The property is gorgeous, and Cosmo is an enthusiastic and responsive host. My only critique is that the site is awkwardly shaped and not well set up for a crowd. The onsite potty is just the can concealed behind a bush, so privacy is also an issue depending on how you set up. (We appreciated the bathhouse an easy walk away!)

Camping at Cosmos!

We had such a memorable stay here this past weekend, and a huge part of that was thanks to Cosmo. He went above and beyond in ways we didn’t expect. It was pretty cold while we were there, and he generously opened up his home so we could warm up, cook, and even hang out and play games. That level of hospitality really stood out. He also checked in on us throughout our stay, bringing firewood to our site and even helping us get our first fire going. On top of that, he shared fresh radishes and other plants from his garden, which was such a thoughtful touch. One of the highlights was getting to explore the land with him. We rode around on his ATV, learned more about his vision for the property, and even got to check out some of his other campsites. One had a DJ booth that would be perfect for a group gathering, and another (about a mile from our site) was a large, open area that could easily host bigger events. The site itself also has a shower, though it’s cold water. That said, Cosmo offered access to a bathroom in his home with a hot shower, which made a big difference given the weather. Also worth noting: there’s a large, free-roaming St. Bernard from a neighboring property. We only saw her one night, and she was incredibly gentle. She wandered over, curled up near our fire, and added to the whole experience. Overall, this felt like more than just a campsite. It felt like being welcomed onto someone’s land and taken care of. Sweet camp spot, great host, definitely need a 4x4 or all wheel drive if booking camp spot 3 or 4 but my Altima made it! Great for adult groups 🩵🌱

Rustic cabin in the woods

Stayed at this campsite during a rainy arrival, and honestly—it still left a great impression. The property is spacious with lots of trees, giving you that real “get away from everything” feeling. Even with the rain, the natural setting made it peaceful and relaxing. One of the best perks: free firewood, which made a huge difference for keeping warm and enjoying the evening. Cosmo, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and clearly passionate about improving the place. You can tell there’s ongoing work to beautify and develop the campsite, which is exciting if you plan to come back in the future. Also worth noting: there’s no phone signal here—which might sound inconvenient, but it actually made the experience better. It’s perfect if you’re trying to unplug and fully enjoy nature. A couple of things still in progress: more flush toilets and warm showers would really elevate the experience, and smoother roads would make access easier—especially in wet weather. Overall, this is a great spot with tons of potential. If you enjoy quiet, nature, and don’t mind a few rustic elements, it’s definitely worth checking out. Looking forward to seeing how it grows!

Timeless nature & kindness

Hi absolutely loved Cosmo camp. Cosmo is a warmer fisherman who, along with his cat Daniel, retired from that career to run their 30 acres in Comptche. When I arrived not fully prepared, Cosmo stayed up late to welcome me and then also to start my first fire for the long weekend. I can’t tell you how beautiful the constant “green noise” was for me. Happy to tell you more about the functioning bathroom, the idiosyncrasies of the camp, and how perfectly cold but cozy the cabin was in February. I will certainly be returning to Cosmo’s camp.

The rustic cabin in the woods outside Mendocino was exactly the kind of peaceful getaway I was hoping for. The cabin itself is simple, cozy, and full of character—wood walls, a sturdy little wood burning stove that kept the space warm at night, and big windows with beautiful tree views in every direction. I also appreciated the fresh spring water on site—I was able to fill my camper easily, which was a huge plus. There are scenic views all around the property, and some fun, quirky touches too. Vintage buses, old motorcycles hanging in the trees, and other funky art pieces make wandering the land feel like a little adventure of its own. It’s a place with personality, and you can tell the host has put a lot of heart into it. Speaking of the host—super kind, welcoming, and genuinely happy to share his land. He gave great recommendations and made me feel right at home without being intrusive. If you’re looking for a peaceful, off-the-grid-feeling stay with charm, creativity, and forest magic, this spot is perfect. I’d absolutely stay here again.

The campsites were all full of junk. It literally looked like a junkyard for old boats, cars, trucks, and motorcycles. There was no potable water at the campsite as advertised. Only stayed one night due to the conditions and was out $$ for the second night. The host was nice.

Relaxing getaway with beautiful gro

Great trip. We are a repeat camper. Beautiful trees and drive out there. Cosmo even built a flush toilet and shower this time. Potable Water available and each site has water for washing. You can tell he really cares about the ground. Very nice host. Beautiful land. Relaxing. Recommend 👍💕. Great host. Helpful and nice!

This is a review for one of Cosmo’s “walk in sites” Fair warning: If you’re not at least 420 tolerant this isn’t the place for you. If you’re 420 friendly you’ll be in HEAVEN. Cosmo is very welcoming. Pros: Was expecting to walk in 5 min to my site but was able to Drive in almost all the way so that wasn’t an issue. Easy access to potable water and a restroom. I visited the large group space in the valley which was huge and really nice!! Maybe 70 people were staying at that site and it was cool to see a space that can easily accommodate that number of people Cosmo’s Land is beautiful. Check out Montgomery Woods State Reserve which is 20 min away - nice hour long walk through a beautiful little redwood grove Cons: Ground was uneven on my site - I’m sensitive to that when sleeping but if you’re not it won’t be a problem. There were Mosquitos at the site I stayed at

Cosmo, the host, was incredibly kind and generous and made himself available for anything we might need. The site itself was very spacious and had beautiful views. After our first night, however, we discovered there is zero shade at the site from about 9:30/10am to early evening. We were so uncomfortably hot we couldn’t make breakfast there or hang out at the site during the day. By dusk we were tormented by hoards of mosquitos (which might be coming from the standing water down the hill). Finally, the main toilet down the hill kept backing up and was pretty much unuseable, so I ended up doing my business in the woods. The pit toilet at the campsite is not for the faint of heart. So we packed up early the next day and headed home.

Cosmo was an excellent host. He suggested we move to another site on his property based on a request we had and it worked out well. He was also very friendly and even gave us an offering. Loved everything about the stay and would recommend again. Long live Kramer!

Private camping with great views

Bottom land group campsite #4

My wife and I, along with our dog really enjoyed tent camping at Cosmos’s site #3. No other guests were staying at the property and it felt extremely private. The hosts made us feel welcomed, showed us around their vegetable garden, and even gave us some fresh produce. Views from the site were pretty good, I would highly recommend.

We had an awesome time camping at Cosmos!! Such a beautiful property, and campsite 4 has a flushing toilet, lovely outdoor bathtubs that are constantly filling with fresh spring water, a sink and tap for cleaning up and a really cool pagoda hut! We camped there with a group of 60 and threw a little rave and it all went so perfectly! We’ll be back again soon for sure! Cheers for a great weekend Cosmo!

Glad I found Cosmo's Campground. Cosmo is super welcoming and chill. Both my pup and I had a blast. Got one of the tours and hot damn is Cosmo a wealth of knowledge! Unfortunately I had to leave early but Cosmo made it all super simple! I'll definitely be back!
