Lone Juniper Ranch

The cabin itself was absolutely delightful — cozy, peaceful, thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed, and directly across from a sweet little group of alpacas. The space and scenery felt like an excellent value for the price, and my girls absolutely loved our stay. We did add on a few extras (carrots for the animals, firewood, and a sauna visit), and while we enjoyed each of these, the communication around them felt a bit unclear. I had to reach out multiple times to coordinate, and we received less firewood than expected close to dark. The sauna was also not ready at our scheduled time, and we weren’t given clear parking instructions — which led to some confusion upon arrival. None of this ruined our stay, but it did make the add-on experience more stressful than anticipated. Overall, the cabin and location were wonderful, and with clearer communication around the extras, this would easily be a five-star stay.

The Canyon Bobcat

A surprise visit with Camels!

The Alpaca

This is a beautiful spot, the animals are super special, and the cabin was cute and clean. But we experienced negative interactions with the host as well as other campers. Also they were not always responsive, directions to the ranch and instructions at the cabin were incomplete. Overall did not feel welcome, and thought it was expensive.

We drive from Northern California to Southern California and back to nice to have a fun stop along the way. He had fun with all the animals, and camping under the stars. My husband loved the location and was happy the dog could run free.

It’s a beautiful ranch with such a great atmosphere. Our hosts were very accommodating and the animals were absolutely amazing. The eggs were delivered by their son I think and it was such a wholesome experience. I already miss the view and the air there I would definitely come back(:

Unusual, Fun Getaway!

We had a great trip to the Dromedary House. Spent three peaceful days enjoying the exotic animals and scenic views. I loved the fire pit and BBQ area. It was perfect. The hosts were very responsive but not intrusive. We would definitely go again.

So Bad, I Had to Write a Review

This is the first negative review I’ve ever written for any site or rental and unfortunately, it’s well deserved. Our campsite was placed right next to a porta potty that clearly hadn’t been emptied in months. In the summer heat, with no shade, the smell of human waste was absolutely rancid and inescapable. Flies swarmed our area, and the odor was so intense that our kids gagged every time they tried to use the restroom. Eventually, we had to stop using it altogether and drive down the road just to access a bathroom that felt even remotely sanitary. We spent most of our time away from the site because the stench was inescapable. Nighttime was the only somewhat bearable part. We would never recommend this location to anyone. The conditions were unacceptable and completely soured our experience.

Hotel with a pulse

This a "hotel" with a pulse. My wife and I (and our Rottweiler, Rami) loved seeing the horses, camels, donkeys peacocks, alpacas etc. It was super low key and the views are wonderful with views from every angle....although next to I-5 you don't hear road noise you are basically on the top of a mountain.. It was a great twist from city life....the room we had was awesome and perfect for a couple although it has bunk beds and can sleep 3 although I think this house can sleep more. If my travels take me through so cal I will definitely stay again, but likely stay longer to do a hike, bike and get more immersed with geographical feel. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels all around the world and would place this location in the top 10 ranked on convenience, geographical presence, uniqueness and appeal.

Our family had the best time at Lone Juniper Ranch. The cabin was well-equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed the fire pit and playground area. The kids loved seeing all the animals up close. The limited interaction we had with Marlin and his family was pleasant and prompt. I only wish the cabin doors had screens to keep the doors open and the bugs out. Minor inconvenience! We will absolutely stay here again!

Very cute cabin. My girls loved the triple bunk beds. The heating and cooling AC worked perfect. They had condiments, dressings and cooking oil, all the basics. The best past was of course the animals, we all had fun feeding them. The owners were very responsive, even late at night.

We had the best time here and can't wait to come back! If you have a trailer you should familiarize yourself with how to tow on steep, windy, dirt roads but it's absolutely worth it. We can't wait to return.

Great weekend destination from LA

This place is a great outdoorsy experience for LA folks to have and spend some time visiting livestock, within an hour from the city. We stayed in a small cabin, which was well equipped with a bed, kitchen with a microwave and fridge, a bath, with shower, and nice extra amenities like a hammock, a well equipped barbecue on a fire pit. The animals were definitely the highlight, and we purchased a bucket of carrots from the owner so that we could feed the donkeys, alpacas, and camels. We also paid extra to use the sauna, which was surprisingly hot and was very relaxing. Highly recommended!

Hidden gem in Gorman

We stayed at the cabins before but this was our first time staying at the campsite with full hookups. Just like before, we absolutely loved Lone Juniper Ranch and that’s why we keep coming back. It’s very safe for all kinds of travelers. Our doggos enjoyed running up and down hills. There’s something special this trip, we were so excited to see the 3 weeks old baby alpaca! 🦙 so adorable and friendly! Can’t wait to see the baby donkeys!
