The fantastic Red Apple bakery, known for its delicious fresh-baked goods, is also just down the road. For groceries, Big Trees supermarket in Arnold is a quick 8-minute drive.
The charming town of Murphys also called the ‘Queen of the Sierra’ is only a 13-minute drive from our property. Nature lovers will be delighted to know that Big Trees State Park, home to magnificent Sequoia groves, is just a 10-minute drive away. If you're interested in swimming, several beautiful mountain lakes, including Utica Reservoir, Lake Alpine, and White Pines Lake (only 5 miles away), offer wonderful opportunities. For those seeking adventure, we are located just 1 mile from an extensive network of gravel roads, ideal for activities such as mountain biking.

This 1968 Shasta Camper, located in a small garden within an urban neighborhood, sleeps up to four people (only 2 people comfortably), with additional space to set up tents if desired. It has a few amenities—some more rustic than others—including AC, refrigerator and freezer, stovetop (oven does not work), sinks, shower, internet, and coffee maker.
Located just ten minutes from the Port of Long Beach and the Port of San Pedro, it’s a great launch point for cruise-goers. With swimming beaches only twenty minutes away, it’s an ideal option for a low-cost vacation. Los Angeles is a 1.75 hour train ride making it a doable day trip.
Help yourself to the seasonal fruits, vegetables, and legumes from the garden, and watch the bees, butterflies, and grasshoppers happily pollinate, creating opportunities for new growth.
The property is securely locked, and the entrance is video-monitored for your safety (and ours).
It’s important to note that the camper (not a glamper) is vintage, and the convenience of the urban neighborhood can sometimes come with a variety of neighborhood sounds—though it can also be extremely quiet at times.
Due to the desert climate, ants may accompany the pollinators and enter the camper, especially if food or beverages are left out. The garden is shared with our home, so some privacy may be compromised when we tend to it.
Street parking only. Pay attention to posted restriction signs and do not park in business or residential lots. The driveway can be made available at a cost of $10 per night (keep in mind the driveway is located at the front of the property and is a short walk away from the entrance to the camper).
Yard is fenced-in completely but if your pet is an escape artist there are some very small openings to be aware of when letting them off-leash.

The marbleized limestone outcropping is a prominent site feature that's culturally, geologically, and historically significant. It was used as a communal grinding rock — Chaw'se — by the Miwok to process acorns into meal for food. This same rock formation was later hydraulically mined for gold in the second half of the 19th century, amidst some of the largest mining operations during the California Gold Rush. Downtown Murphys, our local gold-mining town turned quaint wine country destination, is just 1.5 miles away.
Our site manifests as a spiritual epicenter within the larger landscape, a gateway to the Sierras, a space of regeneration. Fourteen acres of pure possibility for gathering, for staying, for inspiration, for joy.

The Love Creek Retreat is everything the title stands for. It was romantic, relaxing, gorgeous, and comfortable. My husband and I stayed for only one night in the trailer and we wished we could've stayed longer. The host was gracious, kind, and helpful. The grounds are beautiful and exceeded all expectations. Weekend Trip to Love Creek Retreat
We had such a lovely weekend at Fergie! The property has so many little spots where you can tuck yourself away and relax, which made the whole place feel peaceful and private. The daybed was incredibly comfortable, and one of our favorite spots was the swing under the bridge. Sitting there together with our feet in the water was unexpectedly romantic and such a perfect way to slow down.
Fergie, the trailer, is tucked into her own private little space and felt like a true getaway. We purchased the upgraded package, which included a tub of fresh towels and extra blankets, and it was absolutely worth it. Those little comforts made the stay feel extra cozy while still keeping the rustic camping experience we wanted.
The location is also fantastic. Murphy is just down the road if you want restaurants or a lively evening out, and we got up early one morning and went to Natural Bridges, where we hiked down and swam through the cave. Such a fun experience!
The entire weekend was peaceful, romantic, and exactly the little escape we were hoping for. We would absolutely stay here again.

Had the best weekend there, I only stayed one night with my boyfriend but it was SO worth it. Not only is the camper the perfect distance from the Aptos town, it’s also super close to capitola beach! The camper actually feels super spacious and the bed is super cozy. Loved it here and hope to be back soon!

Love Creek Retreat is something every 20-something should experience! At 23, so much of our lives revolve around phones, social media and the digital world. Spending an evening here gave us the chance to disconnect from everything else and reconnect with each other.
The property is absolutely enchanting—towering trees, a beautiful creek, winding wooded paths and little surprises around every corner. We cooked outside, explored, relaxed in the hanging chairs and sat with our feet in the creek. It felt like escaping into another world.
Our host, Serenity, was outstanding. Her attention to detail is unsurpassed, and you can feel the thought and care she has put into the entire experience. We also highly recommend adding the towel and linen crate—it made glamping incredibly easy because we barely had to pack anything.
We left relaxed, happy and already wanting to return. Put down the phones, get outside and go experience Love Creek Retreat. Sometimes the best connection happens when you lose the Wi-Fi.

Weekend Trip to Casa Cobalt Desert Trailer
The trailer is great! It is incredibly comfortable on beautiful land. Well located for going into Joshua Tree and Pioneertown. Only stayed here one night, but would love to come back and spend a couple more. Highly recommended.

This was such a lovely experience and such a much-needed getaway. It’s pretty easy to get to and it’s also very isolated from any main highway and busy streets, so you won’t hear any sound at all. it’s also 15 to 20 minutes from pretty much anything you need. It’s a very quiet convenient area with a beautiful view of the nice guy and a very comfortable RV full of all the goodies you need for a relaxing weekend of glamping. So great pictures got to see the amazing meteor shower truly enjoyed my stay out there. Highly recommend.

This camper was the perfect little getaway—close enough to the city to be convenient, yet once you’re there, it truly feels like you’ve escaped to a peaceful, remote retreat. It was incredibly cozy, quiet, and relaxing, with such a calm atmosphere that made it easy to unwind. This was my family and I's 1st Hipcamp experience and it was one to remember! I got my car stuck in a the sand and Winsome was a TRUE HERO! She tried to help me get out and when it wasn't possible, she was kind enough to call a tow truck and stayed with me while they dug me out. We fell in love with the trailer, it felt so homey and spacious; even my 2 year old was so comfortable she loved cuddling on the sofa and bed (which is saying something for her! lol) The night time star gazing is TOO DIE for! I literally took my laptop outside with a light and just gazed at the beauty. Even though we stayed for just a night, it was such a peaceful, serene experience and Winsome's constant communication and check ins to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and our daughter was happy truly meant the world. I couldn't recommend this beautiful space and amazing host MORE! Here you will be cared for and she will go above and beyond to make sure you have the best stay. 10/10

North Coast
Camping beneath redwoods—the tallest trees in the world—is a hard-to-beat highlight of the north coast. The majestic groves scattered across Redwood National & State Parks are an excellent choice for first-timers. Further south, from Eureka to Mendocino and eventually San Francisco, you’ll find a string of private and state park campgrounds tucked along rugged coastlines marked by bluffs, coves, dunes, and tidepools.
Central Coast
Stretching from Monterey south to Santa Barbara, the Central Coast scores points for scenery and variety. Plus, it’s a convenient escape from the urban hassles of San Francisco and Los Angeles. Redwoods, waterfalls, and windswept bluffs border Highway 1 in Big Sur, while waves crash beside state parks north of Santa Barbara. For a remote camping experience, campsites at Channel Islands National Park off the coast of Santa Barbara can oblige.
SoCal Beaches: Los Angeles to San Diego
The golden beaches of Southern California are the stuff of lazy days and pop songs. And fantastic camping for those inclined. The best campsites line-up beside the coast between Newport Beach and Dana Point in Orange County, with a few more perched on coastal bluffs north of San Diego. Not surprisingly, these oceanfront sites fill fast, so book early.
Sierra Nevada Mountains
Granite domes and lush Alpine meadows border campgrounds in Yosemite National Park, while enormous sequoias are the draw in Kings Canyon and Sequoia national parks. Campgrounds beside alpine lakes and the sparkling blue waters of Lake Tahoe are always postcard-pretty.
Southern Deserts
For surreal sunsets, striking rock formations, restless sand dunes, and spring wildflowers, head east. Nine campgrounds and plenty more right outside await at Death Valley National Park, home to the lowest spot in the U.S. Joshua trees and picturesque boulders keep Hipcampers happy at Joshua Tree National Park while Anza-Borrego Desert State Park serves up fantastic desert hiking outside San Diego. High season is late fall through spring, when temperatures are pleasant.
