Surrounded by cooperate timberland,  it feels like there are no neighbors!  There is not a house in sight but the the ridge views seem to go on forever!  - There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house. - Spare camping supplies are available by the bath house if you forget something! Ask ahead if you need to borrow a specific item. More about the property: I built my home high upon a southern ridge. Watching the river of coastal fog flow in and out below me is one of the most wonderful views to behold! I have 30 acres of land to explore and camp upon in the surrounding redwood forest. 10 miles east are Montgomery Woods redwood preserve with GIANT trees, and a little farther, perhaps a mile is the famous Orr Hot Springs Resort. If you drive a half hour west from my land you will be in the coastal Mendocino village. Guests love staying here "What a fantastic experience. I arrived to Cosmo’s super late after a long day going up the coast. It was a last minute book that morning, if I remember right - my campsite had fallen through. His directions were spot on, and very kindly he stayed up to take me to my site and help me get set up, even going so far as to light me a fire. His property was easily navigable in the dark, and my two wheel drive made it fine. We talked for a while - what a cool guy. He was able to give me recommendations from a friend of what to do during the next legs of my trip, which was great and really did make a difference for the rest of my week. I cooked my dinner and sat stunned looking at some of the best stargazing I’ve had in a long time. When I woke up I realized that I had been sleeping next to a mountainside view - this was site 3. Talk about the best surprise I’ve gotten in a while unzipping a tent. The clouds were gathered in the valley and as I ate breakfast I got to watch the sun slowly clear then out. It was unbelievable. Before I left, Cosmo let me use his indoor solar-heated shower and told me all about his projects to build his own home and roads and move towards a more sustainable future. Overall this is really the best of what I imagine hipcamp has to offer - kind property owners & unique individuals who care about their guests while also allowing them to have their own experience. If I’m ever near Mendocino I will gladly make the trip inland to stay at his property again."

Campsite #3, aka "Sunset Point," has a picnic table, a fire pit, and a great view. It is the most popular site because of its isolation from the main house and incredible views. A vintage trailer is parked at this site. You can check it out if you prefer a roof over your head. Please be aware that it is a bit of a walk up to the bath house for a flush toilet and shower (there is a latrine at the site) and that the walking loop passes right next to campsite #3. - Get directions at the main house or follow the signs if no one is home. - There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house. - Spare camping supplies are available by the bath house if you forget something! Ask ahead if you need to borrow a specific item. The parking space is on a slope, so it's not the best option if you are sleeping in your car. Choose this site for the view and convenience. - Get directions at the main house or follow the signs if no one is home. - There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house - Spare camping supplies are available by the bath house if you forget something! Ask ahead if you need to borrow a specific item. For those of you who would really like to get back to nature, we have available "hike in" camping spots.  You will park your car near the main house and walk to your spot with all your stuff.  It should be a five minute hike or so.  There will be no amenities for you at your hike in spot; you will need to create your own temporary living scene.  We do have various community camping supplies for people to borrow/use however.  Things like camp stoves, chairs, frisbees, and a little assorted cooking gear.  If you would prefer a regular spot where you can drive up to a picnic table, then please book one of our fancier, improved sites from our other listing. - Get directions at the main house or follow the signs if no one is home. - A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. There is a large space at the bottom of the property (aka campsite #4) for big or noisy groups, but it is a trek to the bath house if you want a shower or flush toilet. More low key groups might prefer the area between campsite #2 and the glamping cabin. The cabin could be a great addition to your group site extravaganza if that is desirable (see the cabin listing for details). - Get directions at the main house or follow the signs if no one is home. - There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house. - There are miles of trails to hike or to ride dirt bikes/mountain bikes on. There is a marked walkable loop around the property that will take about 1 hr 30 min. - Spare camping supplies are available by the bath house if you forget something! The glamping cabin is a cozy one room cabin with furniture, a wood stove, a loft, and redwood deck. There is a queen size mattress on the main level and a twin in the loft. Throw down your sleeping bags or request fresh linens as an "extra" add-on. Sorry, no pets are allowed in the cabin.   The cabin is located in the vicinity of campsite 2. Sometimes people like to rent both for added privacy and space.  Since its difficult to find help cleaning out here, I have decided to install a "leave it like you found it" rule.  Please try and leave it as you found it...or better!   - Get directions at the main house or follow the signs if no one is home. - A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. Cosmo has a beautiful space and home-and a beautiful spirit to match. He upgraded me to a cabin-which was cozy and clean-and offered me firewood for the stove. Come, if you like incredible views and country peace-don’t, if you require a hairdryer, mints on your pillow and cell service. thank you Cosmo, The Orange One and Daniel 👋I cant wait to come back

Cosmo was a wonderful host who greeted me and oriented me to the features of the property. He even let me take a warm shower in his place. The site was beautiful with stunning views and trails all around the site to explore the property. It was a beautiful one night stay that I definitely recommend!

Rustic cabin in the woods
The rustic cabin in the woods outside Mendocino was exactly the kind of peaceful getaway I was hoping for. The cabin itself is simple, cozy, and full of character—wood walls, a sturdy little wood burning stove that kept the space warm at night, and big windows with beautiful tree views in every direction. I also appreciated the fresh spring water on site—I was able to fill my camper easily, which was a huge plus. There are scenic views all around the property, and some fun, quirky touches too. Vintage buses, old motorcycles hanging in the trees, and other funky art pieces make wandering the land feel like a little adventure of its own. It’s a place with personality, and you can tell the host has put a lot of heart into it. Speaking of the host—super kind, welcoming, and genuinely happy to share his land. He gave great recommendations and made me feel right at home without being intrusive. If you’re looking for a peaceful, off-the-grid-feeling stay with charm, creativity, and forest magic, this spot is perfect. I’d absolutely stay here again.

The campsites were all full of junk. It literally looked like a junkyard for old boats, cars, trucks, and motorcycles. There was no potable water at the campsite as advertised. Only stayed one night due to the conditions and was out $$ for the second night. The host was nice.

Quirky, eclectic energy abounds. From “Lombard Street” and “the Marina” to the motorcycles in the trees, there are interesting delights all over the property. Best star gazing in years. Host was very accommodating and lent us a few items we forgot.

Great trip. We are a repeat camper. Beautiful trees and drive out there. Cosmo even built a flush toilet and shower this time. Potable Water available and each site has water for washing. You can tell he really cares about the ground. Very nice host. Beautiful land. Relaxing. Recommend 👍💕. Great host. Helpful and nice!

This is a review for one of Cosmo’s “walk in sites” Fair warning: If you’re not at least 420 tolerant this isn’t the place for you. If you’re 420 friendly you’ll be in HEAVEN. Cosmo is very welcoming. Pros: Was expecting to walk in 5 min to my site but was able to Drive in almost all the way so that wasn’t an issue. Easy access to potable water and a restroom. I visited the large group space in the valley which was huge and really nice!! Maybe 70 people were staying at that site and it was cool to see a space that can easily accommodate that number of people Cosmo’s Land is beautiful. Check out Montgomery Woods State Reserve which is 20 min away - nice hour long walk through a beautiful little redwood grove Cons: Ground was uneven on my site - I’m sensitive to that when sleeping but if you’re not it won’t be a problem. There were Mosquitos at the site I stayed at

Cosmo, the host, was incredibly kind and generous and made himself available for anything we might need. The site itself was very spacious and had beautiful views. After our first night, however, we discovered there is zero shade at the site from about 9:30/10am to early evening. We were so uncomfortably hot we couldn’t make breakfast there or hang out at the site during the day. By dusk we were tormented by hoards of mosquitos (which might be coming from the standing water down the hill). Finally, the main toilet down the hill kept backing up and was pretty much unuseable, so I ended up doing my business in the woods. The pit toilet at the campsite is not for the faint of heart. So we packed up early the next day and headed home.

Cosmo was an excellent host. He suggested we move to another site on his property based on a request we had and it worked out well. He was also very friendly and even gave us an offering. Loved everything about the stay and would recommend again. Long live Kramer!

My wife and I, along with our dog really enjoyed tent camping at Cosmos’s site #3. No other guests were staying at the property and it felt extremely private. The hosts made us feel welcomed, showed us around their vegetable garden, and even gave us some fresh produce. Views from the site were pretty good, I would highly recommend.

Bottom land group campsite #4
We had an awesome time camping at Cosmos!! Such a beautiful property, and campsite 4 has a flushing toilet, lovely outdoor bathtubs that are constantly filling with fresh spring water, a sink and tap for cleaning up and a really cool pagoda hut! We camped there with a group of 60 and threw a little rave and it all went so perfectly! We’ll be back again soon for sure! Cheers for a great weekend Cosmo!

Glad I found Cosmo's Campground. Cosmo is super welcoming and chill. Both my pup and I had a blast. Got one of the tours and hot damn is Cosmo a wealth of knowledge! Unfortunately I had to leave early but Cosmo made it all super simple! I'll definitely be back!

Had an unforgettable weekend on Cosmo's amazing property. Site 3 looked great and definitely had a view, but the larger group site was free so he offered us an upgrade - 4 fenced in acres of forest and field all to ourselves. Cosmo was incredibly friendly and generous, we had all the firewood we could want, and even a flush toilet (!!) in this super secluded site. Our dog literally would not get in the car to leave. We will definitely be back (and booking site 4 intentionally)!

What a beautiful place and an amazing host! We celebrated my birthday here with a group of 15, and Cosmo went above and beyond to make it special. He even upgraded us to a larger campsite, which was perfect for the occasion. The party site itself is magical—you really feel like you have your own private land in the forest, full of funky and fun touches to explore. The DJ booth was a highlight and made our celebration unforgettable. Thank you, Cosmo, for the incredible hospitality and great recommendations!

Amazing stay! The site is beautiful, it has stunning views and is very private, definitely will come back. Cosmo is a great host!, super helpful and friendly. He showed us around the property and all the cool places to visit. We had a small issue with our car battery and he helped us out immediately! Will come back soon!

I highly recommend Cosmos camp! The views are impeccable, the camp host was very sweet and we greatly appreciated his hospitality. The town of Ukiah is adorable and a great place to grab a beer or dinner. The surrounding areas (where camp is) feels totally untouched and is sheerly beautiful... lot's of trees and river. Would camp again, thank you Cosmos!

Cosmo was an awesome host with everything you could want when seeking some quiet outdoor refuge! We were located at site 3 that had an amazing view of the surrounding ridge lines. Not to mention the location of the property being in between Ukiah and Mendocino with many parks nearby! I’ll be back soon👏🏻

Cosmos is the kindest and most pleasant host I’ve ever met while camping. His unique tips for living off-grid were especially impressive. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to escape their busy daily life and find peace in the heart of the forest.

Cosmo's Camp: Campsite #1
This campsite is the definition of a great hipcamp. Cosmo is awesome, full of great stories, and super generous and hospitable. I wish we could have stayed longer. Between exploring around the property and taking in the view, grilling up dinner, enjoying a fire and spending time with the cat residents, we had an awesome stay. I would love to come back and stay longer next time.
