Weekend Trip to Loomerland

We had a lot of fun at this location. Directions were clear and it was easy to find. We were greeted by the camp hosts and even friendlier Dog who helped us set up camp. The tent spot was a little sloped but otherwise plenty of space to spread out. Our kids had a lot of fun with the animals. Goats, dogs, cats, bunnies, ducks, chickens and a pig! We loved experiencing farm life for the weekend.

3 nights at Hideout Mountain Lodge

I had the pleasure of discovering Hideout Mountain Lodge during a break between work assignments, and it turned out to be such a delightful getaway. I was impressed by the variety of accommodation options available, from camping spots to RV and cabin rentals, all with incredibly scenic views. Initially, I had planned to camp for my entire stay. However, the weather took an unexpected turn with cold temperatures and rain on my last night. The lodge staff were exceptionally kind and offered me a cabin at a discounted rate, which I truly appreciated. I'm already looking forward to a future visit to Hideout Mountain Lodge and hope to bring along some friends and/or family next time to share the experience.

Great weekend at the hideout! We stayed at campsite number one. Francisco, our camp host was there when we checked in we were able to back into the spot without any issues. There is definitely a grade so when leveling your trailer bring extra leveling blocks for height. We went down to Josie’s for lunch on Saturday and enjoyed some music and a delicious tri-tip sandwich. Hiking nearby is fantastic as well. Highly recommend!

Relaxing and peaceful camping trip. Was greeted by Allie upon arriving which was pleasant. I locked myself out of my car and she offered to help me. Even though that happened I still had an amazing time! Thank you Allie!!

2 nights at Splitrock Farm and Retreat

What a great property!! We were the only campers that stayed at the Oaks Grove community during our mid week stay, the dogs loved the freedom. We hiked around the property seeing the unique private campsites, domes, the “rainforest “ and of course the pigs and goats. This is a great location for group meetups or a private getaway. We’ll be back.

We had a wonderful stay at the Granite Mountain Black Cedar glamping cabin! It was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway—comfortable bed, a well-stocked outdoor kitchenette (as well as indoor mini fridge), and peaceful surroundings. It truly felt like a perfect blend of nature and comfort. Ken has gone above and beyond providing all the camp essentials you could need such as flash lights, lantern, cooking utensils, outdoor chairs and a table with benches to enjoy outdoor meals! There is even a rain shower and private restroom. I will definitely be staying again. One highlight stop of the trip was visiting the nearby Elim Hot Springs, only 4 minutes away! Highly recommend checking it out while you’re in the area for a rejuvenating soak.

I recently had the most incredible camping experience, and I have to share my thoughts! From the moment I arrived, the hosts Richard and Carlotta made me feel incredibly welcome and attended to every need we had. The location itself was breathtaking, with places to hike, and a small river. This is hands down the best place I've ever camped, and I can't wait to return!

This was a very scenic site. Gorgeous valley with green hills. There are a couple trails with amazing views. Philip was very hospitable and good with communication. For those of you that are more modest it is an outdoor bucket for bathrooms. The campsites make you feel isolated with free space around you. Definitely recommend

We LOVED the ranch! The spot (11) was absolutely beautiful, there was a grill and two picnic tables provided and a fire pit too! We had trees and privacy and a great view of horses. Weekend Trip to Granite Mountain

We had a great stay in the A frame and Ken is a fantastic host! The cabin is adorable, cozy and bed very comfortable. The site is very well equipped and made cooking dinner there fun. Beautiful views, enjoyed sitting by the fire at night. Toilet and shower easy to use and super clean. We had a great time and highly recommend!

We have great access to nearby points of interest including Borrego Springs which is 20 miles away, Anza Borrego State Park which is adjacent to Julian at 40 miles away, Palomar observatory which is 40 miles away and Cuyamaca Lake which is fantastic for fishing only 45 miles away. If you need to pop into town for any supplies or services you can access Borrego Springs (20 miles away), Julian (40 miles away), Ramona (45 miles away), and Temecula (50 miles away). We have 3 horseshoe pits and 9 frisbee golf baskets for recreation onsite and we have incredible dark skies for excellent stargazing. You may see many different forms of wildlife including mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, bob cats, racoons, badgers, and rattle snakes. You will see many rabbits, squirrels and tons of birds of all kinds! We are really the perfect location for those who love the outdoors! Owners live on site but we like to greet, meet, and then leave you to your stay! Please reach out if you have questions or concerns though. About the listing Our listing is for tents, vans and truck campers, trailers, or RV’s and we can accommodate rigs up to 25ft in length. A few of our 5 sites are pull through sites on dirt and may require some leveling. All sites are dry camping only as we do not have any hookups, though there are two bathrooms and water available in a centralized area on the property. You can expect High desert and scrub brush environments. Dutchman Canyon

This 150 acre slice of heaven contains an isolated private ephemeral stream that has run the last two years from January to July. Located down a narrow bumpy dirt road off of Highway 94 Dutchman Canyon is at 1300 feet above sea level, The temperature in Dulzura remains nice year round. There are many Oaks, Sycamores, Eucylptus, Pepper and Pine Trees on the property. The fire road has been cleared to the top of the grade and a slight ocean view is available down the Otay Valley Road view line for hikers or mountain bike enthusiasts. A hiking trail has also been cleared to a stand of Eucylptus trees on the hillside with a pond area at their base on the west facing slope. The Dulzura winery is located across the valley and we are only 1/8 mile from the General Store of Dulzura. The Tecate Border crossing to Mexico is 10 miles south of the property. Located a few miles west of Deer Valley we have deer in the canyon year round looking for fresh water from the ephemeral stream. A 19th century concrete cistern holds water year round at one location in the stream bed. Please do not burn the dead oak firewood from the property.

There is a chorus of frogs throughout the spring nights, and crickets year round! It's a very short walk to the neighborhood park- equipped with several types of playground equipment and public creek access, or a five minute drive to a Crestridge Ecological Reserve containing multiple trails. We have three campsites and a cabin on about an acre of land. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. There are also a couple of hammocks available. In addition, our SHARED amenities include an outdoor kitchen that includes a sink with hot water, 2 mini fridges,(full at times, extra coolers available) coffee maker, a two burner stove, a griddle, a toaster oven, blender, tea kettle, and a few pans, plates, bowls, cups, and utensils. Also here to SHARE is a Propane fire pit and BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. We are continuously making improvements. Fun Fact: Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the world's largest honey producer! Today there are just a few bees in the area.

And to clarify due to someone asking! We don’t want people inside the animals pins just hanging out. We just don’t want anyone to get hurt but if you have a dog, you will pass through the donkey pin to the dog pin. The gate closes and separates the dog area from the donkeys and horse. It need to be open when your down because they sleep in there. They are sweet and have never kicked or bit anyone and if you have a dog you get a full tour. All of our guests with dogs have had no issues at all! If your dogs are large animal friendly then we are good with them being off leash!! We love dogs! Just know that the entrance gate opens and closes as we and our guests come and go at our home. Learn more about this site: This campsite is extremely private and serene with beautiful epic views and a wide open feel. The site is located most of the way up a small mountain but at the base of a larger one if you want to hike up to the top for even better views. You can also hike down and around to explore more of the surrounding nature preserve (over 3,000 acres completely engulfing our 20 acre property), which includes a seasonal creek, granite boulders, and miles of hiking trails. You will find wild sage and buckwheat shrubs growing all over the property, as well as vibrant seasonal wildflowers. The campsite is set far back from roads so it is very peaceful and quiet and allows you to feel free to enjoy yourselves without worrying much about noise. The large flat pad is spacious and should be able to accommodate any sized camper/trailer/RV. There is fresh potable mountain spring water and a septic hookup available at the site. There is currently no water hookup for RV’s and there is no restroom facility (we are planning to install a composting or pit toilet soon). Please come fully equipped with a Luggable Loo or something similar. Access to the site is on a maintained dirt road with cutouts for water run off. 4WD is not necessary. Please be prepared though, the road in has some narrow, hilly, curvy stretches. It could appear challenging or intimidating to people with larger rigs. If you have a class A motorhome and are hoping to visit, please message me first and let me know and we can discuss whether the road in will work for you. We are currently in the process of beautifying the area and will post more updated photos soon of the actual site. *Note: Our solar pump went out so the outdoor shower is not currently functional. Each Boarding Corral has walking space, shaded corners, automated water feeders, soft dirt, partially sheltered sides and is in close proximity to a round pen, a small arena (turnout) and is encompassed by a small walking track. No two corrals are close enough to each other for the horses to interact, reducing the likelyhood of mishap from a neighbor. Each Weekender Corral comes equipped with the same as the above, excepting only the partially sheltered side panels, and are right next to where you will be parking your trailer or camper.
