Welcome to Elysian Retreat, our peaceful 15-acre slice of paradise out here in Orting, WA! We’ve got a little bit of everything—wide-open pastures, shady tree canopies, and dense woods. It’s the perfect, laid-back backdrop whether you're looking for an outdoor adventure or just want to unplug and relax. 🥾 Trail & River Access Head over to the northwest corner of the paddock and you'll find a coded gate. From there, it’s just a quick, scenic 5-minute walk or bike ride down a cleared path that opens right up to the Orting Foothills Trail and beautiful views of the Carbon River. (Check out our listing photos to see the map!) 🌲 Critters & Streams A lazy little stream meanders right through the property, which makes it a favorite hangout for local wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for majestic elk, deer, and waterfowl passing through. You’ll also be sharing the space with our friendly resident herd of five horses and four goats! They roam safely inside the fenced areas and love wandering over to greet guests. 🚗 Parking & PNW Weather You can park right inside our securely locked pasture, so your rig is safe and close by. If the classic Washington rain decides to show up and soften the ground, don't worry—we’ll easily coordinate alternative parking on solid ground so you stay mud-free. 🍳 Camp Extras Want to make your camp setup extra cozy? Head over to our "Extras" section before you check out. You can rent one of our portable fire pits (just please drop it back off at the pickup spot when you leave), grab bundles of firewood, or score a dozen fresh farm eggs from our chickens (when they're cooperatively laying!). 📍 How Close We Are: 5 Mins to Downtown Orting 40 Mins to Mount Rainier National Park 45 Mins to SeaTac Airport Leave the city noise behind and come enjoy the valley life. I love it here it's so peaceful and quiet you become one with nature and and nature becomes one with you. It's cool to hear the coyotes at night and the little noises of animals that lurk around and the stars are amazing on a clear night definitely a place to come to to relax and enjoy nature and the view of Mount Rainier is breathtaking

This campsite is scenic, peaceful, and conveniently close to town, with easy access to a trail and river. The open pasture and friendly horses add to the experience. Keep food and belongings secured in your vehicle, expect some road noise, and be aware that the entrance sign is easy to miss from the road. Since horses use the area, bringing a shovel for manure cleanup is also a good idea. Overall, it’s a convenient and enjoyable campsite with great outdoor access, though improved signage would make arrival easier.

Plenty of space to camp! The entrance is kind of hidden and traffic is not prepared to slow down for people turning there. The horses are friendly! Very close to rivers and trails. Can’t beat the price, that’s for sure! Beautiful view of Mount Rainier. Close to the road so there is some road noise and quite a few airplanes fly overhead. Overall it was an amazing experience. You can rent a fire pit for $5 and fire wood is only $5! 🙂

I loved the place. Yes the ground is a little bumpy as mentioned in other reviews. Just means you need to watch where you walk. The horses were extremely friendly, we loved feeding them carrots and petting them. The mountain was out! Where I think we camped (camp site 2) did not have a great view of the mountain, but we enjoyed walking around a bit and viewing it. There were only 3 other families camping at the same time so it was nice to feel like we almost had the place to ourselves. We purchased wood and rented the fire pit. We will definitely be back.

This was my first time using Hipcamper, Absolutely loved our stay here! The property is beautiful and peaceful, and the animals truly make it something special. The horses and goats were incredibly friendly and added so much joy to our experience which was such a treat to wake up and spend time around them. The hosts were wonderful: welcoming, kind, and clearly passionate about their land and the animals. They made us feel right at home, and everything was well cared for, thoughtfully set up, and exactly as described and more. This was the perfect mix of comfort, nature, and charm. We highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a warm, unique, and memorable first Hipcamp experience.

Nice spot. Plenty of flat area to choose from. The horses and goats were cool. The horses will swarm you if you try to feed them, so just be mindful of that and follow basic horse safety rules.

Amazing, great friendly animals, easy pasture to navigate, could get muddy if wet. We had good weather but poor visibility so no view was available. Hosts were very nice and we appreciate them letting us stay on their land. The eggs were very good!

This was my first time booking with Hipcamp and stayed 2 nights. The camping itself was just like dispersed camping (no bathrooms, no assigned site, etc). The animals on the property made it worth it. I had so much fun feeding and petting the horses. All the horses and goats have such personalities (especially Louie the goat). Will definitely come back in the future!

Overall, this is a totally fine place with plenty of space for campers. It is mostly priced according to what it is, but I think would really benefit from at least a pit toilet, given the exposure to the road and other sites. There were 4 groups of campers when we went, and the back bit of the property where there are more trees is the only part that really makes sense to camp at, so we were all in view of one another- not a big issue, but would be better with a very simple toilet option.

We came for peace and nature… stayed because a black horse with a white mark guilt-tripped us into giving him all the carrots. Quiet, peaceful, and full of animal charm. The eggs were fresh, the fire pit was perfect, and the horses were the real hosts. Not for glampers — but perfect if you love real camping with four-legged neighbors.

The view is great! The ground a little lumpy. The horses are sweet and curious about your tent at night. There are no facilities so bring your own or plan to leave. The people are really nice. There is quite a bit of noise from the highway, airplanes, and a generator. But the view is pretty great. Would camp here again in a pinch and with a better sleeping mattress.

I really enjoyed this camping experience. It was different but beautiful. I love the goats and horses roaming the property. It is pretty out on the open and you can choose wherever on the field to camp. There are some more tucked away spots on the sides if you want more privacy. I would book here again (:

Huge open area where we can camp in many places on the property. The horses there all came up to us and was such a wonderful moment to pet them! We came on 4th of July weekend and even with other campers there, we had a great time. Definitely will be back in the future!

We gave this campsite 3 out of 5 stars. The ground was quite uneven, and it wasn’t very clear where the designated tent areas were. The surface was dusty with patches of thorny bushes, which made it a bit challenging and less ideal for families with young children. That said, it was a peaceful location away from the main road, and being surrounded by horses and goats made it a unique experience. If you’re looking for a quiet place to enjoy nature, this spot has great potential. We would love to come back in the future if some of the current inconveniences are improved.
