Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. We believe it will give you a better appreciation of life's simpler side. That being said, and to maintain the balance here at home, we'd appreciate if you keep your dogs in your car until you get to your site. Our offerings include fresh air and sunshine, amazing night sky, endless views, and plenty of space and privacy to enjoy your moments in nature. You'll find our amenities and activities puposefully sparse here. Upon booking, there are about 5 miles of dirt road on the property that you are welcome to explore on foot or by bicycle. Rustic is the theme here. There is no shower, no wifi, and no electricity available, but you will enjoy your own private spigot and the cellular service is acceptable. For any sites located south of Ballinger Wash, your vehicle length is limited to 22' and no more than 4' overhang from the rear axle, so you don't get stuck in the crossing and block access for others. Towing services are 1-3 hours away. Our Songdog Camps are sparsely scattered atop a 200 foot mesa that looks west over a valley offering stunning desert sunsets and amazing stargazing. These UPPER SITES are NOT OHV friendly, but any of our canyon bottom sites are a great base for your riding adventures up in Ballinger Canyon OHV. We'll be happy to recommend a site for you. **Forest Service law enforcement is actively ticketing unplated OHV on Ballinger Canyon Road. Be sure to know and abide by the laws.** Our friendly cancellation policies vary between 24 hours for simple campsites and 72 hours for our Glamp sites and Group sites. Be sure to check the Google for distance to Cuyama Valley, and your dates for availability and site descriptions. There is NOTHING like being in the wilderness of this area for a good re-centering of the soul! We have found it to be a true blessing for our family, and we hope you can experience this blessing as we share this space with you. We feel certain you will not be disappointed with our beautiful river canyon. Our property is situated right on the middle fork Cosumnes river. The swimming is awesome and the stars at night will put you into a state of awe! In the area there are many family owned wineries in the area, most of them offering free tasting! It’s a short drive to Tahoe and the Marshall gold discovery site as well as the historic hangtown Placerville. We are happy to make suggestions for local hiking areas, like the Devil's Slide "Gorge" only a 15 minute drive but like a trip to mini Yosemite. The Caldor Fire was VERY close to our property and a back burn was initiated nearby the our house (literally 200' away!). Our property became a pivotal point of fighting the fire in our community known as the “Ant Hill Army”. Ask us about the story!

Located within 45 minutes of the wine country and 2 miles from the coast, our property is 400 acres of rolling hills and redwood groves, with a creek running along its base. With miles of trails meandering through quiet woods and meadows, you will be able to revel in the tranquility of a private preserve, without sacrificing easy access to some of Sonoma County's most famous attractions. A hundred years ago, this land was used to graze sheep. Remnants of the old fence lines can still be seen in places, along with old cement troughs. Since then, the land has been left to its own devices, passing through many hands, most famously owned by two brothers in the 1980's who built a truly amazing tree house in the forest which has been featured in several magazine articles. It was revamped and updated in 2016 by a master craftsman, using fallen redwood logs found on the property and is now a unique structural work of art, available for overnight stays. We produce 100% grass fed, dry-aged beef on our certified organic pastures and have a store on site if you would like to purchase delicious steaks, ribs, ground beef for hamburgers or some roasts to take home. Our cattle graze on the native grasses, never grain, and drink only water produced from our own springs. We also raise Kiko meat goats and produce pastured, certified organic duck eggs on a commercial basis. Whether it's surfing at sandy beaches, award-winning clam chowder, a wine tour, horseback riding or a hot air balloon ride you're after, you won't have far to drive if you make our ranch your base camp. You may see a family of deer appear suddenly, or a few Scottish Highland cows which we allow to roam freely over the property. There are over twenty species of wild birds that grace this protected spot, so bring your binoculars! A portion of your fee goes towards protecting native flora and fauna as part of our private wildlife preservation program. A limited number of private, widely spaced camp spots are available for visitors. The Eagles' Nest Treehouse (mentioned above) is very isolated and you may or may not even be aware that there are other people within miles of you. For those who value nature, seclusion, quiet and the artistry of old growth redwood, this is the place for you.

We had an amazing beautiful time at Nopalito Farm. We stayed in the Coyote camp. We were greeted by Gerdie, the farm dog and Jacob. He explained info about the place, the kitchen, our accomodatins, the bathroom and what I came for, the pizza oven! We had a beautiful naps on the hammocks, and a shower under the stars and we saw our first ever moonrise over the mountain! It was absolutely worth it and I highly recommend staying here. Loved glamping on the land. The cobbins were so cute and the communal kitchen was very nice. We played games, ate snacks and drank wine by the firepit and really enjoyed relaxing! We had an unbelievable stay. The A frame was so cozy, perfect for a couple. The kitchen was truly amazing. It was fully stocked with appliances and tools that could prepare any meal. The bathroom was beautiful and the outdoor shower was one of the highlights of the trip. Jacob clearly thought out every detail. Calming spot to relax in the tub. This place was amazing, and it felt really secluded, despite being on a hill. The tepid tub is a nice touch, great after a hot day of hiking or driving.

2 nights at San Diego Canyon Creek

Laura was a great host, helpful and quick to reply. The cabin was very nice, and larger on the inside. The bathroom was even nicer than I expected, everything was clean and well kept. The location is a bit off the beaten path, with a short, winding mountainish drive, so it felt like a good retreat getaway from the city. Would definitely stay thete again!

It was such a fun and relaxing experience. We mimicked our neighbors in sipping evening drinks (tea for us) and listening to the Hobbit feeling the full ambiance of coastal California and Tolkien. The outdoor common kitchen was like nothing I had experienced in camping.

Weekend Trip to Freedog Farms @ Cactus Flower Ranch

Free Dog Farms was a great place to stay. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The location is close to hiking and the beach and a great stop if you are driving up or down the coast. We stayed in the green and white vintage trailer. It was super cute and cozy. The mattress was a little thin for me, but I'm picky about mattresses so I bring a travel mattress topper, which made it ok. Be aware that there is no water in the camping areas (except non potable water to wash your hands by the port potties). This is not a huge deal if you are used to dry camping, but definitely read the camping info so you are prepared. The owners let us refill our water bottles from the water by the barn since we used up more than we expected hiking! We would stay here again.

I loved camping at this location. It was beautiful, well taken care of, and the owners were so incredibly nice. We really enjoyed staying in the little camper especially because it had a propane stove, running water and electricity! We were close to two lovely watering holes and the girls enjoy their first camping experience

Weekend Trip to The Ranch at Lake Sonoma

We absolutely loved staying at The Ranch! We wanted a good medium between camping but with basic comforts (bathroom, bed, etc.). The room was very spacious, and our dog loved having her own little bed (and the food and water bowl was a nice addition). The bed was amazing, one of the best we've ever slept on and the pillows were great. It was chilly at night but with all of the extra blankets we were practically sweating! The view was beautiful, and the bathroom was clean. We already decided we will be coming back for another weekend getaway :)

1 night at Lone Juniper Ranch

We stayed one night at lone juniper ranch and it was a great experience! My kids absolutely adored feeding carrots to the camels, alpacas, and llamas. The property has lots of hiking trails and it's very quiet at night. Our cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed.
