This is our home but we love to share our life in the outback. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. That being said, and to maintain the balance here at home, we'd appreciate if you keep your dogs in your car until you get to your site.
Our offerings include fresh air and sunshine, amazing night sky, endless views, and plenty of space and privacy to enjoy your moments in nature. You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle.
Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable.
For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away.
Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.**
Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. Be sure to check the Google for distance to Cuyama Valley, and your dates for availability and site descriptions. This 60 acre property is located approximately 3 miles east of San Gregorio Beach in the San Gregorio area. There is no home here, only a travel trailer on the Upper Meadow. It is very peaceful, quiet and beautiful throughout the seasons.
We are 5 minutes away from the San Gregorio General Store and cafe and 20 minutes from Alice's Restaurant. We have great cell coverage for Verizon, AT&T and Visible. Experience shows that T-Mobile does not work here and I don't know about the other internet providers.
There are four campsites, each with easy 4WD access. Two of the sites offer total isolation with amazing views while the third site, while in a nice setting, is more useful for a quick overnight stay with no views of the ocean or canyon. Please note that five easy-going cows (no bulls) reside on this property.
Dear winter and spring campers, please consider using "Sensible Weather" for your trip protection in the event of heavy rain or even high temperatures in the summer and fall. I have not used this insurance feature but the description makes it look worth considering, available when reserving on Hipcamp.

Villa Macala is 15 minutes from Diamond Valley Lake where you can enjoy a wildflower trail, fishing or mountain bike trails, museum and water park. It is 20-30 minutes to Pachea Trail and Simpson Park where you can enjoy more great hiking and mountain bike trails. It is also a 30-minute drive to Temecula Wine Country.
We have 2 full outdoor bathrooms, one was most recently added at our Elderberry Camp Site (site 1), and is also close to site 4 our Oaks Campsite as well. (Please note our 2nd bathroom is a good walk uphill from the campsites). Our larger bathroom campers can use with a shower and small fridge to store your food.
We also have a playground with swing set for kids to enjoy.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance.
FIRES: No fires are to be lit by the campers without verbal consent from property owner and instruction. SEE property owner/camp host upon arrival about what you may use on the property. He will provide instructions.
TASTINGS: We offer tastings of our products with advanced notice and we will accommodate based on host availability. The earlier you request the tasting the better, but please no later than 48 to hours before the start of the booking. Thank you!
Macala Orchards Olive Oil, Various Jellies and Jams Pomegranate Juice all made from what we grow are available for tasting upon request. Please let us know prior to arrival if you are interested in a scheduled tasting during your stay! We can provide a tasting if we have the proper staff during your visit. Our products are available for purchase, with or without a tasting. We recommend you bring cash if you are interested. We also take Venmo!
GETTING TO VILLA MACALA: The road up to Villa Macala is a dirt road uphill, all vehicles fair well, we attempt to keep the road maintained as well as possible, after heavy rains it is a bit more bumpy but safe. Drive slow!

This is a real working farm, not a backdrop. Dark skies, roosters at dawn, grove views — and your stay helps fund the farm animal sanctuary on the property (rescued dogs, cats, ducks, geese, chickens, pigs, and goats you may get to meet).
While you're here: Temecula wine country is ~15–20 minutes south — tasting rooms, Old Town Temecula, and Pechanga. Hiking at the Santa Rosa Plateau is close by, Glen Ivy Hot Springs is about half an hour, and Lake Elsinore (skydiving, the lake, minor-league baseball) is 20 minutes north.
Come unwind, recharge, camp host for information as well as the groves website (zephyrmountaingrove) for available Merchandise as well as Avocados and Citrus to see whats in season. Get away on a short trip for a relaxing destress weekend. Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. Choose between the campground, the cabin, or both! You can add the cabin to your campground stay under "extras'!
The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward.
'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here.
This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground.
Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days.
This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers.
Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

- Homesteaded in 1886. This historic retreat rests at the foot of lower Chanchelulla 'Black Rock' Mountain. Bordering a Wilderness Area this land is pristine and wild inhabited by many animals.
- Cold Mineral Springs bubbling out of the mountainside, attracting wildlife along with people seeking out the healing properties of the sulfur scented spring water.
- 100+ acres with private hiking trails along the stream for easy trekking, and summit trails (climbing up to almost 6,000 ft.) to the peak.
⚒️ History, Gold & Sacred Sites
- Sacred healing mineral spring "Deadshot" named by the native peoples for its ability to cure all ailments with 'one shot'. Nipisum or 'health water' was later bottled by the California Medicinal Springs Co. at the turn of the 20th century.
-Historic gold-mining, museums, shops, and classic small-town charm in the greater area.

-Trinity Outpost is committed to the land-sharing ethos of Hipcamp preserving ecology and defending habitat for wildlife and pollinators. The mineral springs and trails are open to the public during the daytime. We also host with WWOOF cultural exchange volunteers helping us bring life back to this historic land building an organic farm and sustainable community. Campground is yours to book but is also surrounded by National Forest Land which belongs to everyone. !!! We expect zero exceptions to the leave no trace standards we have put forward for our private land share.

I’ve had the pleasure to be the “caretaker” of this special land once inhabited by the Maidu Indians for the past 43 years. This is SPECIAL ground here and I’m sure you will feel the MAGIC!!!
This 40 acres sits on the Yuba River Ridgetop. At the "Platform of Pleasure" you will enjoy 100,000+ acre views of protected land looking North to the High Sierra, Just minutes away from downtown Nevada City and 15 miles from Yuba River Trailheads.
Firewood bundles are $15 per bundle, about 2+hours of burn time. (when campfires 🔥 are allowed).
There is a $20.00 dog fee per dog/per stay. You can add the dog fee to your booking or pay cash when you arrive.
On our property like anywhere in the woods there are mosquitos, so you should bring bug spray.
We offer RV sites, flat area for tents, as well as a Serenity Cabin.

Vega Vortex is home to the Gaia Health Retreat which possesses vortex energy!
Expect a warm greeting upon arrival. Parking is close to our Vega Vortex sign and a short walk to your tent. Filtered potable water, electricity, composting toilet, and shower with "on demand" hot/cold water are available. Instructions for use are available should you need assistance.
Experience 3 campsites: BYOT (Bring Your Own Tent) Tent Site (#1) 10'x10', BYOT (Bring Your Own Tent) Site (#2) 8'x8' or an onsite Bell tent complete with carpeted padded flooring, camp lights, shelving, 2 bed frames each with a memory foam mattress plus bedding.
All sites have shaded areas, and picnic tables. *A shower and a compost toilet are available for use to all campers.
Enjoy a designated smoking/vaping spot, multiple benches, swings, a "grounding" spot, birding, water fountains and art.
A no noise policy by the county occurs at 9 pm. Due to a high risk fire zone, no open fires (small camp stoves are ok). Due to the proximity of the tents right next to Vega Rd, sounds from vehicles can be heard. We are situated in a rural neighborhood setting, with sounds of sheep, goats, chickens, wild turkeys, dogs and many birds nestled between both counties. The terrain is hilly with a few gopher holes. Staying on paths limits poison oak exposure. While respecting your privacy, we can be seen improving the property.
***For precautionary measures, we ask that you sign our waiver immediately after you book your reservation. The waiver is "REQUIRED" for you to be able to stay here at the Vega Vortex.
Vega Vortex has been called a Park and Machu Picchu due to the amphitheater landscaping of terracing. Practicing permaculture, a diversity of pollinating plants/ flowers, organic garden and art features exist. Minutes away from National Parks, the Mystery Spot, Santa Cruz Beach Board Walk, Roaring Camp Train, Monterey Bay Aquarium, National Steinbeck Center, Moss Landing, Elkhorn Slough/Canoe/Kayak, Estuaries (bird watching), golfing and multiple beaches.
As a gift for staying here, you may receive either a bottle of "structured" water, a healing tincture, salve, a bottle of infused olive oil or another healing product curated from the Vega Vortex!

Exclusive use is a big bonus. Sam is immediately responsive to questions. Portable toilets super clean and appear to be serviced weekly. There’s not a whole lot to do if the pond is too low, so bring yard games and a total relaxation mindset.

For my 30th birthday, I decided to celebrate by camping in the redwoods. We found this absolute gem of a site! As soon as we arrived we met Terry & Manny, who are lovely hosts. They showed us around and how to use everything. Our first night was beautiful, we could see and hear all the wildlife around us playing cards by the (propane) fire pit. The next day, unfortunately threw a wrench into our quiet haven on the property. A large group of three families arrived at the other site and parked right next to our tent. All of the babies, adults, and dogs were super loud and inconsiderate- even all the wildlife left the area. The hosts were not there to greet them, so I assume they weren't aware of the time this group was arriving. We packed up our site when we couldn't bear all the noise, which cut my birthday trip short. The hosts were very kind & gracious and did everything they could to make it right with us. This property is STUNNING and Terry & Manny put the cherry on top. We would lovvvee to come back and finally try out the hot outdoor shower and add on the yummy-looking cuban dinner!

Great location. Our large site had a ring-side view of an old-growth redwood, amongst all the other redwoods. Doug was great and he and his family and friends fought hard to save his forest during the last fires. What a story! We hired gas for the fire pit and packed out waste. Tip: there are garbage cans at the bottom of the hill at the beach. Oh, and you are just up the road from a beautiful beach, which we spent a half day at during our 2 night stay. Would definitely recommend. Our quiet dog loved the adventure! Thanks Doug and Denise for your hospitality.

The host is super nice (we lost an antique earring and he went out of his way saying he’s a master at finding them and found it and is sending it!)… The cabin is super sweet, plenty of windows for cross breeze, a nice deck to sit out on. One full or queen bed and one double twin day bed, plenty of dimmable lighting, string lights on the outside. The porta potties were very clean and not smelly at all. Would definitely go back again, except for two nights instead of one, because it was too short!

This was my second time at Songsog Ranch. It was even better than the first time. Incredibly peaceful, amazing views of the sunset… I came on my own with my dog, but felt very safe up there on the Mesa. It is my favorite Hipcamp spot and I will be back again!

Jeremy was incredibly kind, helpful, and quick to respond to all of our questions before our trip. His directions were very detailed and made finding the property easy.
When we arrived, Jeremy greeted us, made sure we had everything we needed, and let us know we could reach out anytime if we needed anything. He even had the kayaks ready for us down by the lake, which was such a nice touch!
The views from the balcony were absolutely phenomenal, and we loved watching all the animals around the property. It was such a peaceful and beautiful place to stay.

Tent camping was so much fun under the trees. There was a lot of shade so if you go on a sunnier summer day, no need to bring a canopy. They were so nice to try to greet our “not so friendly” dog.
The area was nice and quiet, some noises from the neighbor’s farm animals and some children playing, but it was not happening for a long time at all.
There was lots of private space, with a portapoty and a grill at the common area. Communication was amazing with the hosts and they are very accommodating and welcoming. Will definitely come back again.
