We are open! This magical, 40-acre, cultivated ecosystem, will wrap around you and leave you enchanted. Enjoy this peaceful, country retreat, as a place to rest and reconnect with the earth and yourself. This is a great place to stop for the night, but one day might not be enough to meander the many paths, drink tea harvested from the herb garden, sit on a bench talking to ancient Maple trees, walk the stone labyrinth, wander the sacred Grove, and camp under the stars. There's so much to enjoy here, from the fragrant rose gardens to the orchards and sheep meadows. Spend the morning sipping tea with a book in the greenhouse, an afternoon wandering the many wooded trails, preparing dinner with vegetables grown from the garden, and enjoying the evening watching the moon and stars come up from the observatory platform. You could take a guided tour of the land and animals, or join one of the many workshops hosted here, such as learning to spin yarn from our herd of Icelandic sheep or take an introduction class to Permaculture. Bring your knitting, friends, or just a favorite book, and spend a few days in this tranquil destination, as this land has something to offer everyone. Please NOTE: This is a working farm, we have animals, dirt, sticks, bugs, poop, and lots of opportunities to "connect" with Nature. All of our amenities are shared spaces, designed to foster community. You will find signs posted around the property with clear communication. All of our lodgings are off-grid with no electricity or running water. Water, electricity, and WIFI are available in the shared kitchen, garden, cafe, and lounging areas. Please bring battery-operated lights, bedding, and a pillow, unless otherwise noted. Amenities include: shower house, bathhouse, large semi-commercial kitchen, library, cafe, fiber studio, yarn shop, plenty of outdoor seating, safe potable water, 2 regularly maintained portable toilets, hand washing station, 2 charcoal/wood barbeques Check-in is 4-8 pm Contact us to inquire about using the land for weddings, retreats, and other gatherings! This is a private, shady 8'x8' site surrounded by young alder trees in a meadow across the creek from the tenting cluster. It is farthest from the bathroom but very quiet and secluded. This is a good place for hammock camping. We have wagons to help you carry your camp gear from the parking area to your site. All our sites haven't 8 ft x 8 ft sawdust pad. Each site holds one tent.

Maple is a sunny 8x8 tent site closest to the restroom and parking area. It's also the closest to Cotton cabin. It's sits in a cluster of tent sites that include cedar and Alder. If you're looking for two sites next to each other I would take Maple and Alder. We have wagons to help you move your camp gear from parking to the tent sites. Simple level tent sites with sawdust pads to keep you warm and comfortable. Each side holds one tent.

Our favorite memory of Washington
Round House
Memories were created that we will never forget! We stayed in 4 other homes booked through AirBNB during our Washington trip, but Compass Rose Farms is the standout! Kateen welcomed us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the land. We instantly fell in love with the simple life, abundant flowers, vegetable gardens and all of the little hidden surprises as we wandered the farm. We did the add-on of picking vegetables from the garden for our dinner. We prepared them in the shared kitchen area and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, organic dinner. The pots, pans and utensils were provided, but you'll need to bring your own butter, spices, etc. The Round House was adorable and decorated in a lovely cottage theme. The mattress and pillows were comfortable and provided a restful night of sleep. When we awoke, we had hot tea that was prepared using herbs off the farm. We took a quiet morning stroll through the woods and garden areas sipping our herbal teas and enjoying the peaceful foggy morning with Mongo (the farm dog) walking beside us. We fell in love with Mongo. He was sweet and well behaved and gave us a sense of security on our walk in the woods. We also enjoyed plucking berries and grapes off the vines for snacks. There was a small gift shop to browse and take home a special souvenir or two. Kateen welcomes you and then leaves you on your own to enjoy everything she offers. When our time there ended, we both hated to end our "Peace Trance".

My boyfriend spent the night there. This is his review… “My stay at Compass Rose Farms was sooooo relaxing. I got to see animals and listen to owls and ravens. The Round House was fantastic and Scott and Kateen were so kind. The kitchen was fantastic with all kinds of really cool cooking utensils and oven. Can’t wait to bring my girlfriend back!”

Wonderful unique hipcamp. Loved picking greens and fruits from the garden. The community areas were thoughtfully arranged and the walking trails were great. I was definitely inspired to make good food. Some info that I thought would be useful for others to know: unless you have a van spot, you will be walking your things in (not far, just something to consider). Vintage trailer was adorable and very comfy to stay in. The sites are close together. The tent sites offer most privacy. Can't wait to go back!

Compass Rose is a nice place to hang out. There's a full kitchen available to campers as well as a library, labyrinth, gift shop with farm made products and even a yurt with a massage table in it. If you've got time to enjoy all this, I'd recommend a visit. We were looking for a quick and cheap place to pitch our tent overnight. The spot we got was on bumpy grass that was very wet by morning. When the Hip Camp fees and taxes were included it was $62, which felt pretty steep.

Beautiful farm, kind hosts. We came in late after a 10 hr day driving through 90 degree weather. It was such a relief to have clear directions, communication, and comfy place to pitch our tent. We didn’t take full advantage of the lovely communal kitchen and garden but we will next time!

Round House
The Round House was an exquisite, hand-made building and a lovely place to stay. The land at Compass Rose is loved and enriched; there is a labyrinth, forest paths, a showerhouse, clean portajohns, a lovely communal kitchen. We ate fresh berries and greens from the garden and drank herbal teas from plants grown on the land. There is excellent signage that helps you to be clear about how things flow, the owner was kind and available, and the other folks there were all friendly. I'm a local who went as a getaway with a friend for her birthday and I look forward to returning. What a gem!

Beautiful grounds with so many plants and lush vegetation. Kitchen was really nice to have for preparing meals. Shower was a great set up and needed after long hikes everyday. As a tea lover, te tea room was super fun. Got to feed a sheep, Miss Casey, even! Mongo and Esa were lovely pups!

We had a fantastic time at this beautiful garden farm. The property offers incredible options, including a cozy yurt (for visiting not sleeping) well-spaced camp sites, and a comfortable semi-permanent tent as well as cute little trailers. The communal kitchen was fantastic and fully equipped for making great meals. As a wonderful bonus, we were welcomed by two incredibly sweet, friendly Pyrenees dogs who made the stay feel extra safe and special. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, scenic getaway!

Such a wonderful place to come back to after adventuring in Olympic national park. So peaceful. Gardens are beautiful, doggies are sweet. Kateen is a wonderful host. So many amenities that we didn’t get to take advantage of but the communal kitchen was great and I loved the outdoor shower.

Loved van camping here . Her gardens are beautiful and the community areas are helpful (hot water for tea and coffee without having to have a stove and pots and pans). They were very helpful when our car window was stuck in the open position offering us plastic and cardboard to fix the window temporarily. And the dogs 😍. It has a very healing vibe. Thanks, all!

Everything Imaginable, and More

My partner and I slept in the Round House for one night. It was truly a 10/10 experience, there were so many accommodations and activities we could experience at the farm. Kateen is an amazing host and gave us a tour of the property before we settled in. The place is so beautifully tucked away and makes you believe your in a fairy tale. Highly recommend, thank you Compass Rose Farm!
