2026 update! We welcome Tio and Rosie, our two new livestock guardian dogs, to the DunTun this year. We have also installed a perimeter fence around the back four acres but please continue to keep pets on leash for their safety and the safety of our animals.

We are expanding our farm stand, in addition to eggs you will now find seasonal produce, firewood when fires are permitted and souvenirs made by folks who live and work on our farm.
Both campsites are unimproved spots in our future silvopasture food forest. Located on the "back four" acres of our property, they're surrounded by trees and seclusion. We back to a small airport and are near a main road and you will probably hear traffic. Both campsites have trees and space protecting them from views of people or development. We improved our road in 2022 so bring your vehicle with no worries.
We're just outside of the busy part of Port Townsend and close to farms, beaches and historic sites. Go into town for festivals, restaurants and the farmer's market. Chimacum, just two miles away, has several nice restaurants, breweries and farms that offer tours. We're two miles from restaurants, hardware stores and a grocery store in Port Hadlock.
We're just 45 minutes from Olympic National Park and 2 hours to the Olympic Peninsula Coast so we're a great stop over.

Main camp site is the “upper field” where there is room for parking and power/water connections. This is conveniently level with the main road and flat. There is “lower field” that is a trimmed grass field right corner next to the driveway, Finally the “back field” is large, grass field and a fire ring across the northern half of the property. The back field has an unused septic system underground, so we leave the grass and vegetation longer here to attract wildlife and preserve the infrastructure for potential future use. No vehicles allowed in back field.
In the middle of the property is a grove of pine and cedar trees with thick, native salal bushes and rhododendrons crisscrossed with paths created by humans and the local deer population.
Driveway is shared by neighboring property so wave and smile if our neighbors walk or drive out to the main road, and please be respectful of their property line and follow the local culture of 'live and let live'.

This includes all people, men and women alike, as the term "Cowboy" is largely generic and not gender oriented. A taste of that lifestyle is what we are offering here at our Cowboy Camp.
As part of your cowboy camp experience you can sign up for a horsemanship lesson involving handling and grooming horses and time spent working with the horse in the round pen.

Our beautiful piece of property is comprised of 11 acres situated on the northeast tip of the Olympic Peninsula just outside the quaint Victorian seaport town of Port Townsend. It lies approximately 4 miles from downtown with its many art galleries, restaurants, shops, boat harbor, farmer's market and the historic Rose theater.
The horses are excluded from camping areas during your visit. No need to worry about curious horses coming into your campsite to say hello.
We have created a walking trail through the forest around the land that is full of the sounds of life and birds. A pileated woodpecker makes its home in the back corner and two pairs of barred owls also inhabit the nearby Douglas firs.
An important note for the walking explorer, please be aware that many areas of the farm are in their natural state. This means you might encounter prickly plants such as star thistle, nettles and tansy ragwort. We are happy to identify these for you if you are unfamiliar with them. Please be aware and dress in long pants and long sleeves while hiking. There are no poisonous snakes present in this region.
Side note : Due to the presence of horses, chickens and various wildlife on the property, we do not allow outside dogs at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

Cardinal's Camp is an ideal spot for small RV's and campers to come and relax in a country setting. We have a gorgeous covered area and deck with propane mini BBQ and bench seating, full water and 30 amp power hook-ups, and beautiful views of the surrounding farm fields and a one hundred year old barn (PLEASE don't access the barn area or fields, it's not ours but the views are great!)
Lots to do around the area, including Finnriver Cidery, hiking in the Olympic Mountains and the Victorian town of Port Townsend. We now have decent wifi you can use, so option to
come and work remotely! (Unfortunately we don't have tons of space for kids or dogs to run around, but definitely plenty of nice grassy area to set up tents, yard games and a campfire).
Our site includes wifi, picnic table, and potable water. Campfires (outside of a burn ban) and pets permitted! However we do have free-roaming chickens (ask us about fresh eggs!) so leashed up or chicken-friendly dogs please.
Guests love staying here: "Gorgeous spot to sit, relax and take in the sunset across the farm fields before tucking in. We visited for one night with a 10.5’ tall camper van rented from Cabana, which fit easily under the shelter with plenty of clearance. The shelter itself is a great spot to get outside and eat a meal, and the rocking chairs in the yard were chill too! An occasional loud truck will go by on the nearby road, but not bad. We slept fine. Walk to Finnriver Cidery for dinner (yum)"

At 180 acres Glendale Farm in Chimacum, in operation since 1857, is one of the largest single agricultural properties remaining in Jefferson County. The farm includes prime agricultural soils, over half a mile of East Chimacum Creek, and forested areas. The easement protects a buffer zone for salmon and wildlife habitat along the east fork of Chimacum Creek and protects the agricultural and forestry values of the property forever. Jefferson Land Trust and collaborative partners purchased the easement to Insure Glendale farm maintains agricultural practices and wildlife habitat forever! Please be aware this is a working farm with poultry, livestock, and the use of farm equipment providing a great experience for farm life.
Glendale Farm experienced a devastating loss in 2022 when the primary residence burned down. Since then, we have been engaged in a long-term restoration effort, including extensive cleanup from an extreme hoarding situation.
Please wear sturdy shoes at all times, as we are still carefully removing glass and other sharp debris from parts of the property. You may encounter old farm equipment, a few derelict RVs, and other remnants of the site's history as we continue this work.
We appreciate your patience as we gradually improve the farm with future showers, a communal kitchen, gathering spaces, and enhanced landscaping. Your stay directly supports these ongoing improvements.

You will also find a wood firepit and chairs available for use right beside your site. Please bring your own wood to, or feel free to purchase wood through this listing. Also feel free to enjoy the covered seating area alongside the west side of the barn, overlooking the animals, gardens and expansive valley view!
We are also situated less than a 10-minute drive away from an easily accessible dump station in Port Ludlow, on the way to the Hood Canal Bridge.
Please understand that we are a working farm that hosts businesses and other visitors. You will most likely see us and perhaps other guests during your stay! Our home is further down the driveway (to the south of the barn) and we have land mates and an Airbnb unit attached to our house. You will likely hear the sounds of farm projects, animals and people at times. We also live off the busy Beaver Valley road, making us an ideal location for access to the greater Peninsula, but also please know that you may notice road noise at times during your stay with us. We are not in a remote area that is completely silent - we are a bustling farm in a happening place. If you are seeking somewhere very remote without a lot of noise, projects or people coming and going, our site is sadly not for you. The Navy OLF is nearby. It is recommended you check the flight schedule for dates and times the jets will be flying. Depending on the direction they happen to be flying that night, it can get quite loud. In those instances, ear protection is recommended. About a third of summer weekdays the OLF is used. The jets do not fly on weekends and holidays. Having said all of this, most campers enjoy the airshow, as it is a unique opportunity.
The camp site is approximately 6 acres located in a quiet secluded forest area near highway 525. A fire pit is provided on non-burn ban days. A flat grassy area is big enough to enjoy your recreation activity of choice. Bring your binoculars and check out all the different kinds of birds. Nearby wetlands provide lots of food for birds, bats, and dragonflies. Other wildlife you may see are deer, bunnies, owls, quail, butterflies, garter snakes, and raccoons. Lots of native flora can be identified with your plant identification app or book. The beach is about a mile away where you can hunt for sea glass and enjoy the waves or build yourself a shelter out of driftwood.
The mostly flat gravel road can accommodate any size RV.

We have several dry tent sites and 1 RV site nestled on this beautiful treed lot. Another RV site and cabin rental coming soon.
Listen to the birds and other sounds of nature as you sit by the fire.
Site is currently dry (no power, running water or electricity) but a portable sink/toilet is available in the two “little” sheds or visitors may use their own portable camp toilet.
Site is about 10 mins from the Coupeville/Port Townsend ferry, 15 mins from the charming oceanside town of Coupeville (one of Washington’s oldest towns), Ebey’s Landing National Historic Preserve and Penn Cove (known for world renowned oysters).
Island Transit bus stop right across the street (dial a ride) and biking/hiking trails surrounding the site in case you’d rather not drive.
Aside from its natural beauty and beaches, the island has many great restaurants, farms and wineries to enjoy while visiting.

Please note: There is a naval air station on Whidbey Island, so there can occasionally be jet maneuvers. We, personally, enjoy seeing them fly overhead, but some people don’t like the noise.

Weekend Trip to Primitive ForRest Cabin
When we arrived there was no one else at this camp. We found our cabin, and it just felt magical: comfortable and cozy, with everything we might need, even a big power bank and filled water dispenser. It hardly felt primitive at all. It was as if a fairy had anticipated our arrival and made this sweet little world for us.
There’s a nice, clean outhouse just a few steps from the cabin, and a communal kitchen with a propane stove and some basic cooking/eating utensils. Both a pleasure to use. And a really nice outdoor shower with hot water!
We took part in the community sauna the next night — also magical, with two saunas (at different temps) and two cold plunges to choose from.
Lusa was such a kind and generous host. I plan to go back again!

We had a wonderful overnight stay at Black Swan. The wildlife is amazing and we have a deer and her baby exploring the camp and got to see a Kingfisher exploring the area! The sites are clean and well maintained and so is the portaloo! Would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

I had an amazing Fourth of July weekend at Island Retreat Campsite. It was such a relaxing and peaceful couple of days.
I made an amazing steak dinner over the campfire, and in the morning, I took my dogs down to the beach for a walk and a swim. One of the highlights of the weekend was an incredible encounter with an eagle that flew within about five feet of my shoulder—an experience I’ll never forget!
Saturday afternoon I went to the farmers market in Coupeville and later had a delicious lunch at Front Street Grill. I recommend the Saffron Mussels.
If your going to be on Whidbey island camping I highly recommend Island Retreat Campsite if you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet weekend. The amenities are well kept, with clean bathrooms, a solar shower, barbecue facilities, and firewood available at a reasonable price.
One tip: if you’re visiting during the hot, dry season, be sure to check for any burn bans before having a campfire.

This side of Whidbey island is quieter due to jets not taking off as frequently. A highlight was the outhouse, complete with 2 flush toilets, probably the cleanest of any hipcamp we have stayed at. But whatever you do, make sure you take a moment to step back in time along Fort Townsend’s historical interpretive trail, which shares the story of hearty settlers who populated the seaside area way back in the 1850s. You think camping is roughing it? Try being an early Pacific Coast pioneer—they didn’t have electricity, much less iPhone flashlight apps to light the way to the campground bathroom! Once you pay your respects to ye olde pioneers, cool off in the bay’s waters; scuba diving, fishing, and sailing are popular activities. And before you retire to your tent for the night, take a little time to star gaze, just like the Fort Townsend folk undoubtedly did hundreds of years ago.

Great environment and five the property host was very pleasant. The farm is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend camping at this facility. The shower was particularly delightful. It was great interacting with the other campers.
