Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. To the northeast are views of near 11K foot snowy peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio, with rolling hills of De Luz and Fallbrook in the foreground.

Even though Deep Creek has never had any known cases of amoeba outbreaks, be advised that the warm waters around hot springs can carry a sometimes fatal amoeba.
*Although children are permitted at most sites on the property (children are not permitted at the cabin or spring pool sites), we do not recommend bringing them due to occasional nudity that may be seen in the area and the degree of difficulty for the hike. In order to be prepared with the correct gear to make the hike to the hot springs and know the USFS rules that apply to the area, please educate yourself before coming by visiting the USFS website page for the Deep Creek area. The Deep Creek Hot Springs Campground is part of the historic Bowen Ranch property that was homesteaded in 1924 and has been the camping and parking area for the Deep Creek Hot Springs for nearly a century. The Feather River Hot Springs offers you a stunning and serene mountain getaway. We are located on State Highway 70 along the East Branch of the North Fork of the Feather River in the canyon. There are 5 tent sites and 5 RV sites, as well as 3 cabins available for your stay. All very close to the river. Overnight stays include the use of a natural sulphur hot springs beside the Feather River. It is small, accommodating six persons max at one time. Guests are able to book a private reservation for two or more for $120. Young children are not allowed in or at the Springs, must be teens and up. There is a sign up board for shared soaks at check in cabin. The Springs are a short walk from the RV sites and camping. There are three cabins that sleep max of two adults. Pets are not allowed. They are nonsmoking cabins. The cabins are very close to one another. There is a shared outdoor cooking area. Five tent sites of different sizes are all along the river. Five RV sites as well to accommodate from small trailers to 40’ . Please check accommodations size before booking. Pets are welcome in RV and camping areas but must be on a leash at all times. Limit one pet per site. Aggressive dogs or excessive barking is not permitted and you will be asked to leave. Pets are not allowed down at the tubs. Campfires are by request, weather permitting. Quiet time is from 10pm to 9am. Excessively loud music not allowed. This is a very small resort, a mutual respect for al guests and the property is a top priority. This has been my home for over 15 years, it’s not a facility. Quaint and rustic but often referred to as magical. Not just a stopover on your way to somewhere else but hopefully a destination that you will want to return to again and again. Spring, summer or fall there’s always something new to experience on the Feather River!

We offer toilets, showers, trash disposal, potable water and more depending on the site you chose. Leashed pets 40 pounds or less are allowed as well.
Enjoy biking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, paddling, climbing, swimming, whitewater rafting, and wildlife watching all nearby, or on site.

Bridgeport Reservoir is a lake at the lower end of Bridgeport Valley in Mono County, California. Its earth-filled dam was constructed in 1923 by the Walker River Irrigation District, along the East Walker River. The campground and marina was built I-don't-know-how-long ago, but it sure is nice!
About Us: Welcome to Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground. Join us for the classic camping and fishing experience with unique views of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Within the Toiyabe National Forest, Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground is conveniently located near two distinct hot spring areas. A true angler's paradise, the Reservoir has excellent trout fishing from spring through fall and is close by to multiple rivers for incredible fly fishing. A 35 minute drive on highway 120 will take you to the Tioga Pass Gate of Yosemite National Park. This gate is a great start to several different areas inside of the park that you may want to visit beyond that gate. Off-road enthusiasts would not have enough time in one visit to explore all of the 4x4 trails, abandoned mines, and sites in the area as well as the famous trail that brings you right to the Bodie Ghost Town.
Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal.
Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

Splitrock Farm and Retreat started in January 2021 after a global search of a place to set roots, live off the land, and create an amazing place for recreation, relaxation, and rejuvenation.
Splitrock was part of a 160-acre avocado farm that prospered from 1970 to 2017, generating over 1million pounds of avocados per year until the previous owners switched off the water in 2017. Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers.
Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. Mixed within the avocado groves are several ancient groves and solitary trees that include 150+ foot tall pines, hundreds of old oaks, and soaring palms. Freckled throughout the hillsides are thousands of humongous granite boulders, offering a prehistoric feel to the landscape. Above all, Splitrock offers unrivaled views. Over 40 miles of coastline includes views to Point Loma, the Carlsbad power station, and the Pendleton Hospital. The Feather River Hot Springs offers you a stunning and serene mountain getaway. We are located on State Highway 70 along the East Branch of the North Fork of the Feather River in the canyon. There are 5 tent sites and 5 RV sites, as well as 3 cabins available for your stay. All very close to the river. Overnight stays include the use of a natural sulphur hot springs beside the Feather River. It is small, accommodating six persons max at one time. Guests are able to book a private reservation for two or more for $120. Young children are not allowed in or at the Springs, must be teens and up. There is a sign up board for shared soaks at check in cabin. The Springs are a short walk from the RV sites and camping. There are three cabins that sleep max of two adults. Pets are not allowed. They are nonsmoking cabins. The cabins are very close to one another. There is a shared outdoor cooking area. Five tent sites of different sizes are all along the river. Five RV sites as well to accommodate from small trailers to 40’ . Please check accommodations size before booking. Pets are welcome in RV and camping areas but must be on a leash at all times. Limit one pet per site. Aggressive dogs or excessive barking is not permitted and you will be asked to leave. Pets are not allowed down at the tubs. Campfires are by request, weather permitting. Quiet time is from 10pm to 9am. Excessively loud music not allowed. This is a very small resort, a mutual respect for al guests and the property is a top priority. This has been my home for over 15 years, it’s not a facility. Quaint and rustic but often referred to as magical. Not just a stopover on your way to somewhere else but hopefully a destination that you will want to return to again and again. Spring, summer or fall there’s always something new to experience on the Feather River!

Bridgeport Reservoir is a lake at the lower end of Bridgeport Valley in Mono County, California. Its earth-filled dam was constructed in 1923 by the Walker River Irrigation District, along the East Walker River. The campground and marina was built I-don't-know-how-long ago, but it sure is nice!
About Us: Welcome to Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground. Join us for the classic camping and fishing experience with unique views of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Within the Toiyabe National Forest, Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground is conveniently located near two distinct hot spring areas. A true angler's paradise, the Reservoir has excellent trout fishing from spring through fall and is close by to multiple rivers for incredible fly fishing. A 35 minute drive on highway 120 will take you to the Tioga Pass Gate of Yosemite National Park. This gate is a great start to several different areas inside of the park that you may want to visit beyond that gate. Off-road enthusiasts would not have enough time in one visit to explore all of the 4x4 trails, abandoned mines, and sites in the area as well as the famous trail that brings you right to the Bodie Ghost Town.
Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal.
Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

Nestled away just off of Interstate 5, our stunning park features 33 spacious RV sites, and a large open field for those wanting to pitch a tent, play some games or to let your children and dogs frolic in the sunshine. Wonderland is surrounded by a forest with a relaxing stream running alongside it. We have 30 amp and 50 amp electrical hookups available, water, sewer, WIFI and cable, ensuring a comfortable stay. Additionally, our laundry facility, showers and bathrooms are available 24 hours a day for your convenience. Come discover the beauty of Wonderland!

In addition to Redding and Shasta, there are several attractions that should be on your itinerary while in the region. The mountain hamlet of Dunsmuir, home of top fly-fishing streams, a railroad museum, and the nearby Castle Crags State Park. Farther away but worth the drive, especially in the warmer months, is Whiskeytown Lake, a 3,000 surface-acre reservoir of crystal-clear water that’s perfect for sailing, kayaking, fishing, and windsurfing. If you prefer to stay dry, admire it from the shore and hike to the 220-foot Whiskeytown Falls. A drive to the east are the fascinating steam vents, mud pots, fumaroles, and Sulphur Works of Lassen Volcanic National Park.

When we pulled into Heartwood, my daughter was asleep in her car seat, so I stayed seated while my wife wandered around the misty grounds. She came back 10 minutes later and said “this place is really special.” She knew right away how much love and effort Tim and Kamoor have put into this place. Heartwood is special. From the tiny details (like great body wash) to the vast, open meadows that demand a good frolick, it continued to exceed all of our expectations. It’s inspiring, magical and full of thoughtful amenities. Highly recommend for families with young kids. Sit by the fire and let the littles run feral around this beautiful spot.

I had a good time camping here! The Oak site was in a nice quiet spot and very level for a tent. The bathrooms were very nice and I loved the kitchen sink area to wash dishes. Good spot for camping with a dog and easy access into town.

Amazing spot creating a vibrant, nomadic community. It’s an otherworldly creation. Loved the pool and hot tub and the common areas. Amazing shower. Great location, but roads can be a bit tricky. Make sure you confirm your exact spot before arrival, especially in the dark. Luckily everyone we met was helpful and passed it on to others. Can’t wait to return.

It was relaxing and serene. There were other campsites and campers, but were far apart from each other ! Very Peaceful & Serene !
Very comfortable - like camping off grid without the worry of anything happening - only heard a couple coyotes in the distance !
Bring water, Food, and cooking essentials- there is 1 bathroom 1/4 mile from rock bottom
I’m self contained so no worries !
Weather was great ! Lots of hiking trails !

Nice place to stay. Beautiful spot on the top of a pretty large hill, road was pretty but definitely a lot of sharp turns. Higher elevation so a bit cooler than down at sea level.

Heartwood was a magical place to visit. Amazing hosts, facilities and natural surroundings. It was pouring one night/ following day and we really appreciated the heated common room with kettle and game table. We also liked that other campers were friendly and quiet but also supportive and welcoming of polite (but adventurous) kiddos. Will definitely be back!

As other reviews suggest, this place is really unique. So many special touches. We enjoyed the hospitality, all the forethought details to make stay great, appreciate the design of the structures and artwork. Internet signal was strong enough to make this a nice personal work retreat too.

We had an amazing time tent camping at the Horizons site. The views were amazing, beautiful sunrise and star gazing at night . We were traveling with teens (16 and 14 yr old) thankfully we had spotty cell service which gave them time to explore the trails and climb the big rocks. The directions to our site were clear . The bathrooms were clean and it was only a short 5min walk from our site. We will definitely be back .

Tao’s property was a literal dream. Easy enough to get to from the highway but tucked back enough to feel completely remote and private. I spent the evening swimming and hot tubbing under the stars with views of the mountains and Joshua Tree’s in by far the most incredible pool and jacuzzi set up I have ever been in. Vanarchy 1 was one of my favorite places to date. I am already planning my return back! They also have water, a communal kitchen, towels, and compost toilets. Its literally perfect and I cant wait to return. Also close to so many attractions (Joshua Tree, Yucca Valley, Palm Springs, ect) Thanks so much for sharing your space!

Check in was super easy. We got there right before the office closed and they kindly directed us to our site. The site itself was clean and well maintained with a picnic table and fire pit. Hook ups for water and electricity were readily available (the 30A plug was a little wonky but we got it to work). The overall campground was lovely, nestled among the trees on the mountain. There was a nice play area for kids with a small playground structure and games. The pool looked awesome but it was a little too cold to get in it. We did the hike up Saddle Mountain our last morning and were rewarded with gorgeous views of the valley after 2 miles up. The location is close to Monterey if you plan to do activities there or Carmel. Highly recommend staying here!

I rarely leave reviews anymore (feedback fatigue), but this place is so wonderful I'm compelled to. It's such a beautiful site, so well crafted and thoughtfully designed. Each campsite and cabin had plenty of personal space (each with its own beautifully carved picnic bench), the bathrooms and showers so pleasant and well maintained, with nice smelling soap. The outdoor kitchen was being renovated when we were there but it's clearly going to be stunning. And don't miss the gorgeous outdoor shower within the stump of an old redwood! The hosts were relaxed and kind and it is clearly a labor of love. Will be returning!

The place was super cool! Awesome that it’s really not far out of town and you still get a good camping vibe. Trex creek was very cool but the useable space is very limited. So keep that in mind if you book it. Neat spot though! Also, the goats, dogs, and wildlife are very noisy. So if that bothers you be aware. All in all a great trip for us though. Easy to get into, nice little camp shop if you need it. Decent bathroom. Will definitely go back and try out a larger campsite too!

What a treat! We stopped here on our way from Berkeley to Joshua Tree (there are very few camping options mid way), and we were pleasantly surprised. Our 8 year old and 6 year old LOVED feeding the llamas and alpacas. In fact, it was one of their highlights of their Spring Break. For campers (we were in our van), there is a hammock, picnic table, fire put and grill.

The majestic groves scattered across Redwood National & State Parks are an excellent choice for first-timers. Further south, from Eureka to Mendocino and eventually San Francisco, you’ll find a string of private and state park campgrounds tucked along rugged coastlines marked by bluffs, coves, dunes, and tidepools.
Central Coast
Stretching from Monterey south to Santa Barbara, the Central Coast scores points for scenery and variety. Plus, it’s a convenient escape from the urban hassles of San Francisco and Los Angeles. Redwoods, waterfalls, and windswept bluffs border Highway 1 in Big Sur, while waves crash beside state parks north of Santa Barbara. SoCal Beaches: Los Angeles to San Diego
The golden beaches of Southern California are the stuff of lazy days and pop songs. And fantastic camping for those inclined. The best campsites line-up beside the coast between Newport Beach and Dana Point in Orange County, with a few more perched on coastal bluffs north of San Diego. Not surprisingly, these oceanfront sites fill fast, so book early.
Sierra Nevada Mountains
Granite domes and lush Alpine meadows border campgrounds in Yosemite National Park, while enormous sequoias are the draw in Kings Canyon and Sequoia national parks. Campgrounds beside alpine lakes and the sparkling blue waters of Lake Tahoe are always postcard-pretty.
Southern Deserts
For surreal sunsets, striking rock formations, restless sand dunes, and spring wildflowers, head east. Nine campgrounds and plenty more right outside await at Death Valley National Park, home to the lowest spot in the U.S. Joshua trees and picturesque boulders keep Hipcampers happy at Joshua Tree National Park while Anza-Borrego Desert State Park serves up fantastic desert hiking outside San Diego. High season is late fall through spring, when temperatures are pleasant.
