The hostess, Yeven, is the BEST! She’s extremely responsive and kind. The grounds are impeccably kept. The cobins are amazing. They’ve thought of all the little details. Stop at the store on your way and be sure to grab ingredients for smores! Our family had such a great time. We can’t wait to return.

It has been a dream of mine to one day build a cob home and live in it during my retirement, so discovering this little gem tucked away in Watsonville felt incredibly special. I stayed in the Buckleberry Bunk, and what began as an opportunity to experience sleeping in a cob structure became so much more. Yeyen, the owner, has been incredibly mindful of every detail that goes into creating the Hobbit experience. From the beautifully handcrafted structures to the whimsical opportunity to truly become a Hobbit, with costumes and even elf ears, there is a sense of magic everywhere you turn. The cob structures are beautifully crafted. Being inside feels almost like being held by Mother Earth; quiet, peaceful, private, and deeply grounding. At the same time, the way the courtyard and shared spaces are arranged naturally invites people to come together and creates a lovely sense of community. And I can't forget the animal parade! Such a delightful part of the experience. Ending the evening with pies and ice cream that Yeyen brought made the night even sweeter. For a glamping experience, the showers felt wonderfully luxurious, and the communal kitchen had everything we could possibly need and beyond. Thank you, Yeyen and all the furry friends, for creating such a memorable experience. I already look forward to my next adventure at the Hobbit Hideout. I'm even dreaming about returning for a Winter Solstice private gathering. A truly magical little world tucked away in Watsonville.

Pippins Perch!!

Loved glamping on the land. The cobbins were so cute and the communal kitchen was very nice. We played games, ate snacks and drank wine by the firepit and really enjoyed relaxing! The bed was comfortable and it was so nice waking up to the view through the roof window! The baby donkeys were just too cute!!

A kitchen worthy of Hobbits

It was such a fun and relaxing experience. We mimicked our neighbors in sipping evening drinks (tea for us) and listening to the Hobbit feeling the full ambiance of coastal California and Tolkien. The outdoor common kitchen was like nothing I had experienced in camping.

The communal set-up was beautifully put together. I appreciated having a full refrigerator/freezer to use, filtered drinking water available, and the thoughtfully designed camp bathroom set up with the choice of compost/water-running toilets and multiple showers. Everything was pristine and cozy.

Lovely!

This campsite is stunning. The details make it such a special little place. The host is attentive and accommodating and started the trip with a long list of local recommendations which was so appreciated. We tried I think 5 of the their recommendations and each was lovely. Starting the visit with a trip to Santa Cruz farmers market meant we got to prepare the most delicious grilled veggies paired with fresh focaccia for dinner the first night in the beautiful outdoor kitchen. The most notable food experiences apart from that was the poke at the Hideout in Aptos, half shell clams at Miyuki in Watsonville, and the Farm Store Bakery & Gifts for breakfast. We even had a visit at the campsite from some very friendly neighbor dogs which was so nice. To no one’s fault, the only downside was our stay happened to coincide with one of the hottest days the coast can see and there isn’t a lot of airflow in the Cobin’s, but it was still a very enjoyable experience overall and made for a nice little retreat. I could absolutely see this being a wonderful place to get away for a girls trip or reunion! I would love to visit again if I’m in the area.

Visiting the hobbit village was truly a magical experience! Cabins were like a story book under the oaks with ample tables, chairs, games and completely stocked and organized outdoor kitchen. Little decorative touches everywhere

We had a great time camping here! The campsite was clean, peaceful, and well-maintained. The location was beautiful, and the facilities were convenient and easy to use. The staff was friendly and helpful, and everything was well organized. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy the outdoors!

Can we give 10 ⭐️’s? If so we could!! Can’t rave enough about the host Yeyen! She’s so friendly and enjoyable! You can tell she loves sharing this with all of us! She let our kids enjoy her horses, alpacas, llamas and mini donkeys. It was so nice to pet, feed and hangout with them. Her and her husband were very welcoming and made us feel like we belonged there. Very friendly! As far as the cobbins. They are so nice, you can tell the love that went into making this to share with us all! The fine details, fresh flowers, costumes and details in the whole area is so beautiful!

A wonderful stay with our dogs

We really had the perfect stay in the Frodo & Bilbo 'cobbin'. We felt so welcome, along with our dogs, and everything was clear - from check-in to check-out. Leaving us with no stress and a truly relaxing experience. What was most impressive was the attention to detail in the design of the cobbin, it really was beautiful - the pictures barely do it justice. The whole site was very well thought through, with enough amenities and comfort without being overdone. The bed was very comfortable, and the kitchen and bathrooms were of a high quality. Last but not least, Yenyen (+ her dogs!) is a very considerate, practical host. Looking forward to another visit!

We had an absolutely incredible stay at this Hobbit hideaway! The hosts were incredibly accommodating and kind. All of the facilities are brand new and absolutely beautiful, it felt like a luxury experience! As a Lord of the rings nerd, I was happy to see all of the little nods to the novels and movies. This was absolutely the most memorable birthday of my entire life, and I don't say that lightly! There were even llamas and other animals on the property that made the experience really really fun. The outdoor kitchen was very well stocked and made it feel like a home away from home. I truly did not want to leave!!

Charming woodland escape

Charming, clean, eco-friendly campground with a well-equipped outdoor kitchen and shared bathroom. The owners put a lot of care and details into this new campground, and it shows. I stayed in a “cobin” and it was comfortable and well kept. The mature oak trees around the property give it shade and beauty.

Magical hobbit Hideaway

I've been to a lot of hotels some fancy others not so much but they never feel like home... have a Hideaway feels like home to be honest with you I didn't wanna leave... cozy, cute, friendly. This place is magical. If you're looking for the full service boutique hotel this isn't it but if you're looking for a truly peaceful, warm and inviting place to stay this is the place. Not only will I be back I'm gonna invite all my friends to take over the whole hideaway and we're just gonna camp out there and enjoy the serenity and each other's company

Hobbit Hideout was such a special experience. It’s hard to compare it to anywhere else because it truly feels original and completely one of a kind. From the moment we arrived, there was this wonderfully peaceful, almost magical quality to the place. Everything feels intentional without feeling overdone - creative, charming, a little unexpected, and incredibly zen. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, unplug, and just enjoy being where you are. If you’re looking for a cookie-cutter camping or glamping experience, this isn’t it - and that’s exactly what makes Jobbit so memorable. It has personality, soul, and a sense of place that you just can’t manufacture. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and very glad we got to experience it. An absolute Hipcamp gem and a stay we won’t forget. Thank you, Yeyen!
