Located 20 minutes west of downtown Port Angeles, directly across US-101 from Lake Sutherland, and 10 minutes from Lake Crescent Beach, it's the perfect homebase for your peninsula adventures! The campground is on 33 acres of private forestland, surrounded on three sides by DNR land. The entire property is heavily forested and was partially harvested around 1990. Dominated by young stands of Alder and mixed conifer species, you'll enjoy a vibrant habitat for wildlife, especially birds. As you gain in elevation on the old timber roads (walking only) you'll discover moss-covered glacial erratic boulders, aged big leaf maple, towering grand fir, and western red cedar. We are committed to maintaining the health and wellness of this magical forest and ask that you pack out all trash, exercise extreme caution with campfires, be a respectful neighbor to fellow campers, and leave only good vibes behind! PLEASE NOTE: * We are primarily a tenting campground. Not all sites are suitable for car-camping/campervans as the parking may not be level and/or large enough for your rig. Please send us a message PRIOR to booking and we’d be happy to recommend any available sites that may fit your need. *All of our sites have their own shape, size, and characteristics, no two are alike! Please refer to the site descriptions and pictures to assist you in choosing a site for your adventure. If in doubt, just send a message and we’ll help steer you in the right direction. Your experience is important to us! *We are a small, private campground. As such, our site limits are set to 2 ppl, 1 vehicle, 1 tent. You can select to add up to 2 more ppl per site, for an additional charge. Our sites are simply not large enough to be considered group sites. For your comfort, we recommended that you book multiple sites if you have a larger party. As always, we can help you choose the best site for your party, so don’t hesitate to reach out! * New Sites have been added since the close of the 2022 season! Sites 0-4 are located on the original lower loop and Sites 5-11 are located on the new upper loop.

Very nice location if you’re looking to hike some of the local trails. The campground was in good condition and will definitely visit again.

Site was as advertised, and communication and directions were great. Porta Potty was extremely clean and the layout out of the campsites made everything easy to find with good signage. Nice and dark at night and the pavilion was an added bonus.

Camping near Olympic National Park

Site 6 was pretty spacious. It felt like we’re in the forest with all the tall trees surrounding the camp site. Portable bathrooms were accessible and very clean. Would definitely come back again!

Site 1 - Wandering Joy Campground

Campsite #1 Location Location!

Spacious camp site with good privacy between sites. Portable toilets close & even smelled good. Nice to have a store within walking distance to supplement supplies. Great location to Crescent Lake. We hiked the Spruce Railroad trail and then set up our portable pop up screened gazebo on the shore of Lake Crescent at the East Beach picnic area and spent the day kayaking, swimming & fishing. Together with our chocolate lab we rate this site a 10!

This place was extremely well maintained. We needed a last minute place to stay it was so easy to book online. It was quiet and beautiful, I will definitely be staying here again!!!

Site 0 - Wandering Joy Campground

We had a lovely 2 night stay at wandering joy! The covered area for our tent was perfect and kept us dry when it rained a bit overnight. Our site was spacious but felt private and far enough away from other campers. The toilets were also super clean. Would definitely love to come back!
