There are also 2 tent sites available on the property, located in one large area, further away from the RV sites. Barely 7 minutes away is downtown Gualala, with amenities such as 2 supermarkets, pharmacy, bakery, restaurants and more. There is a beautiful holistic gift store, The Sea Trader, Four Eyed Frog Bookstore, and some lovely art galleries in town.   Kayaking is available at the Gualala River. Hiking at Gualala Regional Park, the Bluff Trail, The Sea Ranch public access beaches, Stump Beach, Salt Point Park with a petrified forest, Bowling Ball Beach with its amazing natural formations (can only be seen fully at low tide of more than -0.2m), Manchester State Beach, Elk Beach, and more. Swimming at the Navarro River, and various bays. It is a place of incredible scenic beauty all along CA 1. Watch whales spouting during whale season. (Gray whales and orcas is December to May. For humpbacks, visit May through November, and for blue whales, the largest animal on Earth, plan your stay between July and October). Bower Park, just 0.5 miles away with a lovely lake, tennis courts, a baseball field, a basketball court, and two separate playgrounds. Play disc golf or hike along the nature trail/fitness course. Anchor Bay is 5 miles up CA 1, with a supermarket, a few cafes, restaurants (including a great Thai place!) laundromat, hair salon, and more. The quaint town of Point Arena is 12 miles north, with a supermarket, Frannie's Cup And Saucer, The Bird Cafe, a beautiful historic lighthouse, a theater, a pier, a mini-safari park (B Bryan Preserve with zebras, giraffes and more. Tours need to be booked in advance). Also visit Roots, a natural pharmacy for herbs, teas and supplements.  There are also spots like Occidental, Bodega Bay, Jenner (with the Russian River to kayak and swim) and Timber Cove, all on the way to Gualala from the south. Bodega Bay has lovely spots to eat, with clam chowder, fish and chips. Enjoy wind and water sports, and walk on the pier.

This is a shared campground with 3 separate spots that are relatively private. Host will NOT be there when you arrive unless prior arrangement made. This campground is yours to enjoy. The expectation is 'leave it better than before so the next guests may enjoy! This is camping. BRING YOUR OWN GEAR. Put your own linens and bedding on top of what is already on bed. I can provide linens and bedding for an extra $25 for glamping spots. Beds have pillows on them. There is wildlife. This includes bears and mountain lions in the area. You will not see either but good to be aware they exist. This is a safe 'neighborhood'. We do not have problems with thievery. However, always keep your valuables safe IN YOUR CAR. There is no Power. No WiFi. Cell phone coverage not guaranteed. Depends on your carrier. DOWNLOAD DIRECTIONS AND INFO BEFORE ARRIVING TO SITE. There is Poison Oak. Stay in the designated areas. If you are susceptible, bring and wash with Tecnu. Or use dish soap and wash. Poison oak is an oil. Most importantly: Don't Touch. No Fires allowed during Summer months. Be super careful. No candles. Smoke in fire pit area. Grass is a tinderbox. 1 spark can ignite all. There is a hose connected to kitchen. There is a Pet Fee stay. 1 pet per site allowed unless prior arrangement made. You are responsible to clean up after your pet and to make sure pet is safe and respectful to neighbors. This means you DO NOT leave your pet unattended, and is leashed at all times. If your pet is barking continuously, we ask that you leave. It is not respectful for all other neighbors. Please bring your own bed for your dogs and clean up after a shedding dog if you are indoors. We ask that guests clean up your camping spot upon departure to 'make the place better than before' for the next guests. Butterfly Landing is a sweet landing spot! Birds, butterflies and small wildlife love this spot. The habitat includes many native species of plant life. A pretty knoll that is on the top of a 40 acre property. Views of vineyards, redwood trees, valley floor, and expansive sky. Private, Quiet and beautiful. A central sunny meadow ties together 3 distinct private areas with a communal kitchen, bath-house, picnic-table sitting area and parking on the side. There is 1 outhouse that has a mailbox system to ensure privacy. (Please read manual on picnic table for instructions) Kitchen. 2 burner propane stove, and sink with running water (cold). (Good for drinking. Pressure is low) There is basic cooking and dishware. Cleaning supplies. A Trash and Recycle Bin. And a Compost bucket where all food scraps should be disposed of and then covered with wood-chips. Kitchen should stay clean at all times. Please put dishes away in the tote to keep clean and critter free. Bath-house. Shower with hot water. 1 shared Outhouse. Please use the path that goes to the outhouse (unless you are in the Greenroom) and make sure you put the mailbox red flag up so that others know it is occupied. ((Then don't forget to put it back down!!) Common sitting area. There are 2 picnic tables, Lots of umbrellas that can be moved wherever, a fire pit/table and lots of seating. Parking. There are room for 3 vehicles. Parking is to be in designated parking area please. Sunny meadow and forest shade make this a lovely landing spot to relax and enjoy nature, and a great opportunity to turn off those cell phones!! Butterfly Landing is about 1/2 mile from HWY 128 that runs through Anderson Valley. This location is the perfect location for it all. Wine tasting in the Valley, Navarro River swimming during the summer months, and the Mendocino coast is nearby. This is an Honor system camping spot. We ask that you leave your spot 'better than before', as in 'Leaver no Trace'. I rely on everyone to do their part in the communal kitchen to keep clean and free of critters. SUPER IMPORTANT to put all food scraps in the compost bin. NO food anything in the trash. This is how the bears show up. Please do your part. Thank you so much. A Bit About Us and The Deck Site: Albion and the surrounding areas are the original home of the Pomo peoples Northern California and we honor their stewardship of this land for millennia before us. This property sits just above the Salmon Creek watershed which is home to coho salmon and steelhead, northern spotted owls, bears, dear, mountain lions, pileated woodpeckers, along with thousands of other species big and small, and so we feel it is our duty to uphold that stewardship of this land for future generations. We were both born and raised on the Mendocino Coast, and are now raising our two young children here. We have been developing and preserving the natural beauty of our coastal Redwood property here in Albion for the past 13 years. One of the first things we built on this property was a 2,000 sq ft deck that cantilevers over the hillside with a view of the Redwood ridges and Eastern sunrises beyond, all with wood milled from the property. Our vision for this deck was to host our family and friends and bring people together in this gorgeous outdoor setting. We have had many a birthday party, movie nights, baby showers, as well as a couple weddings and yoga retreats at this site, and now you can too! We can't wait to share the beauty and tranquility of this campsite with you! What We Offer: Camp next to, and make use of, our large Redwood deck with sweeping ridge top views. The base rate for this site includes up to four people, there is an extra charge of $25 per day, per person, for any extra people. We allow up to 16 campers total but if you're looking to have more please message us and we can talk details. Campers can set up tents just off the deck, OR for an extra fee (see Extras), you can rent our new addition of The Cozy Container, for the people that want to be in nature but don't quite want the fuss of pitching a tent. This sleeping container, not to be confused with the shipping container connected to the deck that houses the bathroom and kitchenette, houses a full size bed as well as a fold out futon and sleep 3-4 people comfortably. When booking the Cozy Container we will make up the full size bed with pillows, sheets and down comforter, however if you would like to also use the futon, we ask that you bring your own bedding for that. NOTE: We have two converted shipping containers at the site. The Cozy Container for sleeping in is away from The Deck slightly and to the left. The container attached to The Deck to the right, houses the kitchenette, bathroom, and shower around back. The use of this container is included in the basic site fee. We also allow trailers and small RVs, we just ask that during the wet Winter months, you park in our gravel parking spaces. Connected to The Deck we have another 30 ft shipping container converted into a kitchenette and bathroom with toilet and running water. Behind that you'll find an enclosed shower with hot and cold water. We also have a grill, propane heater, cooler and a cornhole set available to rent (see Extras). There is plenty of space to set up multiple tents so this is the perfect spot to wrangle all those friends or family you’ve been missing and enjoy some quality time together in nature. The Area: The village of Albion has a well equipped grocery store and deli, as well as a hardware store and post office. There IS gas if you are in a pinch, but we recommend filling up long before you get to the coast, or making the drive up to Fort Bragg for gas. You will also find EV charging stations in Fort Bragg at the Boatyard Shopping center. Drive just 20 minutes North to the village of Mendocino where you'll find plenty of shops and restaurants as well as access to hiking, biking, kayaking, surfing and bird and whale watching. Please don't hesitate to ask us for recommendations for all things to eat, see and do while you're here. We love to share the beauty of the area with our guests! Dogs: We live on the property as a family of four with two young children and two friendly dogs. Our dogs Olive and Blue may greet you when you arrive, and might bark at your car, but rest assured they are friendly and when you get out of your car, call their names and they should come begging for pets. If you're not into dogs, that's totally fine. You can always text us and we will do our best to keep them home. Tenants/Neighbors: We do have one tenant on the property whose rental shares a road with The Deck site so you may see them coming and going, but there is no line of site from their rental to The Deck site. However, being that they are somewhat close we ask that campers be mindful of noise in the evenings and we ask that all amplified music be turned off between the hours of 10pm-7am. Should you have any questions or need any help during your stay, we are just a short walk away and happy to help. We love sharing the beauty of our land and all that the Mendocino Coast has to offer so don't hesitate to ask for our recommendations on all things Mendocino! Trash and Clean Up Expectations: We provide dish ware, glasses, utensils and some other odds and ends, in hopes that our guests will use less single use plastics and cut down on waste. However, we know there is always some level of trash that comes along with camping therefore, we provide trash bags and labeled trash and recycling bins, but we ask that our guests bring their trash with them when they leave. *If for some reason this is not possible, we can remove the trash for you for a fee of $15/bag, but you must message us prior to your departure and let us know that your are unable to take the trash with you. Otherwise we provide the operating hours of the solid waste disposal site (located just down the road) in our guest book in the kitchen container. Meadow Car Camp: Park a car or bring your van, RV, camper, or trailer to this serene spot in the open sunny meadow next to the redwoods. RV’s and campers must be self-sufficient. No hookups available and no generators allowed. Redwood Walk-In Tent Sites: Pitch your tent in the serenity of the towering redwoods looking out onto the sunny peaceful meadow. Redwood camp is situated in a grove of redwoods containing multiple tent sites. These are walk-in sites with easy unloading, no more than 50 feet from your car. Tent campers must park in the parking area between the sign board and porta-potty. There is a communal area for all campers with a water spigot, picnic table/bear box, and porta-potty near our info signboard and parking area. Be advised that this is a working farm and there is an echo in the valley. While it is peacefully quiet most of the time, you may hear some daytime farm activity. We also have a guard dog who moves around with our flock of sheep and goats who barks regularly after dark and when she perceives a potential predator. **There is no cell service on or within 15 minutes of our property. Wifi and a landline phone are available to campers in case of emergencies. **Pets must be kept on a leash at all times! For the safety of everyone including your pets, our dogs, and the various livestock on the farm, we can't allow any pets off leash.

As good as it gets. The cabin had everything we needed and is extremely private. The land itself is beautiful and the surrounding area is worth exploring. We met up with friends and bopped around — Greenwood Creek State Beach in Elk, Mendocino, Jumbos in Philo, Point Arena Pizza for some big floppy slices.

1 night at Raven's Nest

On my pilgrimage up the coast from New Mexico, I ended up at the Point Arena lighthouse. It was cloudy that evening and getting dark and I knew at that moment I should just camp and get some good rest before I head to the Redwoods. I reached out to William at Ravens Nest and told him my situation and he immediately responded. He gave very clear directions which I appreciated the extra clarity. William made sure that if I needed anything that I could let him know. Ravens nest was peaceful and I felt very safe and held by the forest. The site was clean and gave me a sanctuary to rest so I could get back on the road the next morning rejuvenated. As I had randomly stumbled upon Point Arena and wasn’t familiar I was guided by William to check out the harbor and get coffee at Cove Coffee. And after a nice walk on the harbor, a conversation with a local while watching people hit the waves before they start their day, I ended up at Frannys Cup n Saucer—I’m speechless Wow, so glad the lighthouse sent me to the Ravens Nest. Thanks for your hospitality William! Will return and send others!

Weekend Trip to The Deck

We had a great time camping at The Deck. Alex and Justine were quick to reply to all my questions. Getting to the campsite was very easy and the directions spot on. The site it self was wonderful and had an amazing view, perfect for our class C motorhome. We loved the outdoor kitchen in the container and all the little touches. It was quite and peaceful. We hope to be back again soon.

Pros - Picnic table at the site - Hose sink at the site - Large burnt out redwood tree you can walk into at the site - Secluded - BBQ Pit converted to firepit with grate and lid - Wood for sale on-site - Accommodating hosts - Saw salamanders and banana slugs Cons - Outhouse toilet seat is a little far from the edge (took some getting used to) - Neighbors were occasionally felling trees during the day while I was there but, overall, not too bothersome

A dreamy cabin for adventurous folks looking for privacy and immersion in nature. We had such a relaxing and inspiring stay here. I loved all the interesting antiques and artifacts throughout the property, the incredible view of the ridge, and sitting outside watching mist float through the forest. Walking around the property we found tons of edible mushrooms including chanterelles! Wonderful location for exploring Elk, Mendocino, and surroundings. Bon is a very gracious and kind host.

Beautiful spot! The site was large, secluded, clean and has a wonderful open area for star gazing. We will definitely come back! It’s in the forest but the coast is just about 5 min drive away with fantastic hiking trails along the shoreline. Lots of whale sightings.

I loved staying in the Mushroom cabin with my wife. It is tucked in the forest and is very peaceful. The communal kitchen and bathroom have all the listed amenities and are very accessible. It is just gorgeous! Both the charming studio and the beautiful location. Janice is so lovely, and put out a grill and stove when I said I was hoping to cook outside. There are so many little touches in the space: remote-controlled candle lights, bubble bath for the clawfoot tub, extra blankets, etc. Highly recommend!

This is an epic spot near the Mendocino coast. It was both remote and comfortable. We parked a small Sprinter RV onsite for four days in January. Jack rabbits, crows, and a few friendly dogs visited us. The view from the deck, looking out over the tops of tall pine trees, was incredible. It was so quiet that we heard the feathers of birds flying overhead. Communication with our hosts was easy (though there is virtually no cell signal), and Mendocino was a quick drive away. Hope to be back sometime soon!

We had a rainy, windy evening during our stay but the tiny bit mighty cabin kept us safe and warm. The little electric heater provided goes a long way.

We had a lovely stay in the sunshine cabin with our pup during a classic winter downpour. A gorgeous way to start the new year. Cabin was clean, cozy, and warmed so well by electric heater. Communal kitchen was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and convenient with fridge, gas cooktop, and outlet for our rice cooker. Grounds were very lush. Had great fun looking for slugs, snails, and salamanders. Great stay if you want to adventure out or stay in for contemplation. We will be returning. Much gratitude to our hosts.
