A "far out" campground that's not too far out! Camp Moxy Jo's has been imagined to bring NATURE back to us city folks, PLAY back to us adults, and FUN of the outdoors for all. Our private campground is located in a forested area in Federal Way and is the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We have two camper vans and two vintage trailers. Goats, chickens and ducks. Firewood and eggs are also for sale. Two large fire pits, a boutique rental, and common areas of a rainy day shelter and pit stop! Parties and events are encouraged! Rent the whole place for large groups! Note: We do not accept outside vans, campers, RV's or single tents (if you rent one of our spaces, we do have tent beds to go along with that rental)

Travelers and Visitors welcome - Enjoy a peaceful stay in a quiet, safe, upscale neighborhood with expansive territorial views of Puget Sound. Both sites are semi private , with 30amp RV outlets, sewage, and water spigots with hose. This space is ideal for a sprinter van, small RV, or a non- full size trailer 18’ or less. Trailers over 18 feet are not allowed. Smoking is not allowed, not on the property, and not on the street in front of the property. The neighborhood is low traffic for walking with fantastic Salish sea views, and a beach. Redondo boardwalk, aquarium, and beach is a short drive away for easy water access. A Starbucks, Grocery Store, Laundromat, and gym are a 1 mile, quick bike ride or drive away. The Pacific Bonsai Museum is 6 miles away, and a free experience that most visitors find surprisingly interesting. Sea-Tac Airport is 23 minutes away without traffic. I strive to live and promote a peaceful and inclusive space. Good Karma and good vibes are welcome. My neighbor has two outdoor dogs, so if you have pets it’s important to manage them to keep barking to a minimum. I work as a metal artist out of my garage studio. Welding is not noisy but, grinding and cutting can be. I limit it to 9-8pm, but can easily shift to other quiet tasks if you ask. * This is a safe neighborhood, but still an in-city experience, so be sure to secure you valuables.

You may spot a great blue heron or crane as they stretch their wings for several minutes soaking up the sun. Keep an eye open for the bald eagles that have a nest in a tree at the shore. Osprey and Bald Eagles are often seen soaring above, before diving into the lake to catch a fish. The lake is stocked every May. The fishing is good here and the lake has a reputation for being especially great for Large Mouth Bass fishing. If you love to fish, then bring your fishing gear and pole. End your fun day with a relaxing bon fire on the beach or at your campsite Motorboats aren’t permitted on this lake, so it’s always serene and peaceful. No lifeguards on duty here. *Tent Camping Only* If you plan to sleep in your car, this is not the campground for you. Tuck into your private campsite amongst the trees with sweeping field and farm views. Sites are spaced apart from eachother, nestled along a forested tree line. These tent sites are about a 300ft walk from the parking lot, and vehicles can not access the sites. Each site offers a picnic table and fire pit. *Please pay attention to the fact that these are walk-in sites, and you'll be hauling your camping items from the parking area over uneven ground. We provide a cart to help tote your items, if needed. Pack accordingly* There is a communal central deck for camper's use, with a sink, propane stove, some cooking utensils, power outlet and a hose bib. A communal port-a-potty is available to campers. The working farm fields are not open to campers, but can be admired as a backdrop. Wave hi to any farmers you see out there working! A You-Pick flower patch and farm stand at the entrance of the property are open for frolicking, picture-taking and flower-picking seasonally. You'll see bald eagles, hear owls and watch deer pass through your camp. But you are only about a 5-10 min walk from town! This does mean you'll often hear music from events on weekend evenings, and plane traffic does fly overhead. Vashon is quiet and full of nature, but you're not out in the middle of nowhere! We hope you enjoy all that there is to do here, and create some great stories :)

This cozy cottage is equipped with a queen size bed in a lovely sleeping loft, a small but useful kitchen, a large trex deck with patio furniture, a comfy couch and small dining table. The separate, but luxurious, bath house has a full sized shower, sink, and fully plumbed flushing toilet. There is even a small stacked washer and dryer available. Laundry soap available for purchase. Name brand (no dollar store stuff here) shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm. The kitchen has a gas 2 burner stove, a mini fridge, toaster oven, hot water kettle, french press coffee maker, dishes, utensils, pots/pans, and other basics. The bed has 100% cotton sheets, pillow cases, and blanket. As well as a comfy coverlet. A feather alternative duvet is available for colder nights. There is only one bed and it is not recommended for small children to sleep in the loft as there is no safety rail or gate up there. If a child is present it is recommended (almost required) that they sleep on the couch in the lower living space.

We are a one hundred year old family owned farm with an organic garden, Permaculture garden, an apiary, and Christmas trees on six acres. We have Horseshoes, Tether ball, Disk Golf, Corn Hole and a small library for you to enjoy. Early spring the frogs go crazy later followed by the sounds of nesting birds. Fall is the season for migrating birds that rest at the ponds next door. August is the time to fill up on blackberries. There are individual campsites with a barbecue and picnic table and a shared fire pit. The fire pit didn't see much use last two years because of the fire danger so we have moved it to an open area that will be safer and hopefully be open longer, there is also an area at each campsite if you want to bring a propane fire ring (or we will have some for rent). You can star gaze from the fields and the major constellations can be seen on a dark night. We are becoming increasingly suburban and there is some road noise that can be heard and even with farms on three sides of us, you still might hear our neighbors in the distance. Campsites one and four are across the road from each other and campsites two and three are adjacent to each other, perfect if you have another family traveling with you. The Washington State Fair is 3.9 miles/ 13 minutes away, Tacoma Dome 7.5 miles/ 18 minutes, Point Defiance Park Zoo and Aquarium 19 miles/ 30 minutes and Wild Waves water park is 15 miles/ 26 minutes away. There is a gallery of wild life photography taken on the farm displayed in the outhouse. Eagles, hawks and Ospreys are frequent visitors to our property.

Dash Point State Park camping guide

Overview

About

It’s hard to find a better spot for an impromptu weekend getaway. Set along the shoreline between Seattle and Tacoma, Dash Point State Park has plentiful year-round tent and RV sites, along with 11 miles of hiking trails and eight miles of mountain biking trails. While there’s plenty to keep families occupied in the campground and trail system, it’s the beach that’s the star. When the tide is in, kick back to watch osprey, heron, and bald eagles intermingle with the kites flying high in the sky. When it washes out again, search for starfish, crab, and sand dollars or engage in one of the park’s most popular activities: skimboarding, a hybrid of surfing and skateboarding.

Notable campgrounds

  1. Best for privacy: Area A has spread-out campsites for campers using tents.
  2. Best for RVs: Area B features all the amenities that campervans expect.
  3. Best for extended family: The group camp consists of 12 smaller sites around a shared area for a group of up to 96.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. While the beach is often crowded with day users in summer, campsites are usually available, including on weekends.
  2. Reservations are recommended for RV campers, as the spots that accommodate larger vehicles fill up more quickly than those for tents.
  3. Seven heated cabins are available for rent (for up to five people).

When to go

While the beauty of Dash Point shines through the rains of fall, the early twilight of winter, and unpredictable meteorological swings of spring, the summer is when this beachy park is at its best. To avoid the crowds, pick a weekday overnight, which are typically less crowded. But whatever the time of year, just be sure to be on the beach in the evening to watch the sunset over the peninsula.

Know before you go

  1. Dash Point State Park is 25 miles from Seattle and 10 miles from Tacoma.
  2. Check for interpretive events in summer, as well as evening amphitheater programs on Fridays and Saturdays.
  3. Horse clams can be harvested here with a permit. Check the health status on the day of harvest at the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
  4. Showers are available in the campground restrooms.
  5. Alcohol is not allowed on the beach (but is allowed in the campground for those 21 and over).
