Fires may be allowed AT THE BEACH, below the high tide line, between October 1 and June 15, but there are various reasons they may not be allowed (air quality bans, windy conditions, etc.)Any fire you light must be put out COLD (no steam, no heat) with water and buried with sand before leaving them unattended. You are responsible for any damage or injuries caused by a fire you start, so please be careful! Please note: It is very important that the number of people on site is accurate. Please contact Hipcamp to change the number of people. There is an additional charge per person above the base 2 person rate. There is no outdoor music at any time. Quiet hours are 8 pm to 10 am. There is no picnic table or any amenities, but you can fill up water at our barn if needed. DO NOT USE THE WOODS AS A BATHROOM. It is necessary to bring your own latrine. The water at (shallower) Dockton Park (about a 6 min drive away) gets warm from swimming in summer if you prefer it to 54 degree deep water here! Please clean up after your pet. Welding is not noisy but, grinding and cutting can be. I limit it to 9-8pm, but can easily shift to other quiet tasks if you ask. * This is a safe neighborhood, but still an in-city experience, so be sure to secure you valuables.

A 1 acre scenic property, embraced by nature, campers have access to 55 feet of serene lake shoreline, a private secluded beach and Dock. The campsites are conveniently located near the front of my property for quick access coming and going. Fish and swim from the dock, or use the rowboat to fish anywhere else on this peaceful lake. No motorboats are allowed. Give the paddle boards a try if you’re looking to try something new. Glide over the lake with ease, in the single or tandem kayak. Registered Hipcampers and their guests pay NO RENTAL FEES for using the watercraft’s. Conveniently located between Seattle and Tacoma, with Freeway Access, Restaurants, Shopping Malls, Movie Theaters, Puget Sound Waterfront Parks and Hiking Trails, All with in a Couple of miles. A path embraced by a rock wall and flowering gardens leads to an archway made of sticks that opens to the expansive open space of the back yard, Keep to the left side of the huge lawn until you see the opening to a short trail marked with a green light post. Follow the short trail to my private dock and secluded beach. Many water birds and other birds call this home. You may spot a great blue heron or crane as they stretch their wings for several minutes soaking up the sun. Keep an eye open for the bald eagles that have a nest in a tree at the shore. Osprey and Bald Eagles are often seen soaring above, before diving into the lake to catch a fish. The lake is stocked every May. The fishing is good here and the lake has a reputation for being especially great for Large Mouth Bass fishing. If you love to fish, then bring your fishing gear and pole. End your fun day with a relaxing bon fire on the beach or at your campsite Motorboats aren’t permitted on this lake, so it’s always serene and peaceful. No lifeguards on duty here. Swim at your own risk. Guests must abide by the lake safety rules. Enjoy a park like setting being surrounded by nature with the convenience of many nearby amenities. Spectacular sunsets, and no crowds. A nice getaway.

This does mean you'll often hear music from events on weekend evenings, and plane traffic does fly overhead. Vashon is quiet and full of nature, but you're not out in the middle of nowhere! The separate, but luxurious, bath house has a full sized shower, sink, and fully plumbed flushing toilet. There is even a small stacked washer and dryer available. Laundry soap available for purchase. Name brand (no dollar store stuff here) shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. A cozy heater keeps the tiny house warm on cool days, but there is no air conditioning. The shady woods stay nice and cool, and there are lots of screened windows to let in the breeze. The sleeping loft also has two screened windows and a fan if the nights are warm. Absolutely lovely little cabin with amazing access to the lake! It was so cozy and had so many great accessories and additions to make our time enjoyable. We especially loved the puzzles, board games and DVDs! The cooking applicances and kitchenware made it so we didn't have to pack anything of our own, we just bought food at the Safeway 10 minutes away. Our dog absolutely loved jumping off the dock right into the lake with us, and we took her to various dog friendly parks in the area in the day time. Would highly recommend for couples of any age

This was a solo-adventure for myself and it was perfect. Megan is so lovely and responsive. The yurt has a luxurious bed with tables in all the right spots. As detailed, there is no electricity. There are 2 lamps, that were enough for me, but if you need lots of light bring some pre-charged or battery powered lights and a flashlight to light your way to the compost toilet (it’s great!). The yurt is situated close to everything on the island, yet sits so far away from the road that it allows for the calm and quiet with amazing star gazing. Although it had been a warm day, the cross breeze through the screens made it cool by evening. The property is beautiful and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see the deer family that prefer Megan’s space to all others on the island.

Allison and Brian are creating an oasis with a lot of attention to details. It is a beautiful property that is close to many activities in the area. We attended an event in Tacoma for a day and it was an easy trip. Communication was easy and quick. We recommend staying at least a few days. Besides lots of things to do close by, staying at the campsite was so relaxing! You do not want to miss out on the beautiful sauna, the comfortable lounge area or taking a stroll in their small, but magical forest. We highly recommend staying with Allison and Brian!

Lisa was amazing. My daughter and I and our dog had such a fun time. Everything was perfect, and Lisa and her horses are terrific hostesses/hosts. Would definitely stay here again and absolutely recommend it if you’re planning to stay on Vashon Island and want a fabulous destination with epic views to stay and relax. You cannot beat this place and words cannot even do it justice. Highly recommend staying here

We really enjoyed this campsite. As is mentioned in the description, it is a little bit of a walk to the site itself, but there was a wagon to pull our stuff in which was so helpful. Our kids loved having some space to run around and explore. Overall it was a lovely place to stay.

We spent the weekend here and it was everything we hoped for. For our 4-year-old: nightly campfires with s’mores, all-day hammock time, and trails that were just adventurous enough for little legs. For the parents: we set up our tent and were blown away by the romantic light vibe. With campfires so peaceful and beautiful. The host is amazing—instructions were clear, communication was easygoing. About

Saltwater State Park is located midway between the cities of Tacoma and Seattle, and is a splendid escape from urban living. The park showcases a combination of forested trails and 1,445 feet of stunning saltwater shoreline along the Puget Sound. Curious cats can explore the tide pools for marine life, or check out McSorley Creek, where salmon spawn seasonally. There is also an underwater artificial reef here, so bring your diving gear and explore the diverse sea life of the Puget Sound. You might even spot a shark or whale! Prefer to stay dry? Chill out on the driftwood and just take in the scenery. Sounds like time well-spent to us!

When to go

The best time to visit Saltwater State Park is during the summer months when the weather is warm and the park's full splendor can be enjoyed from 8am to dusk. Winter visits offer a stark, quiet beauty, but be mindful of shorter days and the occasional park alerts for closures or burn bans.

Know before you go

Check for burn bans and part closures before your visit to ensure a smooth experience.
Remember to bring a Discover Pass for park access; annual passes are $30 and one-day passes are $10.
Leashed dogs are welcome, but horses are not permitted within the park.
Alcohol consumption is restricted to registered campers of legal age at their campsites only.
For fishing and shellfish harvesting, a recreational license is required, available through the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
