Great!
My family of 4 enjoyed our stay at site #9. Location was great with easy access to the river. Campsite was clean and the convenience of the picnic table and clean porta potty were great.
Campsite is a bit rocky, but definitely a few good spots to place a ground tent. Communication with Rachael prior to the trip was awesome and she was quick to answer any questions I had in preparation for our trip. Will definitely like to come back and maybe check out some of the other sites!

Perfect for relaxing in quiet
We had a wonderful experience at sawyer’s bar camp 5. Loved having the cow’s company during the day. No other animals in sight other than birds. The river was cold (end of May/ early June) but perfect for cooling off. Perfect amount of shade during the day. The bathrooms (portapotty) were super clean. The whole camp was clean. My favorite thing about the whole experience was how quiet and separated the camps are from one another. Allowed us to enjoy the sounds of nature and relax. We will definitely be back!

A Magical Place
Sawyers Bar is a Magical place! The sites are right on the Consumes River, which is just beautiful! The campsites are very well spaced out and all have great views. Find peace and tranquility, listening to the rushing river and birds chirping.
Most importantly the hosts are just plain old good people, stopping bye daily to check on us. Also, they personally clean and replenish the porta potties. I’ve never seen a cleaner porta potty! Includes a sink, paper towels and real TP not that single ply junk. They are pumped regularly so they even smell clean.
Back to the site, the swimming hole between sites 1&2 is great! It’s part of the river that meets a bank so it has little to no current until you swim way out to the main part of the river. On the other end by 3, 4 & 5 the river has small rapids so you get to enjoy the sound of rushing water as you sleep. There’s also great views of the stars. The half moon and light pollution didn’t allow views of the milky way but you might see it on a moonless night.
Oh and if you need supplies, the old Porterville Market is not far away and we’ll stocked with a butcher and deli. Also very close to wineries! Best part of all, they are very dog friendly.
Highly, Highly recommend! It was hard to leave and we will be back!

We had an awesome Memorial Day weekend on the stunning Cosumnes River Ranch. You are truly in nature ~3 miles deep on a cattle ranch nestled in the some of the most beautiful scenery California has to offer. The stars are bright and the sound of the river provided the perfect setting to let all your worries slip away. Rachael and Tom are very friendly and great communicators. Highly recommend camping here!

The best private group camping
This was my third time there with a friend group. It’s such an amazing spot, beautiful, spacious, private, and just the spot to get away from reality. I can tell that they are really making the extra efforts to make the entire ranch a destination you want to revisit again and again. Kudos to Rachel and her team, especially Tom and Claire.

Most excellent Hipcamp
Best Hip camp site we've stayed at. Sawyers Bar campsite 1 is secluded, very close to river and has a shady spot perfect for our sprinter. Sleeping with the river sounds was amazing.

River camping bliss
Beautiful, expansive, pristine land. Our site was gorgeous and spacious with a good picnic table, trees close enough for setting up a hammock, and convenient distance to a portapotty. The owner directed us to several fishing spots on the property with bass upon our request. Bring your fly rod and floating flies, and fish dusk and dawn hours. Don’t forget your bug spray and citronella, especially when hanging out in lamplight at night. Campfire ban just went into effect the weekend of our stay, but we still had a great time. It was nice going to sleep to the sound of the river. We’ll be back!

I’m not giving a low rating I’m giving a rating that says I don’t want many people to know about it and I want to save it as a special spot and not get ruined by people who aren’t so savvy with Nature and/or dealing with their own trash for example

Awesome camping by the river.
This is a beautiful spot. Our site was perfectly isolated with access to a calm spot on the river to hang out all day and swim. Plus, Tom is amazing! Super knowledgable about the land and its history, plus he rescued us when our truck got stuck in the sandbar.
There are lots of critters, the sun can get very intense, and the fire ban is no fun, so make sure to prep for that. Couldn't recommend this place more :)

A great adventure!
A wonderful experience from start to finish! From the beautiful heavenly gates that let us in, to the sounds of the rushing white rapids that were next to our campsite. We were immediately greeted by Mr. Tom and given a quick and friendly safety meeting with the kids to ensure our stay was comfortably safe and sound. Cell reception was spotty, but that’s fine when the purpose of making an adventure like this is to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. I rate this experience 11/10 and definitely recommend the experience. You’ll see us again, Rachael & Mr. Tom, for sure.

Absolutely gorgeous
Cabin 1 is a perfect little cabin right at the water with the most comfy bed. Our little dog had a blast running around and fetching sticks in the sand. The nights are so quiet and peaceful. 10 out of 10!

Cute camping spot next to the river
Absolutely loved camping here, so peaceful sleeping with the sound of the river! We were at campsite 5, was very private and the swimming hole nearby was great for us and our pup to cool off during the heat of the day. Lots of nice walking tracks through this huge property. Tom was very friendly and greeted us upon arrival and gave us a little history of the land. Perfect summer camping spot 🧡

Sawyer’s Bar site #2
Rachael’s Hipcamp area is phenomenal and worth every penny. As others have said, the sites are a few miles into a large ranch on the river and the scenic drive to them is a nice bonus. Other than a few sites which are nicely spaced out around you, you have almost complete privacy. Other camp sites can be seen but they aren’t very close to one another. Tom the ranch manager arrived after we’d been at camp for a couple hours to bring us our ordered firewood and give us a quick rundown of the land. He was very cordial and the firewood was nice and dry with kindling also provided. Porta-Pottys were spaced just a short walk from each site and they were clean. At site #2 in sawyer’s bar you’re right by the large swimming hole and have a little beach area to yourself. While other sites have some
Coverage there is zero shade at site #2 so plan accordingly. The views, atmosphere, and upkeep of these camp sites is 5 stars for sure. Though Tom said all manner of animals live on the ranch we kept a clean camp and had no wildlife issues at all. We will be back many times to come!

The hosts were very accommodating. Tom came by each day to make sure everyone was doing fine. He even taught a few campers how to pan for gold and let us borrow his equipment. The area was super nice. The pictures on the site doesn't do any justice. Only being a few paces from the river, you aren't too close, but just far enough.

The legend of Tom
There is a legend in these parts and his name is Tom. Tom oversees the property near the campsite and was incredibly hospitable to our group, welcoming us and checking in throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. He’s also extremely knowledgeable about the area and skilled in seemingly infinite ways. He taught us how to pan for gold and rigged us up for fishing in a nearby pond.
The area is absolutely gorgeous. Our site was directly next to the river giving us easy to several swimming holes. We spent most of our time bathing in the sun, floating on tubes in the river, playing cornhole and kanjam in the center of the site, and eating fresh pineapple and watermelon (highly recommend bringing)
Rachael was super helpful in helping us coordinate our trip and find our site.

Right on the river
Incredibly private spot. The river rose
Overnight, so I’m glad I didn’t put my tent closer to the water. It was hot, but the river was refreshing to sit and wade it. It was rushing fast. So peaceful. Put up a hammock and took a nap when extra hot. I got the firewood add on. WORTH IT. For the price and amount I could have had 3 decent fires. I met the owner too and he was absolutely lovely. So informative and truly passionate about his hipcamp. I absolutely will return to try a different spot on the river. No complaints at all. Truly such a lovely night out.
