Dear Guests, As the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold, we are taking all precautionary measures with respect to protecting common areas in the camp.  All common facilities, bathroom, kitchen area, bar area, etc. are being cleaned and disinfected constantly.  Our tent cabins are being disinfected in between each check-in and check-out. At this time we do not require masks and do not inspect vaccine cards.  You may self certify that you have received your vaccine by not wearing a mask or continue to do so, if you wish. _____________________________________ The Desert Rose Collective is a work in progress!  This unique property is being transformed into a truly 'hip' camp.  It features a sun shade structure with a bar, an outdoor kitchen, a semi-outdoor bathroom, plenty of seating and shaded areas to relax and enjoy the fabulous views.  Both days and nights are amazing from the location of this unforgettable property in the canyon. Check out additional information under our Tent Cabin, Camping, and RV listings. We look forward to your booking and to meeting you at The Desert Rose Collective!

Site 1 - Desert Rose Campsites
Great location and campground
Enjoyed tent camping at the Desert Rose campground for Memorial Day weekend. We were able to find the campground no problem with the help of Rosemarie’s detailed directions. We stayed on site 1, which is the closest site to the communal area and porta-potty. The campground looked just like depicted in the photos and we were greeted by Andrew, who directed us to our campsite. Campsites were a bit small, though there were small trees dividing the sites, and the sites were not labeled (you must contact Rosemarie to find your site). Also there are no fire pits and picnic tables at individual sites. There is a communal fire pit and picnic tables in the common area. I really appreciated the communal kitchen, as it made it a lot easier for food prep, cooking on the communal stove, storing perishable food in the on-site fridge instead of in cooler with melting ice, and washing dishes in the sink. Rosemarie was really nice and laid back. The campground is a great location, just a short 20 minute drive to Desert Hot Springs, Yucca Valley 15 minute drive, and 25 minute drive to Joshua Tree National Park visitor center. Overall I highly recommend this campground!

We had a great time at Rosemarie's camp! She was helpful in getting set up and we enjoyed meeting other campers at mealtimes and around the campfire at night. It was easy to find with her directions. I would definitely return again.

Chillin’ in the desert
What a unique, chill camping experience! So many amenities that made the weekend easier. AND while other parts of the area were windy, thankfully this little patch of desert heaven was not.

Not private but great views
We didn’t realize until we arrived that we were supposed to message the host to arrange for someone to meet us to walk us to our site. So we messaged them upon arrival, about an hour before sunset. We waited about 30 minutes before we spoke to another guest who recommended just finding a campsite. As we were setting up our tent, a gentleman came and checked us in and took our pet fee. Once we had finished staking our tent and we’re starting to unpack into it, he came back and said that the host was mad at him and we had to move sites. Not a great start. Our new site was right next to other tents, which seemed silly when so much campground wasn’t in use. We only stayed one night and there was plenty open when we left. We had an early morning the next day, so we didn’t use much of the amenities. The sink worked great for our needs. We probably wouldn’t have booked had we realized there was a birthday party going on at the same time. They turned their music off by 10 PM, but it wasn’t the quiet and secluded experience advertised. Overall, a nice site, just different than what was described. Make to message them ahead of time for smooth check in.

Lovely location and Rosemarie was friendly and easy going. Relaxed, communal setting. We booked because the site appeared on Hipcamp to have electrity and water included, so my only criticism is that Hipcamp catches out folk on the move by hiding details in fine print.

Thank you Rosemarie for everything.
The campsites at Desert Rose Collective are beautifully& set up and easy to find . The main community kitchen is clean fully equipped with a propane grill , refrigerator/freezer and drink water are pluses. running hot and old water. Then the shower and compost toilet area really add to the outdoor experience of the Mojave Desert high chaparral. Rosemarie is well versed with the area. I’ve met interesting wonderful people traveling on my own retired. Desert Rose Collective has become my base camp in exploring here. I love the peace and joy that washes over me every time I’m here. Thank you Rosemarie gir being such a super host ❤️🙏 Maria

Great Place to Camp
We loved our experience and would happily return. Everything was clean and welcoming. There is plenty of space for guests to spread out as well as accommodate large groups. The campsite was fairly level so you could set up a tent anywhere at your site. They walk around every so often and are available by phone, so if you need something they are easy to get in touch with. Definitely check out Rosemarie’s if nearby.

Solo Traveler Approved
Staying here was just the escape I was looking for. The tent was cozy, the bed was comfortable and the heating pad for the cool nights was perfect. As a solo traveler, I was thoroughly impressed with the staff on site and Rosemarie. The grounds were quiet, eclectic and most of all, I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. I really enjoyed my experience and would recommend to a friend with no hesitations!

The campsite was great! The location was good and close to Joshua Tree. The skies were not as dark as they were in Joshua Tree but still dark enough to do some stargazing. The kitchen area was a huge plus and everything there was clean! Rosemarie was great with communication and Brian was very nice as well. Overall completely recommend and I would stay again!

Tranquil Magical Place
I will be returning again as this is my second stay with Rosemarie here at Dessert Rose Collective HipCamp. Tent cabin 1 is the ticket for me. The room is very spacious and cozy. The communal kitchen is fun because you can meet other campers from far away place. My friend ended up not coming but I can anyway and have felt perfectly safe. Respecting the beautiful high chaparral is key. I woke in the morning after a well rested night to a symphony of quail creating their perfect Sonata! This has been a life changing experience for me here. I would urge anyone who loves camping out in the desert to come here and enjoy this tranquil magical place.

A little slice of heaven in the Morongo basin! Rose is a wonderful host, she is available if you need her but is never intrusive, allowing you to feel a sense of privacy. The experience is somewhere in between primitive camping and Glamping. We have a pop up tent trailer and she picked the perfect spot for us. The community areas provide a fun eclectic mix of found and repurposed items. The composting toilet area is whimsical and there’s a shower and kitchen area with all cooking utensils pots pans etc available. Rose is constantly working on the space, building and modifying, adding and growing. We can’t wait to return and see what’s new! It was one of the most relaxing vacations we’ve ever had. The views are gorgeous in every direction. Yes, you can see and hear highway 62 but it somehow disappears as you gaze across the valley. It’s really quiet at night and over a 7 day stay we were alone several nights which made it feel even more remote than it was. This was our first Hip Camp experience, we stumbled upon it when we couldn’t get into any nearby campgrounds and we are now converts! Highly recommended, you will be grateful you met these warm and welcoming people and lived in the desert like a local :)

Coyote Flats - Tent Cabin #1
Great place. Simple, but everything is done with taste. All you need for camping is there, and more. A super-clean and nice restroom, kitchen with dish-ware and large stove and fridge, lots of seating areas, electricity supply and very good illumination, trash sorting and recycling, hot water and open roof shower (could be better furnished though). On top of that, the place is surrounded by nature with unbelievable bird singing in the morning, but yet it is just a 5 minute drive from grocery stores and coffee shops, and cell phone coverage enough to have video conferences. The preset tent is pricey, but it is almost like a hotel room, and it has a mattress with heating - very handy on cold high desert evenings. Rosemarie is a great host; showed us everything around and was always available to resolve any issues.
