The best dog-friendly camping in Washington

·

Washington is a great place to be a dog (or a dog owner). Many local businesses welcome pets inside and lots of local parks offer off-leash areas for dogs to run around, particularly in urban areas like Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, and Bellingham. Washington state parks are generally pet-friendly, with pets welcome at campgrounds and inside designated cabins. However, pets must be on leashes up to eight feet in length in public state park areas and aren't allowed on some swimming beaches. Pets are also welcome on most state park trails, though national parks and forests have more restrictions, and dogs are generally not allowed in Washington nature reserves. If you would rather find a place where your dog can run around freely, without a leash, choosing a pet-friendly Hipcamp may be the best option, as long as your pup is trained to respond to voice commands.
