Best camping trip in years

The land is stunning it was a different camping experience for me with the goats and horses she has but they arw all well behaved . We have had a lot of fun with the horses . Every night if I listen to music from outlander one of the horses would come out back of my tent and dance . Another one liked to talk to me my sister and my cat . Now you can feed the animals apples and carrots the horses are very funny when feeding them they will playfully chase you for more . We have had an absolute blast . My son and sister are autistic,and adhd and this is a wonderful place for them as well . The host she's been a beautiful soul a joy to talk to . Very quite here except the toad at times . Its very peaceful I recommend 100%

Day Pass

The Elysian Retreat was a peaceful space to camp on Labor Day for one night with my family. There was ample room for complete privacy and minimal campers. We enjoyed the River walk, the chirps of crickets at dusk, the horses, goats, and the resident kitty! It was a treat sharing a peaceful hug with one of the horses when we arrived. My son renamed the brown goat Aban 🐐 (Louie) and he called the kitty Puss N Boots 🐈‍⬛ (Mr. Bubba). If you consider staying here, wear boots (horse droppings litter the camp grounds though sparse). There is one maintenance out house by the gate and it’s good to bring a friend to help with opening and closing the gate if driving in. They also rope the gate off to keep the horses from standing too close to it. Close to Orting, and a local Safeway, restaurants, outdoors store, gas station, & more. Overall, the space is peaceful, the animals kept a good distance from our tent, but the cat visited during the night and the next morning, he was so sweet. We are pleased with the experience and hope to enjoy more time here in the future.

Michelle's pasture was an amazing place to camp! She was an awesone host and very responsive through messages. This was our first time camping in years, first time using HipCamp and it was a great experience. My fiance and I were greeted by a sweet cat and he helped us choose our campsite :) The view was amazing and there were plenty of places to choose to set up camp. We added on the fire ring, fire wood and eggs and it was perfect! I've never really been around horses, but they were all very sweet and friendly! Absolutely planning on coming back here !

This was such an interesting way to end our Labour day weekend trip! 15 acres of land available to camp on, and a insane view of mount rainier. Just seconds away from the cutest town as well. The horses are sweet! I was shocked seeing kids getting so close to the horses faces and they were so gentle with them. I would definitely come back to do a group camp experience.

WOW. Words cannot describe this beautiful experience I was lucky enough to enjoy!! Me and my friend booked this for a cheap stay nearby seattle and man are we so blessed to find this one! The horses and goats are so amazing and the view of mt rainier is shocking. Make sure to stop by the safeway to get apples and carrots for full experience!! Lots of love, big thankyou to property owners!!! 🐎💗

The host was super friendly and accommodating, the views from the land were gorgeous and the walk to the River is very easily accessible, there are some garter snakes along the trail so be careful where you step! Its a beautiful spot to camp, especially if youre hoping to stargaze and it was just overall an amazing experience, I would highly recommend booking here!

My family and I had a great time relaxing and enjoying animals and pasture. Host was very kind thoughtful and helpful about how to interact with animals and take advantage of surrounding attractions. Beautiful stay in August with bountiful harvest of blackberries on property ❤️🙌🏽

Very friendly horses. Plenty of room here to find some privacy. The nearby river isn’t for swimming but we found a great local swimming hole 3 miles away.

So much space to camp and many areas where there are privacy to place ur tent. Great view of rainier, sweet animals, and helpful communication with host! I would 100% return back to Elysian Retreat and have told others about my positive experience- highly recommend. Ps bring carrots to feed horses!

Everything here was lovely. We were able to figure out everything we needed. Firepit and wood was so nice to have on hand. The animals were sooo cute and it was nice to be able to hang out with them. Would absolutely stay here again.

We had an amazing experience at the Elysian Retreat. Truly grateful for Michelle for sharing and being so responsive with messages. Great spaces to set up camps and great visitors too, mainly the horses, the goats didn’t come around much, but that’s okay. The horses were very healing for our group and we enjoyed feeding them apples and carrots, and loved having them around our campsite. My dogs have never been around horses but the horses were very sweet and thankfully didn’t mind that the dogs barked at them a little bit. I was also impressed with how spacious it is and how far apart others campsites were, didn’t feel crowded at all. I do recommend bringing a shovel in case you need to relocate horse poo, but hey, it’s their home so that wasn’t a bother, and we worked around it well! The river wasn’t too far of a walk and we got to eat blackberries along the way which was very enjoyable. My cup is so full being able to camp stress free. The only thing I will say is the outhouse got pretty full toward the end of the stay but I figure they have set days it comes to get cleaned out, I would just recommend a clean out more frequently if that many people are staying there. Overall, great experience and we do plan on visiting again. Thanks again for sharing this beautiful place.

So I may be biased because I’m a “horse girl” but I had the best time here. My family loved it too. The nearby creek and river were both beautiful to explore. I can’t even explain to you how amazing the horses were…💗😭💐 Such gentle angels, truly. The camp host was so sweet with us and the horses, she showed me each ones favorite scratchy spots and was friendly and helpful with all our needs and infringed on our privacy. My only warning is be ready for horse poop, but also duh it’s a pasture, you get to live with horses. Its a great experience 💐

This place was awesome, very quiet and calm, Sheyla is a great host Was very easy to get there, just have to pay atention to the sign in the entrance The horses are very friendly and they rent fire pit and sell wood cheaper than other parts The land is big so you have many options for camping

Incredible Camping Experience!

At this campground you get to pick your own camp site on the property which was really neat because I could set up my tent directly in the shade on a hot day. At one point a bunch of goats came up by our tent to say hi which was an adorable surprise!! I stayed here before a concert at White River Amphitheater which was a 30 minute commute that avoided much of the traffic around the venue. Very cute little spot!

Great location right off the Foothills Trail and only a 5 minute bike ride into downtown Orting. There are several small groves of trees that provide separation from other campers.

My husband and I stayed here to be closer to the white river Amphitheatre and it was so much fun!!! The horses were so sweet and friendly, 10/10 would recommend staying here!

The owner, Michelle was very responsive and communicative. Sheila the camp host was an absolute blessing recruiting help to move us to a different camping spot and help get our tent working that was giving me grief the property is beautiful. The horses were very gentle and sweet. My daughter loved feeding and brushing them. We came right next to a little creek walks down a trail to the river and floated on inner tubes. There were a lot of blackberry and raspberry bushes along the way, we felt safe, and the staff was very friendly.

My friends and I had a great time and the owners were great and very helpful. The horses and goats were so sweet and I even found a kitty that was just as nice. The view of Mt. Rainier was great for photos and there’s a river nearby that is nice to cool off in. Overall great experience!

Elysian Retreat Site 10

This is the first hipcamp that I have ever showed up to and straight up left :( I was so excited about this as it has a beautiful view of Mt. Rainer. This location gave my partner and I odd feelings from the get go. The hipcamp host shared that someone lived on site and was there to assist guests when needed, which has been the case at a few of my hipcamp stays and have been completely fine. They are normally the owners of the land. This individual lives in tents in the far corner. There was also another family there with tarps, trucks, and trailers taking up a huge section of the property. Right when we arrived, a child was by the gate and almost in tears about how they lost their parents. Low and behold, this child is who lives on the other side of the field. I am not sure for how long they reside there, I do not want to make assumptions. But - it is definitely longer than a few weeks. It was just concerning. Please save your money on camping on a normal campground if you are in this area.
