Just 90 minutes from either Portland or Seattle, this cozy glamping site is located on 220 secluded acres of private wilderness along the Chehalis River. Sleep in a cozy queen-size bed! This wilderness campsite is located down a 2-mile gravel logging road which is steep and bumpy in a few places! Four-wheel drive is recommended in the wettest part of the winter, and please drive carefully any time of the year in whatever vehicle you bring. As a guest, you are free to access any part of the 220-acre property except other campsites (there is currently only one). This listing is located on The Riverbend Preserve, a private nature park, so there is no hunting, fishing, or foraging. Please do not discharge any firearms during your stay. The forest to the west of the Preserve is Washington State land, and on occasion locals go up into the hills to target shoot. In the unlikely event that this happens during your stay, don't be alarmed; the British are *not* coming. This land is a nature preserve with lots of wildlife. You're welcome to bring your pet, but keep small animals close to you as there are coyotes and predatory birds in abundance. Black bears and mountain lions also live in the hills, so please always be cautious while hiking and exploring. Our backyard might be the most serene you've ever been to! Eight acres of meadow and forest, surrounded by orchards, fields, and the roaring White Salmon River is the getaway that surrounds you with nature. Our 20' RV Spot with water spigot and electric plug-in is located about 100 yards from the river's edge. To enhance everyone's comfort level, we have two plumbed restroom buildings and an outdoor kitchen. Our kitchen has a microwave, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, coffee maker, electric skillet, 3 propane skillets and a grill, blender, cooking utensils, sink with running water, breakfast table, and extra seating. There is a large meadow with two propane fire pits - and of course, heckling the rafters and kayakers from the riverbank is probably the best entertainment! They love waving and yelling "helllooooo" back! The property is only 15 minutes from Hood River (to the south) and about 20 from Trout Lake (to the north). Outdoor activities are endless in the Columbia Gorge - a white water excursion down the White Salmon, local wine tastings and tours, waterfall hikes, and of course, watching the activities happening everyday at the Hood River Event Site. Unfortunately, I do not allow pets. I'm sorry!!! We have our own dogs/cats/ducks/chickens who live here and I don't want to risk any unwelcome interactions. I try to keep the dogs at our house when we have guests but should they come down to the meadow for a visit, please know that much like the cats, they are super friendly and love to hang out. While we are located on the river, I do not allow put-ins or dips from our property due to safety risk and our liability insurance - the current is quite strong and the water is glacier-cold. There is a kayak/raft drop-in at BZ Corners, a quick 3 mile drive up the road from us, or at Northwestern Park which is just down the road from us, and there are swimming holes all over the Gorge (just not right here!) Please do not venture past the rock divider at the edge of the riverbank, as doing so could subject you to poison oak that lives along the river's edge.

We had such a fun one night stay at the Fern Gully Tent (small yurt) site #1. It’s rustic but set up with just the right amenities - no electricity but there is a wood stove inside, a couple battery powers hanging lights, a solar lantern outside, charcoal grill, garbage can with garbage bags already set up for you and a lighter. The firepit has a grate on top as well which could be utilized for cooking. There’s the soothing sound of a creek running which is just behind the yurts and then on the other side a beautiful pond with all kinds of wildlife. We saw a goose and duck family with babies, some pet ducks which were extremely friendly and so cute and all kinds of wild birds abound. There’s a couple of different hiking trails nearby and a trail all around the pond to the other side where you can check out their venue. We will definitely be back to this tiny slice of heaven. We also met Mimi who was very welcoming and friendly.

1 night at Olympic Wild Retreat

Booked a single night at the Olympic Safari Tent as a quick escape from nonstop meetings, screens, and city noise, and it completely delivered. The whole place has this calm, tucked-away feeling where you instantly slow down the minute you arrive. The tent itself was comfortable and surprisingly inviting — cozy bed, warm lighting, and thoughtful details that made it feel more personal than a typical campsite. It gave me the feeling of being out in nature without sacrificing the comforts that actually make you want to stay and relax. One of the best parts was how quiet it was. You can hear the water nearby, the wind through the trees, and not much else. I saw deer walking through the area in the evening, which honestly made the whole experience feel pretty surreal coming from a week behind a laptop. The location is perfect if you want to explore the Olympic National Forest during the day or just stay put and recharge. I ended up spending most of the evening outside with a drink, enjoying the fresh air and lack of notifications. If you work in tech or spend most of your life connected to devices, this place feels like a hard reset in the best way possible. Peaceful, private, and exactly the kind of getaway I needed.

We spent two nights at the Olympic Safari Tent and it ended up being one of those trips you keep talking about after you get home. The tent feels tucked away in the woods with so much privacy that it really feels like your own little off-grid retreat, but it still has all the cozy comforts that make it easy to relax. The space was clean, warm, and thoughtfully set up. You can tell a lot of care went into the little details. We loved sitting outside in the evenings listening to the water nearby and watching deer wander through the trees. At night it was incredibly peaceful, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable after long days exploring. The location was perfect for hiking and exploring the Olympic National Forest during the day, then coming back to camp to unwind by the fire and just enjoy the quiet. It had that classic Pacific Northwest feeling — fresh air, huge trees, and total calm. What we loved most was how it felt adventurous without being roughing it. You still get the fun “away from everything” experience, but with enough creature comforts to make it feel relaxing and romantic too. Highly recommend for couples, anyone needing a reset, or people wanting a cozy basecamp for Olympic adventures. We’re already talking about coming back.

We had such a wonderful stay at this campsite! The host, Marc, was incredibly kind, responsive, and helpful throughout our entire visit. Anytime we had a question or reached out, he was quick to respond and made sure we had everything we needed. The setup was absolutely perfect for our few days there. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and ready for us — firewood, cooking supplies, a refrigerator, and even a fantastic outdoor shower. We really appreciated all the extra touches like dish soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, plus clean towels provided for the shower. The bed was very comfortable, and when the nights got a little chilly we were well taken care of with plenty of blankets and two heaters. It made the tent feel cozy and relaxing. The only small disappointment was that the wood-burning stove inside the tent isn’t available until the fall season, so we weren’t able to use it during our stay. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Overall, this was a fantastic glamping experience. Everything we needed was right there, the space was thoughtfully set up, and the host truly went above and beyond. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-equipped camping getaway! The Riverbend Preserve was beautiful, very peaceful, serene and private. There were several hiking trails available, including ones with access/views of the Chehalis river.

Weekend Trip to White Salmon River RV Campsite

I spent two nights here end of September and it was lovely to wake up to the river and crisp fall air. The nights were around 50 so the space heater in the tent was very helpful. Glad to have a wool blanket and comforter. Everything was very clean and tidy. This would be a nice spot to host a small group. The outdoor kitchen was good but I would consider bringing some extras just in case. A didn't find a cheese grater, saucepan, or single serving coffee maker (only a 6-cup pot). I brought my own pour over and used the electric kettle instead. Otherwise it is well stocked with a flat top griddle and skillets, plates, mugs etc.

We had so much fun, was the easiest fire. Lucia had a variety of split wood, from starter pieces to big logs and even stocked it with water jugs to dowse afterwards. Plus all the comfy seats and protection from the fire.

Weekend Trip to Greenstone Farm Camping

Had a wonderful day/night in the glamping tent. So many amenities offered. For a few dollars we had farm fresh eggs for breakfast, also for a small up charge we had plenty of firewood for our wood stove in our tent, and at the fire pit. The wood stove made the tent nice and cozy after the sun went down, and when we got up in the morning. The coffee maker and microwave was a nice touch also! Plates, utensils, pretty much everything provided. The bed was super comfy. And the sofa and chair made a nice place to relax while playing some games. The bath house was clean and nice. Bath houses like this are something not found at many other HipCamp facilities. This facility is truly a gemstone and worth the stay! This definitely has become a favorite for me in the future!

Weekend Trip to The Landing At Lake Ploenta

Great space! We stayed in yurt #1 fern gully! Lovely area, fun exploring trails and was so nice to stay dry in rain - glad we weren’t tent camping! First time to use Hipcamp - have always camped at state parks in past. Highly recommend!

Greater Seattle

Straddling the Puget Sound, this region includes Washington's biggest city--Seattle--and the area around it. While urban adventure takes center stage in this populated region, there are also plenty of spots to commune with nature, and even if you're based in Seattle, you'll have easy access to numerous Washington state parks.

The Washington Coast and Islands

If you want gorgeous Pacific Coast scenery, ancient forests, and whale watching to feature in your next camping trip, the Washington Coast, the Olympic Peninsula, and the state's many islands are just the ticket. Here you’ll find Olympic National Forest and its ancient Hoh Rainforest, plus plenty of small Coastal towns, such as charming Port Angeles and Port Townsend.

Northern Washington

This remote section of the state is characterized by old-growth forests, alpine lakes, and ancient glaciers. It’s also the site of North Cascades National Park, an enormous expanse of wilderness that offers mile upon mile of hiking trails and excellent campground and backcountry options for campers.

Central and Eastern Washington

With a mix of towering mountains, pristine forests, arid prairies, and plenty of cute small towns, Washington's central and eastern stretches offer some of the best camping and outdoor recreation areas in the state. Washington's second-largest city, Spokane, is located in the region, as is the Bavaria-inspired town of Leavenworth, full of German restaurants, beer gardens, and plenty of faux-world kitsch in this region.

Southern Washington

The southern part of the state is known for beautiful scenery, snow-capped peaks, and excellent wine. On the Oregon border, the Columbia River Gorge is full of beautiful spots for hikers--come in the spring and you'll be rewarded with spectacular flurries of wildflowers. The region also boasts a few world-class wineries of its own, with more to be found further north and east in Walla Walla and Yakima. The area is also home to Mount Adams, Mount Rainier and its surrounding national park, and Mount Saint Helens, which famously erupted back in 1980.
