Our unique location is close to Bend city limits and right next to Horse Ridge Mountain Biking Trails. BLM land surrounds the area, and is even accessible from the upper part of our property. Come out and enjoy the high desert and explore the juniper forest.
We have tent camping sites and one tipi.
We are currently in the process of still building out our glamping pods. However in the mean time you can currently book a stay at those sites for tent camping.
The tent sites offer a comfortable setting for your tent in the sandy dirt.
Each site includes a large picnic table and a fire pit.

We have a small community area, there you will find a small outdoor kitchen with a large blackstone, small bbq and little cooking/eating utensils.

Next to the community area is where you will also find the bathroom, which is a clean porta potty.
Come enjoy wandering the juniper forest and sage brush in Central Oregon’s high desert. We are next to 100’s of acres of BLM land, including the Horse Ridge Mountain Biking Trail System. There is hiking, biking, horse trails and ATV trails all nearby. Our open skies are great for daydreaming and stargazing. Come see how bright the milky way is out here Sage Ridge.

TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials.
Anyone experiencing grief, widows/widowers, can enjoy a respite visit to refuel and support during tough times.
Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired.
My deepest thanks to all who have stood alongside through this journey and continue to do so.

Horseman's Haven Ranch and Mountain Camp sits on 322 acres of mountain terrain at 3,700–4,700 ft, bordering the Ochoco National Forest. The land is a mix of lodgepole pine, blue spruce, and juniper, with natural springs, steep trails, small valleys, and expansive mountain views. Wildlife trails wind throughout the property, and horses roam freely. This is a fully off-grid (no electrical hookups), camping experience ideal for those seeking quiet, solitude, and fresh mountain air. We offer a mix of private and communal designated campsites suitable for tents, vans, and RVs (site compatibility depends on your rig size/type). Communal Traeger and blackstone available for cooking. Guests must be fully self-contained, pack it in/pack it out. Spring water from a spigot is available for filling your tank/container.
The property has a long, storied past, once home to a 19th-century cinnabar mine. Remnants of this history can still be found around the property. Days here are perfect for hiking, rockhounding, birdwatching, mountain biking, and exploring nearby public lands. Nights bring incredible stargazing and cool mountain air. We don't offer horseback riding, but for those interested, horsemanship experiences are available. Or bring your own horse! We have pens available.
Access is via paved highway to the ranch, with dirt roads on the property. Most campsites are accessible w/out 4WD in good conditions; high clearance is helpful and 4WD may be necessary seasonally, and depending on the site you choose. The town of Prineville is 20 miles away for supplies, with destinations like Prineville Reservoir, Walton Lake, and the Painted Hills all within easy reach. Please note: terrain can be uneven and steep; leveling blocks recommended for vehicles. Wood fires allowed only when seasonal restrictions permit and must be fully extinguished nightly; propane fire pits allowed when local fire restrictions permit. ATT works on the ranch, but Verizon is spotty.
We welcome respectful guests who love nature, animals, and the quiet rhythms of off-grid living. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat or a basecamp for exploring Central Oregon, this mountain has a spirit all its own, and we’re excited to share it with you.

This 320 acre plot of land on which you can hike anywhere has been in our family since 1993.
Large, graveled spot for tents or two vehicles with excellent view for miles and miles and night star gazing. Primitive outhouse. Juniper forest with sage brush... basically high desert vegetation. We only allow one reservation per night. You can arrange vehicles or tents to not be in view or block any view from house way above. 320 acres to hike and roam. Mitchell is 10 miles away with well stocked grocery and feed store, restaurants, small brewery, and tire shop. We give directions fairly quickly. Road is wide, but steep at top. 4 wheel drive is recommended. Very close to the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National monument, Ochoco National Forest is seven miles. John Day River for swimming, rafting about 20 minutes. If you can book, it means you can drive on up with out contacting us. As you drive in if at night, you will see a light on the outhouse.

Camping is situated on 10 acres and just 10 minutes from the Crooked River, Prineville Reservoir and Millican Valley OHV Trail System . A 15 minute drive will take you to a very scenic hike at Chimney Rock Trail. Bend and Prineville are both a 30 minute drive away.
The group tent site has two separate-12' x 14' flat gravel pads and will accommodate tents of all reasonable sizes. Also includes an outdoor shower/compostable toilet, BBQ with picnic area, and propane fire pit.
The other two separate tent sites are roughly 20'x20' flat gravel pads and will accomodate 2 individual tents if needed. Also includes shared compostable toilet and individual propane fire pit.
Wood fire bans are in effect year round. We do provide propane fire pits at each site as an alternative. Propane tanks are also included.

We have 1 RV site with potable water, electricity and a picnic table. Pets are allowed.

Great place! Private, beautiful green grass with new picnic table, fire pit and bbq. Your own little slice of perfect with full hookups including 50amp service!
Secluded and away from town but yet close enough to access anything your heart desires.
Chet and Carrie are wonderful hosts even bringing farm fresh eggs to camp upon our arrival.
Definitely recommend!

My husband, our dog and I really enjoyed the stay. Matt was very kind and helpful. He really made you feel welcome. The set up had everything we needed and more with an outhouse, propane grill, hose access for water, WiFi, and an electric outlet. There were a few tables and several chairs provided. The neighbors had farm animals that you could watch and hear in the early mornings. The location was great for getting to all the hiking and activities we wanted to do. We will definitely be back !

3 nights at Roadhouse Ranch & Camp
The Yurt was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Each yurt is secured with electronic locks, so it felt very secure. Scott was immediately responsive to questions and anticipated needs, such as switching out the power cell before it could run down.
The star gazing was excellent and I enjoyed wandering around the property, as well as watching the sunset from the seating area atop the beautiful rock formation.
The gasfired fire pit was both attractive and convenient, although I did not use the gass grills, I did see other campers cooking with them. The bathhouse, also with security locks, was always clean and comfortable. The ease of access to everything from dinning, Breweries, shopping, Tumalo State Park, and any other activities you may want was a ten to fifteen minute drive, amazing. I will revisit this camping location.

This site was great for our tent set up. It was a little noisy from the highway, but not terrible. The campground has a bathroom with 2 toilets and 2 showers, a communal fire pit and a nice grill, and a cute trail with good views! Site 7 had a good tree area for our hammock and a picnic table. It seems like it would be a bit small for an RV, but didn’t bother us in our tent. Overall, it was a good trip.

Beautiful area to camp! Easy to find with the directions—just look for the silver horse!
Hosts are very kind and helpful, lots of trees and space, and watching the horses on the property is an awesome experience. We loved staying and will be back again soon!! Would recommend this place to anyone looking to get away and enjoy the great outdoors!!

If you’re looking for the perfect high-desert basecamp that balances total peace with creature comforts, this spot is an absolute gem.
The biggest surprise has to be the brand-new shower house. It is absolutely top-tier—clean, modern, and they’ve clearly thought through the details. They stock it with quality bath soap, and they included the ultimate unsung hero of camping infrastructure: *plenty of hooks* to actually keep your dry clothes and towel off the floor. It’s the kind of setup that makes roughing it feel downright luxurious.
When you aren't hanging out at camp, there’s a gorgeous private trail right on the property that serves up incredible sweeping views without any of the crowds. And the location is tough to beat—you get all that quiet ranch solitude while still being incredibly close to Bend, making it easy to pop into town for a killer hop-forward IPA or a bite to eat.
Total 10/10. Space, views, and a stellar shower setup—it's everything you actually want in a camp spot!

Every detail of the tiny house and the ranch is so thoughtful and beautiful. The tiny house was so comfortable and I loved walking around watching all the animals they have. Raina and Nathaniel were welcoming and friendly. Loved this place!

Very nice spot. There was plenty of room for the tent. A nice table to put the cook stove on. At night there were Great Horned owls calling and birds singing in the day. Friendly chickens came to visit and the sheep and goats were fun to watch. Would recommend!

I really appreciated the ease of booking this site and the quick response from the owner. This Hipcamp was immaculate and easy to access. Everything was beautiful! I stayed two nights in campsite S4 tent camping. Great location outside of Bend. Easy access to everything in the region. Bathrooms and showers are an added luxury. Beautiful piece of property. I was visiting during hot weather so I had extra shade tarps. And I had earplugs for the road noise since it’s not far from the highway. I would totally stay again.
