Beautiful Spot!
This camping site was amazing, we had the best time! Directions to the campsite were clear and easy to follow and we reached our destination with 0 issues. There was plenty of space for two tens and the picnic table and fireplace area were very clean. The area was big and the dogs had a great time running around. There were no other campsites taken so it was so peaceful! At the end of the weekend one of our cars batteries died and the land owners went above and beyond helping us fix the problem! We will be back!

Rowan's camp rocks!!
Amazing! Quiet. Remote. Beautiful!!
We visited over Veteran's Day weekend. Had the place completely to ourselves. So relaxing! Saw deer, pheasant, and a bald eagle.
Rachel was helpful and communicative before our arrival, which I really appreciated.
Porta potties on site were super clean.
Absolutely recommend and we will definitely be back!!

Amazing time here
First of all, this place was better than expected. After having to cancel our July trip due to COVID in our group of 14, we rescheduled for last weekend - Mid September and it was plenty warm enough during the day to swim in the beautiful river and float in the watering hole. Lovely lovely place, and it was honestly so nice to be completely without service.
We had such an awesome time. Brought our own floats. The little row boat they provided was fun too.
The space is also completely private and you could fit many many more than just my group of 14.
There’s a little beach that leads to the watering hole too, that was a fun place to hangout in. It felt like we had a whole campsite to ourselves - because we did LOL.
We saw cows and deer ran through the mountains. We are 100% planning to come back next year.
LOVED IT

Fabulous, peaceful, remote.
I stayed in Campsite 5 for 4 days completely by myself in mid-week September. This campsite is great...roomy and right near the river. I met the proprietors briefly and they were friendly and welcoming. Sawyer's Bar was super quiet and peaceful--no human sounds at all! The campsites are a bit too close together for my liking, though it was amazing to camp here without anyone else here! This would be a fabulous place to rent out as a group, with friends/family renting all the campsites. The river is gorgeous and fast-moving, with a calmer spot that I assume could be a swimming hole though I never swam in it (it wasn't that hot out). Just amazingly beautiful.
Things to consider: the dirt road to Sawyer's Bar (and other spots in this Hipcamp) is probably best for cars with a higher clearance, as it's a bit rutted. My Rav-4 loved it. It's 3 miles to the pavement and 4 miles to the nearest decent market, so bring everything you need! I had to go back to get more ice. It's a nice drive. Just not a "quick trip to the store".
Also: there's no phone service at the campsites. There's a spot up the hill with a sign that says there's cell service, though I still didn't have any (my cell provider isn't great--you might have service here with a better provider). It was fine with me, but if you need cell coverage, keep that in mind!
Overall I loved my trip here and will definitely return.

Oasis near Sacramento
You enter the ranch and it's like entering Jurassic Park. Cows and Deer as you drive in, and turns from a dry ranch into a river oasis. Highlights include tubing down the river with our little girl. It was in September even so river was a little low and bumpy but still fun. Portapotties were super clean and plentiful on the property. Only 2 nights, and felt like much more to explore if stayed longer. Will def be back!

Rachael's property is absolutely amazing! The campsites are spaced well apart and the bathrooms are as clean or cleaner than any US Forset Service sites I've camped at. The roads are maintained very well. The river itself is breathtaking and there's a large swimming hole accessible on the property. I'll definitely be returning! Thank you for making your beautiful property available to the public!

My daughter’s first camping trip and we loved this place. It offered great privacy as the sites are spaced out. The flowing river and the beautiful sand were just a paradise for kids. We had camp site #5 and it had good shade. Bring your float tube to have fun in the river.
The river bed covers mostly by large round gravels and they are slippery. Just something to pay attention when you are in the river.
Thanks the host (Rachael) to offer such a nice camp place. We will definitely come back.

Had a great time at the cabins! It’s a beautiful area so close to the river, and the cabins are comfortable. Rachael is great about responding to questions quickly. Tom was so helpful, he even helped us with car battery trouble on our way out! We enjoyed our stay!

Campsite 2 was great and huge! It had direct access to the swimming hole with calm waters, perfect for toddlers. The sand around the site and near the water was also a hit with the toddlers! Despite the 100+ degree heat (we went during a heatwave), we enjoyed this campsite more than when we stayed at Rowans Camp, site #6 because it was just way closer to the water. We loved that the access to the swimming hole had shallow entrance, was sandy, and also had some shady grass area to sit around.

Gorgeous and Extraordinary Spot
The group site at Cosumnes River Ranch is an extraordinary, unique and gorgeous place. Our group of 4 families was there in a blistering Labor Day heat wave, so bad we actually left a bit early - but we still ADORED this magical place and feel total gratitude for being able to stay there. The river in Sept was a perfect temperature, keeping us cool, allowing swimming and boating. The campsite is stunningly pretty, much better than the pix show. It’s big - they’ve hosted more than 100 people at this site. We think 20-50 would be a great number. Everything was clean, quiet and pristine. The kids had a magnificent time (ages 12-16). We adults were so relaxed. There were no mosquitos though there are apparently many other animals from coyotes to bears (you don’t need bear boxes). There’s shade - quite a few trees, which helps - but we recommend to also bring a canopy. There’s a table, but you’ll prob need 1-2 more. The portapotties are actually clean! The Ranch Manager Tom is a delight, super friendly and organized, and a character. We slept like babies in the cool night air. I will flag there’s a long 3 mile drive on a dirt road once you’re on the ranch, so bring what you need bc you’re not going to make a quick trip to the market. You have to drive 5-10 to get cell service. It’s just so quiet, so private, you can imagine what it was like for settlers in another era. Just so fun.

We loved Sawyer's Bar! The river was perfect for swimming and fishing, the campsite (site 1) was comfortable and a good size, with easy access to the river. The stars at night were beautiful, we saw shooting stars for the first time in a long time. Tom took such good care of us. He was making rounds checking on the campers at exactly the right time to help us when we accidentally got our car stuck in the sand. The campers at site 2 were also amazing and so kind, coming over to help as well. Tom also leant us a propane tank for the grill we brought when we realized we had brought the wrong size tank. Thank you Tom for saving our trip and making it such a great experience!

This place is absolute heaven. I have been searching for a spot like this for many years and I'm beyond grateful to have found it! The river is absolutely divine and having a section of it to yourself is truly a gift. The cabin is great, the bed extremely comfortable, the serenity unmatched. I will be back again and again. Thank you to Rachael and Tom for sharing this space with us, forever grateful.

Great river front camp site!
Great location next to the river. Site #3 has direct access to the smaller of the two swimming holes. Camp host(Tom) greeted us soon after we got there and he was very nice. We chatted and he told us everything we needed to know about the grounds and wildlife. He also came by everyday to see if we needed anything. It was a hot day but we were able to cool down in the water. Site #3 also had a lot of shade above our tent area, but definitely recommend a pop up by the table area as well as it is not shaded. Plenty of small smallmouth bass and green sunfish in the river to have some fun fishing with kids. Bugs weren’t much of a problem either. Kids got excited on the last day when the cattle came down by the river. Camp sites are well spread apart. Worth coming back for!
