I loved camping on Kiyaâs land! I know a lot of people talked about using this spot as a prep/debrief launch pad before or after their trip to Yosemite, but I used it as my base camp.
It was so nice to have a quiet space all to myself away from the insane crowds and packed campgrounds in the park.
The drive in was an hour to the entrances, but that gave me time to reflect on my trip, get psyched with a playlist, and have my breakfast! Seeing the sun set on the way out of the park was so beautiful every day, and it was so peaceful. For context, I wanna mention that I love driving.
About their site: I definitely overpacked, because they have water access and a power outlet to charge your devices/lights etc. There is also an outdoor makeshift bathroom for you to use which was a really considerate touch! The solar panels nearby are perfect to put things you want to keep dry under, but be mindful of the separations between panels, as rain may sprinkle down in between them.
I felt very welcome there, they came out to check on me the first night I was there, and even gave me some recommendations on where to go in the park, and even was left a friendly note giving me a headâs up about some rain on the way so my gear wouldnât get soaked! Very gracious, warm, and considerate.
I would absolutely come back again, I want more time to check out not only the park but also what Mariposa has to offer.
A perfect spot for both a couple days or spending the night when passing through
