Weekend Paradise🥰

I had an amazing Fourth of July weekend at Island Retreat Campsite. It was such a relaxing and peaceful couple of days. I made an amazing steak dinner over the campfire, and in the morning, I took my dogs down to the beach for a walk and a swim. One of the highlights of the weekend was an incredible encounter with an eagle that flew within about five feet of my shoulder—an experience I’ll never forget! Saturday afternoon I went to the farmers market in Coupeville and later had a delicious lunch at Front Street Grill. I recommend the Saffron Mussels. If your going to be on Whidbey island camping I highly recommend Island Retreat Campsite if you’re looking for a relaxing, quiet weekend. The amenities are well kept, with clean bathrooms, a solar shower, barbecue facilities, and firewood available at a reasonable price. One tip: if you’re visiting during the hot, dry season, be sure to check for any burn bans before having a campfire. Beautiful, peaceful place and a great weekend getaway! 🦅🏕️🔥🐾

Ena was an excellent camp hostess and communicated well with us. Level camp ground secured with gates making us feel safe and cared for. A wonderful clean bathroom with small sink was ideal! Hammock for relaxation, table for all your needs on site. We were pleased!!

This was a great spot for my camper van! Delicious blackberries, nice common areas and enough privacy from one site to another. The hammocks are a great bonus as well.

This was my first time using Hipcamp and it went wonderfully! I stayed in site #6 and #3, one night each. Everything was as described in the listing. With exception of highway noise (died down towards the later part of the night) the property was very quiet! The sites are well spaced and neighbors were also quiet on the two nights I stayed. Be sure to read the instructions for using the toilet. Someone during my stay wasn't sure what to do and this could cause problems for the rest of the guests if done improperly. I'll keep this location in mind for future visits to the area. Thank you Ena!

The site was easy to find, was enclosed and felt very safe and cozy. The host checked in with us before arrival and responded to questions quickly. There were attempts to make the rv-style toilet and sink homey, but there is only so much one can do. A more secure solution for the toilet paper would be great as it kept slipping off the rv sink roll holder and it is hard to keep the floor clean and dry. There are apparently plans for a solar shower, though there was no running water at the time we were there. There are grills for use as well as a wobbly picnic table in the center for public use. A table at each site would be nice, but could also crowd the spaces. Our site did have a fire ring. Also bottled drinking water is provided but as it is left out under the sun, not the freshest. Overall good location in pleasant surroundings with a few missing conveniences. We were in tents. If you're with an rv you'll probably have no problems at all. If tent camping, come prepared.

Beautiful site surrounded by tall trees! Even though it's close to the road, it is full of nature—we even saw a deer and her fawn walk right through during our stay. The facilities are well-equipped, making it a highly recommended spot, especially for families.

Location and access were great, there was plenty of privacy, even with two other couples camping at other sites, and the sites are nice sized for tents or our small RV. Got up close with some birds, including a barred owl right next to the entrance gate! Rabbits hopping around were fun. Improvements I would suggest: a picnic table at each site (even rustic inexpensive sites in parks have this), an easier to use toilet, and more clearly marked sites (site 6 is labeled as gravel in the hand drawn map, but it was actually grass, which we were pleased by, but it was confusing at first). Also, a long term improvement (mainly for nature appreciation folks like us) would be to clear some of the Himalaya blackberry and stinging nettle and try to get friendlier native plants established. I want to recommend, but for the price, I expected a little more.

I had such a lovely time at this camp! The host were amazing with communication when I got a little lost. The bathroom was clean and well stocked, soft grass well maintained sites with fire pits. Wood available for purchase, water, and grill available for use. I give it a 10 out of 10. Plus the hosts came by and are just lovely kind humans.

Camp space was good. Locked gate was ideal. Please know this is directly under whidbey NAS touch & go flight line. The jets fly over at 150ft. Road noise is loud trucks cars etc as it is very close to main 20 down the island. I used to live on whidbey used to jet sounds. Though this should be stated in the advert. Booked a 3 night left after 1st. Did not request a refund. Stinging nettle is still around heavily as of June 11. Campground semi maintained... won't be back.

The site was enclosed and absolutely wonderful, very clean and beautiful. Took my 3 dogs and had no problem with letting them roam about. The host was incredible and so sweet, her family was there for memorial weekend and the kids were so sweet to my pups (thought I was gonna go home 1 dog short 😂)! Highly recommend this spot and will definitely be returning. Only warning is the area is surrounded by stinging nettle so be careful if you go near the edges 😅

I was fine, traffic noise was tolerable but I expected the noise going in. Things were a bit overgrown but it’s not quite camping season so I imagine this will change. This would be great for a group camp. Loved the locked gate, felt safe and sound because of the community area in the center.

Ena's campsite was lovely! Several spaces with privacy equal to or greater than state/national parks. Not every site had a campfire ring but there was only one other group there so we were able to use another site's fire pit. The toilet was really nice, indoors, lots of room, and a handwashing sink! Thanks again Ena!
