Chaparral Loop: Tent Site T2
Karen was very kind and helped us move our stuff up the hill. It is very hot in summer but the views of Mount Shasta are so amazing and worth it. The stars are incredibly beautiful. Loved staying there. Don’t recommend driving a Prius up the hill, but just park on the bottom of the hill and Karen will help move your stuff up :)

Beautiful views, close to road
Such a wonderful site and a really great host as well. Communicative & friendly. I was at site 4 and had AMAZING views. The one thing I was disappointed by was the sound of the highway -- I didn't realize how loud the highway would be when booking the site. That said, we moved from site 5 to site 4 and it felt significantly better.
A7 Van Camping Site
Van overnight with electric.
Was nice to have electric plugin for night. Most full hookup sites are for large vehicles so didn’t have sewer hookup. For me it was a good one- night only stay. Had restroom and showers.

Incredible views
Tent camping on Karen’s land was more than I could have asked for. I had a fantastic view of mount shasta and a fantastic hot shower to end the day!
The grounds were very clean, safe property and we were greeted with printout map of the grounds and recommendations near by for restaurants and outdoor activities! Only thing to note is this site is close to the highway so it can be a bit loud but that didn’t ruin the best 4th of July view I’ve seen to date!

Chaparral Loop: Tent Site T2
Really loud, poor communication
I wish I would have noticed how many reviews mention the noise from the freeway before booking here, because we weren't refunded when we checked out early because we couldn't sleep. We were unable to sleep through the night because the "convenient location" is literally alongside the freeway. The camp store was closed when we arrived as well as in the morning when we decided to check out. We could not reach the host with a question on our way to the campground and again the next morning when we left. I reached out to discuss a refund for not staying the remaining two nights of our three night reservation, mentioning I couldn't reach the host in person or over the phone. The host responded with "are you sure you have the right campground?" and denied we had reached out. She also went on about "thousands of campers visit every month" and "somehow manage to sleep through the night." She went back and forth with saying to contact Hipcamp, her personal phone number, or refer to her website, and also uses a third party reservation system for check in/out so it's hard to track. The cancellation policy is 48 hours before arrival, so if you get there and realize how loud it is you won't be refunded. We spent the next day exhausted, finding a new campsite, taking down our camp and setting up at another campground, (which was fortunately very welcoming, quiet, and cheaper.)

Nightmare in Weed trailer park
The campsites are up beyond a very steep hill covered in gravel. My Toyota Camry slid off the side of the hill, and luckily I was able to stop it before it fell off further into very sharp rocks that would have ripped apart the underside of the car. The hosts were absent and I called AAA towing but being in rural weed, there were no Tow trucks that responded leaving my car stranded on the hillside until the next afternoon. Eventually I found the property owner who said they couldn’t help because of liability. They told me to call their friend for a tow and I told them I was waiting on AAA to arrive. They called their friend with a truck without telling me and their friend tried to make me pay them.
This is an extremely shady location full of mosquitos, and they have plenty of money to buy teslas, tractors, and a remodeled bathroom that was clean but because of the dead battery there was no running water.
absolute nightmare experience and bizarrely unapologetic hosts who do not care for guests and will try to charge you with their tow truck friend if you get stuck on the gravel hill trap.
