Please note, this is HARSTINE ISLAND, NOT HERRON. I haven't gotten Hipcamp to fix this yet. There is a bridge to the island and the coordinates offered for site are correct. The map says beach shore Rd but the physical sign says Klondike.

Beautiful peaceful forest with trails, a great spot for elopements (elopement package separate) and a beautiful meadow with a small ringed fire pit for one site and a movable fire pit for another.. 2 meadow sites in 5 acres, a forested tent sight coming. 70% of the Island is forestry but sound DOES carry a long way so it's not dead-quiet.
Harstine Island has a BRIDGE, no ferry!
One hammock is left up in the forest and there are places for your hammocks to be hung, as well.
There is one spot on drive that is between two trees so you need to go slowly and be careful, 9 foot wide at wheel base only. Please take note of this. Easy for cars, a bit tricky for some trailer/RVs. Photo and video can be seen on webpage.
Types of wildlife include barred owls, a nighthawk usually in summer can be seen at dusk, western alligator lizards, warblers, robins, crows, wrens, a bear has visited before (lucky me heard it 'woof' at me, bear didn't appreciate my singing), deer, others have seen red fox in the past but we have not been so lucky. Birder's paradise. One lovely review calls it a great place for forest bathing!
Puget sound is SO clean here with a diverse salt water life. Orca and Humpback have been spotted nearby. You can track them at Orca Network or Puget Sound Whale Sightings on Facebook. Frequently people have seen orca making rounds with the incoming tide going under the bridge and circling the island! There is Jarrell Cove state park and a boat ramp at Latimer's Landing Boat Launch few miles way. There is a great local market at the community center Saturdays from 10-12 in the summer. No water view, this is heavy forest off a gravel drive into privacy. No power, no water, pack it in pack it out.
Please be careful of deer when you are driving in and observe island speed limits. Familiarize yourself with the personal fire extinguisher at the site.

Pets are welcome on a leash; a wildlife preserve with nesting birds sits next door, so leashes apply on the beach too.
About 2 to 2.5 hours from Seattle via Tacoma and the Harstine Island bridge. We hope our guests enjoy the tranquility of this place as much as we do.

We are located on a very private property (the only houses you will see are across the inlet) surrounded by nature but only about 10 minutes from downtown Olympia and 5 minutes from I-5 and Lacey.
The property is situated on the very south end of Henderson Inlet. We are on the tide flats so twice a day (at high tide) we have the opportunity to explore on the water in canoes and kayaks. The property is spread over 16 acres and is comprised of two large fields (one in front of our home and the other is a smaller meadow off to the side (hidden meadow) and forest land. There is tons of space for playing, exploring and tiring out your kids and pups!
Wildlife is abound with eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, shore birds and a variety of forest birds make this place their home. We are also frequented by the local deer who wonder through and say hi.
About the campground:
The campground is located in the far northeast corner of the property on the edge of the forest and meadow. In the common areas you will find the porta potty, shower and sink. There is also a supply closet that has the yard games and extra supplies. There is a hot tub situated right on the edge of the forest with peek-a-boo views of the inlet. You will also find garbage and recycling bins.
There are trails throughout the forest along the 600 feet of water (tide) front. Along the trails you will find several different benches, seats and swings to relax and enjoy nature from. There are also fairies and gnomes who have been sighted in the forest. If you look closely, you might spot one too! We ware, if you touch a fairy or gnome they do lose their magical powers so please respect the mystical creatures. 😊
The sites are about 500 feet from our house and offer great privacy. You may see us throughout the day and evening coming and going from the campground, working on the property or playing with the kids on the trails!

When returning, enjoy what the property has to offer. A trailhead beckons you to the shores of Mill Creek. If you pause along the trail, wildlife will stir from their hiding places. Song birds, rabbits, deer, voles – yes. But also river otters, beavers, ducks, owls, and coyotes. The trail is historic to the property - you will find remnants of fallen barbed wire fences, an abandoned electrical post from 70 years ago, and a 1960’s sedan, all taken back by the forest.
A wetland boardwalk ushers you to a creekside deck. A birdwatcher's paradise, here you can kayak into Lake Isabella or tube downstream. This is private access -- the expansive wetlands prevent neighbors - you will only share this special space with the occasional kayaker. There is a beaver dam just upstream, and if you visit at twilight you will hear them stir from dens along the bank.
When hunger stirs, stroll north along the trail to a secluded upland picnic table. Dine among the woodland animals.
Between our rental cottage and RV site is a large propane fire pit with half-moon seating - perfect for roasting S'mores late into the evening or stargazing in a region remote from city lights.
With just a single RV site and cottage, the nearest neighbor acres away, and only State land between the property and Hwy 101, you can expect a private stay in a forested setting with easy freeway access to the Olympics on one side and an idyllic private creek side nature preserve on the other. This special place has sweeping views, including a stunning shot of Mount Rainier on clear days. Surrounded by forested land including a park preserve, the land is usually quiet and fairly private. A great place to watch birds, access multiple park trails by foot, or just enjoy being outside in nature. If you plan to bring a dog, do check which trails do and don't allow four-footed friends. There are old fruit trees on the land that give plentiful fruit (most years) starting in August, and depending on the time of year you'll also find blackberries, huckleberries and salal berries. (Do watch for sporadic spots of poison oak but they are few and far between.) Plenty of spots to set up tents, as well as two van-designated camping spots separate and not in eye-shot from tent-camping meadow. Serving all is an outdoor/covered low-tech compost toilet tucked into the trees a couple minutes walk from the meadow. There is also a spigot near the parking area with hose where you can rinse off dishes, gear etc. If you'd like to drink this water, we recommend filtering it first. A public swimming hole on Lake Florence is a short drive away, along with beaches. Check back with us in the future as well, because we have big plans for additional amenities.

Cute little wood cabin on a large, quiet lot, with covered porch looking out towards the water near the end of Cole's Point. Gravity fed fresh water at the sink on the porch. (Summer fires are not allowed.) Short walk to the beach to the north. Short walk south to the edge of the Oro Bay as well. Kayaks can be rented on island. (Not related to the host.) Multiple hikes / walks within Jacob's Point, Andy's Marine Park, and 7 other parks on island. One wonderful little grocery store on island for fresh or incidental items along with one cafe, and one restaurant. The historic Johnson Farm and Museum can be a great place to sample island life from 100+ years ago. Pay extra for use of the twin electric bikes to ride the many quiet, scenic roads around the island. These roads can take you to the hikes, the store, cafe, or sample the sights like the 1928 ferry "Ocean City" slowly sinking into the mud in Oro Bay. There is often deer, hawks, eagles, coyotes, bunnies, and sometimes humpback or orca whales, all within sight of the cabin. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of the city and enjoy the solitude interrupted only by the sound of the birds, and perhaps the distant trains about 3 miles away. Writer looking for a spot to focus on your next book? Reader wanting to finish a good book? Both are a perfect fit. Dogs are welcome but cannot run free due to the native animals that call the area home. The ferry is a 1 hour walk so cars are recommended. The Steilacoom ferry to Anderson Island leaves from the wonderful historic town of Steilacoom which is also well worth visiting. There is no smoking of any kind in the cabin or on the property. About the site:
This 17-foot 2005 Jay Feather Ultra Lite trailer is clean and cozy - perfect for one or two people. A third person is welcome, but it will likely be a little cramped. The double bed has a memory foam mattress and is made-up with quality sheets. Towels are provided at no extra cost.
The kitchen has a 3 burner propane stove and oven, a small fridge, a microwave, and sink. Coffee, tea, tea kettle, French Press, creamer, and sugar are provided, as well as a few dishes, a pot and pan, and utensils.
The spring water is sourced directly from our property and filtered, so you can enjoy it from the tap! In my opinion, it's some of the best water around - feel free to fill up before you depart.
The site is set back from WA-State Route 106, but only by about 20 yards. There is traffic noise during the day, but it's not too bad, and it is typically pretty quiet at night. Hopefully you enjoy the sounds of wildlife ~ birds, lapping waves, and even a creek add to the experience.
A panoramic view of the estuary is one of the best parts of this property. It's dreamy, really. With the tide changing every 6 hours, you just can't get bored. You may fall asleep to tide flats and wake up to what feels like a lake.
If you like being on or in the water - bring some kayaks, surf or paddle boards, and some high quality water shoes (never go barefoot!). You will have access to 400 feet of private beach and tide flats. Kayaking is tide dependent - recommendations for paddle times will be in the binder.
(Currently closed to harvesting 6/23) If you have your shellfish license, feel free to harvest a few oysters or clams (depending on DOH recommendations) . Be aware - it is a rustic beach, and it is across the highway, so watch for traffic and watch your step on the beach.
Our house is within sight of the trailer, but you have to make an effort to see it. From our house, we can only see the parking spot, and due to shrubbery & a shed, we can't hear talking voices, so it is pretty private. We do have 2 very friendly, small dogs who will undoubtedly alert us to your arrival, but they stay on our deck and quiet down right away.
A welcome binder and maps will help you get an idea of the area. For a tiny town, Union has a LOT to offer - there are several dining choices within a few miles. Union was even listed in the top 10 "Prettiest Towns in America" in Forbes Magazine in 2009!

You agree to positive non confrontational, non aggressive, non violent communication. Children need to be under adult supervision at all times in the campground, and be in campsites at dusk. Campers are responsible for everyone at their campsite. Guests must leave at dusk. Quiet time is from 10:00 pm to 9:00 am. Radios/music must go off at this time. Please be courteous of neighbors by keeping noise levels down and confined to your site to ensure that everyone has a good camping experience.
NO littering, fires or fireworks allowed. October – May out door BBQ or propane fire pit OK if you have ability to extinguish a fire. No smoking outside of your campsite. Glass containers/bottles, cigarettes/joints are not permitted outside of your campsite. You agree to dispose/recycle your own waste. Pack out what you pack in. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.
Do not harm the wildlife. Dogs must be leashed (6ft max leash) at all times and cleaned up after immediately and cannot be left unattended in your Campsite. Speed limit throughout the campground is 5mph. Please do not park along any of the roads; they must be kept clear for emergency vehicles.
The Camper will use the Campsite in a manner which is safe, orderly, lawful, sanitary, clean and respectful of the rights of other Campers The Campground is not liable for weather conditions, natural events, damages caused by wrongful conduct or carelessness of others, any injury, damage, or loss/theft. You are responsible for taking precautions for your own safety.

It's a peaceful forest setting for tent camping. Toby is very nice. Right now there are more blackberries than you can eat. I'm really glad we ended up there on our way to Hood Canal. If you have the RV site, don't drive up the hill; pull in straight and walk up to the house. The sites are a walk to the bathroom, but it is a flushie (!)

We had a relaxing time at this property. It was nice to walk down to the dock. We didn’t go into the lake but the water was warm. We were able to fit our 30ft trailer but had to maneuver to get it in there with our truck. The owner stopped by to say hi and was super nice. Overall we would come stay here again and highly recommend for a chill weekend.

This was the best Hipcamp experience we've ever had. The island is so gorgeous and the land that Sara is on is like no other in the area. The camping area is away from the home so it actually feels like your own piece of land. The directions to and from were very clear, bathroom experience was nice, the trails on the property we stunning, and the quiet space was perfect. I would love to stay again am looking forward to see what more comes to this space.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was so quiet and relaxing at night. We cooked some great meals on the gas burning stove. Explored the state park near by and went paddle boarding. Tyler was attentive to any issues we had which was only needing help with the water. Definitely recommend.

We visited this camp site for the second time, and our stay was great again! Molly and Jake are absolutely incredible hosts, extremely responsive and supportive.
The camp site itself is very nice for your luxury vacation because you get shower with warm water and toilets (according to your group size, we received an additional/third portable toilet for our group of almost 40 people. We also were super pleased by provided kids tools for toilets and hand washing station. Such wise support is greatly appreciated!
We love the site itself as it is private and comfy while you have 10-15 min drive to supermarkets if you forgot something.
There are two outlets stations which is also very helpful for a big company to charge phones.
The site is close to the Henderson Inlet shore, and our kids were so surprised by the water level changes during the day. They were able to swim on kayaks after 3 PM.
In addition, we love the common space near the campfire. For two years in the row, we used it for evenings play in Mafia as a whole group.
We are strongly recommend the place for families with kids because you will have everything necessary for hygiene. So, even babies around 5 months were good for a comfortable stay.

7 nights at Fischer's Place on the Estuary
Absolutely perfect place! Amazing view, wonderful hosts, and tasty treats! We were welcomed by a hand typed letter and some welcoming gifts, which were so sweet since it was my fiancés birthday trip. We stayed a week, and wished we could stay even longer! Camas and her father were so sweet to us, the best hosts ever(great conversation too!) We are definitely looking forward to coming back again.

The property that the site sits on is amazing. So many incredible views, including a view of the capital building. Green table is the biggest site and Pink table has the best view which is where I'll mostly like camp next time. The well water is delicious! It's so close to the free way and also to stores.

We had a great stay here and the owners were especially kind as they gave recommendations for some things in the area to do with our kids in the area. We used this as a place to hang out during the evening and early morning while traveling out to various parts of the greater Seattle area. My boys especially loved the fishing right from the dock and kayaks. Getting our 25' trailer in was a little difficult but managed it fine after allowing the road to clear around us. Definitely worth a stay.

Sarah’s land was serene and we had a lovely stay in the stargazer yurt! The road up was easily accessible in an AWD and clearly marked. The space was clean and Sarah was accommodating for our short trip. My partner and I would be happy to stay here again.

We were there on weekdays and lucky enough to have the whole space to ourselves! The giant swing was a massive hit with my daughter. Would go again and bring friends!

The best experience and outcome I could have asked for when taking my 2 month old child on his first glamping trip.
Immediately when we arrived for our 2 night trip, and my wife saw the inside of the dream dome, she said “maybe we will stay for an extra night”.
I felt the same, it was beautiful and very well curated.
After reading the welcome card I found out the dome was created to help promote dreaming; after staying for two nights, I can say, my wife and I did dream vividly both nights~
The provided entertainment items such as tarot cards and board games were a fun nighttime activity
We did bring our own grill but there was provided grill in a pit for cooking that looked like a nice set up. Ample chairs and a table also sat outside the dome. The provided power and water for bathing and filtered for drinking was a nice amenity.
The beach access is just fine, just coordinate with the host and make your way past a guest house to access it, this is a multi use property so don’t expect to be completely alone, but it is much much more secluded and serine than a camp ground
The host was incredibly responsive and warm, quick and efficient to remedy anything I needed help with, though everything was already thoughtfully provided and ready for my use when I forgot an item.
The whole time we stayed we spoke of looking forward to coming back over the years and watching the grounds evolve as our son grows. Very cool place for rest, rejuvenation, and recharging. We will be back!

It was just what I needed on my roadtrip! The only thing I would suggest for others is to put I the location exactly into Google maps or waze even. The coordinates tried taking to a different house, it's tricky if youre driving at night. Besides that it's a great deal!
