This was my first Hipcamp experience... and it's all thanks to what I am now referring to as my "Crash Out Intervention." You see it all began about 15 months ago when my daughters became part of the Dead Dad's Club (IYKYK.. Grey's Anatomy). My mom of 4 children brain went from having the usual 52 tabs open at all times, to 148. AT ALL TIMES. It's been a slow decent into a deep dark somewhere that I have done a fairly decent job keeping to myself, or so I thought. Until last week when one of my most loved teenage womb nuggets giggled and said "oh no, mom's crashing out again!" probably over the dishes not being done again.
AND I DID. I lost my ever loving emotional shit. I packed a bag. Made sure the kids and house were safe and had what they needed. And I drove out of this goddamn town where everyone thinks they know everyone's business with no plan, no tent, no food. I remembered something about Lake Crescent having beautiful water, and ended up driving 6 hours, downloading this app to choose a random spot, stopping at Walmart to purchase a tent, some snacks and a blanket. And it was the BEST decision I have ever fucking made. And now, I'm on a mission to go on as many "Crash Out Intervention" trips as possible because I think I finally found some sanity at Wandering Joy.
THE TOILET - The cleanest, most immaculate port-a-potty my cheeks have EVER graced. 12/10 stars for the throne alone.
