It’s important to us that our guests don’t feel they are renting a tent/RV site or a camper as much as they’re immersing themselves into the outdoor experience. You may just want to sit outside and read for days, enjoy campfires and eat s'mores. For more adventurous, there's a full slate of self-guided recreational activities, such as hiking, kayaking, fishing, ATVing, rock climbing, biking, natural water slides, stand up paddle boards, bird watching, available in the area. We do have modern conveniences such as wifi internet; however, we encourage our guests to “unplug” and immerse in the slow paced life instead. At Paradise Shores, we believe in protecting people, animals and the planet. We make sure that the majority of products we use at our camp is recycled, composted, or re-used. We prefer to use products that are produced in a sustainable way and avoid those that aren't. We are continuously reducing the amount of waste we generate and actively promote recycling of aluminum, plastic, glass, and cardboard. We pack our own recycling and haul it to the nearest recycling facility which is an hour away. We co-opt the drive with other activities to reduce waste. We don’t use individually packaged toiletries or one-use products. We use plant and planet friendly detergent. We're based in a desert. We share our precious water with the entire planet. With only 326 million cubic miles of water on the earth, the decreasing amounts of access to quality fresh water is alarming to us. We monitor how we use water in our day-to-day activities and are constantly working on ways to reduce our consumption of fresh-water resources. We hope you can help us maintain this greener camping! We hope Paradise Shores Camp becomes your home as it is ours. It’s located in one of the most spectacular areas in the world. We’re surrounded on three sides by the high Sierra Nevada Mountains. Yosemite National Park, Tuolumne Meadows, Mono Lake, June Lake, Virginia Lakes, and Twin Lakes, as well as the historic gold-mining town of Bodie, CA are all within a short drive from our place. We're proud to know this area intimately and are excited to share the secret spots with you. The excellent hiking/running trails including the Pacific Crest Trail, thousands of miles of ATV, dirt bike and mountain bike trails are accessible right from our camp or within a short drive from here. The surrounding terrain offers endless activities and unbelievable scenery in remote wilderness settings. Pet Policy All our RV & Tent sites are pet friendly and we allow up to two dogs per reservation for a small fee. We can also accommodate up to two four-legged campers in our pet-friendly Baja or Tatra trailers for a small fee, we ask that they stay off the furniture (beds, sofas etc.) and are not left in the rental unattended. We love dogs, but sadly won’t be able to accommodate heavily shedding pets that aren’t house trained. Additionally, our insurance will not allow "aggressive breeds" that include any mix of: Pit Bull, Rottweiler, Doberman, German Sheppard. Please pick up after your pup and use a leash when at the camp. Thank you in advance for your consideration and help in keeping our camp a mellow and enjoyable place for everyone.

Heart Valley ranch hosts 300+ acres of rolling pasture nestled along the beautiful Jackass Creek. Access to Yosemite via 120 takes 1 hour , Groveland 10 minutes, and Coulterville 5 minutes. You’ll find cows, goats, chickens, llamas and our two beloved livestock dogs on the property. Many pools to cool off in and sweeping sunset views from the highest point on the property. Wondernut Farm

Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Being first and foremost a functional farm, we can't help but offer a somewhat warts-and-all look into everything it takes to be working to our goals. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

Moore Creek Placer Claim

This is one of 3 gold claims I have here in the Yosemite area. This particular site is in one of the nicer areas of the national forest as it is in an area that has not been hit by wildfire recently. There are two camping sites on this claim one is a roundabout with a giant redwood in the center of the circle the other is right off the side of the road with easy access no matter what kind of rig you are driving. As a registered mining claim owner I or anyone with my permission can camp and prospect on the claim for up to 14 days consecutively… I will not be around the area as I live in San Diego and come up about once a month to one of them.. I ask that you leave the property as nice as you found it remember this is a national park and everyone wants to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Weekend Trip to Yosemite Colfax Spring

We camped at Tioga with our truck and trailer. You're on top of the world with 270+ degree views of the dramatic landscape that surrounds. There was enough room for our truck and trailer (about 40' combined), but you'd need good tires and 4WD because the hill up is steep, and the hill down is super steep. The tables are nice, and we enjoyed the meal we cooked up. The top of the hill is even flat enough to get some sports going. This place is great for someone who wants that amazing view, is going on a river trip with Sierra Mac, or who's friends book adjacent sites. This place isn't as good for someone who places a high value on shade or privacy.

Best privately owned campsite I’ve stayed at. People were super friendly and the location is great. Close enough to Groveland for supplies/food/beer and easy drive into Yosemite. Bathhouse is top notch here for a campsite. The ONLY thing that sucked, which the hosts have zero control over, was the wind at this site overnight. Kept me up both nights. So being earplugs or something of the sort.

Nice size campsite for two tents. We stayed in number 7 (Merced) and had a nice amount of privacy. Marty was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful views! We would absolutely stay again.

Really great Hipcamp! The amenities were excellent, including propane showers (they get very hot!), propane fire pits, and a grill. Lily and her groundskeeper were very helpful and communicated with us every step of the way to make sure we had a great trip! We will definitely be back next time we have a group trip and need to rent a large space. Thanks!!

I loved this camp site, we had a clear view of the stars and beautiful sky. There was free wood available and John was very helpful. It's about 36 minutes from the Big oak flat Yosemite entrance & only 25 minutes from Rainbow pool that me and my child really loved and enjoyed. I highly recommend John's land!

2 nights at Nolla A-Frames Near Yosemite

This site is amazing. It's very private and has a remote feel, but was easy to access in our sedan. The views from the A frame are absolutely stunning, and the bedding is super comfy. Cabin 3 does get quite warm in the summer months, so keep that in mind if you're heat sensitive. It was a very easy drive into Yosemite. We reached the valley for within an hour. The restaurants nearby were great, and Rainbow Pools is a super fun spot to take a dip in the south fork of the Tuolumne river. I'm already looking at the calendar to figure out when we can return.

3 nights at Musick Creek Falls

I absolutely ADORED this stunning gem. We went during the week days and it was so quiet and peaceful. The lower falls site was set up with a gazebo over the table which was awesome to have for shade while cooking when the sun was high. There was a sky deck with a little table and chairs to enjoy a little romantic dinner while watching the sunset. The stars were INCREDIBLE. There’s no shortage of trails and pools to explore along the creek and the abundance of wildflowers all around was amazing. We didn’t get a chance to check out shaver lake because we just loved being at camp so much, but we definitely will be back and will be sure to check it out next time. The town was super cute and just a short drive away for supplies runs. I honestly loved the composting toilet/outhouse. Haha. It was private and stayed cool even during the hottest time of day and was impressively clean. Shandie was an amazing host and absolutely wonderful to talk to. She greeted us shortly after we arrived to give us the run down and shopped some wood for us. Any questions we had before/during our visit were promptly answered. You can tell how much time and care they have put into creating this beautiful getaway and I’m so thankful I got to experience it. I cannot recommend it enough and I will absolutely be coming back.. like. A lot. Haha.

5 nights at Red Dragonfly Ranch

Such a great property! We felt right at home from the minute we showed up. The chickens ran down the hill to greet us as soon as we got out of the car, which was a nice surprise! Our fire pit was waiting for us, the string lights were hung all around our site. All we had to do was set up the tent and we were all set. The port-a-potty’s were fresh and clean, I thought the sink with running water was a huge plus! The showers were incredible! Hotter water than I get at my own house lol We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot. We found an amazing breakfast spot just up the road at Priest Station, right on the way to Yosemite. We took the drive to Yosemite every day, it really wasn’t a bad drive. Only about 40 min to the park, and then further to the valley and other sites. I would recommend this ranch to anyone, and can’t wait to go back! Thank you Lily!

This campground is perfect for what we needed. No bear boxes, no crowds of people, and a wonderful view in all directions. I will come back again and again given the opportunity. Hot showers, bathrooms (porta), and an unlimited supply of firewood. The host, John, is a cool dude with stories for every occasion. We enjoyed seeing him and were happy that the caretaker was always around if you needed. The stars at night are beautiful as there is basically no light pollution. I wish I could give a bad review so we could have it all to ourselves, but this place is wonderful, and close enough to Groveland and Yosemite.

Bridgeport Reservoir Campground

Bridgeport Reservoir is a lake at the lower end of Bridgeport Valley in Mono County, California. Its earth-filled dam was constructed in 1923 by the Walker River Irrigation District, along the East Walker River. The campground and marina was built I-don't-know-how-long ago, but it sure is nice! About Us: Welcome to Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground. Join us for the classic camping and fishing experience with unique views of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Within the Toiyabe National Forest, Bridgeport Reservoir Marina and Campground is conveniently located near two distinct hot spring areas. A true angler's paradise, the Reservoir has excellent trout fishing from spring through fall and is close by to multiple rivers for incredible fly fishing. A 35 minute drive on highway 120 will take you to the Tioga Pass Gate of Yosemite National Park. This gate is a great start to several different areas inside of the park that you may want to visit beyond that gate. Off-road enthusiasts would not have enough time in one visit to explore all of the 4x4 trails, abandoned mines, and sites in the area as well as the famous trail that brings you right to the Bodie Ghost Town. Climate and Ecosystem: At 6,400 feet (1,950 meters), this high desert climate has little to moderate tree coverage and gets hot during the days and cool at night. The conditions are much like Joshua Tree National Park or Alabama Hills camping area. During your visit, you will notice many flying insects that resemble mosquitos. These Chironomid are harmless and do not bite. On the contrary, the mosquito presence is very minimal. Swimming in the lake is possible usually between April to July.

Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite. A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We're not far from Wards Ferry Road, Groveland, Lake Don Pedro and other interesting places.

Yosemite Valley smashes into your sightline with a big hello from the Tunnel View parking lot. Soaring Half Dome. Plummeting waterfalls. Forested greenery as far as the eye can see. Is this real life? Elbow-to-elbow crowds quickly confirm its reality, but escaping the valley hordes is easy if you follow one of the many hiking trails leading into the wilds. The Mist Trail, which climbs the Granite Staircase past thundering waterfalls in spring, is especially worthy. Outside the valley, alpine lakes and lush meadows along Tioga Road are the stunning backdrop for High Sierra campsites.

Yosemite cabin rentals

Stay in a traditional or canvas cabin in the heart of this beloved national park. As one of the oldest national parks in the US, Yosemite has been welcoming visitors for generations. While it’s a popular place to camp, those looking for a little comfort may prefer a cabin stay. There are plenty of private cabins in the area as well as hundreds right inside the park. Curry Village offers both traditional cabins as well as heated and unheated canvas tent-cabins that toe the line between cabins and glamp sites. ADA options are available in all three categories. You'll find an additional 69 non-electric canvas cabins at Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, available seasonally, and a mix of 24 canvas-tent cabins and four wood cabins at the remote White Wolf Lodge. A ski hut is also available at Glacier Point, though getting there requires taking a guided 10.5-mile-long cross-country ski trip.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Of the park’s 13 campgrounds, Upper Pines, Lower Pines, North Pines, and Camp 4 campgrounds are in Yosemite Valley.
Reservations are required year-round for all Yosemite Valley campgrounds.
Outside the valley, reserve ahead for summer and fall campsites at Wawona, Hodgdon Meadow, Crane Flat, and half of the sites at Tuolumne Meadows.
Make online reservations up to five months in advance on the 15th day of each month beginning at 7am Pacific. Competition is fierce for campsites between May and September. Don’t dawdle!
Bridalveil Creek, Tamarack Flat, White Wolf, Yosemite Creek, and Porcupine Creek campgrounds are first-come, first-served. These campsites typically fill by noon from April through September.

When to go

Everything is open in summer, but crowds may bum you out, especially in Yosemite Valley. Wildflowers bloom at higher altitudes in summer too. Spring is the best time to see the waterfalls, which are usually surging from snowmelt as temperatures warm, while colorful foliage is a highlight in fall. Tioga Road typically closes in November, reopening in late spring. Glacier Point Road remains groomed and opens up to the Badger Pass Ski Area from mid-December through early April, but the stretch to Glacier Point is closed until spring. Yosemite Valley is also quite pretty in winter after a light snow, and February brings the awe-inspiring Yosemite firefall.

Know before you go

Campers are required by law to store all food overnight inside food lockers, which are found at every campsite. Food includes scented items, canned goods, bottles, and toiletries. Do not store these items in your car or truck overnight.
Although the recreational use of small amounts of marijuana is legal across most of California with certain restrictions, don't possess or partake of cannabis in the federally run park.
Cell service is best in eastern Yosemite Valley. Access is unreliable in Tuolumne Meadows. Free wifi is available at Degnan’s Kitchen in Yosemite Valley.

Wawona Campground

Wawona Campground was a fantastic base for our Yosemite adventure. The campsites are well-maintained and offer good privacy, with plenty of shade. Facilities were clean and easily accessible. Its location by the Merced River is beautiful and peaceful, and it's super convenient for accessing Mariposa Grove. If you're looking for a tranquil and well-equipped campground away from the main crowds, Wawona is an excellent choice.

Yosemite

One of the best national parks we've ever visited—absolutely breathtaking views and scenic drives around every corner. We parked at Curry Village and hiked up to Vernal and Nevada Falls—an unforgettable experience. The Merced River was running a little low during our visit, so rentals weren’t available, but we saw people bringing their own tubes and still floating the river. If you’re thinking of visiting, do it—you won’t regret it. Highly recommend!

Well worth the visit. Even though I camped in Groveland (about 1.5 hrs to Yosemite Valley) was well worth the drive in over 3 days. Yosemite Valley was easy to get around using the shuttle service. Traveled with my dog and was so nice walking him along the bike paths. Highly recommend driving up to Glacier Point- stunning views from above of Yosemite Valley. Returned to the valley with stop at Bridal Veil falls and tunnel view. Ended my stay driving across the park exiting at Lee Vining.
