This 60 acre property is located approximately 3 miles east of San Gregorio Beach in the San Gregorio area. There is no home here, only a travel trailer on the upper level. It is very peaceful, quiet and beautiful throughout the seasons. We are 5 minutes away from the San Gregorio General Store and cafe and 20 minutes from Alice's Restaurant. We have great cell coverage for Verizon. There are three campsites, each with easy 4WD access. Two of the sites offer total isolation with amazing views while the third site, while in a nice setting, is more useful for a quick overnight stay with no views of the ocean or canyon. Please note that five easy-going cows (no bulls) reside on this property.

This is an isolated, beautiful site that affords a view of the ocean and hills to the west. There are multiple oak trees providing a canopy-like feeling along with their natural beauty. The porta potty is at the base of this ranch, approximately a 14 minute walk or four minute drive from this site. It is truly a unique campsite that has marveled past visitors.

This campsite is located at the top of the property, approximately 7/8 of a mile from the county road. 4WD or hiking is required to access this site. It is impassible when wet. The ocean is viewable to the west and a large, uninhabited canyon exists to the east. It is a truly unique and beautiful location. The porta potty is a 10-15 minute hike or four minute drive from this site. Part of the road leading to the site is steep, so RVs and travel trailers are not allowed. Small camping trailers might be okay with prior approval of ranch manager, depending on the towing vehicle and size of the trailer. It's possible to make a turnaround at the site with a vehicle under 17ft and a lower profile.

The Upper Meadow

This meadow is approximately four acres in size for dispersed camping. It has a view of the ocean and hills below. While some campers have stayed in tents, this site is most suitable for trailers and vans. There are three trailers that are spaced far apart on the east side perimeter of the meadow and they may or may not be occupied. It's is a quiet area and only one visiting camper party is allowed at the same time. Bringing a trailer is no problem as long as you have AWD or 4WD. It is spacious so maneuvering a trailer is no problem. There are no amenities at this site, so campers should come prepared. There is a porta potty at the lower level of the ranch, about a 10 minute walk. The porta potty is clean and non-offensive. The area is relatively level but there are cattle hoof print depressions resulting from the wet season.

This site is in a nice setting with a porta potty very close by. The porta potty is serviced weekly and well-maintained. This site is located approximately 100 yards from the county road. It is best suited for campers needing a place to stay overnight while traveling. There is no view other than the surrounding trees and field. 4wd is not needed.

The Upper Meadow
My husband and I were testing out a camper van and driving down the coast and we enjoyed this spot! It’s peaceful and quiet with pretty views of the sea in the distance. Art was very friendly and communicative about accessing the spot, etc. It was very easy to find - even in the dark and in the fog - because of Art’s instructions. As others have noted the porta potty is a little ways away and down a hill so just be aware of that when you book. We would definitely stay here again!

The views are breathtaking. It is quiet and relaxing! Expect to bring your own toilet so you don't have to leave the ridge when you need to go and refill your water jug at the water station he has at the top (Not for drinking). Very convenient. There's a lot of shade but bring your own awning or EZ up for extra flexibility. He added a picnic table and there's a small bench. If you have a HOWL (portable propane campfire), approve it with him at the time but that's probably the only kind of fire that would be accepted. Definitely bring layers of clothing as it could get either windy and cold during different times of the day. But expect to be relaxed and ready for the week after you are done camping!!!!

Exactly what I wanted. Easy to access and quiet property with great views. The meadow is above the typical fog line so sunsets should be amazing and mornings should be bright and sunny. Art is super friendly and helpful.

Amazing spot! Very close to highway 1. Stayed here on a surf trip. Lovely campsite. Would recommend getting there to watch the sunset.

What a fabulous location! It was a pleasure to get to meet Art and to camp on the property. I stayed at the Oak Grove site, which had a great combination of natural light and shade, with a view of the ocean through the nearby pass. Higher up on the property is the ridge site that has unobstructed views in both directions and is really gorgeous. I didn’t stay there because it was only vacant for one night, but I did hike up there to watch the sunset and it was really special. Thanks Art for a great weekend!

The Oak Grove site was a hidden gem. Driving through the coastal plains and then through the brown grass, it's all the more surprising to come upon the forest on the hill. Stas greeted me at the gate and showed me to my site, introduced me to Ronda and her dog Savannah. The property was scenic, warm, with great views and good company. Didn't encounter any cows but hopefully next time I visit I will. Highly recommend!

This was a perfect spot because you felt like you were out there all by yourself! Very secluded, quiet, & you can’t see any other people from this location. Art was a fantastic host! Very gracious and friendly. All instructions were very clear and it was easy to find and get to. There is a peekaboo view of the ocean😊

I loved my 1-night stay and would definitely book again. Art is a wonderful host and very welcoming. Although I originally booked the Meadow, Art gave me the option to change to the Oak Grove or Ridge Top, since both sites were vacant that night. Both are amazing and private. I would have gone with the Oak Grove but the road down to it was more than I felt comfortable tackling in my low-clearance car (just a few dips/ruts that higher vehicles would have zero issue with). So I ended up on the Ridge Top and WOW! It's incredible—lovely views and very private. Even lower-profile vehicles can make it up no problem. My two dogs and I loved our stay. We had a gorgeous moonlit night!

Book this before it blows up! Bear Gulch is a perfect Hipcamp. Tucked in the hills off the coast, and nestled on top of a narrow ridge, it's got 360 views of the ocean and surrounding coast. Incredibly private, dog friendly, and plenty of trees for shade. Art is a helpful, knowledgable host - we loved hearing about how he came to own this land. You're about 5 mins from the San Gregorio General Store and 10 mins from the ocean.

This site is truly a gem! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed into a wonderful, peaceful setting that provided the perfect escape from everyday life. Art was very communicative and even did some research for me to find some pet-friendly hikes in the area. He met us on time and gave us a little tour, and then left us in peace. The ridge was a little windy but we found a spot protected by trees. Unfortunately there was a party with loud music going on nearby - it happens!
