Learn more about this land: The winds whisper through the redwood trees and provide respite from the hot sun. Here on the ridge above Gualala, lies nestled a lovely and serene campground called Thanktuary Retreat. Skunks, jackrabbits, deer, foxes and very rarely a mountain lion or bear can be found on our 5 acres of forested land. There is a fishpond with water lilies, mini golf course and pétanque court (both with equipment in a useful shed close by), a horse shoe ring and beautiful, natural secluded spots in the redwoods perfect for meditation and vision questing. Huckleberry bushes and ferns grow abundantly. The place lends itself to self-reflection and introspection. There is space for 1 RV with a patio table and chairs and some sun loungers. There are also 2 tent sites available on the property, located in one large area, further away from the RV sites. Barely 7 minutes away is downtown Gualala, with amenities such as 2 supermarkets, pharmacy, bakery, restaurants and more. There is a beautiful holistic gift store, The Sea Trader, Four Eyed Frog Bookstore, and some lovely art galleries in town.   Kayaking is available at the Gualala River. Hiking at Gualala Regional Park, the Bluff Trail, The Sea Ranch public access beaches, Stump Beach, Salt Point Park with a petrified forest, Bowling Ball Beach with its amazing natural formations (can only be seen fully at low tide of more than -0.2m), Manchester State Beach, Elk Beach, and more. Swimming at the Navarro River, and various bays. It is a place of incredible scenic beauty all along CA 1. Watch whales spouting during whale season. (Gray whales and orcas is December to May. For humpbacks, visit May through November, and for blue whales, the largest animal on Earth, plan your stay between July and October). Bower Park, just 0.5 miles away with a lovely lake, tennis courts, a baseball field, a basketball court, and two separate playgrounds. Play disc golf or hike along the nature trail/fitness course. Anchor Bay is 5 miles up CA 1, with a supermarket, a few cafes, restaurants (including a great Thai place!) laundromat, hair salon, and more. The quaint town of Point Arena is 12 miles north, with a supermarket, Frannie's Cup And Saucer, The Bird Cafe, a beautiful historic lighthouse, a theater, a pier, a mini-safari park (B Bryan Preserve with zebras, giraffes and more. Tours need to be booked in advance). Also visit Roots, a natural pharmacy for herbs, teas and supplements.  There are also spots like Occidental, Bodega Bay, Jenner (with the Russian River to kayak and swim) and Timber Cove, all on the way to Gualala from the south. Bodega Bay has lovely spots to eat, with clam chowder, fish and chips. Enjoy wind and water sports, and walk on the pier.

Time to relax and look at the stars for they are amazing in the country due to less light pollution. We have a pond with a recirculating stream near the main house, outdoor dining areas, a really nice bathhouse with a cedar hot tub, hot showers and toilets. Please bring all you need for cooking and camping.  There is a kitchen sink behind the bath house, for potable water and washing dishes.  Quiet hours are from 10pm- 8 am Hot tub hours: 8am -10pm We have a mini-putting green and pétanque court. There are 5 acres for you to explore with 2 forested trails, one from the bath house to the camp site, and the other from the camp site to the sweat lodge.  No fires are allowed during high fire danger. This is because fire can spread below ground through the root system and a fire can take hold several miles away. Please be aware of this, and be mindful and respectful of the sacred land beneath you.  Mahalo.

Quiet and serene. Privacy and Introspection.  The redwoods whisper through the trees and provide respite from the hot sun.  There is a fishpond, a mini putting green & pétanque court (both with equipment in a useful shed close by), a horse shoe ring and beautiful, natural secluded spots in the redwoods perfect for meditation and vision questing.  There is space for 1 RV with hook-up, with a patio table and chairs and some sun loungers. There is a cedar hot tub with an attached bath house with hot showers for use. Please note that the water is slightly brown from the cedar tannins. It is therapeutic, aromatic and improves sleep, mood and circulation.  There are also 1 large studio (the Queen's Loft) and the Treehouse, available on the property, located in self-contained pockets, further away from the RV site. Barely 7 minutes away is downtown Gualala, with amenities such as 2 supermarkets, pharmacy, bakery, restaurants and more.

Serene Treehouse nestled amidst the redwoods. This is a lovely room about 200 sq ft set up with a queen bed, two nightstands, linens, a desk and chair, armchair and shelf.  There is a mini kitchen with a mini fridge, a microwave and a toaster oven. Please note - no crockery or cutlery. Balcony with 2 deck chairs overlook the meadow.  Bathhouse with hot showers, toilets located about 20-30 yards away next to an 8 person cedar soaking tub. Please note that the water is slightly brown from the cedar tannins. Cedar hot tubs are therapeutic and known to relieve stress, improve circulation, sleep and mood.  Kitchen Sink located behind bathhouse, where you can have potable water and wash your dishes.  There is a lovely pond, recirculating stream, picnic areas, mini putting green, pétanque court and 5 acres to explore. Serene, lovely vibe. Please respect the wildlife and the sacred altars on the property. We have a crystal grid buried beneath the land to hold space for everyone's safety, health and well-being.  There is a short flight of stairs to climb to the second floor level of the cabin.

The Sunrise Dorm is a simple room with 4 comfortable single beds. There is a mini-kitchenette with a kettle, toaster oven and coffee maker. It is located below another unit, The Treehouse which sleeps 1-2. Guests have access to a bath house with 2 showers, 2 toilets and sinks and a cedar hot tub, across the driveway, less than 100 yards away. There is a commercial sink with dish soap behind the bath house. There is no bathroom or sink en suite. The Sunrise Dorm is part of Thanktuary Retreat, a beautiful, serene property on 5 acres, that hosts other units such as the Queen's Loft, a luxurious unit that can sleep 4-6. There is a fish pond, several outdoor picnic tables and chairs, a lovely meadow, a mini golf course that are available for Hip camp guest use.

Great location, easily accesable, clean. Space is good for a 19-22 foot van or small RV, would be tight for a bigger vehicle. Water and electric hookups available, nice clean toilets and showers. Peaceful stay, would stay again when in the area.

The campsite was really lovely, we had a great time visiting. The meadow has nice flat ground to pitch a tent, and a table with some chairs. The bathroom building was clean and had 2 showers and 2 toilet stalls. There's a dish washing station behind the bathroom. Hot tub was fantastic. Veena was a gracious host who was quick to respond.

We enjoyed our stay in Thankuary in Gualala The site is above the wind and fog line, lots of sunshine, Great Thai restaurants in Anchor bay and beach is dog friendly. Farmers market was fun ion Saturday. Hot tub and showers are a pleasant bonus, Treehouse is peaceful and clean , Deck is great for star watching.

I arrived and a woman who did not resemble the hosts photos approached saying hello ?? I greeted her, she was very worried that I was a part of the retreat. I said no, she’s like “thank god!” I then explained who I was and it seemed as though she had not been informed of my arrival but I was thankful to be greeted by someone. Shortly after getting settled the host messaged me wishing a lovely stay. It was a lovely stay. Very comfortable. The cedar tub water was not brown (low tannin content) so no stains happened. Water could’ve been a little warmer for what I know other people usually like but I loved how it wasn’t too hot. Was probably 99/100 degrees F. Indoor and outdoor showers worked great! Walking to the restroom wasn’t too bad, just not the easiest at night. Fridge was unplugged when I got there and I unplugged it when I left. Great amenity just make sure to catch that plug before loading perishables into it. I’m really glad I stopped by to recharge here between sleeping in my tent on this road trip! Thanks guys

Thanktuaty is an incredible spot for a digital detox or a creative reset. It loses one star only for the minor inconsistencies in cell reception and the premium price point, but for the peace of mind it provides, it’s well worth the trip.

The “Thanktuary “was a peaceful place. Our campsite was soft. Had water and a table with umbrella which was helpful due to the rain. We enjoyed walking the grounds, sitting in the hot tub and enjoying the woods.

Great location amongst the trees but only minutes from town. The room, showers and bathrooms were super clean. The outdoor shower and hot tub were so very nice, soaking at night below the stars doesn’t get much better. Everything about this was a 10/10, communication and directions were spot on. Didn’t get to meet Veena and David but highly recommend their place and will definitely stay again when in the area.

My husband and I stayed at the here recently and it was as described. The bathroom/showers were very clean and wonderful after a few days on the road. Our spot for our 19.7 ft van and pups was perfect. Communication was excellent. If we are on the coast again I’d definitely stay here again. It’s a great place to stop and recharge.

We had an amazing time camping here! The host was extremely friendly, very prompt in communication, and provided clear instructions that made everything smooth from the start. The location itself is absolutely beautiful and felt safe throughout our stay. The toilets were spotless, and there was access to clean water, which made things super convenient. Being right next to the Gualala River was a huge plus — it added a peaceful vibe and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. One of the highlights for us was stargazing at night. The sky was unbelievably clear, and it felt magical lying under a blanket of stars. Overall, this place checked all the boxes for us — safe, clean, scenic, and well-managed.
