Entire Hairy Eagle Campsite

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but primarily because our group booked two of the three campsites and the third site remained vacant. If another group had been there, I think the experience would have felt much less private. The biggest disappointment was the view. The listing photos appear to be several years old, and the trees have grown in significantly since then. The view is now much more obstructed than advertised and would benefit from some maintenance. The host also seemed tired of answering guest questions. We asked a few basic questions before and during our stay and either received brief, unhelpful responses or no response at all. The outhouse and hot shower are appreciated since there are no sewer hookups, but they're shared between all campsites and offer limited privacy. There's also only one shared water hookup for RVs/campers. The road up to the campsites is steep, narrow, and can be intimidating while towing. We made it without issue, but if another camper had been coming the opposite direction, it could have created a difficult situation. A system to coordinate arrivals for larger rigs would be helpful. Overall, I'd recommend this property for large groups booking all the campsites together. Just be aware that you'll still be within view of the host's house, the facilities are shared, and the current view doesn't reflect the listing photos.

This is an amazing HipCamp! We stayed at Green Picnic Table which has more privacy, but less striking views than the other two spots. We were thrilled to be in that spot, exploring the property on the trails. It was easy to get to the property, get water from the well, and get a fire going. We would definitely return!

Entire Hairy Eagle Campsite

Stunning views and wild forest trail. Compost outhouse, electric, water, and a warm shower. Couldn't ask for anything else.

Pink picnic table was amazing! By far had the best view of the mountain. Had good privacy from other sites/main house. Property was great, tons of space, bathroom and good water to use. Easy to get there, good info from host! 11am check-in was amazing!! Would 100% come back, maybe rent the whole spot with friends/family!

Absolutely loved the hairy eagle lookout! Felt safe and had tons of privacy and the view was incredible! It got better as time went on and the sky cleared up. Absolutely gorgeous and would definitely stay again!

Love this camping spot! Second time at this location (different tables) but each picnic table area is amazing for our 8-person tent for the 4 us. The view at this property is unbeatable! Thanks for having us, cannot wait to come back in the future <3

This location was a disappointment. This was not the relaxing last night of our trip that I had hoped it would be. We will not be back. There were a issues. First, the power post has a known problem and kept tripping off. (We have a class B van). We were never able to get it to stay on. We reached and and contacted the owner as well as HIPCAMP, The owner told us he was already aware of the issue and had other vans in the past have the same problems. However then he attempted to imply the issue was with our van, (it's a 2026), We had been camping for 6 straight nights at various locations with no problem and returned to our home the next night and plugged in with no issue. Also, he allowed a class C van in the next spot with a large tent that came right into our spot . I requested a price adjustment, due to a lack of power, he ignored me, I then contacted him through the HIP CAMP process and he denied a refund or adjustment. Buyer beware.

Campsite was as advertised. We loved it. We camped with our 30-foot camper, no problem. We will definitely come back. Quiet, with lots of beautiful birds. We saw or heard about 15 different species, really enjoyed the morning doves. Frank

Who knew such a spot existed so close to home? I usually have to drive out 2-3 hours to find sites with such a view. Even though it was cloudy during my stay and only saw Mt Rainier the day I arrived it was still worth it. Incredibly quiet and peaceful. My parents came out for a day to visit and already want to book a trip back for themselves!

Yellow Picnic Table Rocked!

We stayed for a week and wish it could have been longer. The views were great, very pleasant spots. Most of the week we were largely the only people there, and when others were in the couple of adjacent spots, there was still plenty of privacy. Definitely will stay again! Convenient to Olympia, Hood Canal, as we had things to do in both during the week. We had visits from tons of little brown birds, some deer (some of whom graze along the road/driveway), a few eagles and an owl. Simple interactions city dwellers generally can’t enjoy.

nice little spot! good view as many previous reviews mention (you can see the capitol building at night which i was not expecting). clean spacious area. open field would be great for families with children. we saw around 10 different bird species from our site too if you're filling out your ebird app ;)

We loved tent camping on Davids land, the views were beautiful and hearing the songbirds was such a plus! We picked the furthest campsite from people, but unfortunately our site neighbors weren’t very considerate. We were woken up pretty early by dogs and heard barking and children screaming all day. Once we turned around and saw kids in the woods right behind us. If you want to avoid this possibility maybe book during the week. The campsites themselves are spaced out nicely, with a centering outhouse and field. Green table had the most privacy and space out of them all with trees lining the area. We were happy we brought our canopy when the sun came out because we didn’t bring sunscreen! If we had different neighbors this would have been perfect. It did have swings to play on though which we had fun with :) We would definitely love to come back again! Thank you David for having us!

Beautiful camping area at the top of a local hill giving you views of the end of the sound and 3 of the region's tallest mountains. Peaceful and quiet even though this location is just outside town. I would totally stay here again.

We had so much fun going on a little walk down the trail, swining on the massive swing, having a fire and taking a look at one of the most beautiful views! The well water, outhouse, and shower were all clean and perfect.

Beautiful spot just on the outskirts of Olympia. It felt very private with the most beautiful views. We stayed at the pink table site, but all were lovely and well spaced out with privacy between each. Very well kept, my dog loved watching all the bunnies! Would stay again :)
