Jim delivered a beautiful experience with all the described camp site amenities. The extra touch of little lights on the canopy would have been very nice for the later evenings but I couldn’t figure how to turn on despite asking Jim for instructions.

The pop-up shelter and Adirondack chairs made the site comfortable. The other site( #1) was in use but the terrain blocks line of sight and other campers were discreet in their presence.

We loved Site #2 for the 2 nights we spent exploring the area around Hetch Hetchy Reservoir/Carlon Falls with our almost-2-year-old. It fit our Ford e150 converted van nicely, it had a shelter, comfy chairs, a solar shower, hammock, water, and a port-a-potty - it was glamping! The best part was the ability to have a campfire, that made the trip all the more special. It is situated along 120 and you can hear cars, obviously, but it didn't bother us - you're actually set further back than you are at other places/campgrounds in similar areas.

Great place to camp. The set up was awesome. Awesome hot shower set up. We stayed one night so we didn’t get to enjoy the hammock. It’s right off a highway right across from a gas station. So having access to things we need was awesome. It’s not too close to the highway that we are exposed but not too far into the woods. It’s 10 minutes from the Yosemite entrence.

Easy access from the road on the way to Yosemite. There’s a convenient store just across the road as well.
The campsite was nicely groomed with an available campfire. The Porta potty and outdoor shower was a nice touch to the outdoor space.

Camp 2 was great, 5 miles to west entrance with a gas station walking distance for extras. Very clean and set up with sunshade, chairs, picnic table and sun shade. It was really quiet at night.

Great site! We stayed in site #1 which is slightly bigger. The lights were a nice touch, the water in the shower was hot, and the campsite was clean and well kept. We didn’t get to enjoy the fire pit since we only stayed one night but I’m sure it would have been lovely. Extremely close to Yosemite’s entrance. We added on the tent set up and Jim was very accommodating.
Keep in mind the site is right off the main highway so the traffic can be heard throughout the whole night but, other than that, very cozy setup.

10/10 would recommend and would stay here again.
Super convenient location, just 10 min outside of Yosemite’s entrance.
Jim’s campsite is thoughtful with the table, chairs, metal fire pit, trash, bear locker and canopy. Site 1 even had an outdoor shower!
There is also a quick general store and gas station nearby.
The road is close, but it did not bother us. Car sounds were pretty tame at night, and far and few during our stay in October.
Some mosquitos at dusk but manageable. Keep tent doors zipped up and a small campfire will help deter some.
Be mindful that there are some foxtail plants in the area if you have pets/dogs.

We loved this campsite! The location was super convenient with the gas station across the street and a short drive to the gates of Yosemite. The road and Valero are barely visible from the site and we didn’t mind heating cars passing. The outdoor shower was a must after a long day of hiking and the highlight of the weekend. We didn’t realize the spigot was connected to a jug of water, but we just ran across the street and picked up more water for washing dishes. Highly recommend also getting a citronella candle for the bugs as they swarm when you start cooking. Will definitely being staying again in the future!!

Close to Yosemite Big Oak Flat entrance and right across the street from a gas station, but was still very private. Had a port a potty and a hot outdoor shower that was awesome after hiking all day. Bear box provided. Perfect spot to stay if you don’t want to deal with the reservation hassle or other people camping right on top of you. Will stay again. 5 stars!

Great little spot! Toilet, power AND a shower. Convenient, clean and only 10-ish minutes from Yosemite. Great communication and plenty of space. Cool string lights hanging and has a bear box with picnic table. Flat-ish, just bring some leveling blocks and you’re good. Will stay again when given the opportunity.

We loved our time at Yosemite's Doorstep! This was my mom and sister's first time camping, so Jim's campsite was the perfect introduction. When we arrived, Jim had everything set up for us (we rented a tent and cots). The Bear Locker is the perfect size for a few days worth of food, which was my biggest concern. The area is fairly quiet even though there is a road and gas station just a slingshot from the campsite (very convenient when you're running out of ice). I think the only downside was all of the flying insects (bees, nats, flies, mosquitos, etc.) - they got pretty intense when we were cooking. I might also recommend bringing a portable canopy if you have one because there's not much shade in the campsite during the day. This is fine if you plan on exploring Yosemite, but if you want a day to just chill, you'll want that extra shade during the summer months. Yosemite was super easy to get to and always a wonder. Highly recommend this spot for your next Yosemite adventure!

We recently booked Jim’s HipCamp due to its proximity to Yosemite and the amenities offered. While these aspects were as described, we ultimately chose not to stay because of a few concerns.
The campsite is very close to the highway and visible from a gas station across the street, which raised concerns about the safety of our belongings, especially with the amount of gear we had. Additionally, the space felt tighter than expected for our group of four, making it difficult to fully relax and enjoy the environment. The photos on the listing made the site appear more spacious and secluded than it actually was, which was a bit disappointing.
That said, the location is convenient for accessing Yosemite, and the host was accurate in his description of the amenities provided. If you're planning to use this site as a quick stopover, it might work well. However, if privacy and security are priorities, you may want to consider these factors before booking.

Great site with amenities. Toilet, shower, lighting and table are provided and extremely helpful. Road noise is rather loud as it's about 100 yards from the main road. Gas station is walking distance as well and has everything you forgot to bring. This is a great site overall if you're planning to use it for day trips into the park. Don't expect to feel secluded or 'off grid' though. If that's what you're looking for, stay in the park! Jim was a great and helpful host. Would recommend.

Tent camping at Jim’s spot was great. The fire pit, 4 chairs, twinkle lights and warm outdoor shower were definitely perks! The site was clean and everything worked great and Jim is a responsive guy!

Perfect cozy set up for staging pre-Yosemite activities . 10 minutes from the entrance . Straight forward directions from Jim. He was responsive through messaging and would definitely stay there again !

Overall, this was a good campsite. It was nice and secluded from others, although nobody was at site #2 for most of our stay. We enjoyed the fireplace and amenities and appreciated that the convenience store was right across the road. The shower was great for one night, but then broke. Jim came out and attempted to fix it the next day, but I don’t think he actually tested it because it still didn’t work. Some things were disappointing - no hammock as pictured (so I left ours at home) and we paid for the BBQ beforehand which he almost went back on providing, but I told him I’d already planned to use it so he ended up providing it. Host was good at communicating and camp was a couple minutes of driving down the road to a beautiful secluded river area. There’s no cell reception at the camp so download maps and trails before you go.

Amazing location right outside the park. General store across the street. Rush creek down the street with a bar and restaurant. All the essentials are at the campsite just bring a tent! Will definitely stay again in the future. 10/10

Pretty close to the roads. Had a hard time sleeping due to traffic noise. And the lights from the gas station across the street is pretty visible and bright.

This was a fantastic place to stay for a weeklong trip.
The location itself was very convenient; literally across the road from an affordable gas station/convenience store, as well as less than 10 mins from the west entrance to the National Park.
Everything was set up and looked as described. The overhead lights did great in illuminating the entire site. The shower provided a decent amount of lukewarm water for a nice showering experience. The portajohn was not too far, but thankfully not too close.
Be sure to take caution in storing food properly. It is imperative to dispose of food waste and to leave no trace when cooking, if you choose to do so. This area is no foreign territory to ants, bees, flies, and even bears; all of which we ran into (be sure to bring spray for all of these creatures!)
Overall, a great time for camping comfortably.

The site is very clean and plenty of room for two tents. Keep in mind that the hammock in the picture is not included but I brought my own so that was okay. The host was very accommodating and available for any questions we had. The mosquitoes were not too bad as we brought citronella candles.

The location is great as we were able to get into the park early and beat the crowds . The campsite is clean . The hot shower was great and the porta potty was very clean as well.
We expressed some concerns regarding the campsite and Jim was extremely responsive to our concerns . He listened to us and took care of the issues at camp.
