A Taste of Whidbey

Such a fun property for kids! My kids loved being either goats, the barn cat, and Mr Turtle! Geoduck Flats was a nice flat property easy to unpack and pack as you’re close to the quiet road. Make sure to watch the orientation video so that you can let your kids know what the rules of the property are. It’s a great spot!

Incredible !! 10/10 we loved the goats/peacocks and hammock, incredible hospitality. We stayed overnight from Canada to go to the renfaire. I’ll definitely be coming back next year, the hosts were very friendly and available :)

A gamble if you don't want to party

TLDR, you better hope you get lucky that the host isn't planning some sort of party when you book (unless that's the type of camping you like). Overall I understand why the reviews are mostly positive, it's a very pretty property with a lot of amenities. But I guess I just don't think of really loud bad karaoke as the kind of vibe I'm looking for when I go camping. To top it off, it doesn't help that we were less than 30 yards from the speakers, so we had to be a part of it, whether we wanted to or not. After many hours of enduring, we finally went to the host, and she promised to be done by 10p. We promptly packed up and left in the morning cause it just wasn't worth the gamble to endure a second night of that.

Cute, but not as expected

This property was very cute with lots of potential. It was a place to pitch our tent, and for that I am grateful! -toilet: There is one porta-potty, not a bathroom. If you plan to wash your face or need a sink, plan to use the open and popular kitchen sink area. -shower: There is a shower, but it is downhill from the kitchen area and your top could be visible to other people, height dependent. -karaoke: When we arrived, the host had a group over for karaoke. It was very loud and very passionate. We also smelled weed. We were approached multiple times by drunk karaoke guests asking us questions about Hip Camp and peering into our car. It was a lot after a long day of traveling. -campsite: our site was slanted and we kept sliding. J Pod Nod is probably suitable for a 1 person tent. -grounds: there is no signage on the property to direct you to your site. There was a farmhand who was very helpful and got us to our spot. If you arrive after dark or there isn't an employee on site when you arrive, it could be next to impossible to find your site. Overall, this was a super cute property. Lots of cute paths and sitting areas. Amenities were not what I expected. If it weren't for the karaoke, we would have had a neutral experience. The karaoke really made it a negative for us and I would not recommend to a friend.

Our trip to Taste of Whidbey was whimsical, magical, and oh so special in every way. From the outdoor kitchen where everything we needed was already there, to the friendly animals who greeted us daily, to the views of the water and the peaceful evenings that led to a great night's sleep - this place has it all! We could not have asked for a better family camping experience!

Enjoyed our stay here at this eclectic hipcamp! The kitchen area was very helpful and convenient. The bathroom was very clean as well. Some of the camp sites were a little hard to find or discern but Deb was very responsive to questions!

A magical oasis for adults and kiddos alike! So many fun spots to explore, animals to feed, amenities at the ready. Our kids ran around the entire time with other kiddos they met at the property. Also super conveniently located so a quick trip to Clinton takes only 10ish minutes. The one drawback is the noise at night — particularly the peacock. He was loud until about 10pm and started up again in the very early hours (though with less gusto). We mostly slept through it, but worth noting if you have sensitive sleepers! All in all, though, it was an incredible island getaway. We’ll def be back!

Wow what an amazing experience staying on Debi’s site was! The land is beautiful and she is such a kind and gracious host and really went above and beyond to make everyone’s experience something special. The cabana is well stocked, there is so much space to lounge and enjoy the birds and sounds of nature. The animals are also so fun to have around. Would highly recommend staying here. I will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed my few days. The property is beautiful and my dog loved every minute of it. I loved being able to explore the property and meet all the animals. Debi was quick to respond and made my entire trip easier. I’m leaving Washington, but am very sad that I didn’t find this spot earlier. I will definitely be back during the warmer months and can’t wait for my next adventure at this beautiful property.

Taste of Whidbey was an absolute delight. The entire site was so beautiful and thoughtfully curated, from the delicious vegetable garden to the cute animals to watch and interact with to the whimsical details throughout the property. The on-site amenities and proximity to the city made it a really easy way to have a relaxing experience out in nature with my kids.

Overall the campgrounds are well kept and we enjoyed the invitation to stroll the grounds and see animals and interesting features like a pond. The host was friendly and took the children to visit animals. The cabana was well appointed and it was very handy for cooking while the burn ban was active. There’s a lot to recommend about this site but the outhouse situation was one of the worst I have encountered. It really needed service as it was very full, smelled terribly (not uncommon for outhouses granted but can be mitigated with more frequent service), there was trash on the floor and a number of spiderwebs. And small, barely room to turn around in, making it a tough combination and the reason I would not unconditionally recommend this site going forward.

Great camp for Whidbey exploring!

A wonderful and quirky forest/farm/campground, with an astounding shared kitchen space and generous host. I arrived on a hot day, having reserved the J-pod site, and Debi graciously allowed me to move to a shaded spot instead (I don't know the name of the spot, the furthest South on the property).
