Ample of space for tent camping. Kids are safe to run around on the open field
We stayed on Vashon one night for a party and this was the perfect place to stay! The beds were comfy and Judy was very helpful.
It was so convenient to be able to stay right on the island and we’ll definitely be back!
Had to reschedule last minute due to injury. Host was a peach! She was very kind and understanding allowing the flexibility of rebooking at a later date.
We absolutely loved this Hipcamp and would happily stay again. There is lots of space to spread out, so campers don't feel crowded or right on top of each other. The barn has a fantastic, cozy, “homey” atmosphere, and there are several great areas for communal campfires.
The kitchen is wonderfully furnished with all the comforts and conveniences of home, which could be a huge bonus to campers.
The only challenge we experienced was caused by other campers, not the facility. A large group essentially took over the kitchen as their own, with 6–8 people cooking and gathering there several times a day. At times, I couldn't even find enough counter space to pour my coffee! I ended up washing dishes at the outdoor sinks or the bathhouse rather than trying to navigate the crowded kitchen.
At the end of our stay, I discovered there was also a smaller kitchen in another building, which I wish I had known about sooner—that would have completely solved the issue.
Overall, the facility itself gets all the stars from us! It's a beautiful, thoughtfully set-up property with plenty of space, great amenities, and a wonderful camping atmosphere. Especially if you are looking for a place to gather for a family reunion or a group retreat, look no further! The kitchen situation was simply a matter of a group of guests not being considerate of the shared space, and certainly not the host's fault.

We loved Judy and highly recommend stay at this site if given the chance. Judy was not only welcoming but she made the entire campsite feel like home. The showers are hot, the fireplace was great and our spot was gorgeous. I hope to stay here again one day!

Well the owner was sweet until she started yelling and screaming at me and threatened to call the cops and asked me to leave over my E-Scooter which not in the,her staff tried to quell the situation but it was to my late I immediately packed up and left. Would not camp here.

The shared barn and fire pit were great. Clean outdoor bathrooms and showers too. We saw some deer 🦌 on arrival. There was a large group camping too but not too loud.

Solo/Twin Micro Cabin
Super cute little cabin that os very close to the shops and restaurants. Dogs enjoyed being off leash. Quiet.
Very well maintained property with clean amenities! Very kid friendly!

A great spot in Vashon! So close to town! The barn and bathrooms here are wonderful and a friendly host! Unfortunately we had loud neighbors and barking dogs that were parked so close but we’d come again and try to park farther away next time.

Teepee with fire pit
The bear tent had one full sized cot and two twin size cots. All cots had a small sleeping pad. It was a good size and you can easily stand in it.
This was my second time at AYH, first time in a teepee. It was so nice to spur of the moment “go camping” and not worry about packing a million items. No need for a cooler, cooking utensils, air mattress, tent, etc. perfect way to try and be spontaneous with my toddler, especially by myself. Plus 5 minutes to town for food and all the other wonderful things Vashon has to offer.

Great open land, proximity to the nature preserve and downtown, awesome amenities, and clean bathrooms and showers! Perfect for camping or glamping!
This is lovelier than pictures can depict. Just the perfect getaway for families or groups of friends. The barn and field are great assets, and we had a lovely night of s’mores. When we left, my son said, “This was not what I expected, but it was so much fun!” Thank you!

I camped in my car, it was very lovely. Kitchen and showers available and the view and nature is awesome. I had not time to explore since I slept there for only one night but at the next opportunity I would book a teepee to sleep in.

We really enjoyed our stay at AYH Ranch on Vashon Island. Judy is a welcoming and kind host. We were really impressed at the cleanliness of camper parking, common areas, and the restrooms. The location is super convenient as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Easy to check in. The outdoor showers and bathrooms were so cool. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler. And Judy let me borrow a sleeping bag! Thanks Judy! 💗

There was a lot of good things about this place. One, I was able to stay relatively far from most others, making it a little more private than a state park camp. The kitchen/freezer/fridge that is open for use was super helpful. I still cooked at camp and used a cooler, but doing dishes was great. The big field where we camped was soft, and drained well. The lawn was so nice, and great for kids to just run around. Lots of dogs here for my dog to interact with. There was a trail nearby that you could walk. This place was only 10 minutes from town. The hosts were very communicative, and the price was great. One thing that was not great, was that there was only one fire pit. I had thought there would be the ability to have one at our camp. One suggestion I would have, is to make the bathrooms accessible from outside the barn. It was a bit awkward to go through the barn to go to the bathroom. There was 2 women who basically lived in the common space, sitting right outside the bathrooms, and so you walk past them a dozen times a day when going to the bathroom, taking kids to the bathroom, or taking a shower. Felt like it was their house that I was using to go to the bathroom.

AYH Ranch is an absolute gem: a big open field with many different tenting spots, clean toilets, warm showers, a communal fire pit with wood, an adjacent natural preserve and close to town. The lovely and friendly Judy runs the place impeccably. Highly recommend, will come again. 5 stars all around.

Judy’s land was the perfect spot for an overnight stay on Vashon Island. We had our VW camper van and found a convenient place to park and spend the night. The facilities were great. There is a kitchen, showers, a large event room, but this time of year all was pretty quiet.

Don’t let the bargain price fool you; Amenities include showers, bathrooms, a communal kitchen & communal fire pit. Charming Plains Indian/Pioneer motif throughout. I especially enjoyed the “Ghost Buffalo” mural on the loft of the hangout barn.
Judy is working hard to install accessible paths through the property’s forested trails, so if you care about inclusivity this is a golden opportunity to support her vision.
