaurants. Eugene is 25 min, and the beautiful Oregon coast is 45 min drive if you want to smell the ocean air and visit Florence.

'Royal Heart Hill' is at the very end of a Dead-End road, which means no sound or light pollution from passing cars or nearby residences. Surrounded by BLM and Timber properties, while being 6 miles from downtown CG (7 miles from the I5) and 30 miles from downtown Eugene.
All guests have access to the outdoor shower, which is connected to the Dome. Please use biodegradable soap in the shower! Potable water spigots are located by the carport and at the top of the steps leading down to our platform site. Each site has its own composting toilet, fire-pit, electrical outlet and hammock.
Nearby access to: two lakes for swimming and fishing, waterfalls and cliff-jumping, hiking and biking trails, dining, wineries, breweries, shopping and more. I am happy to offer suggestions and share what I know- please ask!
UPDATE: The timber acreage that borders our property- to the west and north of Overholser Road- was harvested winter 2024.
The property consists of Oak savanna, mixed conifer woodland, camas meadow, undulating hills and a SMALL pond (home to many rough-skinned newts- no swimming or fishing). At our domestead we practice permaculture, native habitat restoration and regenerative forestry.
Poison oak is present on the property! I have done my best to clear it from camping areas and trails. Tecnu is provided in the outdoor shower.
There is a mile long loop that goes around the whole property, which we keep mowed and accessible. Hipcampers are encouraged to use the loop to explore the property. To access- walk south/downhill toward the pond signs and follow the mowed path through the meadow and back up toward the road, which will take you back to your campsite. I have included a screenshot of the loop as recorded by my Strava app, which is in the property photos.
The property hosts a geodesic play-dome and slack-line (during the dry months) up by the green dome/outdoor shower. Guests may play on these at their own risk- the closest hospital is 7 miles away.

You can reach the coast within an hour. A few miles from the property, you’ll find a charming country store for all your needs. We’re also conveniently located for visits to Corvallis or Eugene — both within a 30-minute drive. We provide porta-potties, potable water, and a serene environment for your stay.

One mile from I-5, you may pitch your tent or park your van in a meadow near some fir trees bordering Elk Creek. Feel the restful flow of water bringing tranquility. Follow hiking trails along the creek, through groves of trees, or play in the singing creek. There is another hiking trail to another portion of the creek to the right of the road that passes by the barn. A sign on an oak tree indicates the edge of the large mowed meadow that will take you to another sign for the trail to the creek.
When entering the property at the county road, you’ll see a big Century Farm sign on the left at the driveway entrance.
Continue past a brown machine shed. You will see two apple trees on your left. Just beyond the apple trees is a sign, on a big fir tree. This sign points to the direction of the campsite. Shaped like an arrow it points to the mowed path down to the creek and campsite which you may drive.
Uphill from the campsite is a trail going through a small copse of trees that leads up to the red barn. On the left, at the entrance to the barn, is a bathroom complete with sink and shower. Towels are not provided.
Beneath the apple trees is a faucet with potable drink safety hose and a bucket for your use.

Unwind at this private camp spot outside of Eugene. It’s nestled in a small, creek side, oak grove. Driving through the hay field you may get to see a wide variety of wildlife. There are fish in the creek, and it’s a perfect spot for friendly doggos to swim.

We rented #3 but Jody thought it might be a little tough getting our RV in the site so she said to park by the barn. Worked out great! We had plenty of room to turn RV around, the space was perfect and also close to the awesome hot outdoor shower! This place was amazing. The peaceful nights with beautiful views especially at night and the swimming hole was just what we were looking for. So quiet and peaceful but yet still close to town. Only downfall was the poison oak:-/ But I can look at it and get it. My other half did just fine lol. Definitely recommend this property and will definitely be coming back!!

Perfectly private site in such a gorgeous wooded area! Our site was shaded (except the bright sunrise) and cleared out with lots of space for us and our dogs. We were excited about the private access to the river and were able to find multiple great swimming holes!

We had an amazing stay at James’s place. The property is incredibly private and secluded, offering peaceful surroundings and beautiful star-filled skies at night. James provided plenty of firewood, which made the evenings even more enjoyable.
One of the highlights of our stay was getting to know James. He was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable to talk with. He took the time to explain everything in detail, including local attractions, nearby places to visit, and the hiking trails on the property. His knowledge of the area and hospitality made our experience even better.
If you’re looking for a quiet getaway surrounded by nature, this is a fantastic place to stay.

Perfect campsite along the river. We spent three nights there mid-week and were lucky to have the whole place to ourselves. Campsite exactly as advertised, easy to locate and reasonable proximity to some local amenities. Our dog enjoyed the freedom of the site and we all enjoyed daily dips in the river. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a simpler campsite that offers more space and privacy in a serine location.

We had a lovely stay at Bloom Hill. We were the only guests, so it was very quiet, althought the spaces are very spaced apart, I imagine it's always pretty quiet. Petra was warm and welcoming and provided clear instructions. We stayed in the "Meadowview" site, which was tucked away near the pond. The space has ample room (it could accommodate several tents if needed - they all seem to have space for several tents). We used the open space for playing frisbee. The Forest site is the closest to the parking area, and more sheltered if you are worried about rain or cold, but you would have the Meadowview folks walking through your area to get to their car if that is of concern to you. The Hillside location is the farthest away (for carrying your items), but is also tucked away in its own area. You can walk to it through the forest site, or up around the house the "back way". The carts for toting your things to the campsites were VERY handy, and the sites are only a minute or two away from parking. We really appreciated the picnic table at each site. The ground was very level for our tent in the Meadow area, and it looked level in all 3 spots. The flush toilet is up by the house, so a bit of a walk from the campsites, but not bad, and it's always a bonus to have a flush toilet! We were participating in a trail race in Corvallis, and Bloom Hill provided a great spot to stay the night before (about 20 minutes away). I would recommend this location.

Mike went above and beyond as a host. Mike was friendly and quick to respond while coordinating arrival. We were greeted and shown to the tent area, and given all the information about the property. We were even given a free tomato plant!
It was really lovely to have access to a hot shower and an indoor common space, felt like glamping!
The tent site was close to the other sites so it didn’t feel secluded, but it was quiet.
It was a perfect first camping trip with my 4 month old, thanks Mike.

Very awesome place. Beautiful river plus starry nights. A little close to the highway noise as others have said but a small price to pay for secluded spacious riverfront sites. Host was friendly and helpful. Hope to be back again!!

This was an excellent little camp. The owner has supplied a generous amount of firewood, a privy, and electricity to the site. There’s a nice large fire pit and a new high end picnic table. There are rough benches and seats around the fire pit. From camp, which sits on top of a ridge, there’s a modest view of the ridges beyond. When the owner did not come to our camp, I went to their house to meet them. The gentleman there was very friendly and helpful. All in all this was a wonderful experience and I will stay here again in the future.

It felt magical from the very beginning. I truly enjoyed the privacy of the bamboo, and Luna (volunteer) was very welcoming and helpful. She took her time and showed us around. She was a wonderful lady and I think she made us feel at home. Thank you for a very chill experience! The campsite and grounds was well maintained and absolutely gorgeous!

Highly recommend to anyone wanting a safe, relaxing, family & pet friendly atmosphere.
We absolutely loved our stay. Mike & Stephany are courteous, attentive hosts who seem genuinely eager to ensure their guests are right at home. The “barn” offers everything one might need for an extended stay and is a great place to hang out in the evenings for family game night.
The property itself is very well kept; the sites are private, the grounds are clean and safe for kids to roam. The large, communal fire pit was kept ‘ready’ for s’mores at all times. Our kids also enjoyed playing on the swing set near the barn. The beds in the bunkhouse are very comfortable; quality bed linens and excellent, comfy memory foam (new condition) mattresses on all beds. Potable drinking water is a great bonus for those trying to travel light. We usually travel with our own water filter so the great tasting drinking water was a nice surprise!

We absolutely loved our stay over Memorial weekend at Moon Shadow Camp! This was the perfect basecamp for our mountain biking trip to the Oakridge area, which was exactly why we chose it. The location is fantastic—close enough to the trails but far enough away to feel like a true escape.
The site itself is oversized and easily accommodated our truck camper with tons of extra space for friends to join us. We especially appreciated how dog-friendly it is (our pup had a great time too). The host was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. We even got to buy fresh farm eggs on-site, which was a nice bonus!
The amenities are simple but thoughtful: fresh water, toilet, comfortable hammocks, a great fire pit stocked with free firewood, and gorgeous sunsets. The short drive up to the camp is totally worth it—the road takes you through peaceful woods filled with cows and wildlife which opens into a beautiful alpine meadow. Once you’re there, the quiet and serenity are unmatched.
We left (after extending a night) feeling refreshed and would 100% recommend Moon Shadow Camp to anyone looking for a peaceful, spacious, and welcoming spot near Oakridge.
Perfect for bikers, nature lovers, or anyone who just wants to unplug. We’ll definitely be back!

The Mossy Nook campsite was quiet and private. The birdsong was amazing in the morning and evening. I also enjoyed the mooing chorus of the cows next door.
