If you've ever wondered what it might be like to camp on the moon, this is it. Completely removed from civilization and surrounded by a barren nature that is alive with the subtle presence of the universe. Seasonally, Spring wildflowers burst across the landscape. This is our home but we love to share our life in the outback. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. That being said, and to maintain the balance here at home, we'd appreciate if you keep your dogs in your car until you get to your site.
Our offerings include fresh air and sunshine, amazing night sky, endless views, and plenty of space and privacy to enjoy your moments in nature. You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle.
Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable.
For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away.
Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.**
Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. Be sure to check the Google for distance to Cuyama Valley, and your dates for availability and site descriptions. Upon booking, you can look forward to an information packed email to help you make the very best of your trip!

We are secluded and it feels like you're far away from city life yet San Luis Obispo is only a twenty minute drive away. We neighbor Los Padres National Forest which has several miles of hiking and biking trails.
On our farm we have 10 sheep, 10 goats, 29 chickens, 2 pigs, 5 dogs and a cat. Interaction with farm animals is common place as most campsites are close to our animal pastures. Bee hives are located on the property as well. Honey, eggs and firewood are available for purchase. :)

On our property like anywhere in the woods there are mosquitos, so you should bring bug spray.

We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee).

There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public.
Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Thank you.
Enjoy: The Kitchen has a 3-burner cooktop, large fridge, microwave, full dishes and utensils and pots and pans with a big washing area in the back. Propane barbecue grill.. There's a River Barn to use as a remote space and Turtle Cove for swimming. Saturday morning Farmer's Market in downtown at 9 AM - Noon.
Ancestral land of the Foothill Yokuts tribe. Homesteaded in 1859, owned by the Negus family from 1909-2000. Barbara and I bought it to save it from subdivision and it's now protected by a Conservation Easement and acts as a community center for the arts, music, poetry, gatherings and outdoor education. They are about 300 feet apart and not easily visible from each other. Property is fully fenced; both sites are next to an open field under the oaks with vineyard, olive orchard and mountain views. This property is 30 miles from Paso Robles and almost perfectly centered between Missions San Antonio and San Miguel. Lakes San Antonio and Nacimiento are close by. Coastal towns of Cayucos and Morro Bay are about an hour scenic drive, passing many wineries along the way. There is space for multiple RVs or additional tents sharing your party's RV restroom facilities. Site one will accommodate sixteen people and multiple vehicles. Site two will accommodate ten people and two vehicles. For larger groups we ask that that you book both sites. We have hosted many family reunions and the feedback has been 100% positive. Coppercreek Camp is your mountain escape with fresh air and dark night skies perfect for star gazing. Come stay in a cabin or pitch a tent with friends and family and enjoy endless miles of hiking, biking, and riding trails. Coppercreek Camp is located in Plumas County 10 minutes from Lake Almanor, the Feather River, and Round Valley Lake. We are an hour from Lassen National Park.
Picnic by our ponds, play in our sandpit volleyball court, relax in a hammock, watch your kids put on a show at our amphitheater, and watch the sunset over Keddie Peak. The frogs and crickets will sing you to sleep. Ask us how to access our trails and other ponds.
Our bunk cabins are rustic with electricity, windows and locking doors, and each cabin has different bed accommodations. Please bring all of your own bedding and sleeping bags. Some of the cabins have heat/AC.
We have tent sites available with picnic tables and can accommodate dry-camping RVs. We are still working on installing RV hook-ups.
May through October there is a bath and shower house with hot water and flush toilets. Propane fire pits are available for rent. We have an ice machine on in the summer months located by our Main Lodge.
The winters are cold and snowy, spring and fall are ideal with warm sunny days and cool, crisp nights, and the summer has warm evenings and hot days. There is plenty of shade with large pine, cedar and oak trees and open sunny space in the meadow. Coppercreek Camp is your perfect mountain getaway for the whole family!
Please note: The Dixie fire burned our town of Greenville in August 2021. There is ongoing repair work in the local area, a lot of burned forest, but still many beautiful sites to see. Much of our property burned, but we are rebuilding and have beautiful green trees with plenty of shade. All of our pictures on HipCamp are post-fire and up-to-date. Please come and support our special town as we rebuild!
The town of Greenville is located about 5 minutes from our property and offers a grocery store, Dollar General, gas station with mini mart, and wonderful food trucks. Grab the best quesadillas and drinks from the Way Baby or delicious coffee and breakfast from The Valley Grind.

Excellent Group Site! We only host one group at a time so you can be with your family and friends in a large, flat and private space. Choose between the campground, the cabin, or both! You can add the cabin to your campground stay under "extras'!
The land was originally purchased in the 1980's. Since then, it has been used by four generations of the family as a place to gather, relax, camp and even celebrate. I had my wedding on the property in 2010. For a few years we held an annual music festival with the very inventive name of Samapalooza. Up to 400 people would attend the day filled with live music, food and drinks. You will still find the stage and bar we built as an outdoor kitchen and dining area.
Around 2008, my father and I planted our first olive trees. Many have been planted since which has gifted the land the timeless sense of purpose it deserves. My father dedicated his last years to tending the young trees and now I have taken the mantle to carry the farm forward.
'The Property', as it is known amongst family and friends has always been a place to camp. I have sat around the same fire ring for decades, rain or shine. I hope that fellow hipcampers can find the joy that my family and I have experienced here.
This is a very private camp on a small olive farm. Geographically close to highways and the town of Novato, Sonoma and Napa wine country, this camp feels remote and secluded. Only one camp on the property to keep it private and special. You basically have your run of the land. We have just updated the land and made some nice improvements. Located on ten acres, you will drive past a small olive grove before reaching the spacious and open campground.
Just up the hill from the camp is a private pond where you can fish, take out a small boat or just sit and watch the birds. It can be great swimming on hot summer days.
This spot has been used by the family for decades and is now open to share with fellow nature lovers.
Just a note: While the majority of the time you can expect complete privacy, this is a working olive farm. From time to time you may run into me (Sam) or someone else associated with the land. We will always do our best to respect your space.

- There is a simple latrine at each site. A full bath house with a flush toilet and hot shower is available next to the main house. A water spigot is attached to the main house.
- Spare camping supplies are available by the bath house if you forget something! Ask ahead if you need to borrow a specific item.
More about the property: I built my home high upon a southern ridge. Watching the river of coastal fog flow in and out below me is one of the most wonderful views to behold! I have 30 acres of land to explore and camp upon in the surrounding redwood forest.
10 miles east are Montgomery Woods redwood preserve with GIANT trees, and a little farther, perhaps a mile is the famous Orr Hot Springs Resort. If you drive a half hour west from my land you will be in the coastal Mendocino village.
We are marijuana friendly!! Thus, we have created more of an adult oriented atmosphere.

I arrived to Cosmo’s super late after a long day going up the coast. It was a last minute book that morning, if I remember right - my campsite had fallen through. His directions were spot on, and very kindly he stayed up to take me to my site and help me get set up, even going so far as to light me a fire. His property was easily navigable in the dark, and my two wheel drive made it fine. We talked for a while - what a cool guy. He was able to give me recommendations from a friend of what to do during the next legs of my trip, which was great and really did make a difference for the rest of my week. I cooked my dinner and sat stunned looking at some of the best stargazing I’ve had in a long time.When I woke up I realized that I had been sleeping next to a mountainside view - this was site 3. Talk about the best surprise I’ve gotten in a while unzipping a tent. The clouds were gathered in the valley and as I ate breakfast I got to watch the sun slowly clear then out. It was unbelievable.Before I left, Cosmo let me use his indoor solar-heated shower and told me all about his projects to build his own home and roads and move towards a more sustainable future. Overall this is really the best of what I imagine hipcamp has to offer - kind property owners & unique individuals who care about their guests while also allowing them to have their own experience. If I’m ever near Mendocino I will gladly make the trip inland to stay at his property again."

The Olive Farm treated us as well as ever! We love this spot so much, and this was our first time bringing our puppy Juniper as well. She loved it, and the owners had just done a ton of landscaping which helped keep the foxtails and such out of the main campsite for which we are very grateful! This is seriously our favorite spot, can't wait to be back again!

We really enjoyed tent camping at Maidu Park Campground. We camped right on the edge of the large meadow with plenty of shade and sun.
The fire pit and water hose were great.
The property is beautiful with marked trails.
Adam was very responsive to all of our messages and questions.

Group trip
We had 2 adults and 5 teens stay at Jeremy's, and we all had an amazing time! My husband and I stayed in the cute cabin (air conditioning worked great!) and the kids pitched tents. The view is incredible, and the walk down and back from the reservoir was a good workout. The kids had such a fun time on the water, and we really enjoyed our stay.
Jeremy is so nice, and an absolutely fabulous host. He came by a number of times to check and make sure we had everything we need, and he even delivered a dozen fresh eggs our second morning. What a treat! It was nice having the BBQ and the fire pit, and he had an extra tank of propane when we ran out.
I am a bit of a nervous driver, and Jeremy even offered to drive my truck back up the road (and I ended up doing it and being perfectly fine).
Last, he had great recommendations for restaurants and winetasting nearby. All in all a great trip! Yay!

Weekend Trip to Wisdom eco-preserve
We had a great time at the Serenity Cabin. It was beautiful and secluded in the woods with everything we needed. We brought a cast iron pan with us to cook outside on the fire which I would recommend to anyone in the future! The bathroom was a short walk across the meadow. The mosquitos were around but once we lit a citronella candle and started a fire they did not bug us at all (haha). We enjoyed activities nearby Nevada City, Scotts Flat Reservoir, and the Yuba River at Edwards Crossing Bridge as well. Adam has created a beautiful property that is very lovely and relaxing.

We had a wonderful experience! The treehouse with its beautiful lake view was a highlight — we loved waking up to that scenery. The hike down to the lake quite a trek on a hot day but totally worth it, and having a shower near the treehouse made it so convenient.
Kayaking on the lake was great, and swimming in the cool, clean water on a hot day was refreshing — the kids loved it! We also loved cooking on the camp stove and enjoying a picnic dinner near the treehouse.
The sleeping arrangements were comfortable and worked perfectly for our family of 4. Jeremy was very responsive, warm, and helpful throughout our stay.
We would absolutely recommend this place to any family looking for a unique outdoor getaway. We will definitely be back! 🌅🛶

Really beautiful place! The view was incredible. I loved that it was at the top of a mountain above the clouds. It was chilly when the wind would pass through, but perfect temperature once the wind stopped. The space is a great size with a nice car-port-esque covering off to the side if weather takes a turn and you need coverage. Zero complaints, I will absolutely be returning this summer!

It is private at the end of a row of campsites, has shaded tent area, soft sand for sleeping in on a a warm night and the constant soothing sound of running water with the river flowing 40 feet away.
Only downside is the swim beach is 4-5 campsites away and the porta potties are about 500 feet away. To me it’s the best spot if you want to relax in privacy.

Stacy’s site was great. Only spent a quick night there but the place was great. It’s tucked away in the woods and very private. The bathrooms are great and there is an outdoor shower, outdoor covered kitchen and pavilion area. They have an onsite hose (Lance??) who was super helpful. Great site for a small group of friends or a couple of families.

The property owners really intentionally thought these sites through. They have multiple power and water sites in each spot. Site 1 and 2 are not visible from one another. So if you have someone in the other spot you get your privacy. The rights in the trees make it an IG instant. The fire pit AND grill are excellent. The table is great. They even have a 220v outlet where you can charge an EV on the property. (You have to bring your own charger). The only part that wasn’t there (or we didn’t find it) was the porta potty. For us it was really windy right until sundown. Once it cooled down and got dark we had no wind (May). I think this might be typical as King City nearby is always windy. At night you hear coyotes but there’s a fence around the whole property and we never saw anything on the property. (Coyotes are everywhere in California). I would absolutely return.

What a beautiful spot - lovely open and distant views, clear area for star-gazing, clean site and great communication. We walked up just a little bit more to the higher point where there were chairs and a table as well for admiring the view. The directions about the gate etc. were clear and timely; if coming from the north on the 101, the road crossing from the brake check area requires some extra time (or go on to the next exit down the hill). We will definitely be back!

This site was unbelievable. The views of the SLO area were some of the best I’ve ever seen, and you truly feel like you’re camping! Our site was “The Range” and it truly felt like we had our own private land up on top of the world. 360° views, beautiful sunset and sunrise, and plenty of space to set up tents and enjoy a nice fire. The host Karina was super nice, and came to check on us during our stay. She was very responsive when communicating, and a great host in general. I would 1000% recommend staying here, you will not be disappointed!!

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

We have a peaceful stay at the super view cabin. There are horses , goats, sheep and chickens hanging out on the property. Lots of room to hike and explore. It’s backed up on blm . We kayaked, cooked eggs frszh from the coop and hung out on the deck of the cabin watching the stunning view. Wish we stayed more than one night! We will be back.
Jeremy and Michelle are super cool , accommodating and responsive.
