Manchester State Park features a beach, sand dunes, and flat grasslands, with nearly 18,000 feet of ocean frontage. The beach line curves gently to form a "catch basin" for sea debris, which accounts for the volume of driftwood found here. Five miles of gentle, sandy beach stretches southward towards the Point Arena Lighthouse.
One of the main attractions is the excellent steelhead fishing in the park’s two streams, Brush Creek and Alder Creek. The park features a variety of coastal wildflowers, including sea pinks, poppies, lupines, baby blue eyes and blue irises. The park provides habitat for tundra swans. The San Andreas Fault runs into the sea at the park.

This is my first experience booking through Hipcamp and I had a great experience! Shawn's campground only has 4 sites, which made it feel spacious and not crowded. You can tell that Shawn has put a lot of thought, effort, and care into taking care of the grounds. We stayed at Campsite #4 which was super private and had river views. The only downside is that you have to trek your belongings down maybe 3-5 minutes down a path (with a provided wagon). It really wasn't that much effort. It is also a smaller campsite compared to the others. If you are the type of person who is sensitive to the sound of running water, I also would not choose #4 (thinking of you night time pee people). The composting toilets were clean and not stinky at all. Just remember to not throw away toilet paper into it! I like how each campsite had covered picnic table (very useful for PNW unpredictable weather) and a hammock. The communal river area was super nice - we just hung out there with our chairs and took a dip into the cold (but could be colder) river. Our friends brought their dogs and they had a blast. If you have a reactive dog, I would just give Shawn a heads up because she does like to greet her campers and brings her super cute dog with her. We were pleasantly surprised by the migration of salmon upstream and got to see them do their thing. We had such a great time and hope to be back soon!

Favorite Hipcamp in Washington!
Kristen and Tim have built a little slice of paradise and we loved returning for another stay. The space is peaceful as well as beautiful. We were lucky enough to try out their brand new Rv space this time and the ferns and birch trees provided us the feeling of forest serenity. The newly added bathhouse with shower is everything you could ask for after a long day of exploration. Laundry is also easily available for a small fee which beats the drive to a laundromat any day. The hosts are knowledgeable about the area with a ton of recs. Incredibly friendly and responsive when needed but allow you plenty of privacy during your stay. We will absolutely return anytime we are passing through this area!

Will’s spot is absolutely incredible! We just had the most relaxing weekend here. The deck snd views are phenomenal, so peaceful watching Eagles soar. We ventured out to Dosewallips River and also the Rocky Creek Falls and they are spectacular. The site is extremely private, well kept with all the amenities! Will is a great communicator.

Great communication and easy to find. We stayed at site 2 with easy access to the meadow, which was really beautiful and peaceful, being able to chill in the meadow and play ball with the dog. Not completely private from site 1 but lots of space between the two sites that made them feel separate enough. The river access was good and easy, too.
