Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Our 42 acres is located at the beginning of the award winning Adelaide Wine trail in Paso Robles.
Our ranch was once home to a horse boarding and breeding ranch which bred Paso Fino horses, known for their beautiful gait.
Having been a horse ranch, it left us with some nice trails that you can enjoy during your stay.
We have some nice uphill walks to view your local surroundings while sitting to enjoy a glass of wine or you morning cup of coffee/tea.
We are on a well out here so at times you may get a sulphur/mineral smell to the water.
Please bring your own drinking/cooking water.
It is safe to shower, my hair feels so much thicker!
On the ranch you will see that we have 2 donkeys, Desi (black) and Lucy (light grey).
Along with our donkeys we have to friendly goats, Fiona (brown) and Sadie (white), they love carrots.
but please stick to one carrot a day each, we don't want to over feed them.
We also have chickens which means have farm fresh eggs. $5 for 1/2 dozen.
Up on the hill you will see Connie a cow and her buddy Samuel, the bull. they love carrots but please do not go into their pasture. She'll think you're bringing food and gets very dangerously excited.
Please feel free to walk the property and become one with nature while observing the local indigenous floral and fauna.

The Airstream has one King bed with a super comfy mattress and the dinette turns in to an additional King sleeping space.
If you want a true immersive, farm experience, ask about our add-on experiences including grooming the animals, helping at feed time, and cleaning their pens! There's plenty of great space to ride your bikes, and it's proven to be a hit with the kiddos!
The Airstream is new to the ranch and is a work in progress, but you'll love the charm of hanging out in a very cool vintage trailer. We'll soon be adding some layers of paint, shine, and lots of love, so make sure to follow our progress in fixing the ole girl up!
Our location is also unique because we are fully fenced in and have a separate turn out space for your horses (check add-ons for camping with your horse). We also have a small 1954 Camper ("Lucy") that can act as a second bedroom for more sleeping space (check for add-on).
**WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: We can provide a ramp for the Airstream for accessibility, though please be aware the camper is small, likely not wide enough for a standard wheelchair, and the bathroom is also small and doesn't meet ADA standards. Please ask if you have questions?!

Welcome to Coco, the 1970 Overlander 27’ Airstream! We have tried to preserve her 50-year-old charm as much as possible and are still in the process of restoring her to her original glory. Our family of 4 humans, two dogs, and one guinea pig lived in Coco while our house was being built. It was quite an adventure!
Coco is nestled in the foothills of the Sierras on our semi-private 4-acre property. Easy access to Grass Valley, Nevada City, and the Yuba River. Coco the Airstream is fully functional with a kitchen and bathroom. There is one full-ish size bed that sleeps two comfortably in the bedroom area, and the couch can fold into one twin-sized bed.
We are located about 15 minutes to town and 10 to the nearest grocery store. Coco the Airstream shares the property with a private family of four humans and two dogs in a house at the top of the hill. My parents are full time RVers and often stay in the other RV spot on our property throughout the year when they are taking a break from traveling. The two dogs are very friendly but may bark to greet you upon your arrival.

Come Stay at our beautiful desert hideaway. Enjoy the tranquility, the star gazing, the vistas, the coyotes singing in the distance, say hello to all the farm animals, join in on a horse back ride through the Mojave desert, explore the surrounding areas such as the ghost town of Goodsprings, the famous Pioneer Saloon, Tecopa hot springs, the Mojave national preserve, red rock canyon, 7 magic mountains to name a few.
There is Wi-fi in the main ranch house which is open 24/7. It is the large red and white building to the right when you enter the ranch. There are additional showers and bathrooms there as well.
We do offer meals at the main ranch house but you must contact the kitchen manager to pre book your meals. That info is provided after a booking.
We do offer horse back rides, cattle penning, cattle drives and shooting at our shooting range. You have to call reservations to book any of these activities.

Weekend Trip to Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF
My wife and I visited this place to celebrate her birthday. Upon arrival Kelley received us very kindly and explained the whole place to us and we spent two nights in the pearl of the best. We had time to cook and visit the nearby places that Kelley recommended us to visit. We enjoyed swimming in Emerald pools and hiking on Spaulding Lake and Sierra Discovery Trail. I would definitely recommend this place to visit

Cas and Brielle really did a great job setting up the camper with a lot of great information, amenities, and decoration. We really appreciated the attention the detail and ambiance! It was really nice to be able to sit outside and look at the stars and the beds were very comfy after a long day. Parking and logistics were also very easy. Highly recommend staying here!

Peaceful quiet location, yet near to fantastic beaches, and towns for shopping, farmer’s markets, and events. The land is a work in progress, in the early stage. The view in front of the trailer and around the property is forest. The trailer is a smallish vintage Airstream, with a cute Gypsy Boho vibe inside. Old surfaces def not on the clean side, if you need that. Lots of storage as trailers are good at optimizing space. The power is battery and solar, with propane for heat and stovetop cooking. On demand hot water. I was able to create a comfortable atmosphere for myself while there.
And the host Micah is awesome, and very responsive if you need anything.

The highlight was being able to see so many stars! I wasn't sure if we'd be far away enough from vegas but we definitely were! And all the horses are so friendly and walk right up to the gates to greet you. We only stayed for one night. We would've stayed another if we had booked the horse back riding offered on their website.

We were asked to keep our dog off the bed, which wasn't big deal, there was plenty of room in the airstream for his bed. Over all, I was very happy with this trip!

This was my first Hipcamp experience and it did not disappoint. The location was very easy to access, and the views were AMAZING!!! The campsites were spread out providing enough privacy. The Airstream was perfect and had everything I needed. Good size bed which was comfortable, nice little sink and stove, toilet and shower, and a nice dining area with bench seating. The RV outside had an overhang providing good shade. The hosts were kind enough to provide a propane firepit, two camping chairs, a large table bench, and a charcoal grill. The camping spot had a hiking trail right in front of it, which was nice to trek.
Overall, it was a great experience and hosts were beyond accommodating. Would love to come back very soon!

Weekend Trip to Moonstone Hideaway
This was a gorgeous, cute, cozy and comfortable space! I had never stepped foot in an RV before (and am pretty new to camping as a whole) so I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was impressed by just about every aspect of the experience.
I unexpectedly lost cell phone service (T Mobile) for a huge radius around the site – obviously not Micah's fault, it just made communication a bit tricky and we ended up missing Micah this time around. But, Micah was VERY kind, welcoming, communicative, and supportive even remotely while having to adapt to this challenge. I certainly hope we'll get to return, and to meet then! So be prepared for spotty service even if your carrier advertises otherwise – and for an amazing host and downright lovely time.
I run very hot and my partner gets cold easily, and we were both comfortable the whole time. Lovely and grounding vibe, it even smelled super nice when we arrived which was so nice. (Scent-sensitive guests may wish to make their needs known in advance!) The bathroom was very clean and functional even by the standards of this total camping newbie. Everything felt nice, comfortable, and thoughtful. We never could figure out the lights or wifi, but it was nbd, and I have no doubt that if we'd met Micah at check-in, he would've taught us graciously and effectively :)
P.S. Teddy, the roaming pup, was an absolute joy and a highlight of our stay! Such a smart and polite boy. He totally won the heart of my partner who is not generally a dog person!

Weekend Trip to Camp Squish Airstream - Joshua Tree
Check in and check out we’re a breeze! Cas and Brielle were very responsive to our needs (a can opener haha!) and the property was beautiful! The air stream was clean and very cozy. Our stay was very relaxing, and very reasonably priced. Just a hop, skip, and a jump to Joshua Tree NP, and easily accessible.

Group trip
Camp Squish is the cutest little getaway. I brought my family of 4 (plus dog) to go watch the Perseid meteor shower. Despite the clouds rolling through blocking our view, the accommodations were very comfortable, clean, and cozy. We stayed up most of the night on the deck area as we stargazed. When we finally went to bed, we all slept comfortably. The setup is super cute and thoughtful, details that are equivalent to an elegant upgrade at a luxurious hotel but with an RV rental. We've rented RVs before, and Camp Squish is THE best by far. I wish our stay could have been longer and hope we have another opportunity to stay again. THANK YOU, Cas & Brielle!

We had a wonderful time! My son loved that we stayed in the Airstream. So did I, it made my son's first "camping trup" so easy. The animals were all so cute and some were very sweet and cuddly! Thankful for the ac! I'm so glad we decided on this little trip. Now I want an alpaca 😆
