The yurt is fabulous. Quite private. Yes, Megan’s house is a few feet away but it faces away from the yurt. There are other houses beyond hers but you can’t see them until you walk out into the field. It was very quiet, just birds talking to each other. It’s centrally located so it’s a short drive to any part of the island you want to explore.
And Megan is good people.
This was a solo-adventure for myself and it was perfect. Megan is so lovely and responsive. The yurt has a luxurious bed with tables in all the right spots. As detailed, there is no electricity. There are 2 lamps, that were enough for me, but if you need lots of light bring some pre-charged or battery powered lights and a flashlight to light your way to the compost toilet (it’s great!). The yurt is situated close to everything on the island, yet sits so far away from the road that it allows for the calm and quiet with amazing star gazing. Although it had been a warm day, the cross breeze through the screens made it cool by evening. The property is beautiful and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see the deer family that prefer Megan’s space to all others on the island.

We had so much fun at Megan’s property. She put so much care and attention into making the yurt a cozy and comfortable stay. The outdoor shower house and restroom were spotless and comfortable to use.
We got a little rain during our stay and the sound on the canvas roof was so soothing. Later that night we were able to enjoy a bonfire in her Adirondack chairs. We would love to glamp at Megan’s again.
A major upgrade from camping. If your pace is slower and your needs simpler than most, this is the place for you. The location is central on the island, and quiet. The space is roomy inside the yurt and out. Bywater Yurt is a gem, and Megan is super nice, approachable and responsive and curates a pleasant experience. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the property, and the island. I was sad to leave, but hope to return. Tip for those new to yurts: they let a lot of light in, so morning people do great. If you are not a morning person, bring a sleep mask. I loved the early morning light coming in from the dome on top, and the sounds of birdsong all around.

We loved the peace and quiet during the day. At night you can hear the owls, coyotes and hawks. Fabulous.
Megan’s property and the yurt feel comfortable. She has done a great job of making it groovy.

The yurt is awesome… well kept, lovely bed and futon plus two tables one for eating or playing cards. There is a cool shower and toilet setup. The toilet is compostable. The only downside is no sink to wash hands, but hand sanitizer provided. Owner is lovely and very welcoming.

It is a fun semi-off grid experience.
It’s telling me to use at least 50 characters, I don’t want to.
Megan’s property and Yurt is absolutely STUNNING. Not o my did it feel clean but it felt like a space that someone has but a lot of time, effort, and love into. Megan herself is also very kind and accommodating and made us feel so safe and at home! The outdoor shower is also a magical experience! This is not just a Yurt, it feels like a whole little retreat on Vashon Island.
The Bywater yurt is a super cute and comfortable stay on Vashon. It's quiet, near town, and Megan was a great host!
