Rumor has it our house was built by the famed western actor Alan Ladd as a secret getaway back in the 50s. There’s 5 acres, partly shaded by old mesquite trees and native Washingtonia palms that tower over rock lined paths. I recently fixed up our old 1949 tear drop camper for staying in after it had been abandoned for 30 years. It’s equipped with solar power, a gas burner, a pump sink, and a cooler.
This is a place for people that love old stuff! No marble countertops and stainless steel will be found. For lovers of the funky. There’s an outhouse, an outdoor shower, and a 9 foot deep swimming pool too. We’re situated between the San Andreas fault and the the Little San Bernardino Mountains, so spectacular hikes are a short walk away. After every golden sunset, the stars do not disappoint.

This 1968 Shasta Camper, located in a small garden within an urban neighborhood, sleeps up to four people, with additional space to set up tents if desired. It has a few amenities—some more rustic than others—including AC, refrigerator and freezer, stovetop (oven does not work), sinks, shower, internet, and coffee maker.
Located just ten minutes from the Port of Long Beach and the Port of San Pedro, it’s a great launch point for cruise-goers. With swimming beaches only twenty minutes away, it’s an ideal option for a low-cost vacation.
Help yourself to the freshest fruits, vegetables, and legumes from the garden, and watch the bees, butterflies, and grasshoppers happily pollinate, creating opportunities for new growth.
The property is securely locked, and the entrance is video-monitored for your safety (and ours).
It’s important to note that the camper (not a glamper) is vintage, and the convenience of the urban neighborhood can sometimes come with a variety of neighborhood sounds—though it can also be extremely quiet at times.
Due to the desert climate, ants may accompany the pollinators and enter the camper if food or beverages are left out. The garden is shared with our home, so some privacy may be compromised when we tend to it.
Street parking only. Pay attention to posted restriction signs and do not park in business or residential lots. The driveway can be made available at a cost of $10 per night (keep in mind the driveway is located at the front of the property and is a short walk away from the entrance to the camper).
Yard is fenced-in completely but if your pet is an escape artist there are some very small openings to be aware of when letting them off-leash.

Rumor has it our house was built by the famed western actor Alan Ladd as a secret getaway back in the 50s. There’s 5 acres, partly shaded by old mesquite trees and native Washingtonia palms that tower over rock lined paths. I recently fixed up our old 1949 tear drop camper for staying in after it had been abandoned for 30 years. It’s equipped with solar power, a gas burner, a pump sink, and a cooler.
This is a place for people that love old stuff! No marble countertops and stainless steel will be found. For lovers of the funky. There’s an outhouse, an outdoor shower, and a 9 foot deep swimming pool too. We’re situated between the San Andreas fault and the the Little San Bernardino Mountains, so spectacular hikes are a short walk away. After every golden sunset, the stars do not disappoint.

This 1968 Shasta Camper, located in a small garden within an urban neighborhood, sleeps up to four people, with additional space to set up tents if desired. It has a few amenities—some more rustic than others—including AC, refrigerator and freezer, stovetop (oven does not work), sinks, shower, internet, and coffee maker.
Located just ten minutes from the Port of Long Beach and the Port of San Pedro, it’s a great launch point for cruise-goers. With swimming beaches only twenty minutes away, it’s an ideal option for a low-cost vacation.
Help yourself to the freshest fruits, vegetables, and legumes from the garden, and watch the bees, butterflies, and grasshoppers happily pollinate, creating opportunities for new growth.
The property is securely locked, and the entrance is video-monitored for your safety (and ours).
It’s important to note that the camper (not a glamper) is vintage, and the convenience of the urban neighborhood can sometimes come with a variety of neighborhood sounds—though it can also be extremely quiet at times.
Due to the desert climate, ants may accompany the pollinators and enter the camper if food or beverages are left out. The garden is shared with our home, so some privacy may be compromised when we tend to it.
Street parking only. Pay attention to posted restriction signs and do not park in business or residential lots. The driveway can be made available at a cost of $10 per night (keep in mind the driveway is located at the front of the property and is a short walk away from the entrance to the camper).
Yard is fenced-in completely but if your pet is an escape artist there are some very small openings to be aware of when letting them off-leash.

This was a beautiful space that was especially breathtaking in the moonlight. Geoffrey was a gracious host and gave us space. I was obsessed with the friendly horses and all the hiking options throughout the space. Sleeping in the camper for a plus sized person was a challenge (I am 6’3, 280lbs) but other than that I am absolutely going to be coming back here one day!

They provided some water, paper towels, and logs for the fire pit. For us, staying in a trailer felt much more comfortable than camping in a tent. We would definitely recommend this place.

We had such a wonderful camping experience! The host was incredibly kind, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The place was very clean, including the restroom which was spotless something we really appreciated.
The location itself is beautiful, with horses around and plenty of fun activities to enjoy. We especially loved being able to have a campfire, which made the whole experience even more special.
Everything was well organized and peaceful. We truly enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

Perfect cozy spot for a one night get away! Matt was a friendly host and the camper was charming. I appreciated the fire pit, propane stove, and kitchen utensils/dishes that were included. My only note to future guests is to bring bug repellent as there are some pools of standing water nearby with mosquitos but also some cute frogs! Overall great experience.

However, I must note that it is a bit far from Joshua national park and there are almost no light outside camp. But for the price this place is worth it. Weekend Trip to Fern Ridge Camper
Such a nice stop and really clean little place off the beaten path. I stopped here on a solo road trip down the coast and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling alone. Easy check in, plenty of privacy and very kind communicative hosts. I would recommend double checking your route with hosts in the village when you get to town before going up the hills and ensuring you downloaded map directions because you lose reception quickly but they had great instructions. The camper itself was cute and convenient with a portable gas stove, some basic cookware and a working sink for washing. Plenty of storage space if you are a light traveler like me and a nice little dining nook.
Wildlife viewing and bird watching and a nice little fire pit. There is wifi once you get to the site.
