Important to know before booking: there is no toilet on the property and no garbage service. The cabin and decks are private and off-limits to guests. The Island Shores Community Beach (with a boat launch ramp, just north of the house on the beach) is also private and not for camper use. Pets are welcome on a leash; a wildlife preserve with nesting birds sits next door, so leashes apply on the beach too.
About 2 to 2.5 hours from Seattle via Tacoma and the Harstine Island bridge. We hope our guests enjoy the tranquility of this place as much as we do.

Please note, this is HARSTINE ISLAND, NOT HERRON. I haven't gotten Hipcamp to fix this yet. There is a bridge to the island and the coordinates offered for site are correct. The map says beach shore Rd but the physical sign says Klondike.

Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fire pit for another.. 2 meadow sites in 5 acres, a forested tent sight coming. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet.
Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry!
One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well.
There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage.
Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. One lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing!
Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Frequently people have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out.
Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

This special place has sweeping views, including a stunning shot of Mount Rainier on clear days. Surrounded by forested land including a park preserve, the land is usually quiet and fairly private. A great place to watch birds, access multiple park trails by foot, or just enjoy being outside in nature. If you plan to bring a dog, do check which trails do and don't allow four-footed friends. There are old fruit trees on the land that give plentiful fruit (most years) starting in August, and depending on the time of year you'll also find blackberries, huckleberries and salal berries. (Do watch for sporadic spots of poison oak but they are few and far between.) Plenty of spots to set up tents, as well as two van-designated camping spots separate and not in eye-shot from tent-camping meadow. Serving all is an outdoor/covered low-tech compost toilet tucked into the trees a couple minutes walk from the meadow. There is also a spigot near the parking area with hose where you can rinse off dishes, gear etc. If you'd like to drink this water, we recommend filtering it first. A public swimming hole on Lake Florence is a short drive away, along with beaches. Check back with us in the future as well, because we have big plans for additional amenities.

Sitting in comfy camp chairs on the covered porch can be magical during a spring rain. Outhouse with nightlight and composting toilet. Firepit with kindling and firewood in winter. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey.
The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups!
Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi.
About the campground:
The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins.
There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊
The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

The place has been farmland since about 1926. It became a family horse property with three pastures and now is a small lavender and blackberry farm. While it is limited to two RV sites, there may be farm visitors walking around the area. Tall cedars and fir remain in the back of the property and provide for a forest experience. It is not a commercial campground. We are now turning it into a small lavender farm. About half of the original pasture is now covered in black ground mat and 3,000 newly planted lavender.

One acre pasture for dry RV camping (no restroom facilities). There is a potable water/hose bib and an auxilliary 110 volt 15 amp AC connection via extension cord from barn. You should rely primarily on your own power. Walking trails are in cedar trees and on hill across 10 acres with flower fields and blackberry "farm". Free blackberry picking in season (August and Early September). Deer, racoons, foxes, bald eagles and occassional coyote on site. Keep food and trash secure. No toilet or sewer available. There is one portable "porta potty" type facility. Dry camping only, no camp fires allowed due to fire conditions. Pack out own trash/garbage. No Pets allowed. Only visible neighbors are three horses on neigboring 10 acre farm property. There is Wi-Fi. Beach access has been closed.

We offer two unique stays:
The Dream Dome: a 16-foot glamping dome tucked into its own private area, with space nearby for an additional tent if desired. It includes a cozy woodstove, electricity, and an outdoor setup with a propane firepit and portable bbq for simple meals under the trees.
The Birdhouse: a charming one-room tiny cabin with a covered porch, also equipped with a woodstove and electricity. A perfect perch for quiet mornings and slow evenings. This space also has a propane firetable on the porch and access to the bbq.
Both units share access to “Alice,” our lovingly renovated vintage trailer just steps away, which includes a kitchen and bathroom. There is also a luxurious outdoor shower for those who enjoy bathing under the trees.
This is a place for rest, reflection, and gentle adventure where forest meets water, and something within you has space to unfold.

Weekend Trip to Elevation Hive Forest Retreat
Stayed at the Dream Dome, it was very clean and cozy. Lots of provided amenities made the stay very smooth and convenient. Enjoyed the provided propane grill and cooking supplies. Just steps away from the beach.

Bob & Cindy (rest in paradise) have made the perfect, serene hideaway that is still not far from fuel and necessities in town. You feel like you're in a quiet Disney movie with deer that approach to say hello and bunnies stand at your feet. The gardens are beautiful and the fruit trees are gorgeous. Bob is one of the most approachable, blessed men we have ever come across. Always willing to help with everything. We miss it already!!

This place is a gem! Secluded from city life, but close enough to do what you want. We rented the deck site which was beyond fabulous. Our only concern was trying to get the rig level, as the gravel pad drops off to the side. We figured it out, though. They have a cute shed area with a couple bathrooms on the sides and a sink between. Our stay was wonderful and we hope to go back!

The hosts were wonderful and attentive. We had the BEST time! Lots of trails. Great signage for the beach. We loved having the path lit to the porta potties! Next to the restrooms was a sink for our use… loved that!! Birds and chipmunks everywhere. We were also visited by an owl!! What a great time! Thank you for everything Carrie and John <3

Beautiful, peaceful site tucked away in the trees. You can hear the creek trickling in the background, which makes it incredibly relaxing. The site is spacious, easy to access, and feels very safe and private.
Having water and 30-amp power right at the site is a huge plus, and the host is very responsive and helpful. A wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the surroundings. I would definitely stay here again!

What a VERY pleasant surprise and total getaway! Molly and Jake were wonderful hosts assuring we were settled in and we appreciated so much their opening up their little hidden meadow paradise.
It was a great location for us. Close to our daughter in Olympia - she was able to join us and tent on the site with us. The husband enjoyed the proximity to hiking,biking and a soak in the small hot tub and I savored the quiet to recover from a nasty cold.
All in all it has risen to top our list of most favorite Hip Camps!

I stayed here just under two weeks and had a really good stay.. The spot itself is level and has a nice private area. It is situated about 15–20 minutes from town and is in a really quiet area. Friendly host and neighbors. I would stay here again and would recommend to others looking for a quiet and peaceful place.

3 nights at Neighborwood: An Eco Retreat
Forest bathing and a wonderful vintage tiny home on the forest. Cooked great food in the lovely oven and range. Tyler daily lipsticks the honey bucket with daily cleaning including flowers and essential oil. Beautiful large leaf maple forest and a host that welcomes you to the experience.

Wow! This was our first stay ever using Hipcamp and it was such a spur of the moment choice! It was the first place we clicked on and OH. MY. GOSH!
This was such a beautiful location with a unique and welcoming atmosphere! My girlfriend was so appreciative of the clean bathroom/honey bucket on site! The hot tub was incredible and such a treat to end the night! Jake checked in with us to see if there was anything that needed tending to shortly after we arrived, which was so nice of him to do!
I would absolutely stay here again and would love to do a group trip in the future as the price is more than fair!

Overview
About
Boaters, kayakers, canoeists and paddlers find seclusion and serenity at this forested park on South Puget Sound. The views are sensational at the small, well-maintained 106-acre marine camping park on Key Peninsula. Joemma Beach boasts a super-long pier and the only boat launch with vehicle parking on the peninsula.
A year-round day use area makes picturesque picnicking and beachcombing a breeze. But the park with 3,000 feet of saltwater frontage is really a haven for boaters. Joemma is legendary for its fishing and crabbing.
If uncrowded, rustic camping appeals, you'll find 19 primitive tent sites here and five vault toilets. Campers arriving by human-powered watercraft enjoy two Cascadia Marine Trail sites. And those journeying on foot or spoked wheels find two primitive hiker/biker sites waiting.
All campsites are first-come, first-served at this beautiful Washington State Park not far from Olympia and Tacoma. The campground is closed from November 1 - February 28.

When to go
The best time to visit Joemma Beach State Park is from mid-May to mid-October, when the docks are open and the weather is mild. Winter offers a quiet retreat, though some facilities may be limited.
Know before you go
- Check the park's current burn ban status to know if campfires are permitted during your visit.
- Remember to bring a Discover Pass for park access, available for $30 annually or $10 for a one-day pass.
- Keep dogs on a leash and be aware that horses are not allowed in the park.
- Accessible campsites and restrooms are available to accommodate visitors with disabilities.
- Plan your visit around park hours, open from 8am to dusk, regardless of the season.
